Join The Full Nerd gang as they talk about the latest PC hardware topics. In today's show we are joined by Steve Burke from Gamers Nexus to talk about his work overclocking the 8086k, the process Intel uses to solder their CPUs, and all the burning questions for Steve!
Wrapping up Computex 2018 with discussions about AMD's Threadripper 2 with 32 cores, Intel's new limited edition Core i7-8086K, and that really odd 28-core 5 GHz demo where Intel forgot to mention it was overclocked. Also some discussion on the best of the rest of the show, including G.Skill's Royal memory, gaming smartphones, ASUS' dual screen technologies, Intel's QLC NAND, and hardware for miners.
Mmm, chips. Tasty, tasty chips. Matt and Rich have plenty to say about them this week as they discuss the 40th birthday of Intel’s 8086 processor, which though greying around the temples a bit remains a silicon legend just the same. You’ll also hear their thoughts about the forthcoming SolarWinds IPO, Barracuda’s new security awareness training solution for midsize businesses, Symantec’s ongoing push into cloud security for SMBs, and a new model for pricing managed services, not to mention an interview with Bitdefender’s VP of worldwide channel development on the latest opportunities in security. And if you were born before the Intel 8086, don’t worry. You’re not getting older. You’re getting better! Subscribe to ChannelPro Weekly! Patrick and Ryan discuss the abundance of news from Computex. Intel shows a 28-core consumer CPU demo running at 5 GHz, but with caveats on cooling. The Core i7-8086K is a nod to the 40th anniversary of the original Intel 8086 CPU. AMD also demoed Threadripper 2nd gen with 32-cores and talked about momentum for EPYC server designs. NVIDIA released info on Jetson Xavier and the Isaac robotics platform that utilizes it. Qualcomm used Computex as the backdrop to talk about the Snapdragon 850 Mobile Compute Platform as an upgrade for future Always Connected PCs. And not to be left out, Apple hosted WWDC with details on the new iOS 12.
