We met a gal Bartender from Boston who went over there and hasn't left. I have your CD that has the resterant on it. Irish Dring Songs? Brodignagian Bards I think. I just love it. My daughter loves it too. She had seen a gentleman who told the story of "an Irish Christmas". You make it. I think your family might too. it's wonderful. Slainte," Ken Katen sent you a message on Patreon: "Hi, Marc - Listening to your Love of Planet Earth (#491- I'm catching up on my music podcasts), I thought it was well past time that I thank you for so many years of WONDERFUL Irish & Celtic music. I've been listening to your podcast since very nearly the beginning, sometimes more religiously than others. Sure, it's been grand to hear - and now to get to see a bit of - you, how you and your family have grown and, even tho we've never met face to face, I feel like I know you, just a bit. I remember when you moved (from Texas?) to New Orleans, when you met your LadyLove, and when your wee daughter needed such a grievous surgery (I believe I lit a candle). I hope you all are doing fine, and I'm glad I can help you here at Patreon. I wish I could do more, but I'm supporting a few artists here and [buying] music when I can. One of my favoritest memories, from many years ago now, is of bombing along the dirt ‘backcountry' roads of Joshua Tree National Park, in my then-new 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid AWD, windows up to keep the dust out, a/c on and your podcast playing LOUD. That show was one when you played a pub-ish song (I think one of yours) that was a paen to Joss Whedon, over whom you also rhapsodized before & after the song. I'd tried “Firefly,” it hadn't resonated, but you convinced me to give it another try. By the second episode I was intrigued, by the third I'd fallen hopelessly in love, both with Serenity and her crew (WHAT? only 14 episodes??!!) and with all things Whedon. I had my own grievous surgery/recovery awhile after that, and I loaded up my Netlix CD queue with Angel, based on its description of a troubled vampire trying to navigate his way through the modern world, and when I realized it was a Buffy spinoff, I went back and started watching Buffy until Angel spun off, then watched them in airing order (compulsive engineer here) until they both wrapped up. And since then, Dollhouse, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (well, a lot of it, anyway) - he's so darn [prolific]. I'm not sure whether to say “Thank you” or “Curse ye.” ;) And along the way, I've learned so much about Celtic history and culture from listening to your show - Italian Celts - who knew?? Your taste and selections have grown more and more discerning, and the old favorites come around again too, and I'm always a sucker for a beautiful ballad or a stirring dance instrumental. And your commitment to showcasing diversity in the Celtic music world is outstanding - not only your women only shows, but now your commitment putting together a Pride show of LGBT+ artists. As a gay man myself, who went to the first ever Northern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire - in my defense, I WAS still in high school - and spent some time in my 20's hanging out with the SCA, I know we fae folk have always been a big, but more-or-less closeted part of the re-creationist/Celtic music and cultural world, which [can] present as overtly misogynistic and heterocentric. Just like in real life, sometimes, I guess. But closets are for kilts. And your hand made chain mail, if you've got it. So a big rainbow THANK YOU! .?? for all you're doing to bring out its beautiful diversity. All this has been a longwinded way (I'm Sicilian and Greek, so...) of saying “Thank you” for all the pleasure you've given me. Now that I'm retired, and locked down here in San Francisco, I plan to mark my calendar for the next Celtfather show. Once we're past this dratted Crown Virus thingy, p'raps I'll be able to join you on a Celtic Invasion Vacation, if you're still doing them. Bliadhna Mhath Ùr”

Thank you to each of the women I listened to today.  I felt myself embraced by the divine creative feminine.  Then came a connection to culture and in the last song by Amelia Hogan “Cornish Lads” the recognition my music is influenced by Celtic heritage. UX: How Humans Interact with Products Great products generally overcome great design challenges. Users want products to be simple, eliminating the need for a lab guide or an operating manual. As a result, designers must think outside the box to make products easy to consume. For example, since the advent of the smartphone in 1994, its design has radically evolved over the years, adding applications that are easier than ever to use due to consumer demand. Across industries, enterprises are placing more and more emphasis on user experience (UX). But defining UX can be complicated. In this episode, we will demystify the term and cut through the tech talk so anyone can easily understand it. Our panel of design experts will share their unique points of view on the definition of UX, focusing on accessibility and ease of use, which have become industry standards for many products.  Additionally, our panel will do a deep dive into the design process, which spans the research phase and the collection of user pain points to scoping the end-to-end flow to troubleshooting. In this exciting episode, we will explore: ·       What is UX? ·       Why is product design and functionality so important?·       What's the design process and what does it encompass?·       How does VMware SASE assist with UX design?Support the show https://sase.vmware.com/resources/podcasts       Support the show (https://www.velocloud.com/sd-wan-resources/podcasts/sd-wan-360)

Where can we send a wedding invite?" Katherine McMillan emailed a photo: "Hi Marc, Thanks so much for all you do, I've found many great Irish/Celtic bands through listening to your podcast. I usually listen to it while I'm in the lab at work but we are currently in lockdown here in Victoria, Australia so my work is closed. Instead, I'm listening to the podcast while sorting out all the sheet music for my flute quartet, hoping it will inspire me to arrange more Celtic music for four flutes as it's definitely our favourite type of music to play. At the moment I've got the Rainy Days episode playing; it seemed appropriate given the very cold and wintery days. Thanks again and keep up the great work!"

Salute the Songbird with Maggie Rose

Jeannie Seely is one of the most accomplished, influential women in music. She's a member of the Grand Ole Opry, a Grammy winning artist and an incredible, prolific songwriter. In this episode, Maggie and Jeannie talk about being a woman in the music industry and whether things have changed since the 60's, when she got her start. Jeannie has so many great stories and shares some of them with Maggie during the conversation, including her collaboration with Randy Newman, friendship with the legendary Dottie West, and more. Along with many accolades including awards from Billboard, Cashbox and Record World, country music legend Jeannie Seely has achieved No. 1 songs as a solo artist, duet partner and songwriter. Early in her career, Jeannie's deeply moving vocals aptly earned her the nickname of “Miss Country Soul”. Jeannie's recording of “Don't Touch Me” not only topped the country music charts, but also earned her a Grammy Award for the “Best Country Vocal Performance by a Female”. It is ranked at No. 97 in the book Country Music's 500 Greatest Singles published by the Country Music Foundation, and it's also included in The Stories Behind Country Music's All-Time Greatest 100 Songs. Welcome to Episode 78 of Nooks and Crannies! Post-Concussed Canadian Election Analysis vis a vi How Afghanistan Fell and Why it was our Fault, with Mandatory Labour Day Weather Analysis and New Cullah Tunes :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Yup, got number “who the hell knows” and Friday got fleas, so..that means its time to podcast with Evan…right?? Kicking things off with our N&C standard, mandatory weather discussions! Find out how Evan almost got ate by a tree, and also how matty got concussion number I dunno lets say 43.. We felt it incumbent to discuss Afghanistan and the geo-political fallout resulting from America pulling the tent pegs and cowardly abandoning the people to the ravishes of the Taliban, and ISIS, they are still a thing folks. We then cover some of the possible geo-political ramifications in the region and the inroads that Russia and China have already made (called a Power Vacuum, its not as good as a Dyson) Then Post-Concussed Matty and Mildly-Hungover Evan the soon to be birthday boy who is about to turn 39, ram through our tri-annual CANADIAN FEDERAL ELECTION Coverage!! Ring the goal buzzer, send the zamboni out, yup..us polite Canucks are getting ready to line up in an orderly fashion to cast our vote in this largely unwanted and unnecessary elec**cough, Power Grab, cough**tion Ending things off with a pathetic little Labour Day shout out, when in fact May Day is the real radical time. Brand new music from Cullah, happy belated birthday buddy, thanks for keeping it funky ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Nooks and Crannies “Modi” episode (67): https://nooksandcrannies.podbean.com/e/67-punjab-demonstrations-explained-a-bit-and-why-general-strikes-are-arousing-to-matty-woo/ American Prestige (pod): https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/american-prestige/id1574741668 Couple of Matty's Guest Spots: Ignorance was Bliss (w/the Fabu Kate): Bottling up the Weird https://iwbpodcast.com/2021/09/02/349/ Mouse and Weens (with the Cali Sisters Jo and Julienne): “Matty from Nooks and Crannies on UFOs, ESP, Botanicals, Bonobo Sex, Orgasm Boxes, Indigenous Groups, Racial Classification, Brains & CTE” ya..we covered some ground: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/mouse-and-weens-601243/episodes/matty-from-nooks-and-crannies-94034439 :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: N&C Links All The Episodes https://nooksandcrannies.podbean.com All Our Links in One Place https://linktr.ee/nooksandcrannies Drop us a line: Nooksandcranniespod@gmail.com Tweet a little Tweet at Us: https://twitter.com/NooksCrannie Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/nooksandcranniespodcast Ponder Evan's Blurry Pictures: https://www.instagram.com/nooks_and_crannies_pod/ Find Nooks and Crannies on Spotify Follow, Rate and Review on Podchaser (please!) Email a voicemail message to celticpodcast@gmail.com Sheryl Schopfer emailed: "Dear Marc Gunn, I am a newly caught-up listener, having found the Irish & Celtic music Podcast last summer and been listening to the entire back catalog over the past year, along with the Renaissance Festival Podcast (how I originally found your numerous podcast projects) and the Celtic Christmas Podcast.  I greatly appreciate what you do with the podcast, airing music of wide-ranging musicians I would not discover otherwise. You asked in this most recent episode (the first I listened to when it was actually released; I really did just catch up) whether we listen with others or alone.  I share podcasts and individual episodes I like, but no one I know listens to podcasts as much as I do.  So, I have taken to sharing individual songs with people, and noting that I discovered them through this podcast.  As for what I do while listening (another question of yours), this is usually working on art for a comic page or going for a walk. Anyway, thank you so much for your podcasts and for the music they introduce to listeners like myself!  :-)" Mathew Solomon emailed some photos: "A Bostonian expat cooking in Istanbul while listening to your podcast. Hey Marc! I've been listening to your podcast for about a year now. I am not Irish by any means, but traditional Irish music has always held a special place in my heart. Its warmth, human spirit, and general optimism despite hardship is a source of comfort and inspiration. My hometown of Boston has a rich history of Irish music, and one of my favorite local haunts is the Burren in Somerville, a traditional Irish pub with regular Irish music featuring local and international artists. Currently I am making a new home for myself abroad, in Istanbul, and your podcast has been a reliable way to help me feel grounded and at home in this new, exhilarating city. I am an avid home cook, and I always look forward to a new episode to give me more wonderful music to listen to while cooking. Below are pictures of some traditional Turkish meals I have cooked while listening to your podcast, and the view from my balcony from which Irish music can be heard emanating. I am also a musician, but not one who would fit naturally into the traditional Irish folk band. Anyone who wants to help me find a way to fit trombone into an Irish folk sound, give me a call! Thank you for spreading such excellent music; I just finished the latest episode (#520) and I am already looking forward to the next one. Cheers, sláinte, and serefe!"
