-Apparently misleading protest videos are welcome to stay on Facebook now. Meta's Oversight Board has ruled that the company was right to leave up a manipulated video that made footage of a Serbian protest look like it took place in Holland and was in support of Rodrigo Duterte, former president of the Philippines. -Qualcomm just revealed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the appropriately-named second member of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 line. This follows the Gen 5 Elite, which was first revealed back in September. The standard Gen 5 is still a powerful mobile system-on-a-chip with a top clock speed of 3.8GHz. -The infamous "Kumma" children's AI teddy bear, once an expert in BDSM and knife-fetching, is back on sale. The company claims the toy now has stronger child safety protections in place. The Singapore-based FoloToy suspended sales of Kumma last week after a research group published an eyebrow-raising report. Learn more about your ad choices.

Also, Microsoft's latest earnings call left analysts baffled as execs dodged questions about multibillion-dollar AI losses and the real story behind OpenAI's ballooning deficit.26H1! Now confirmed by the release notes of a Windows Update And the Dev channel will soon switch over to 26H1 testing, with Beta moving to 25H2 (from 24H2) Expectations? It's our annual horror spectacular, and this year the Munsons are joined by Stephanie Malone of the Morbidly Beautiful podcast to celebrate the chilling brilliance of Brad Dourif. From his legendary voice work as Chucky to a career packed with unforgettable roles across mainstream Hollywood and various horror franchises, Dourif has carved a place in cinematic nightmare history. We debate our favorite (and least favorite) Child's Play entries, dive into his uncanny ability to channel raw emotion into villains like his roles in Mississippi Burning and Chucky, and explore how even his “non-horror” films often circle back to real-life terror. Along the way, we unpack his fascinating backstory—his learning disability that ironically led to a stint as a college instructor, his early inspiration from his actress mother, and his royal treatment of his cats, Snapdragon and Honey Mustard. Stephanie helps us dissect Rob Zombie's polarizing take on the Halloween franchise, while the Munsons celebrate a career that's equal parts brilliant, bizarre, and blood-soaked. We close with a nod to Dourif's well-earned retirement: a horror legend content to hang with his cats, enjoy life as Chucky, and share the screen with his daughter. How does he rank on the Munson Meter? Listen to find out.

In this week's episode, we're diving into the world of apples with someone who lives and breathes them every single day. Our guest is Austin Fowler of Fowler Farms in upstate New York — a farm that's been in continuous operation since 1858. That's six generations of the Fowler family devoted to one crop, one passion, and one mission: growing apples of the highest quality.Think about that for a moment — six generations! The Civil War was still on the horizon when the Fowler family planted their first trees. Since then, they've weathered depressions, recessions, blights, storms, and the constant shifting demands of consumers — and through it all, they've not only survived, but thrived.Fowler Farms is known not only for honoring tradition but also for pushing innovation in apple growing. They've helped introduce new varieties that consumers now love, adopted cutting-edge growing practices, and built a legacy that has shaped the apple industry in New York and far beyond. In this episode, Austin will take us into the orchard to talk about what it's really like to grow apples in the modern era — the science, the challenges, the weather, and of course, the joy of bringing in a harvest that might end up on your kitchen table. We'll also talk about how tastes in apples are changing, why some varieties explode in popularity while others quietly fade away, and what it means to carry a family legacy into the next generation. So whether you're a fan of Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji, Empire, or one of the many newer apples like Snapdragon that are making waves in the produce aisle, you'll want to stay tuned. By the end of this episode, you'll have a new appreciation for the people, the history, and the hard work behind every single apple you bite into.

The AYN Thor is a modern love letter to the DS and 3DS era of handhelds, specifically it feels and looks similar to a Nintendo "NEW" 3DS XL, but with way more horsepower under the hood. You're looking at a crisp 6‑inch 1080p AMOLED up top, a 3.9‑inch AMOLED touch screen below, and internals that scale from a Snapdragon 865 up to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with 16 gigs of RAM and a terabyte of storage. Toss in Hall‑effect sticks, stacked triggers, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and a beefy 6000mAh battery, and you've got a dual‑screen handheld that's not just for nostalgia — it's a fantastic multi-tasking emulation and Android gaming monster.Thor: https://rh-go.link/AYN-ThorThor Accessories:https://rh-go.link/AYN-Thor-Accessories_Packhttps://rh-go.link/AYN-Thor-Lanyardhttps://rh-go.link/AYN-Thor-Carrying-Casehttps://rh-go.link/AYN-Thor-TPU-Griphttps://rh-go.link/AYN-Thor-Soft-Pouchhttps://rh-go.link/AYN-Thor-TPU-Shellhttps://rh-go.link/AYN-Thor-Screen-Protectors Configs:https://rh-go.link/AYN-Thor-Litehttps://rh-go.link/AYN-Thor-Basehttps://rh-go.link/AYN-Thor-ProThor Stylus: https://rh-go.link/Mini_Android_Stylus‪@RetroGameCorps‬ Input Delay Tests:  https://www.reddit.com/r/SBCGaming/comments/1o8mbmn/more_thor_input_delay_testing_because_why_not/ 〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰✨Became a Supporterhttps://patreon.com/RetroHandhelds or Discord sub• Access to Patron only Discord chat & marketplace• Earn merch, enter giveaways, and get free stuff• Device Modding Services

Oh, and beware: Xbox Game Pass fans are cancelling their subs due to a price hike! With Gareth Myles and Ted Salmon Join us on Mewe Feedback, Fallout and Contributions Ian Barton (Quick mention as now done elsewhere) Ian was particularly enthused about all things Linux and Open Source so was one of our more active members here in TA. He taught me much about all sorts of tech stuff - a kind chap - very kind - and thoughtful. RIP Dennis Schreiner on Linux Mint and BeeLink Sluggishness I just wanted to say that I have a Beelink with Ryzen 5800 U and Linux Mint is not running well for me on it either. I think Mint is the Problem since it switched to Ubuntu. I have since had a lot of performance issues with it. Also in the Top Linux List it's going downhill. I wouldn't now recommend Mint anymore for beginners and low-spec'd PCs. Since I switched my BeeLink to Fedora Linux (KDE Plasma version) it's very smooth-running again. Also Fedora is pretty easy to operate. Bazzite and Nobara are also beginner-friendly with low spec requirements. I'm enjoying TA, thank you :) CachyOS Ujjwal Sehgal on Retroid Pocket Classic I bought this thinking I'd use it purely for retro gaming but it's starting to become a favourite overall retro gadget. Beautiful OLED touchscreen. Runs Android 14. Google Play store present. Snapdragon G1 Gen 2. 128GB of storage. microSD slot. Icing on the cake is the head phone jack. I find myself using it to listen to music when I'm away from my phone. The squareish screen is great for watching old 4:3 TV content. It kind of feels like what GameBoy could have been if it were released today! I remember using my original PSP in the same way when I was younger. Feels like a nostalgic digital detox device - as the screen aspect ratio is awful for email, WhatsApp or any social media apps! Summary of "Fork in Your Ear" Podcast Episode (Tim & Nate) This episode dives into fall vibes amid aging pains (creaky bones, coffee slurps) and tech woes, with Tim and Nate riffing on updates, laughs, and hype. Runtime ~3 hours of unfiltered chaos—editing hell for Nate. Life Updates Aches & Updates: Tim's iOS 26.0.1 update bricked his iPhone (boot loop, wiped/restored), Mac (crashy shutdowns), and dad's iPad (security patch fail)—"Windows-level disaster." Nate dodges it. Both gripe about body breakdowns (Tim: rib pain post-PT; Nate: car door twinge). Matchmaking Magic: Tim's playing Cupid for friend Robert (Xbox gamer) and Jessica's pal Winter (PC gamer)—siloed texts, Discord voice chats, Destiny 2 setup woes (Bungie name linking). High-fives with Jessica; they're vibing over Arizona iced tea. Tentative game night/Diablo 4 co-op; hopes for "rabbits" (post-rant: wholesome joy). Misc: Tim's niece's 2nd bday (Bluey gift hunt); haunted house tours delayed (friend in Turkey). Nate: Bengals tanking NFL season ("lost cause"); Dodgers playoffs competitive. Tron: Ares tickets (Oct 8; 3D laser IMAX; avoiding spoilers/merch glow-up). Entertainment Food Fight: KFC's "11 herbs/spices" spilled by a descendant (sage, cloves, etc., plus MSG in batter)—Tim sneezes mid-read. TV/Binge: Tim digs Chad Powers (Hulu comedy: Glen Powell as disgraced QB in Mrs. Doubtfire disguise; showboating fumble premise—real NFL bloopers nod). Nate pans Naked Gun reboot (PG-13 gags miss R-rated edge; 2-hour regret). Simpsons Movie 2 (2027; Tim hopes for finale/OG writers like Conan). Bond Brouhaha: Amazon edits gun-free James Bond box art (e.g., Brosnan Photoshop)—hypocritical with gun-logo/merch (e.g., GoldenEye collector's gun). Conspiracy: Search filter prep? Tim rants: Spy franchise sans guns = absurd. Tech Foldable Fever: Rumors of iPhone Fold (two Airs hinged; magnets likely). Nate gushes Z Fold 7 (thinner 215g/8" screen; 2,600 nits; Snapdragon 8 Elite ~40% faster; crease minimal—but wobbly camera bump gripes). Specs: 12GB RAM, 200MP cam; Minecraft hitches (update?). AI & Gadgets: Runway Gen-3 video AI (8-sec clips; ethics rage—Tim: tool for originals, not deepfakes like "Tilly Norwood" Comic-Con stunt). Coast USB-C rechargeables ($25/8-pack; testing in toothbrush/trimmer/Xbox controller—clever case). OS Hell: iOS 26 unification mixed (Watch/iPad laggy; TV fonts tiny). Free Xbox Cloud w/ads rumored (pre/mid/post-rolls? Tim fears retro-ad hell in raids). Video Games Game Pass Glow-Up (or Down): Tiers revamp Nov 4 (Essential $10: 50+ games/cross-play; Premium $15: 200+; Ultimate $30: 400+/day-one Ubisoft/EA/Fortnite—up $10). CoD excluded 2025 ($300M loss last year); no PC-only. Tim: Value for heavy users; Nate: Bait-switch fatigue. Free ad-tier Cloud incoming? Tim's Plays: Lego Voyagers (co-op puzzle; visual storytelling, 3-5hr cute vibes). Hollow Knight (30hr in: slow/janky start—5-8hr slog; soul mechanic shines; 7-8/10; Newgrounds art/jank from 2 devs). Jump Ship ($20 early access: Sea of Thieves/Helldivers space co-op; Zero-G repairs, grid Tetris, Star Fox branching—co-op chaos gold; single-player robot helper). Nate's Dips: Shapes (idle factory builder: shape-mining puzzles, web/Steam sync). Hollow Knight/Silksong (not his jam—zero onboarding). News/Hype: PS State of Play (Ascendant: Returnal roguelike; Wolverine: R-rated leaks confirmed, March '26—Hugh Jackman-esque actor; nuanced vs. Steve Blum growl debate). EA $55B buyout (Saudi royals/Kushner; fears for BioWare/Mass Effect, LGBTQ Apex retcons). Star Seeker Direct Oct 7. Cobra: The Awakening (Switch GI Joe cartoon vibe). GameStop PSA slab trade-in ($5K for Switch/Pokémon—WA weirdos). Wraps on Tron: Ares unspoiled joy (NIN Anaheim March; Disney ad dodges), with Tim's matchmaking glow and Nate's editing dread. Forked vibes: Pain, hype, and "fuck you" laughs.
