On this episode, I'm talking about a favorite of mine from when I was a teen, Band of the Hand (1986) a neo noir, action film directed by Paul Michael Glaser and produced by Michael Mann. Five teenage delinquents, a Vietnam Vet and a drug lord all in the urban jungle of Miami. Part Mod Squad, part A-Team and part Miami Vice makes for a fun underrated 80s classic! I will get back to horror on the next episode, I promise. The artist on my podcast playlist is Bob Dylan.

"Band of the Hand" is a B Movie-esque crime film where "Miami Vice" and "Scarface" meet but at six feet apart. 1986 is the time and punk-juveniles finally get their smarts straight and decide to fight crime for once in their lives and it turns out to be something being proud of about. Nice premise, impactful soundtrack and lukewarm cinematography, Stephen Carpenter aka Steftone of Deftones joins me as we discuss a small wild ride of the late '80s. He spreads the message of antiheroes doing good, comedy within suspenseful scenes and how you can still check out a film without having to really watch it. PJ's first ever pick out of the bag is "Band of the Hand" from 1986. Produced by Michael Mann and directed by Paul Michael Glaser, this is a flick about a group of troubled kids who get selected for a special rehab program in the jungle and then go wage a war on drug dealers. This movie actually has a fare share of notable actors including Stephen Lang, James Remar, Leon and "Larry" Fishburne. So come with us on this trip to the spectacular decade that was the 80's and find out if PJ also thinks this movie is better than Star Wars. Band of the Hand (1986) is about as ’80s a movie as we can get. Produced by Michael Mann and set in Miami, it’s the tale of a Vietnam Vet (Stephen Lang) who whips a team of juvenile delinquents into shape by training them in the Everglades and then helping them end the reign of […]
