BashTech Radio 78 with Materielle Bio: Materielle is a Los Angeles-based techno artist whose deep, dub-driven sound draws heavily from the rhythmic syncopations and atmospheric textures of 90s Detroit techno. Fusing elements of heavy, hypnotic basslines with intricate patterns and immersive reverb, Materielle's music taps into the raw energy and experimental edge of underground techno, with an emphasis on subtle detail and emotional depth. A self-taught producer with a decade-long career in music technology, Materielle has cultivated a distinctive sonic palette shaped by the teachings of pioneering artists like Rødhåd, Claudio PRC, and Richie Hawtin. The project's name, Materielle, is inspired by the delicate art of weaving—an analogy for the artist's approach to music, where sound is crafted through layers and textures, much like fabrics are woven together to create something new. Since 2019, Materielle has honed her craft as a DJ, transitioning seamlessly into production with her track singles, Satin and Organza on Delusional Records and the release of her debut EP, Fabrique on Northern Parallels. The EP, which features the tracks Nylon and Neoprene, with remixes from Mike Derer and Raytek, has garnered attention for its unique blend of hypnotic grooves and emotionally charged atmospherics. Materielle's recent release, a remix of Orly Gal's track, The Man Without a Face, was chosen by Beatport for their November 2024 Techno Shortlist (peak/driving), further solidifying her growing presence in the techno scene. In early 2025, she contributed the track Kevlar to the Synthetik Minds VA Compilation, a benefit release supporting Los Angeles fire relief efforts. The compilation features a lineup of major artists from across the global techno scene, underscoring Materielle's commitment to both artistic collaboration and community impact. Through her work, Materielle invites listeners to immerse themselves in a world of intricate sound design, where the boundaries between space and rhythm blur, creating a meditative yet driving experience. With an approach rooted in both technology and art, Materielle continues to explore the intersection of sound, texture, and human emotion within the ever-evolving techno landscape. Materielle has played LA Compound, Re/Form, SXTCY, Bang Bang SD, Techno Taco Tuesday Las Vegas, and various LA undergrounds. She has supported Daria Kolosova, Ryan Elliott, Lindsey Herbert, Annika Wolfe, and Nur Jaber. Here at AIR, we kicked off festival season in with Sonar Lisboa, the little sister to the famed Barcelona festival, which took place in early April this year and featured acts like Max Cooper, Jennifer Cardini, Juliana Huxtable, and this month's esteemed guest, @MarcelDettmann. A techno veteran whose name is synonymous with big room sound, Marcel recently debuted a new live set, his first ever foray into live performance, the result of a pandemic spent toiling away in the studio and crafting his landmark album Fear of Programming, which formed the foundation for his live act. At Sonar Lisboa, he presented a new version of his project, which he calls My Own Shadow, a mix of his own productions, field recordings, vocal elements, and on the fly craftsmanship. Marcel and I sat down together in Lisbon to discuss his new live set and the creativity behind it, and how his musical and personal life is shifting over years. A big thanks to the team at Sonar Lisboa for the invite to this year's edition! ++ MUSIC: "Linux" - Marcel Dettmann (2013) "Water" - Marcel Dettmann ft. There is a great deal of work being done in the arena of manufacturing in space. Many of the companies working to place private space stations in orbit say that manufacturing is one of the functions that can make them commercially viable. Aboard the ISS, several additive manufacturing … or 3D printing … processes have been studied. On this edition of The Ex Terra Podcast, Tom Patton talks with Ryan Elliott, Co-Founder and CEO of In Orbit Aerospace, a company building the orbital infrastructure to create new and improved products in microgravity, and deliver them back to Earth. Manufacturing in space can be beneficial in many areas, ranging from creating new pharmaceuticals and improved semiconductors to fiber optics and 3D bioprinting. In Orbit Aerospace is taking a new approach to manufacturing in space, acting as an intermediary to transport equipment and materials in space, and returning them to Earth. "We want to be the third-party logistics provider for manufacturers who want to make these products in orbit," Elliott said. "We provide them the transportation, the power, the data and the return back to the ground." In Orbit Aerospace plans to be able to take manufacturing equipment and raw materials to both crewed space stations and autonomous facilities. Manufacturing in space has been going on since the days of Skylab. But it has been mostly government funded. Now, Elliott says, the dynamic is changing, and the private sector is taking a much larger role in the sector. In Orbit Aerospace has already signed its first customer, which Elliott was not a liberty to divulge now, but he did say that it's a biotech firm. That mission is currently targeted for launch in October 2024 aboard a Falcon 9 rocket. How does what happens in space affect your everyday life? The Ex Terra podcast is dedicated to introducing you to many of the interesting people involved in the commercial space industry, and taking you behind the scenes with many of the companies making significant contributions to the new space economy. The podcast is available on Anchor, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Audible, Breaker, Overcast, Pocketcasts, Radio Public, and most other podcasting platforms.

The London-born, Berlin-based artist masterfully straddles a heady mix of house, techno, and disco that has seen him become a regular at legendary spots like Panorama Bar/Berghain and Concrete while his output sits in the boxes of DJs like Ryan Elliott, The Black Madonna, DVS1 and Gerd Janson. With a record store background, it's unsurprising that Parker's instinct to dig is paired with an unapologetically high standard when it comes to track selection. As a result, he's a DJ who draws on undiscovered classics as much as he does unreleased material during a typical set. “Recorded live and direct from my Kreuzberg living room” Artist: @spencerparker

Born and raised on the Southwest side of Detroit he was exposed to electronic music at a young age. Listening to The Wizzard as he fell asleep at night not knowing who, what, when, where and why this music was so motivational. The music being played in this area at that time was a mix of Latin Freestyle and Bass(Detroit Techno). As a product of his environment he began Djing Latin Freestyle and Bass starting at the age of 16, right around the time (93 or 94) where he was exposed to his first rave. At that point he decided to cash in his Latin Freestyle records for House and Techno. Early in his career of Djing he held residencies at local after hours around Detroit. Such as 420, Club 911, Rehab and Body's just to name a few. Also A.O.D. held weekly residencies at local clubs around Detroit such as OSLO and The Works. Around 2000 he began A.O.D.( Arsenal of Democracy) after reading a Detroit history book. At that time he wanted start doing events. His first party was NYE 2001 at an empty loft on Grand River and Woodward. A.O.D. from that point forward became to be know for one off parties around the city of Detroit show casein talent from the likes of Ryan Elliott, The Surgeon, The Advent, Tony Rohr, Scan 7, Adam Marshall, Barem, Camea, Lee Foss, and most recently The Wolf + Lamb Crew, NRP SoulClap just to name a few. Around 2005 Vinnie along with A.O.D. Moved to Chicago and started to do networking there to set up shows for friends and artists alike. Moving back to Detroit in 2008 You can find Vinnie playing a wide variety of music, from Classic Detroit Techno and House to Hard Techno to Minimal but lately he has developed a feel for Tech House mixed with Deep(discofunkyslowbanginwhateva) House. Moving into 2010 Vinnie along with A.O.D. has taken over the reigns at The Works in Detroit where he is the booking manager. Vinnie as of late has multiple residencies in and around Mi. You can catch Vinnie every Monday at The Flight Club most Fridays at The Works or catch his monthly in Grand Rapids and a monthly at The TV Bar also watch out as he dips in and out of Chicago frequently and playing random events in Detroit. Currently dipping his feet into the Miami Beach night life. Already having a residency at The Pelican Cafe on Ocean Drive. Bringing a lot of experience with him to an already saturated market "we will see what I can get myself into here"... Be on the look out for any events involving A.O.D.
