What do swamp volleyball, software debugging, and self-doubt have in common? A lot more than you'd think. In this episode, Anne sits down with Kari Sipinen (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kari-sipinen), a Finnish-born engineer, world-champion swamp volleyball player, and all-around discomfort-zone explorer, who has turned mud, mistakes, and mindfulness into a philosophy for life.Kari shares how wading waist-deep in the muck during the World Championship of Swamp Volleyball taught him about teamwork, humility, and the magic of taking action even when you can't see solid ground. (Spoiler: sometimes the best life lessons happen when you're stuck in the mud—literally.)Drawing from his work as an embedded software engineer, Kari compares debugging to personal growth—each problem is like peeling an onion, revealing new layers of understanding beneath the surface. He unpacks his love of intuition—which he describes as being “in learning”—and how listening to your inner data can lead to surprising breakthroughs. In This EpisodeThe connection between engineering, intuition, and personal growthWhy curiosity matters more than confidenceWhy he call it “imposter phenomenon” (not syndrome)How turning on your metaphorical flashlight helps you illuminate the next step toward your dreams.Beyond engineering, Kari is a champion on and off the court, winning the Swamp Volleyball World Championship in 2019 and sharing his love of music through a 62+ hour Spotify playlist. An ordinary Savonian with a Renaissance spirit, he is committed to legacy, openness, and intellectual humility. Please join me in welcoming to the stage — Kari Sipinen!
Have you ever seen good advice ignored, with hilarious results?I heard about a boy who camped with a new group of friends in a campground he knew well. It flooded frequently, and was nicknamed, “The Swamp.” All of the adults and other boys ignored his advice to camp on higher ground, and they pitched their tents in the easy, sandy soil.Finding the highest ground, he slept through the night to the lullaby sound of rhythmic drumming rain, and woke to find the camp a wet, soggy shambles, while he was high and dry. Many times, easiest is not best, and it is good to listen to the voice of experience. For information about raising your son into a godly man, visit Trail Life USA or RaisingGodlyBoys.com.

Last week, news broke that roughly 250 U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents were headed to south Louisiana for an operation dubbed “The Swamp Sweep.” As agents aim to arrest close to 5,000 undocumented people, fear and concern are growing within immigrant communities, and among educators and advocates. To help us understand what's ahead — and what rights people have — WWNO's Sara Henegan spoke with Marco Balducci, an immigration attorney in New Orleans, and Laila Hlass, professor of Immigration Law at Tulane University.Report cards are out for Louisiana's public schools. The state's overall score inched up again this year, and many schools earned higher grades. But that's expected to change next year under the state's new accountability system.WWNO and WRKF's education reporter, Aubri Juhasz, joins us to break down these findings. __Today's episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Diane Mack. Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin has a decision to make. It can't come soon enough for Florida fans, who hope the Gators' top target to replace Billy Napier is heading to Gainesville. Kiffin will announce his decision Saturday, when Florida and Florida State will square off in the Swamp on Senior Day. A meeting of longtime rivals with plenty of bad blood between them will be overshadowed by Kiffin, who could decide to remain in Oxford or head to LSU to leave the Gators pivoting to their backup plan. As two fanbases brace to be left at the altar, Edgar and Mark discuss the dramatic days ahead during the latest Swamp Things. Does Lane Kiffin know where he's going? (00:00) How does Kiffin make announcement? (6:45) If not Kiffin, then who? Auburn Football gave quarterback Deuce Knight his first start and Knight did not disappoint. The Auburn QB took advantage of the overwhelmed Bears defense with four rushing TDs and threw for two more. Does Knight's play give you hope for Auburn's future? Auburn fans: Do you think you will use Deuce Knight in the Iron Bowl? Also, is there a chance Hugh Freeze was playing Auburn's third best QB this season? The Oklahoma Sooners took another step towards the College Football Playoffs with a 17-6 win over the Missouri Tigers. Oklahoma Football is now a win over LSU away from getting in the 12-team field. Today, we're diving headfirst into the cesspool of corruption that defines the elite club you and I were never invited to join. President Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, a 421-1 House vote forcing the Justice Department to unleash the unclassified horrors of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's world—flight logs, trafficking networks, immunity deals, and the names of the powerful who danced with devils. But Mike Johnson's sudden “national security” excuse? Who's he protecting? Victims are screaming for justice, Trump flip-flopped from “hoax” to “nothing to hide,” and Larry Summers just quit OpenAI after admitting he's in the files. Megyn Kelly's calling out media complicity, and survivors like Jena-Lisa Jones are begging Trump to invite them to the Oval. This isn't transparency—it's a cover-up.Then there's Kristi Noem, the DHS secretary who allegedly funneled $220 million to a firm tied to her own campaign, bypassing every rule in the book. ProPublica's got the receipts, and Jasmine Crockett's not mincing words—corruption's the name of the game. Noem's not alone; the swamp is a hydra, and every head we cut off reveals another. It's the club of the elite, where money and power reign, and we're left holding the bill.Patriots, the Republic's on life support, and the stench of the swamp is choking us out. From Epstein's shadow to Noem's graft, it's everywhere, and they're not even trying to hide it anymore. George Carlin said it best: “It's a big club, and you ain't in it.” Well, today we're crashing the party. Lock in, bring the rage, or watch your country turn into their playground. This isn't a show—it's a declaration of war.
