Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as Ben Richards, a wrongly convicted man forced to compete in a brutal, televised death game in a future where media and government control blur disturbingly. With satirical jabs at reality TV, authoritarianism, and media manipulation, this cult classic dives headfirst into a neon-soaked nightmare of entertainment gone lethal. Is freedom just another broadcast, or is survival the ultimate ratings winner? It's not everyday that you get to talk philosophy with your favorite 70's TV icon. I had a chance to sit down with actor, director, writer, artist, and philanthropist Paul Michael Glaser. As a kid growing up I must have watched every episode of Starsky and Hutch and I was always Team Starsky. We talked about creativity, his beliefs, mortality, and resilience. He is a great example of someone who tries to stay in the moment. At 82, Paul is still actively writing and he is an accomplished artist whose work is shown in galleries. I really enjoyed the conversation. On a side note- for my brother Eddie, who upon finding out I was going to talk with Paul had one question he wanted me to ask him, " what happened to Huggy Bear?" . I don't know I didn't ask him that. Paul Michael Glaser Art Facebook Instagram Paul's children's book Chrystallia and the Source of Light PaulMichaelGlaser.org Learn more about your ad choices. As I began to prepare for my recent episode with Jason from Binge Movies on Fascism in Cinema, it occurred to me that this would be a fascinating ongoing series in the next year or two in American history. For the next episode of the series, we are looking at authoritarian violence and the idea of due process in our society, and how it can be reflected in films. Joining me for this episode is Darin Lundberg from NostalgiaCast and Back to Bluey, and listen to us discuss Don Siegel's "Dirty Harry", Paul Michael Glaser's "The Running Man", and Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises". It's a very different discussion, but one worth taking in. I hope you enjoy!

Actor, director and writer Paul Michael Glaser sits down with Frank MacKay and discusses his five decade long career on this episode of The Frank Mackay Show!
This week marks our first foray into Stephen King's pseudonym, Richard Bachman, with "The Running Man." We begin the episode discussing Richard Bachman and why King felt it necessary to write under a different name. Then, we get into the history of the screen adaptation by covering the various directors who tried to make this work, and how Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser) saved the day. This is hardly a passion project, bu this movie is FUN! After we discuss the development of the film, we discuss the film itself including all of the over-the-top stalkers and of course Mick Fleetwood. We finish the episode by each pairing the film with another for a pair of solid double bills!Thank you so much for listening!Created by Spike Alkire & Jake KelleyTheme Song by Breck McGoughFollow us on Instagram: @DoubleBillChillLetterboxd: FartsDomino44
Send us a textOn the podcast this time, Steven and Sean are taking down the man, one tv show at a time. We watched the 1987 film from Paul Michael Glaser, The Running Man.The year is 2017. Reality television has grown out of control. Sadistic game show hosts control the country. Real blood is spilled. Lives are lost. "Starsky et Hutch", sorti en 1975. L'histoire met en scène un duo de policiers aussi différents que complémentaires. Mais c'est surtout grâce à leur voiture que la série va décoller, une banale Ford Torino. Rien de très sexy, mais la production a l'idée géniale de la colorer en rouge avec une grande bande blanche. Génial, mais Paul Michael Glaser, qui joue le rôle de Starsky, déteste la voiture...

Welcome to Cyberpunk Cinema – the Definitive Dive into the Dark Future of Science Fiction. I am your host, Anthony La Pira, and I will be taking you on a cinematic journey through the sprawling cityscapes, the crippling datastorms, and the cybernetic implants that encompass all things Cyberpunk. In this week's episode, I will be breaking-down the 1987 dystopian cyberpunk action film, The Running Man – directed by Paul Michael Glaser, written by Steven de Souza, based on the novel by Stephen King, and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Conchita Alonso, Yaphet Kotto, Jim Brown, Jesse THE BODY Ventura, and Richard Dawson. In a dystopian America, a falsely convicted policeman gets his shot at freedom when he must forcibly participate in a TV game show where convicts, runners, must battle killers for their freedom. This movie absolutely rocks! It's one of Arnold's better films that no one really talks about. The dystopian cyberpunk vibes are high on this bad boy, as Ben Richards, the Butcher of Bakersfield, must survive a rigged TV game show that has captured the hearts and minds of the future America of 2017. Chased by “stalkers”, the game show contestants can earn their freedom and get a pardon, if they don't die first. So, do me a favor – it's time to access your cranial jacks, boot up your Ono-Sendai Cyberspace 7, and slap on your damn mirror-shades. On this episode, I'm talking about a favorite of mine from when I was a teen, Band of the Hand (1986) a neo noir, action film directed by Paul Michael Glaser and produced by Michael Mann. Five teenage delinquents, a Vietnam Vet and a drug lord all in the urban jungle of Miami. Part Mod Squad, part A-Team and part Miami Vice makes for a fun underrated 80s classic! I will get back to horror on the next episode, I promise. The artist on my podcast playlist is Bob Dylan.

We talk about what Disney taught him about effective collaboration, including the idea of "plussing" to ensure the best outcome. He candidly shares how process and structure don't stifle creativity but ensure it's repeatable, and actually helps creatives get good work out into the world. We talk about the unique position we are in as humans to tell stories, the role mission plays in mobilizing a team, and how empathy is required by artists. Beauty is created when you add to others, not when you are negative to them.Empathy in creativity allows bridges to be built and connections to be made between different experiences of different people.Storytelling is a power - stories create our reality. What would happen if we stop telling the apocalypse stories, and start to use the technology in the stories to enable society to flourish. There is process and structure, even in creativity. It is not a bad thing, it is a way to get replicable results no matter what industry you are in. Rules are necessary for creativity to flourish."Creativity, innovation, the advancement of ideas and collaboration happen on both sides of the brain. In order to be able to create powerfully, it's got to be the head, heart and hands." — Dave Zaboski About Dave Zaboski, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Laetro.comDave Zaboski is the co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Laetro.com, a tech-enabled community of the world's finest creatives serving enterprise customers with best in class design services.
