In this lyrical picture book, readers follow one boy through his life as he returns to the seashore beside his home. The boy likes to think, and his thoughts turn into questions. He brings these questions to the sea. At times, he thinks he can hear the sea whisper to him: Dream. Love. Be. So he does. He dreams—a young boy imagining all that he might do. He loves—a teenager, reaching out from a lonely place to make friends. He allows himself to just be—now grown, sharing the seashore with his daughter. A celebration of quiet curiosity, The Boy and the Sea invites readers to ask questions and live their way into the answers.

"Listen to [the pull of something more]. If you push it away and tamp it down, you might not feel the pull. It might go away. You might become so immune to the pull of it and pushing it down that you don't feel it anymore. But I think recognizing it, feeling it and listening to it and not being afraid to go toward it... that is where the adventure is." - Camille Andros Camille is a children's book author and a mother of six. “Once there was a boy who lived by the sea.The sea was old and wise.” These words are the beginning of an exquisite new children’s book that is coming out next month, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1419749404/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=3in30podcast-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=1419749404&linkId=876e31210b81d38a06ba10f15cd92830 (The Boy and the Sea) written by Camille Andros. Camille has become a personal friend of mine, and so I got to read the book when it was still in PDF form, and it honestly brought tears to my eyes. The illustrations by Amy June Bates are magical, and the message of slowing down and listening to the whisperings inside of your soul is so powerful. Camille is a mother of six who lives in North Carolina. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1419749404/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=3in30podcast-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=1419749404&linkId=876e31210b81d38a06ba10f15cd92830 (The Boy and the Sea) is her fifth published children’s book, and I am so excited to talk with her about how to listen to the whisperings of our intuition and follow the pull of the tides that are tugging at our hearts and guiding us towards a deeper understanding of ourselves. *** -3 Takeaways to Find and Listen to your Intuition-Camille sums up a daily practice that we can do to strengthen our connection to our inner voice and to God and to listen to your intuition. Those steps are: 1. Find and trust your inner voice. Carve out time every day to be still and find to your intuition. Try to make this time consistent, whether that’s in the shower, first thing in the morning, after your baby goes down to a nap, or at the beginning of your lunch break at work. Make it a consistent routine to be still, to make a quick gratitude list to get you tuned in, or to visualize being filled up and warmed by divine love. 2. Once you’ve tapped into that inner voice, ask a question. The question that Camille often asks is, "What do I need to know right now?" Then she does her best to empty her mind while keeping that question at the forefront, and she notices the thoughts, feelings, and impressions that she has. 3. Take action on what you learn. Camille says she likes to write down the thoughts that come to her when she asks the question, and then she uses that list of thoughts to create the priorities for her day, week, or month. Sometimes she repeats affirmations that reinforce the message she was given, leaves post-its around the house with reminders, or sets a timer on her phone to go off at certain times during the day to remind her of what she is focusing on and to listen to her intuition. >>>Will you try any of these tips to find and listen to your intuition? Today I want to introduce you to the author of some of my new favorite picture books, Camille Andros. Camille is a writer, a traveler, a former EMT, and a mom of six. Yep, six. (So obviously, we're kindred spirits, since I have six, too.)
Camille Andros (@camdros) and Julie Morstad are the author and illustrator, respectively, of THE DRESS AND THE GIRL, a new picture book about a girl, a hand sewn dress, and a very long journey. It's also a book about memory and, specifically, the memories we associate with specific items in our life, be they unique or commonplace, unusual or beloved. Or, perhaps, a little bit of each. It's also a book that was inspired by some very significant memories, which you'll hear from our guests. You can access even more information about this book and its author illustrator by visiting www.matthewcwinner.com/podcast.
Camille Andros is used to juggling a lot of balls. As an author and mother of six, she often battles having a lot of important priorities and all at the same time. Not just in spite of this, but because of it, Camille has learned that in order to be "all in" and present with the task at hand, you have to practice the mindset of intentionality. Creating this mindset shift has enabled Camille to be a better author, mother, and work on her own self-development. Listen to learn how this is the case for Camille, as well as how she learned the importance of knowing her own "why" in all areas of her life, and about her new book The Dress and the Girl and its timely release during this important historical moment of immigration crises. "The preparation will meet your opportunity, and that is when you can have success. So, you need to work really hard and be ready for when you get that chance, because you never know when it’s going to come." Camille Andros is a woman of many interests including science, writing, and children (she has 6 of her own). For many years, she found herself focusing on one thing and then the other, all of which she loved and found fulfilling. But eventually, she found herself combining her passions into writing children's literature. She wants children to believe that they are smart and they can love science too, and her stories inspire just that and then some! Camille talks about her path towards getting published, how she believes in "a time and a season," the great importance for everyone to have hobbies and dreams, and the remarkable path her life has taken, one small step at a time! Oh, and you'll love Camille's view of how rejection can be a good sign that you're on the right path and how she has learned that slowing down actually helps her work.
