Season 5, Episode 712: What happens when creativity becomes both escape and healing? Dean Robert Holmes, a transmasculine author from St. Paul, Minnesota, uses writing to manage schizoaffective disorder and explore identity through fiction. Since 2020, he's written over 350 fanfics and 2.5 million words (that's equivalent to five copies of Stephen King's "It") before publishing his collection "Unlocked: Seven Titillating Tales of Gay Trans Love and Lust." Dean identifies as aegosexual, experiencing attraction only through third-person perspectives, and thrives in a relationship with his fiancée May through roleplay where he never portrays himself. In this conversation, Dean dives into his writing processes as a pantser who daydreams his way through stories. They discuss maladaptive daydreaming as a coping mechanism, the challenges of balancing creativity with social media, and how indie publishing has shattered traditional word count constraints (finally!). Both Dean and Ruan share experiences of losing mothers to suicide, which fuels an urgency in their writing careers. Dean's upcoming May release, "Treading Water," features a gender-fluid bi man and a plus-size woman with chronic pain navigating romance amid poverty and trauma. The book tackles serious themes while celebrating connection and joy, representation that's desperately needed in romance literature. Tune in to hear Dean read an excerpt from "Treading Water", his upcoming novel, and learn how writing serves as healing for both author and reader. Excerpt triggers: poverty, homelessness, explicit scene and language, chronic pain, body image issues, panic attacks, and mention of religion. Author Bio: Dean Robert Holmes (he/him) is an aegosexual, transmasculine author and artist who uses creativity to manage schizoaffective disorder. Like many alphabet porn purveyors, he got his start in the wonderful world of fan fiction. Through his saucy stories, he often explores psychological themes and the power of queer love. As someone who is autistic, fat, and disabled, he makes a point to represent those communities and possesses a strong belief in the healing potential of kink. After writing over 350 fan fics, including almost 200 requests and a feature on the celebrated podcast Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend, he recently self-published his first collection of short stories, "Unlocked: Seven Titillating Tales of Gay Trans Love and Lust," which is available at four bookstores throughout the Midwest. His debut novel, "Treading Water" will be released soon. Currently, he lives on stolen Dakota/Anishinaabe land, also known as St. Paul, MN, and enjoys spending time with his lovely partner, Mae. https://deanrobertholmes.com/ https://www.instagram.com/fandomtransmandom/ Dean Robert Holmes's Book: Unlocked: Seven Titillating Tales of Gay Trans Love and Lust (affiliate link) https://amzn.to/3LKtFxZ Ruan's Links, Newsletter Signup, Affiliate links and Deals: PodNation Podcast Affiliate link, Get 15% OFF with code podna15 on Ryze Coffee at https://www.ryzesuperfoods.com/ Support the show and get exclusive content Sign up for Ruan's Newsletters https://subscribepage.io/ruanwillow All Ruan's links and books: https://linktr.ee/RuanWillow Affiliate link, collect your body's health and sexual health info with a wearable device for men from Firm Tech 15% OFF with code ruan15 https://myfirmtech.com/ruanwillow

The OG Publisher's Blueprint for Building Partnerships That Actually LastYour affiliate program has hundreds of approved publishers, but only a handful are actively promoting you. Sound familiar? Stuart Miles, founder of Squirrel and former owner of Pocket-lint (which he grew to 12.5 million monthly readers before exiting), reveals why most affiliate managers are accidentally destroying publisher relationships before they even begin. Lee-Ann and Stuart discuss why product feeds matter more than commission rates, and the six tactical shifts that separate transactional affiliate programs from genuine partnerships that drive consistent revenue.Talking Points Include:The relevance test every affiliate manager fails – how understanding audience profiles transforms your outreach from spam into valuable partnership opportunitiesWhy making it harder for publishers to link to you kills conversions – the 15-minute friction point that costs you thousands in lost sales, and how removing barriers between story ideas and affiliate links changes everythingThe coffee shop approach to publisher relationships – why the best partnerships happen outside of product launches and promotional cycles, and what real-life relationship building looks like in 2026Listen to Find Out More About:Why standardised product feeds matter more than you think, and how retailers without them are losing visibility across major publisher platformsThe exact moment Stuart realised Pocket-lint competitors were stealing his affiliate links, and what Amazon's phone call revealed about attribution trackingHow international audience expansion forced Pocket-lint to build automated localisation, and why showing UK readers US pricing destroys conversion ratesThe pub test Stuart used with new journalists to determine if a story was actually worth publishing, and how this filter led to explosive audience growthWhy retailers that can't beat Amazon on price can still win publisher placements through customer service ratings and relevance scoringWhat happened when Stuart's team spent more time finding affiliate links than writing stories, and the efficiency breakthrough that led to Squirrel's creationCall to ActionReady to transform how you work with publisher partners? The strategies Stuart shared didn't come from theory – they came from two decades in the trenches building one of the world's most successful consumer technology publications. In a world that tells us to "get our own needs met," the real work of deep, lasting intimacy is actually relational. We aren't two individuals living side-by-side; we are co-creators of a shared sanctuary where your partner's ability to thrive is the very thing that allows you to feel satisfied. In this solo episode of Divine Union, Nicola explores the "Relational Shift", moving from the isolation of personal self-development into the collaborative power of the "Couple Bubble."Inside the episode, we explore:Beyond Self-Development: Why focusing solely on "personal growth" can keep us stuck in an individualistic loop, and how shifting to a relational mindset eases your partner's nervous system. The Reciprocity Code: How placing attention on your partner's needs isn't "people-pleasing"—it's a strategy that gives your partner the capacity to meet your needs effortlessly. The Shared Sanctuary: Based on the work of Stan Tatkin, we discuss how to build a "bubble" that protects your union and transforms you into a true "Power Couple" through mutual empowerment.Mapping Different Priorities: Why it's natural for one partner to prioritize Care and Safety while the other thrives on Mystery and Passion—and how learning to feed these different "buckets" creates a roadmap for success rather than a "tit-for-tat" war.The more you understand the architecture of your partner's needs, the more collaborative and inspired your union becomes.Ready to move from theory to practice? Join us for The Year of US, Nicola's upcoming couples workshop. Enter 2026 more connected, aligned, and inspired as a team. This is a space to strengthen your bond as a unit, meet growth-oriented couples, and learn the relational skills that aren't taught in books.Virtual Workshop: Sunday, Feb 8th (Limited to 5 couples)
We just celebrated 10 years of teaching kids to cook online, which honestly feels surreal. It still feels like yesterday that we were filming the very first lessons, crossing our fingers, and wondering if anyone would even want this.Fast forward a decade and nearly 20,000 families served, and the answer is clear. This work matters. It is changing kitchens, confidence levels, and family dynamics in real ways.Over the years, parents have consistently asked me about two skills that go beyond what we teach inside Kids Cook Real Food:How to help kids meal planHow to help kids grocery shopThese are higher level executive functioning skills. They build on cooking, but they are a step further. They require decision making, budgeting, and thinking ahead. That is why they were never part of the original Kids Cook Real Food course. For a long time, I knew these skills belonged in a future, more advanced program for teens and young adults. And now, that next step is almost here!! They are a big part of Teens Cook Real Food, which releases to the public on January 26, 2006!! When was the last time you truly prioritized your own pleasure? For over two decades, Dr. Stacy Friedman has been helping women understand what many were never taught: basic knowledge about their own bodies. With 26 years in medical practice and 20 years specializing in sexuality, she's witnessed how inadequate sex education and cultural shame leave women disconnected from their anatomy (even something as fundamental as the body organ called the clitoris). The conversation reveals a surprising statistic, only a small percentage of women achieve orgasm through penetration alone, yet this misconception persists. Dr. Friedman shares her personal transformation from ignorance about her own anatomy to owning an extensive collection of high-quality sex toys, emphasizing that modern toys have become empowering tools rather than sources of shame. Fact: The clitoris contains over 10,400 nerve endings, double that of the penis, underscoring women's significant sexual potential when they explore without limitation. After experiencing painful sex for six years following childbirth, Dr. Friedman found her purpose: helping others redefine intimacy beyond traditional intercourse. She recently launched The Purple Passion Project podcast and previously authored "Confessions and Lessons of a Sexpert." Affiliate link to the book Paperback https://drstacyfriedman.com/ Listen to discover how prioritizing pleasure can transform your relationship and break generational cycles of shame and lack of female pleasure with sex. Bio: Dr. Stacy Friedman is a Clinical Sexologist, certified sex & intimacy coach, and the unapologetically bold host of The Purple Passion Project. With 26+ years in the medical field and 20+ years working in the sexuality field, Dr. Stacy helps people break down taboos, communicate clearly, and build hotter, healthier intimacy—without shame. She works with all aspects of sexuality but specializes in mismatched sex drives, alternative lifestyles, women who experience painful sex, low libido, and the LGBTQ community. Known for blending expertise with humor and heart, Dr. Stacy makes conversations about sex feel safe, real, and seriously empowering. Her motto: "My passion is to help you create yours." Because at the end of the day, you deserve connection that's honest, exciting, and hot as hell. Direct clitoral stimulation is essential for most women's pleasure rather than penetration alone. • **Most women don't orgasm through penetration alone** – challenging the widespread myth that vaginal intercourse is the primary or sufficient path to female orgasm, revealing a fundamental gap in sexual education and cultural bias. • **Sex toys are normalized tools for exploration, not replacements** – reframing vibrators and similar devices as legitimate aids for self-discovery and pleasure, equivalent to using any other tool, rather than signs of relationship inadequacy or dysfunction.

Why Your Affiliate Program Might Be Losing Traffic Without You Realising ItWhen 62% of AI citations reference affiliate sources but only 20% link to direct providers, something fundamental has shifted in how consumers discover financial products. Jon Ostler, CEO of finder.com and digital marketing veteran since 1997, reveals research that should worry every affiliate program manager: AI is scraping content from publishers, summarising their expert analysis, then sending consumers directly to providers while cutting out the affiliates who created that value. Lee-Ann and Jon discuss what this means for content publishers who've invested millions in editorial teams, how the performance model needs to evolve beyond last-click attribution, and why the publishers who survive will be those who understand their true value isn't just traffic anymore.Talking Points Include:The research findings that sparked this conversation - Jon analysed best-for-finance product searches across AI engines and discovered AI overwhelmingly cites affiliate content while bypassing affiliate links, fundamentally disrupting how publishers monetise their expertiseWhy this isn't plagiarism in the traditional sense - AI doesn't reason from first principles but delivers consensus answers by absorbing content investment from publishers, raising urgent questions about compensation models when your editorial work powers AI responses but generates zero clicksListen to Find Out More About:Jon's LinkedIn research that quantified exactly how AI citations reference affiliate content while bypassing affiliate monetisationWhy branded search and direct traffic increases often mask AI influence you're not being compensated for under current attribution modelsThe specific vulnerability AI systems share with early search engines and why chasing short-term exploitation breaks long-term brand buildingHow Google's antitrust position creates pressure to maintain ad revenue growth even as AI overviews reduce organic click-through ratesWhy Reddit strategies and multimedia affiliate approaches create the consensus signals AI relies on when formulating answersThe exact metrics Jon tracks beyond sales figures to understand genuine community health and identify which publishers drive sustainable valueReady to Master the Next Evolution of Performance Marketing? If this conversation with Jon Ostler revealed gaps in your current affiliate strategy, Affiverse Agency can help you navigate this transition with confidence. Our team specialises in helping affiliate program managers rebuild their partner ecosystems for an AI-influenced world, from identifying which publishers bring genuine value beyond last-click attribution to structuring commercial models that reward upstream influence. This week, we continue the new series of live couples sessions with a deeply intimate conversation about returning, rebuilding, and choosing again. In this episode, I sit down with Estrella and Jeremy, partners navigating the reunion after a year of living apart. As they consider moving back in together, a deeper question opens: what does it truly mean to come home, not just to a shared space, but to each other? As the session unfolds, we explore what lives beneath the decision to reunite: the weight of past experiences, unspoken fears, desires for grounding and safety, and the tender edges that arise when love asks us to risk again. Rather than rushing toward certainty, this conversation slows us into presence, where old patterns can be seen, named, and gently processed. This session offers a rare look into how couples work with history without being ruled by it, how resistance can soften into honesty, and how clarity emerges through conscious connection.A note to listeners: Estrella and Jeremy have generously opened their hearts to be witnessed in real time, allowing us into a moment of truth, vulnerability, and courage. What you hear is one chapter in their unfolding journey, an honest snapshot of two people choosing to meet each other with greater awareness, compassion, and devotion. Your care and presence help honor the bravery that makes conversations like this possible. This series will continue throughout 2026, featuring couples navigating many of the threshold moments relationships face, from moving in together, to conflict repair, attachment dynamics, money, intimacy, and the art of choosing each other again and again.*If you and your partner are interested in receiving a live couples session while being part of this mission and contributing to a larger conversation around conscious partnership, you're invited to apply. "Marketing at Meta - The View From the Eye of the Storm"A CMO Confidential Interview with Alex Schultz, the Meta CMO and VP of Analytics, and author of Click Here: The Art & Science of Digital Marketing and Advertising. Alex details why he believes in decentralized analytics and the importance of focusing on core results vs vanity metrics, why AI is a "threshold technology", and why and how the company transitioned to Meta. Key topics include: the barbell distribution of AI competency (native users and very senior experienced leaders); why he believes so strongly in "incrementality measurements"; how he and his team handle the emotional impact of being in the center of political discussions and; why marketers should be thinking about 2027. Tune in to hear a story about affiliate marketing incentives gone wrong and the eBay/Google "Tea Party" incident. What's it really like to be CMO at one of the most scrutinized companies in the world? In this episode of **CMO Confidential**, host Mike Linton sits down with **Alex Schultz**, CMO and VP of Analytics at Meta, for a wide-ranging, unfiltered conversation on marketing leadership inside the eye of the storm. Alex breaks down how Meta structures marketing and analytics at global scale, why marketing must be centralized while analytics should not, and what most companies get wrong about “one source of truth.”The conversation goes deep on navigating nonstop political and cultural pressure, shortening negative news cycles, and keeping teams emotionally grounded when the brand is under fire. Alex also shares some of the clearest executive thinking we've heard on AI as a *threshold technology* — where it truly creates leverage, where humans must stay in the loop, and how CMOs should assess AI talent today. The episode closes with inside stories from the Facebook-to-Meta rebrand, hard-earned lessons from eBay on incrementality measurement, and practical advice for preparing your organization for 2027 and beyond. If you're a CMO, CEO, founder, or senior operator responsible for growth, measurement, and brand under pressure — this is required listening.New episodes of **CMO Confidential** drop every Tuesday.---## Chapters & Timestamps00:00 – Welcome to CMO Confidential00:01 – Alex Schultz's role: CMO & VP of Analytics at Meta00:03 – Why marketing is centralized but analytics are decentralized00:06 – “One source of truth” and killing vanity metrics00:09 – Marketing while constantly in the global spotlight00:11 – Managing crisis cycles, truth, and comms alignment00:12 – AI's real impact on marketing productivity00:15 – AI as a threshold technology (precision vs. recall)00:17 – How AI is reshaping analytics, creative, and teams00:18 – Hiring for AI: the barbell talent distribution00:22 – Preparing for 2027: information flow and AI philosophy00:25 – How B2B marketing is (and isn't) changing00:28 – Inside the Facebook → Meta rebrand00:32 – Lessons from eBay: incrementality over last-click00:36 – What downturns reveal about leadership talent00:37 – Why Alex wrote his book on digital marketing00:40 – Affiliate marketing, incentives, and unintended consequences00:43 – Final advice for CMOs and marketers---CMO Confidential, Alex Schultz, Meta marketing, Facebook Meta rebrand, marketing leadership, CMO podcast, executive marketing, analytics strategy, marketing analytics, AI in marketing, artificial intelligence marketing, incrementality measurement, digital marketing strategy, B2B marketing, growth marketing, brand under pressure, crisis communications, marketing measurement, performance marketing, last click attribution, marketing org design, marketing podcast--See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
