Hello everyone and welcome to Some Like It Scott's latest limited series: Nolan Countdown. Each week in the lead up to Christopher Nolan's latest film, Tenet, the two Scotts and countdown special guest, Jay Habib, will be working their way through Christopher Nolan's full filmography in chronological order, starting from his humble beginnings making "budget" films like Following and Memento, all the way to his most recent days making mega-blockbusters like his Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. This time, Jay Habib has actually seen these films (quite a few of them, quite a few times actually), but there will be fresh takes, crazy theories, and deep conversations about one of the most interesting auteur filmmakers of this generation all along the way. Join us each week! On part 8 of the countdown, Scott, Scott, and Jay take a look back at the finale to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy: The Dark Knight Rises. Set 8 years after the events of the Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises finds Gotham at a time of relative peace. Organized crime has been all but eradicated thanks to the Dent Act, passed in honor of the memory of Harvey Dent, after Gary Oldman's Jim Gordon and Christian Bale's Batman successfully hid the truth of what Dent had become by the end of The Dark Knight. Batman has disappeared, and Bruce Wayne has become a recluse, sulking in a rebuilt Wayne manor, continuing to mourn the death of his beloved Rachel, whom he believed was going to leave Dent for him, once he had hung up the suit. However, when Bruce discovers a cat-burglar, Selina Kyle, played by Anne Hathaway, trying to steal his fingerprints off his family safe, Bruce throws himself back into the action to uncover a plot that is much, much bigger in scale than any he has had to deal with before: that the mercenary-for-hire, Bane, played by Tom Hardy, has set up base in Gotham's sewer system and has something quite sinister in store for the city: to complete Ra's al Ghul's mission to destroy Gotham. In order to stop him, Bruce will need to don the batsuit one last time and team up with old and new allies alike in order to ensure Gotham's continued existence, overcome his own demons, and conclude the arc of Bruce Wayne / Batman. The countdown trio discusses a whole host of topics, including the technical aspects, the characters and performances, the action set pieces, and the evolution of certain themes over the course of the entire Dark Knight trilogy.   Sign up for our newsletter here!   Patreon: www.patreon.com/MediaPlugPods Twitter: @MediaPlugPods

A genre defining character driven take on superheroes? Or a long bleak broody joyless reboot? They feud, you decide! Check it out by clicking [here](http://bit.ly/hubhppr) or download it directly from the play store or app store!  On this week’s episode, Vikram and Vidur feud over Batman Begins, the first movie in their favorite director Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. Vikram cant stop praising Nolan's invention of cinematic realism in the superhero genre while Vidur makes sweeping claims about Nolan's ability to direct action, horror and comedy. The feud heats up when Vidur begins talking about Joel Schumacher's Batman and Robin favorably and Vikram can't stand comparisons to Marvel movies and Zack Snyder movies anymore. In this high octane episode of Hanging With Apes, the guys crack open the 90th Academy Awards and all of the virtue signaling that took place from host Jimmy Kimmel and a slew of other Oscar award winners and presenters. The conversation then starts to turn toward the overall current state of Hollywood movies being produced and how K. Cartoon and Rx Phonics both feel that the films are more about political messages rather than being quality movies. K. Cartoon then brings up in-depth examples of quality entertainment such as Comedy Central's "South Park" and Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. The Apes conclude the episode with a discussion about a recent article by Abigail Hess for CNBC saying that "32% of millennials would break up with their significant other for a $37,000 raise" and why exactly they think that is.
