This week, we're breaking our hiatus to break from our format, as we are not breaking down a film this week so much as hyping one up, as we get ready for the movie event of the summer by over-analyzing the final trailer for Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. If you're a long-time listener or even someone who's only heard a few episodes you probably know that the Mission: Impossible movies are a permanent hyper-fixation around here, so we had to get together to discuss a preview loaded wall-to-wall with That Guy character actors, including the return of our beloved boy Shea Whigham, and even that one guy from the first movie who had to go have diarrhea. Everyone is here! Plus: J Mo's got a theatrical field report having been out to the VIFF premiere of the pro wrestling biopic Queen of the Ring that included a live Q&A with the film's director and star, and as usual we catch up on what's been filling our Letterboxd. Other works discussed on this episode include Kimi, Rushmore, The Accountant, The Pitt, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Avatar: The Way of Water, Aquaman, Campfire Tales, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, The Twister: Caught in the Storm, Twisters, Tenet, Deja Vu, The Iron Claw, Flow, The Wild Robot, Rope, Stranger Than Fiction and Terminator: Salvation. Not sure when we'll back together again, but we can say when we do we will be discussing Warren Beatty's 1990 comic book detective noir Dick Tracy, a movie that is literally never available to stream and may never be despite being produced and distributed by Disney. We've also got while-they're-in-theatres episodes planned over the next month for both The Accountant 2 and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, so look forward to those, and until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

Two Dudes, Brews And Reviews

During a time where a global pandemic was ravaging the world, people were finally able to flock back to the theater for their first big theatrical experience in almost a year. What were they given after an overwhelming time? The film equivalent of your brain short circuiting! Christopher was back with 'Tenet'. Weirdly sandwiched between his historical dramas 'Dunkirk' and 'Oppenheimer', is this a natural progression on his usual twisty formula, or is a regression into old tropes?Starring - John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Michael Caine

now there's a live dog (whoops, it's a dead lion) Filmmaker and YouTuber Patrick Willems once attempted to define what he called a “vibes movie”. A vibes movie, more or less, is a film that prioritizes atmosphere and filmmaking elements over a coherent plot. Willems lands on Tenet as the ultimate vibes movie, but if Tenet did not exist (And who's to say? Maybe it doesn't!), Legend would surely land that coveted spot. What else but a complete dedication to vibes could explain Tim Curry's enormous latex Beast outfit, Tom Cruise's tiny leaf tunic, or the allergy-inducing forest sets? This week, Adam and Aidan discuss Legend and all things Legend-adjacent. Rabbi Aaron Rotenberg realized at a young age he was drawn to Jewish studies. After graduating from Jewish day schools around Toronto, he decided to attend the Jewish Theological Seminary, a Conservative rabbinical school in New York City, for five years—only to end up a Renewal rabbi years later, ordained just this month. As the spiritual leader of the Annex Shul in downtown Toronto—and one of a handful of Renewal rabbis in the city—his goal is to connect with younger audiences. That means leading unconventional services including music, dance parties and an emphasis on Earth-based Judaism. Just ahead of Tu b'Shevat, Rabbi Rotenberg sat down with Ralph Benmergui on Not That Kind of Rabbi for a lengthy discussion about the Renewal movement, eco-spirituality and the age-old relationship between Jews and the land. The hosts of the left politics and film podcast Pod Casty For Me, Jake Serwin and Ian Rhine, return to Junk Filter for a supersized episode about Christian Gudegast's Den of Thieves films, starring the new King of January movies Gerard Butler in his greatest role as debauched cop Big Nick O'Brien of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The first Den of Thieves features a cat and mouse plot where Big Nick leads his team of dirty cops against a heist crew planning to rob the Federal Reserve in LA, using their informant Donnie played by O'Shea Jackson Jr., a film that had ardent defenders including the German director Christian Petzold who raised eyebrows when he placed it on his list of the best films of the decade. Coming seven years later, the sequel Pantera takes the story to Europe, where Big Nick tracks Donnie down in the French Riviera as he and his new European gang are planning a complex heist of the World Diamond Center, forcing his way into the crew. We discuss the evolution of the series, how the sequel doubles down on the Dudes Rock qualities of the first film, and reveals how smart this dumb guy series actually is, with all the things it has to say about gang culture in the LA Police, toxic masculinity, and the healing powers of a summer in Europe with your boys as Den of Thieves evolves into an actual action franchise. If the first one feels like a variation on Michael Mann, the second one evokes Rififi, Ronin, Tenet, Clint Eastwood's The 15:17 to Paris and most unexpectedly Richard Linklater's Before series. Plus: we discovered there are two cuts of Pantera in circulation and we discuss their differences. Over 30% of all Junk Filter episodes are only available to patrons of the podcast. This week, we're saddling up and getting back to our old ways, shootin' some fellas who may or may not deserve it, but deserves ain't got nothin' to do with it either way. It's 1992's Unforgiven, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, Richard Harris, Jaimz Woolvett, Saul Rubinek, Frances Fisher, Anna Thomson and a blink-and-you'll-miss-him Lachlyn Munro. A revisionist western primarily concerned with upending the myth of the great American frontier that its director and star built his career off of, it is a dark, bleak and dreadful film that took home Oscar gold for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor (Hackman) -- just the third time in the Awards' history that a Western had taken the top prize. Plus: we're both deep in our respective music bags this week, hyperfixating on tunes from Willow Avalon and Bruce Cockburn. Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes Reliable scooper Jeff Sneider claims Marvel Studios is actively looking for an actor to play T'Challa/The Black Panther, replacing the late Chadwick Boseman who passed away in 2020. According to Sneider, the studio's replacement of Boseman is only due to the fact that the MCU is working within the Multiverse currently. In related news, when asked during an interview about a dream role, Wicked star Cynthia Erivo said she would “really want to play Storm,” to “uncover how grand she is,”. Lastly, an OG villain is returning to the MCU, with Faran Tahir coming to the small screen to reprise the character of Raza, the leader of the so-called Ten Rings from 2008's Iron Man.  In some confirmed casting news, Rory McCann will replace the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll for Ahsoka season two. McCann is best known for playing The Hound in Game of Thrones, but his roster of work also includes Gladiator II, Hot Fuzz, Clash of the Titans, and more. Ahsoka is part of Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau's Mandoverse, and Filoni will return as showrunner for season two. Director Andy Muschietti let it be known why he thinks the 2023 DCEU movie The Flash, flopped. On Radio Tu's “La Baulera del Coso” show, Muschietti said the film didn't appeal to “all four quadrants” of moviegoers. The quadrants he's speaking of are men over 25, men under 25, women over 25, and women under 25. Muschietti also said anecdotally that in conversations with people he found they “just don't care about the Flash as a character…particularly the two female quadrants.” Colman Domingo has been cast in Edgar Wright's The Running Man and will star alongside Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, Karl Glusman, Katy O'Brian and Daniel Ezra. The film releases on November 7. Production on many Hollywood television and film projects has been suspended and events such as The Critic's Choice Awards, red carpet premieres, and The Academy Awards nominations have been postponed due to the LA area wildfires. Five-time WWE world champion Seth Rollins has confirmed he is not in upcoming MCU movie Captain America: Brave New World, saying his role was cut following extensive rewrites of the script and subsequent reshoots. Universal Pictures has updated the release date calendar for two animated properties. DreamWorks' Shrek 5 has been pushed back almost 6 months to December 23, 2026 and Minions 3 from Illumination is moving forward almost a year to take Shrek 5's original date of  July 1, 2026. Variety reported today that MCU screenwriting veteran Marcus McFeely originally turned the Russo Brothers down about writing for Secret Wars, even though he is the reason the directing duo is returning. However, the next day McFeely called the Russos back and said he was in after coming up with an idea for the film. Warner Brothers is bringing back The Puppy Bowl for its 21st installment this year, but will use the game to bolster its upcoming DCU film Superman. James Gunn will appear during The Puppy Bowl with his dog Ozu, who served as the inspiration for the superdog Krypto in the film. Gunn will introduce a sneak preview of Superman and deliver a “special message” to viewers. According to box office tracking service Quorum, Captain America: Brave New World will likely cross the $100 Million Dollar Mark in it's opening 4 day weekend Ludwig Göransson will compose the score for Christopher Nolan's upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey. Göransson's other film and TV credits include Creed, Black Panther, Atlanta, Tenet, and The Mandalorian. Succession creator Jesse Armstrong has reached an agreement with HBO to produce a feature film. The movie is based on an original idea of Armstrong's and will center on four friends who meet up in the midst of a global financial crisis. Production is currently fast-tracked to start later this year.

In this episode of the Play Therapy Podcast, I introduce a new series focused on neutrality in child-centered play therapy (CCPT). Neutrality is a foundational yet often overlooked aspect of maintaining adherence to the CCPT model. I reflect on my early experiences in the field, where lapses in neutrality led to tangible fractures in the therapeutic relationship. Through these moments, I learned the critical importance of staying emotionally neutral—keeping tone, body language, and reactions steady, no matter what happens in the playroom. I explain how neutrality directly supports unconditional acceptance, a cornerstone of CCPT, and why even subtle deviations can hinder a child's self-actualizing process. This series will explore how therapists can master neutrality, address challenges that compromise it, and ultimately provide an environment where the child is accepted unconditionally. The window for our Winter Commissions season is now open. Coming up this October we have shows on the first two Psycho films, (as well as touching on the ill-advised Gus Van Sant 1998 remake of the Hitchcock original.) Then a long-planned episode discussing the Horror genre in a new light. And finally on Halloween, we got us a hot, steaming bowl of Beetlejuice. Following that we have Nolan-Vember, from the makers of Cloon-June. Sharon and I will be talking about four of his films on the Main Event feed: Memento, The Prestige, Inception, Interstellar, and on the Patreon bonus feed we will have After School Clubs on Tenet, Insomnia, Following and Dunkirk. Then in December we are going back to the animated X-Men with shows about ‘97 and maybe more. So that leaves January open for four episodes chosen by four of you. Again, the standard fee is $150 for a movie, more for TV, comics or video games because of the increased time and energy investment. And as always, it's not first come, first served, it's the four we think will make for the best shows. These places tend to fill up very fast, usually within a few days, so get in touch via email, Patreon messaging, Discord, or even twitter, if anybody still uses that hellsite. Last week, the Department of Justice announced major indictments alleging that, among other things, the Kremlin was paying right-wing influencers, like Dave Rubin, Tim Pool, and Benny Johnson, to spread Russian propaganda. The payments were funneled through a Tennessee-based company called Tenet Media, and while Rubin, Pool, and Johnson deny knowledge of the plot ... they don't seem to have asked too many questions about the mysterious benefactor who was supposedly funding Tenet and paying them unseemly large amounts of money. Despite a supposed wave of COVID already passing, it seems to be too much of a coincidence that now they're issuing new guidelines and vaccines — right before an election. Given that the GOP hasn't done much to prevent against ballot harvesting and mail-in voting, are the Democrats gearing up for (another) steal this November? Also, we're continuing to follow the fall-out regarding the Tenet media and Russian backing — and now it seems like all the neocons are coming out of the woodwork to attack. Adam Johnson, aka “The Lectern Guy” joins us for tonight's NIGHTLY OFFENSIVE!__ ⇩SUPPORT THE SHOW⇩➤ JOIN CENSORED TV: Watch this FULL EPISODE ad free + EXCLUSIVE content at https://censored.tv/ promo code “OFFENSIVE” for 20% - Keep free speech media alive!➤ JOIN THE PRIVATE LIVE COMMUNITY: https://elijahschaffer.locals.com/➤ NOTICER T-SHIRTS / MERCH: https://slightlyoffensive.com/__⇩ SHOW SPONSORS⇩➤ THE WELLNESS COMPANY: Be prepared for what is coming next! OA1066 Privyet, fellow citizens! We begin with a quick look at recent events following  Jack Smith's new superseding indictment in Trump's January 6th case in DC. Why are Trump's lawyers saying that Clarence Thomas “directed” them to file a motion to dismiss? And does DC federal judge Tanya Chutkan even care that this defendant who happens to be charged with four counts of trying to overturn an election is running for President at all?  Then in our main story: In an indictment filed this week, the Department of Justice has charged two Russian state media operatives with funding an officially unnamed production company which is allegedly (but also definitely) Tenet Media, the home of mediocre anti-woke crusaders like Dave Rubin, Tim Pool, and Lauren Southern (among others). Thomas takes us through some of the most entertaining facts alleged in the indictment, including an extremely real investor who is definitely in Paris and not Moscow, the Tucker Carlson Russian propaganda video which was a little too much even for Tenet's producers, and why anyone (including Tim Pool) could have ever believed that Tim Pool could have possibly been worth $100,000 an episode. Matt then breaks down some of the history of the Foreign Agents Registration Act and how this indictment sets a new standard for its enforcement in the 21st century--and what (and who) might be next. DOJ indictment of Kostiantyn Kalashnikov and Elena Afanasyeva (9/4/24) FARA on Facebook, Joshua Fattel, NYU Journal of Legislation and Public Policy (2019)   If you'd like to support the show (and lose the ads!), please pledge at patreon.com/law!

SERIES 3 EPISODE 21: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN                            ALL-TIME SERIES EPISODE 500 A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: "Follow the money," said Deep Throat about Watergate. Except he didn't.. My friend, the screenwriter of "All The President's Men," Bill Goldman - HE said it. Because they paid him to. The real "Deep Throat," Deputy FBI Director Mark Felt, never said anything like it. Goldman added he threw it in because it sounded more memorable. And it was. Now everybody remembers it as having happened, when it didn't. Which is kind of the point about what Mark Felt's institutional descendants at the Department of Justice did yesterday about Stooge-Gate: In their indictment of two Russian propagandists THEY never say the Tennessee company through which they funneled money into the American right wing echo chamber is called Tenet Media and THEY never say that Tenet Media was founded by Lauren Chen who also happens to work for Glenn Beck and Blaze-TV and THEY never say that Tenet Media's YouTube channel got ten million dollars from Putin's propaganda arm, R-T, to grow and distribute videos about how America started the Russian war in Ukraine, and how it was all Biden's fault, and vote Trump or die, and how America shouldn't get trapped in forever wars and how terrorists were coming into the country across the southern border. And they didn't say that through Tenet the Russians washed large sums of money to scumbags like Tim Pool, Benny Johnson, Dave Rubin, and others to unwittingly do Putin's work for him. Some of those folks say they're unwitting victims. I actually believe it. Because if there was an Unwitting Fantasy League, Jesse Watters would be my first choice but I'd certainly be satisfied if I could get Pool or Johnson or Rubin. My question is: Russia only had a handful of stooges here? I doubt that. TRUMP GOES SILENT ON ARLINGTON: Possibly after reading polling showing that his standing with veterans, active service members, and their families is vanishing - he's in a virtual dead heat with Vice President Harris among the families. AND THE RATS ARE LEAVING THE SINKING SHIP and boasting about it to Politico. Eighteen paragraphs about Republicans who are preparing a bunch of different songs to whistle past a bunch of different graveyards, but the lyrics are identical: we WANT Trump to lose, it's the GOP's only chance! B-Block (25:22) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Mark Robinson allegedly owed the porn guy money, and then his wife owed the Girl Scouts money! The "Tim Walz Family Hates Tim Walz" campaign falls flat when it turns out the terrible story his brother had to tell was about Tim barfing in the car as a kid. And on Joe Scarborough's show, Mike Barnicle asked the fitting question: how did the Republicans get here, nominating a lunatic Trump for a third time? The answer - in part anyway - IS Joe Scarborough. C-Block (42:37) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: The NFL season opens tonight. Why not look back at the day I had to call in sick as co-host of NBC's "Football Night In America" because I had unknowingly blown out my appendix! Join Jim and Greg as they discuss Kamala Harris finally agreeing to debate Donald Trump next week, the DOJ's indictment of Russians accused of paying online influencers in the U.S., and how Harris is refusing to take positions on key issues. First, they're glad that next week's debate will go forward as scheduled after a lot of efforts to rework the agreement - from Trump demanding more debates to Harris insisting on unmuted microphones (which she failed to get). They explain the vapid reason Kamala wanted unmuted mics and whether this will be the final time she will take serious questions before Election Day.Next, they react to the Justice Department's indictment of two Russians accused of money laundering and failing to register as foreign agents. The indictment also refers to a lot of money being spent on a media company featuring six prominent online influencers here in the U.S. The indictment says those commentators had no knowledge of the arrangement and are not being charged. Defenders of the commentators allege this is simply a return to the government's Russian collusion narrative from eight years ago. Finally, they hammer Kamala Harris and her campaign for constantly dodging straightforward questions about her ever-evolving positions on many issues. The latest? Their refusal to say whether Harris would sign a legislative electric vehicle mandate that she sponsored while in the U.S. Senate. Please visit our great sponsors:Zbioticshttps://zbiotics.com/3MLUse code 3ML at checkout to save 15% off your first order.
