Big Fat Five: A Podcast Financially Supported by Big Fat Snare Drum
We are back to our regularly-scheduled programing with this week's guest, Aksel Coe. I first learned of Aksel via Instagram thanks to a shoutout by our good buddies at Nelson Drum Shop (Nashville). I was hooked right away. Seriously, check him out before listening to this episode. Aksel is the epitome of a modern drummer and has collaborated with Homes at Night, The Sisterhood Band, Cody Jinks, K.Flay, Temecula Road, Brittany Spencer, Pam Tillis, Larkin Poe, Jars of Clay, The Donelson Broncos, Okey Dokey, Savannah Conley, SONTALK, Elenowen, The Saint Johns and many, MANY more… If you're looking to start OR further your career as a session player, Aksel's insight comes from a very boots-on-the-ground approach. I hope you enjoy the five records that shaped him into the player he is today. Cheers! This indie singing tandem from Nashville, Tennessee, Nicole and Josh Johnson, met as solo performers and soon fell in love. Their stage name is taken from their parents' middle names. After a year of marriage, they wrote and released their debut album, "Pulling Back the Veil," chronicling the highs and lows of life as newlyweds. NBC named the first 12 of its 32 selected artists/contestants who will move onto the Battle round of the new vocal competition series “The Voice” featuring its four musician coaches -- Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. Viewers will gain rare access to artists/contestants via Twitter and Facebook. Much like today’s music stars, the artists/contestants are encouraged to interact with viewers via social media to build a fan base. The fans will have an important role in the live performance shows, as they will have the opportunity to vote to save their favorites on each coach’s team. In the finals, each coach will have one artist/contestant left to represent them and that artist’s fate will be in the viewer’s hands. One of the four finalists will be named “The Voice" -- and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract with Universal Music Group and $100,000.
