This week, we are revisiting our episode with photographer and writer Sally Mann about her book, Art Work: On the Creative Life. Medaya Ocher and Kate Wolf speak with Mann, whose book describes her path to becoming an artist and provides prospective artists with insights on how to weather everything from rejection and poverty, to failure, fallow periods, and the millions of things that can come between you and your work. The book includes selections from Mann's rich archive of photographic work prints, explaining some of the ideas that have gone into her pictures, as well early diary entries that portray a fierce determination alongside equally fierce self-doubt. She also includes excerpts from her long correspondence with a fellow photographer named Ted Orland. Mann's advice is to write letters, keep your receipts, make lots of lists, and remember that being an artist isn't necessarily such a big deal, it's a job like any other: you have to work at it.

The band fought and destroyed the massive Spyrer Amberlin. Morgan used the password Hydra Dominatus to access the throne room where two Drukhari bearing symbols of the Kabal of the Bladed Cage held Darius and his Astropath hostage. As they reached an impasse with words, the Archon suggested a duel between the Incubus and Solomon. As the two fought, Morgan called Romeo in to stealthily observe the rest of the room. The servitor identified two hostage adepts of the Mechanicus working on what appeared to be a wraithbone arch, but the purpose the arch—whether as an escape path for the Archon or an entry point for Deamons—could not be determined.Featuring players Del Borovic, Guy Bradford, Josh Halbot, and Tyler Hewitt, and Dungeon Master Ryan LaPlante.Enjoying Agents of the Inquisition?- Consider supporting the show for as little as $1 a month to get BTS fun, an ad-free feed, and even add your own character to the podcast! Raymond E. Foster is a leadership author, educator, and civic leader whose work bridges real-world decision-making with timeless principles of character, accountability, and service. A former law-enforcement professional and longtime leadership instructor, Raymond is the author of nine books including The Temple Within and Chasing the Surge: Ten Thousand Rides into the American Night, and co-author of Leadership: Texas Hold 'em Style, a widely used leadership book that examines judgment, risk, and responsibility through lived experience rather than abstract theory. He currently serves in senior leadership roles across civic and nonprofit organizations, including Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, and Freemasonry, where he is known for mentoring emerging leaders and building high-trust institutions. Whether writing, teaching, or leading in the community, Raymond focuses on one central question: how ordinary people make sound decisions under pressure—a theme he explores in Leadership: Texas Hold 'em Style, where poker and card playing become a practical metaphor for leadership in the real world. During this episode, we discuss the the topic of how the game of Texas Hold 'em relates to leadership. Inspired by his book "Leadership: Texas Hold 'em Style" we discuss the interconnectivity of the card game, to how we show up as leaders, and influence, support and empower our teams. Of course not, for the simple reason that Sam would not give it away in the episode descriptions. It's probably deeper than that! Sam's an old soul. Written as a flow of consciousness one night after a train home late from Truro. Straight out, a few mins. The words from a commuter about papier-mâché ... led to a poem, a glued-together observation on certain relationships perhaps...No intention, no 'thinking' really, just a flow..- and the surreal yet everyday noticing - of a man and his box of 'Finest Medjool Dates'...and another man incessently curling and uncurling a sticker around a metal bar between Redruth and St Erth Stations. * apologies for the loudness of the music in the beginning x.........................................................................................................** - please see the donate button on 'Buy me a coffee' as so happy to find out about this! In 1982, Sister Helen Prejean was invited to write a letter to a man on death row named Elmo Patrick Sonnier. She told us, “I thought that all I was going to be doing was writing letters. And lo and behold, two years later, I am in that execution chamber.” When we spoke to her in 2021, she was 81, and had been present at the executions of six men. Sister Helen's book, Dead Man Walking, is about her time as a spiritual advisor to Elmo Patrick Sonnier and Robert Lee Willie. This episode was originally released in 2021. It's the time of year when we gather together as a family and force one another to watch movies we had no desire to see in the first place. This week, Patrick kid Oli makes him shove the 2023 videogame adaptation FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S into his eyeballs, and now you all have to hear about it!! That's right, Oli has the 411 on the game version of the story and remembers about half of it. Who is the mysterious Purple Guy? Why would you keep real quarters inside an abandoned arcade? How many "scared cartoon dog" noises can one character make? All this, plus Sawsville USA Canada, robot masks with frinkin' razor blades attached, random YouTubers, cryptic cops, bad aunts, ghost children, and a not-so-family-friendly edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure!! Wet Change entered the church in the Nameless Graveyard and, when Del realized it was Thanksgiving, they decided to celebrate and found some food and drinks. Rumpleforeskin made a berry jelly and baked a calzone inside themself, they all played cards, and the Doctor Deputy put on such an incredible show with the Tech Deck that Tyler gave it to him permanently. They all said what they were thankful for, received gifts from the Watchers, including a goat for New Rogue that he can pet without harming, and discovered that Shadow Nemesis had slept with a Sanguine. Now can they defeat the gargoyle that just landed unexpectedly in their midst?Featuring players Tyler Hewitt, Del Borovic, Guy Bradford, and Adam McNamara, and Dungeon Master Ryan LaPlante.Enjoying Jesters of Ravenloft?- Consider supporting the show for as little as $1 a month to get BTS fun, an ad-free feed, and even add your own character to the podcast! The troupe is locked in combat with the Gargoyle King and five miniature gargoyles. New Rogue focused his powers entirely on keeping his goat safe, Shadow Nemesis tried to strike at the king, but hit Del instead, Tyler effectively conjured illusory clones of himself to draw the attention of the gargoyles, and Del psychically attacked with a Cronenberg-like jamboree band. The Doctor Deputy discovered that he couldn't attack the gargoyle king unless it first attacked every member of the troupe, and with the stone giant swiftly smashing through Tyler's illusions, will the troupe survive another blow?Featuring players Tyler Hewitt, Del Borovic, Guy Bradford, and Adam McNamara, and Dungeon Master Ryan LaPlante.Enjoying Jesters of Ravenloft?- Consider supporting the show for as little as $1 a month to get BTS fun, an ad-free feed, and even add your own character to the podcast! We've taken the week off so our team can have a holiday before returning with fresh episodes! In the meantime, please enjoy a couple of episodes of Jesters of Ravenloft celebrating a completely different holiday! In the previous episode...The troupe left Protection Town and set off toward the Barren Hills. Del got her phone out and shared photos of them all in happier times and New Rogue connected again with Shadow Nemesis by reminiscing about Wet Change's more bizarre sketches until they arrived at the Nameless Graveyard. Coming upon a church, they investigated the strange statues atop it, and when Tyler discovered that those stone gargoyles were cursed and would come alive at night, Shadow Nemesis smashed their heads off. But the sun is setting and they've yet to explore the inside the building. Have they done enough to ensure their safety tonight?Featuring players Tyler Hewitt, Del Borovic, Guy Bradford, and Adam McNamara, and Dungeon Master Ryan LaPlante. This week I'm joined by IRA ROBBINS (Editor & Co-Founder of TROUSER PRESS magazine) as we end the year with the 1959 U.K. cult classic EXPRESSO BONGO!!!We discuss how Ira's influential magazine was started on a whim, and how as outsiders they wanted a different approach to rock journalism, how they got a long-form interview with Jimmy Page, how the magazine made me feel smarter by reading it, the wild highs and lows of publishing Trouser Press, making mistakes in journalism, writing a letter to Pete Townshend and the reply that came back in the mail, how 70s rock journalism still held power in the culture of the time, the Devo/William Burroughs interview, how they got difficult interviewees to open up to their writers, how the magazine become an obligation rather than an opportunity over the years, the hardcore punk movement, how and why the magazine stopped publication, MTV's influence on music journalism, Laurence Harvey's strange and powerful performance in Expresso Bongo, how young Cliff Richard was in this film, the incredible opening title sequence of the film, how the film pushes the cultural boundaries for young people in the late 50s, the British kitchen-sink drama movement, how the film was originally a West End musical and the differences between the two, how sleazy and risqué the film is for its time, The Shadows, how exploitative the British rock management world was, the threat of the 50s teenager, the alternate ending of the film and so much more.So let's spin in circles while shattering our espresso cups on the ground on this week's episode of Revolutions Per Movie!!TROUSER PRESS BOOKS (you can read the entire Trouser Press Magazine run in their archives!):trouserpressbooks.comREVOLUTIONS PER MOVIE:Host Chris Slusarenko (Eyelids, Guided By Voices, owner of Clinton Street Video rental store) is joined by actors, musicians, comedians, writers & directors who each week pick out their favorite music documentary, musical, music-themed fiction film or music videos to discuss. Ten years in, and somehow we're still here—older, louder, and more Sofa King unhinged than ever. For this year-end Christmas episode, we turned the mic over to the Skult and asked one simple question:“If money was no object… what do you want for Christmas?” The answers ranged from wholesome to wildly inappropriate—student loans paid off, houses bought, tractors replaced, gaming rigs upgraded, lost family reunions, rare books, government cheese, steam decks, lottery wins, socks, booze, podcast episodes, and yes… some answers that probably shouldn't be read out loud but absolutely were. This episode is a celebration of: The weird, loyal, hilarious community that's kept this show alive 10 years of conversations, chaos, and inside jokes Gratitude for everyone who listens, comments, roasts us, and somehow still comes back No deep conspiracy dives. No heavy topics. Just laughs, reflections, and a reminder that this show exists because you weirdos exist. From all of us to all of you—Merry Skultmas, Happy Holidays, and thank you for riding with us for 10 years.

Granted, this home has a demon pit in the basement and flying pigs in the kids' windows! In this 2023 episode, we start at the beginning of the “Orig Trig” by opening our doors to THE AMITYVILLE HORROR (1979), talking malicious money pits, over-the-top performances, ineffectual Catholics, variable strength hauntings, cool kitchen breezes, and sleeping in murder beds!! The yuletide of blood-soaked walls and total BS stories begins here as we get horny on main for James Brolin and Margot Kidder, get our wig blown back by Rod Steiger, and plan our retirement in the Ye Ol Priests Village!!
