https://enlighteninglife.com/july-2025-energy-report/Get ready for some good luck in July because it's the ‘lucky 7' month and we have two sevens this month. July is the 7th month and July 2025 is a 7 month (2025 = 9 + 7 = 16, 6+1=7). And we have Mercury retrograde in Leo, echoing Mars' long Leo retro earlier this year and it's long Pluto opposition. It's a great month for fun, fireworks, and fear-free transformation. Let's get to it.First the numerology because we do have a lucky double 7 configuration so we have twice the luck. Some people will tell you that 7 represents the need to go inward, to hibernate, rest, rejuvenate, and restore your energy. I say we can do more with July's lucky double 7s. 7 is a universal number that is present in so much of our daily lives. We have 7 days in a week, 7 chakras, 7 visible planets in the sky, there are 7 continents on the earth, and 7 seas. Gamblers refer to ‘lucky 7'.7 stands between the 6 of descension and the 8 of infinite awareness so it's another ascension bridge for us in a time when we have so many of these in 2025 and in the month of July. We just may have some accelerated growth happening – stay tuned and be prepared. So let's not start this month thinking we have to find some mountaintop to sit on for the next 31 days and contemplate our inner self while ignoring the world around us, trying to get the ‘next move' right in theory before we put it into practice. We can take aligned action and course correct at any time.Starting with the 7 numerology, which is the combination of 1 + 6, the 1 of action plus the 6 of descension. We have a universal call to action here with the energy of descension to support it. Now we just have to avoid the ‘hibernate in place' advice and get ready to expand our energy into new potentials.Read the rest of the July Energy Report on the blog at enlighteninglife.com Created, narrated, and produced by Jennifer Hoffman.Artwork by Jennifer Hoffman.Copyright (C) 2004-2025 by Jennifer Hoffman, all US and international rights reserved.Visit enlighteninglife.com for more information. Please note our policies regarding copyright infringement, content misuse, and theft of intellectual property. Residents had found an odd set of footprints in the sand, and a rumor began circulating that Clearwater Beach had a sea monster. Not sure if you should listen to this episode? Well, we're talking about 1997's I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER so… what are you waiting for, huh?!! That's right, the 90s Summer slasher - the hit screens in the Fall - is in our hooks, so how does this measure up next to Scream? We get into it all, including an exploration into the origins of the film, Kevin Williamson's first full swing at a slasher flick, a deep dive into Sylvester Stallone movies we both did and didn't get to see, the truly wild plot machinations of IKWYDLS that made us doubt our own sanity, and the secret sauce that this film possesses that we wish every other slasher tried to incorporate!! All this, plus fish stink, hot boys, tank top terror, the healing waters of the Atlantic, Galecki stacks, free-hinged performances, the two big reasons for JLH's success as Julie James, and then the hook brings you back for another edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure!! On today's episode, I'm joined by EVAN 'FUNK' DAVIES, legendary DJ on WFMU, who brings us a Heavy Metal Parking Lot-adjacent film to discuss today: ROCK STAR (loosely based on the story of Tim "Ripper" Owens, who replaced Rob Halford of Judas Priest after being in a Judas Priest cover band)..We also talk about the NYC club scene of the late 70s and early 80s, take a jealous look back at the club calendars at that era, how scared I was to visit NYC for the first time, AM radio vs FM radio, WFMU, has there ever been a good movie about being a DJ,DJing your high school cafeteria, seeing the film ROCK STAR on opening day with only one other person in the theater, the saga of "Ripper" Owens, Dominic West of The Wire & Timothy Olyphant of Deadwood playing rock gods in the film, the difference between a tribute band and a cover band, passive aggressively kicking people out of bands, Mark Wahlberg as the lead singer of the fictional band Steel Dragon, and his ever-changing accent, how I was in a Guided By Voices cover band before joining the real Guided By Voices, the mindset of the parents in the film who let Steel Dragon play their oil refinery, seeing bands fight on stage, Jennifer Aniston as the manager in the film, the many problematic scenes in the film, the trouble with loving bands that have drastic lineup changes, Cheap Trick, the amazing story of the film coming to the screen, Pussy Galore tribute bands, seeing Television live, how the end of this film has one of the dumbest endings of all time, how some of the movie's fake metal songs actually rule and so much more.REVOLUTIONS PER MOVIE:Host Chris Slusarenko (Eyelids, Guided By Voices, owner of Clinton Street Video rental store) is joined by actors, musicians, comedians, writers & directors who each week pick out their favorite music documentary, musical, music-themed fiction film or music videos to discuss. Beach House Breakdown, Vagina Dentata, & Cronenberg's Sex Parasites – Horror Hangout from HellWhat do a Cthulhu beach vacation, vagina dentata, and horny parasitic zombies have in common? We have no idea. But it's Josh's birthday, so come with us as we shuffle through all this goo and try to find out. The dudes dive headfirst into The Beach House (dir. Jeffrey A. Brown), a Lovecraft-lite flick that tries to spook you with fog, foot worms, and... astrobiology? James has ocean-walking dreams, Justin forgets the movie he's supposed to talk about, Derick gets mad that nobody in horror knows how to wear pants during a crisis, and Josh may in fact be Tubi's shadow CEO. We also take a deep bite into Teeth (dir. Mitchell Lichtenstein), where John Hensley from Nip/Tuck plays the most cartoonishly incestuous dirtbag this side of Cinemax. There are dog attacks, dick rings, and a whole lot of trauma wrapped up in a “quirky” indie revenge horror. A24 remake incoming? Probably. Then it's over to David Cronenberg's Shivers aka They Came from Within aka Orgy of the Blood Parasites, where 70s Canadian sex monsters spread the infection one creepy assault at a time. Oh, and apparently Cronenberg thought those guys were the heroes of the story. Yeah. Sketch. Along the way, the crew debates whether stoned vision grants access to cosmic jellyfish goo, how many dicks need to be bitten off before justice is served, and how Lovecraftian horror and edible gummies mix like oil and haunted ocean water.Movies discussed:The Beach House (2020) – Directed by Jeffrey A. Brown, starring Liana Liberato and Jake Weber (aka “Dawn of the Dead Ocean Dad”) Teeth (2007) – Directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein, starring Jess Weixler and John Hensley as Human Incest DumpsterShivers (1975) – Directed by David Cronenberg, starring Paul Hampton, Barbara Steele, and everything wrong with humanityTopics include:Why walking into the ocean is the ultimate Irish goodbye“Astrobiology” – science or weed hallucination?Cronenberg's wild take on sex parasitesThe proper ratio of tentacles to budgetSpider TikToks and Australia's war on sanityLovecraft meets weed: the crossover event nobodyasked forDon't forget to subscribe for more low-budget horror, high-budget opinions, and four grown men yelling about sea goo, toxic boyfriends, and the importance of pants during supernatural emergencies. This week I'm joined by WILCO's MIKAEL JORGENSON to discuss a film he knows backward and forwards: HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT! But that's not all… I also got to blow his mind with surprise guest JEFF KRULIK--The Co-Creator of HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT!!!We discuss Mikael's endless creativity and how he decides where to put his energy on any given day, the many hours he spent as a teenager making music on his IBM floppy drive computer, doing David Letterman-style comedy audio cassette recordings, how unusual it was to see Mikael with a computer on stage during his first Wilco tour (and how common it is now), how intense it was for him to join an established band like Wilco, tribalism in music scenes, how the documentary is both terrifying and comforting, how shirtless people outnumber people wearing shirts in this film, Mikael's religious upbringing and its impact on his fear of heavy metal, KISS being in children's TV shows, the genesis of Heavy Metal Parking Lot and how the film found an audience due to VHS tape trading culture, a reenactment of Zebraman's anti punk rock tirade, the undying loyalty of metal fans, Neil Diamond Parking Lot & Heavy Metal Picnic, Judas Priest's reaction to the film, Jeff trying to eat Judas Priest's food backstage, Sofia Coppola wanting to use the film in her work, reconnecting with the stars of Heavy Metal Parking Lot decades later and so much more.So let's smoke a joint so big it stretches across America on this week's episode of Revolutions Per Movie!HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT: https://www.heavymetalparkinglot.com/MIKAEL JORGENSON: https://mikaeljorgensen.com/JEFF KRULIK: https://jeffkrulik.com/WILCO: https://wilcoworld.net/REVOLUTIONS PER MOVIE:Host Chris Slusarenko (Eyelids, Guided By Voices, owner of Clinton Street Video rental store) is joined by actors, musicians, comedians, writers & directors who each week pick out their favorite music documentary, musical, music-themed fiction film or music videos to discuss. The inquisitorial band trudged through the battlefield wasteland, heading toward the northernmost hive of Arcturus IV, in the hopes of retrieving their Heretek target, Talos Ivo. At a checkpoint into the underhive, they were forced to prove they were in fact Khornate cultists. To avoid carving the symbol of Khorne into their own flesh, Morgan grabbed the flight officer they had saved from the wreckage, and carved the symbol into her instead. They then made their way to the mids and The Flensing House, to extract their target. Featuring players Del Borovic, Guy Bradford, Josh Halbot, and Tyler Hewitt, and Dungeon Master Ryan LaPlante. What if feeding what you love—even in the face of despair—could be your most vital climate practice? In this episode, Jennifer offers a guided practice inspired by a recent conversation with climate educator and author Sarah Jaquette Ray, who invites us to face the monstrous scale of climate change not with more fixing, but with more loving. Together, they explored the emotional toll of activism, the trap of numbness, and the surprising resilience we access when we stay rooted in what brings us joy and meaning. This practice is designed for anyone who feels overwhelmed, powerless, or stretched thin by the weight of the world—and who longs to feel more alive, connected, and steady in the long game.In this episode, you'll take away:A fresh perspective on grief and anxiety as signals of what you care most deeply aboutA two-part reflective and experiential practice to help you feed what you loveA gentle invitation to discover how ordinary joys can become acts of resistance and renewalJoin Jennifer in this quiet, potent offering—a return to what enlivens, surprises, and sustains us. Because when you feed what you love, you find others there. And together, we remember how to belong.Links & resources—Get an email from Jennifer every couple of weeks to support you in the hard mess of leading and being human. Crystal Rogers's murder trial is finally underway, bringing renewed focus to a heartbreaking case that has lingered for years. In this critical episode, we go back to the police interview with her boyfriend, Brooks Houck, dissecting his very first statements. We meticulously analyze how Brooks Houck describes the last time he claims he saw Crystal, and crucially, when he says he noticed she was missing. You'll hear us zero in on a particularly striking detail: his puzzling failure to mention her absence in his initial telling of waking up that morning. For Crystal and her family, justice has been tragically slow. We're angry it's taken this long to get to this point, and we're committed to shining a light on every detail. This trial is big news, and if there's enough interest, we'll continue to peel back the layers of this pivotal interview in future episodes.Artwork by StefWithAnFResearch and additional analysis by Lina

I'm joined by David Zahl, returning YHP guest and editor-in-chief of Mockingbird's online magazine. David is also a massive Beach Boys/Brian Wilson fan like myself, so I knew he would be perfect to talk with about what we know about Brian Wilson's personal faith and spirituality. We also celebrate what his music has meant to us personally, playing a lot of song clips along the way. This is a dual-feed episode on both the You Have Permission and Pretty Good Vibrations feeds because the content feels like it fits in both places. Brian Wilson passed away on June 11th. Although my attempt to have a strong line between the first half of the episode (more focused on his faith) and the second (mostly just focused on the music), things got a little blended up. Nonetheless, if you'd like to skip most of the faith/theology stuff, a good place to start listening is around the 60 min mark.
