It won't be this year (Nov 8th in LA), but maybe next year! Next week, we'll take a look at yet another one of our Best Debut Albums--"Dream of the Blue Turtles" by Sting. Proenza draws compelling parallels between the AAPI and Latinx experiences, from forced assimilation and linguistic loss to state violence and Cold War geopolitics. The conversation challenges the flattening effects of labels like “model minority,” advocating instead for nuance, specificity, and coalition-building.
