How many times have you watched the sweaty lesbian fever dream that is Love Lies Bleeding? As you might be able to guess from this episode, Michelle Devereaux and I have stopped counting. Michelle is a feminist film-philosophy expert who joins me to talk about Rose Glass's super queer neo noir, the interplay of genre conventions and gender dynamics, and all the fun intertexts and easter eggs that we found in Love Lies Bleeding. Whether you're into bodybuilding and gender transgression or lesbian romance against all odds, this episode is for you. ReferencesRose Glass' Love Lies Bleeding (2024)Devereaux, Michelle. I got certified in Yin yoga @7 months ago and in Lenora type fashion I searched to find out as much as I can about what I practice and teach so I stumbled upon my guest Josh Summers researching Yin Yoga on my podcast app. His podcast, Everyday Sublime features Josh and his calming and welcoming voice and I learned so much just by listening to him. I knew I had to have him on mine to share all his wisdom with you all. Josh is a Yin yoga teacher, acupuncturist, and meditation instructor. We especially dive deep into the type of meditation he likes to teach, which he calls, Yin meditation. I know you will enjoy this episode!
In the Season Finale of Everyday Sublime for 2018, I take stock of the past year and look ahead to 2019 - and pay tribute to two of my dearest teachers, Rodney Smith and Jack Engler, who are both retiring from their decades of teaching and service. Josh is a Yin Yoga teacher, licensed acupuncturist, and meditation instructor. He conducts workshops, teacher trainings, and retreats in the U.S. and around the world. I met Josh in July 2018 at his 50-hour Yin Teacher Training here in Dublin but I've been listening to his podcast Everyday Sublime since it began. It was an honour to have one of my podcast inspirations as a guest on mine! This podcast is intended to be a reflection on and for practice. For many years, I've signed off my monthly newsletter with the phrase, "From my practice to yours." What this attempts to convey is that first and foremost, I'm a practitioner - a Yin yogi, an acupuncturist, a meditator. As a practitioner, I'm committed to a process of learning, refining, unlearning, integrating, and developing. I hope that these reflections on my practice help you with yours.
