If you’ve discovered my work through this show and you want to know more about the Life is a Festival philosophy and how I met so many fascinating people to interview (or if you just want to hear some silly stories on my birthday) this is the podcast for you! My dear friend David Colón used to have the most delightful weekly radio program on FCC Free Radio called Behind The Mynd. It was a celebration of San Francisco’s local musicians, artists, and creative humans. Every November I would come on the show to review my year. On this episode I had just returned from my biggest festival run as Creative Director of Fest300, Chip Conley’s guide to the world’s best festivals. This was truly the peak of that special chapter in my life and I’m so happy to share it with you now. I’ve offered a lot of my perspectives on the podcast lately, including my morning ritual and my musings on whether life is still a festival in this time of crisis, so why share this now? Well, it’s my good god dang birthday! And I wanted to offer a whiff of nostalgia for a more playful time, a time when we still gathered and when our bungler-in-chief had yet to squeak his way into office. On the program we talk about surrendering to psytrance at Boom Festival Official in Portugal, how to stop showing off at Rainbow Serpent Festival in Australia, why you shouldn’t try iboga in an Airbnb in suburban Cape Town, and finally, how to be “anally dearmored.” The show is filled with jokes, adventure, songs, surprise callers, and the foundational ideas of Life is a Festival. Enjoy!

Today we welcome the wonderful and talented Emily Afton! Emily has been working hard on her new album Archetype and we are excited to dive into the process, the KickStarter that helped fuel its creation, and her life in general. Tim takes his co-hosting spot, as usual, and we’re sure there will be some silliness littered throughout. Enjoy!
It’s our inaugural episode! Behind the Mynd is proud to join the FCCFree team and we kick off with two wonderful guests. First up we welcome Ashleigh Thomas, the artist/creative responsible for Behind the Mynd’s logo/image! We dive into what it’s like to be an illustrator in the Bay area, we share tales of ghosts and Roman trodden roads, and how it feels to not have dreadlocks anymore. Our musical guest is long term friend Scarth Locke, who shares his latest musical project as well as his impeccable wit. Enjoy.
Rae pops a flirt muscle and is rehabilitating it and vows to never share a twin bed again. This episode is not for emetaphobes. Rae requests fans to write Erin and Rae fanfiction. They discuss *This Movie* and Mel Gibson's sexy fair well tour.
