In this episode, we speak with Aharon Horwitz, Co-Founder and CEO of Fullpath Aharon Horwitz isn't your typical founder story. He didn't start with a clear roadmap or a VC-funded plan. Instead, he started with mission, grit, and no backup plan. Before leading one of Israel's fastest-growing startups, Aharon was fighting antisemitism as a student activist at Columbia University, and founding a social venture accelerator to empower marginalized communities. Today, as CEO of Fullpath, Aharon is scaling a Jerusalem-based company that's gaining serious momentum-and doing it in his own way, driven by mission, not ego. “We didn't even know we were going to get money to build it. We were just like, we're going to do this.” This episode is about resilience, long-game thinking, and the realities of leadership when there's no roadmap-just relentless belief. In this conversation, we explore: What it takes to grow a startup from hustle to scale. Aharon shares what it was like to grow Fullpath from 30 to over 250 employees-navigating each stage with new challenges and new stakes. “I remember when it was really difficult for us to get 20 paying customers… and then I looked back and we had 350 clients. Then you just started to feel a change in how the go to market worked, where it wasn't all through this Sisyphean feeling of pushing that rock up the hill. Yes, I'm still pushing rocks, but there's also people who are pulling them up, and it's getting easier and easier.” The raw early days: bus benches, borrowed spaces, no rules. From sleeping in stations to squatting in libraries, Aharon recounts the extremes of the company's earliest days. “The stories I can tell you of that period were pretty intense… they included running out of money, trying to figure out how we're going to pay our bills, personally and professionally for months at a time…,working out of dirty apartments because we we couldn't find an office, or going to the public library at the Hebrew University, and just working there until they kicked us out” Mission as a driver-and obligation as a motivator. Once angel investors came on board, the mindset shifted: “I have to make this work. I took in other people's money. This has to become a success.” The value and risk of design partnerships. Aharon breaks down the strategy behind building with a customer-even if it doesn't scale at first-and why Israeli startups excel at this approach. “build it in a way that doesn't scale with that customer, and you understand it, and then you scale, then you figure out how to scale it.” Making the hard calls under pressure. He opens up about rough investor conversations and risky decisions during tough periods-some that led to Fullpath's most explosive growth. “We had to take some risks that made me feel like, ‘Oh, this is too much.' But we decided we're going to take the risks. We're going to we're going to do what we need to do, and if necessary, clean things up afterwards. And you know, in the end, it was one of our best growth periods ever; we grew like crazy. Leadership as balance-not certainty. This episode is for anyone who's ever wondered if they have what it takes to start. It's for those ready to stop waiting for perfect conditions, trust their instincts, and follow a hunch—even without a perfect plan.

The Real Credit Score Formula—Demystified Howard Dvorkin breaks down the evolution of credit scoring from subjective loan office assessments to the current data-driven FICO model. He emphasizes, “If you take credit out, pay it off. If you can't pay it off immediately... try to keep the utilization under 10%.” Focusing on payment history and credit utilization gives you control over the score that controls so many major financial moments. 2. Insider Secrets to Credit Optimization Anthony Davenport reveals how timing and reporting dates can cause credit scores to fluctuate—even if you pay off your cards monthly. He recommends, “Find out the reporting dates for each of your credit cards and set up your auto payment to pay it off a few days in advance before that date. That way, your credit score is going to stay optimal every month, in and out.” 3. Building Credit Without Going into Debt Cullen Canazares shares how rent (and now, utility) payments can count toward your credit score, thanks to new fintech solutions and imminent industry upgrades. For those without credit cards or thin files, this is a groundbreaking way to build creditworthiness—without taking on new debt. 4. Develop a Mindset for Long-Term Credit Health Reyna Gobel underscores the importance of confidence, knowledge, and bite-sized action. “A lot of people don't know the nutrients they're eating either,” she says, connecting personal finance to health. Starting with small, manageable steps, like pulling your credit report or disputing an error, can yield big results. Call-to-Action Here's my challenge to you this week: Pull your credit report. It's free at AnnualCreditReport.com, and reviewing it is the first step in taking control. Look for errors, understand what's driving your score, and make one small improvement... whether that's paying down a balance, setting up autopay, or reporting your rent. With 1 in 4 businesses unprepared and statutory contributions set to begin on 1 January 2026, employers have just five months to get ready. Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary is urging businesses to "act now", describing auto-enrolment as "the biggest transformation of pension policy in the history of the State." Kota's new offering enables HR and finance teams to implement a compliant occupational pension with Irish Life within minutes. Organisations can sync employee data, set minimum contributions, and have eligible hires automatically enrolled, while staff get an easy-to-use platform to view and manage their savings. "We've spent thousands of hours working alongside Irish employers as they prepare for the upcoming changes" said Trevor Gardiner (QFA,RPA), Head of Benefits at Kota. "Auto Enrolment has been a really positive catalyst, prompting Irish employers to talk seriously about retirement benefits. But from our conversations, it's clear the State scheme won't work for everyone. That's why we've built a solution for companies that want more control over employee experience, cost, and compliance, without the complexity." While a positive step in improving retirement readiness, The Government's 'My Future Fund' offers limited flexibility, increases administrative burdens on employers and includes strict limits that many companies and higher earning staff find unattractive, such as: No Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVCs) and savings locked up until the National Retirement Age of 66. Fixed contribution rates with no room for employer discretion. €80k salary cap on contributions, and reduced tax relief for those taxed at 40%. A Government managed portal that gives employers no control over their employees' experience. However, choosing an Occupational Pension instead of Auto Enrolment presents the challenge of ensuring the scheme is correctly set up to qualify for full exemption. Failure to do so can result in businesses running two pension schemes simultaneously, an outcome both the Government and major pension providers agree causes unnecessary complexity and administrative burden. Yet many employers are receiving limited clarity or practical guidance from their existing brokers, leaving them uncertain about the right course of action and often unaware of these nuances. Kota's purpose-built technology solves this by automatically enrolling employees onto the employers' occupational pension as soon as they're added to their HR System, eliminating the manual work and, thereby, the potential for errors and delays typically involved. Already trusted by Remote.com and hundreds of EU scale-ups including Tines, Protex AI, &Open and Car Wow, Kota delivers a future-ready, robust approach to workplace pensions. This includes: Seamless setup: Sync HRIS & payroll to launch an occupational pension with Irish Life in a few clicks. Always compliant: Synced employee data and eligibility rules ensuring everyone stays covered by the company's Occupational Scheme. Employee engagement & understanding: Consumer-grade app where employees can access, understand and make in-app changes to their savings for retirement. Regulated & secure: Kota holds a Central Bank of Ireland intermediary licence and integrates directly with Irish Life for real-time enrolments and accurate reporting. Proven at scale: Powers benefits for Remote.com and hundreds of EU scale ups. "Thousands of Irish employers are telling us that auto enrolment is a growing concern, with little guidance from traditional brokers," added Luke Mackey, Co Founder & CEO of Kota. "Our goal is to make compliance effortless in just a few clicks, while giving employees the transparent, mobile first experience they e...

When Tim Vipond was asked to help rebuild Newmont Goldcorp's corporate model, the scale was daunting: “20 tabs across… each tab being many hundred rows deep,” he tells us. The model had to account for the intricate economics of mining—from extraction to refinement—and it all had to tie together in a single consolidated NAV model. It was a hands-on assignment that tested both his modeling expertise and his capacity to navigate complexity. That moment, Vipond tells us, helped shape his understanding of what finance professionals truly need: not just theory, but real-world, applied skills. It's an insight that stayed with him as he transitioned from the capital-intensive world of mining to the fast-moving e-commerce space at Shoes.com. The contrast deepened his appreciation for digital business models—and sparked the idea that would eventually become the Corporate Finance Institute (CFI).Vipond didn't plan to launch a training platform. “I was passionate about it,” he tells us, recalling how he began building and teaching modeling courses on his own. A chance connection with MDA Training led to the idea of transforming in-person financial training into self-paced, online learning.Today, CFI has nearly 3 million registered students, with certifications like FMVA and FPAP tailored to match real job descriptions. The company embeds AI into courses like “Advanced Prompting for Financial Statement Analysis,” partnering with industry experts to stay current. For Vipond, the mission is clear: make high-impact learning affordable, practical, and scalable—so finance professionals can lead with confidence in a changing world.

When Ghost co-founders Dan Lourenco and Ryan Hughes launched their fitness and lifestyle brand in 2016, they weren't chasing headlines or quick exits. They were trying to build a company that felt like a movement. From the outset, Ghost resonated with a younger, influencer-savvy audience drawn to its bold, candy- and snack-inspired fitness supplements – flavors like Warhead and Sour Patch Kids brought a nostalgic twist to recovery powders and wellness products. Building on this momentum, the brand expanded into energy and hydration beverages, achieving broad distribution across major U.S. and international retailers while cultivating a strong direct-to-consumer presence. In a significant endorsement of its growth and potential, Keurig Dr Pepper acquired a 60% stake in the company for $990 million in October, with plans to purchase the remaining 40% by 2028. So how did a company that deliberately avoided a traditional marketing playbook become a household name in sports nutrition and energy? In a candid conversation, Dan pulls back the curtain on Ghost's rise — from behind-the-scenes YouTube videos to blockbuster licensing deals and national shelf space. He explains why authenticity remains the brand's North Star — and why, for Ghost, that goes beyond simply being founder-led. Dan also reflects on the personal journey behind the business: how stepping away from social media helped him regain focus, and what scaling a brand taught him about leadership, growth, and staying grounded. Show notes: 0:25: Dan Lourenco, Co-Founder & CEO, Ghost – Dan talks about Ghost's mission to become a “100-year brand” built on authenticity, innovation, and community, and how, despite selling a majority stake to Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP), Ghost has retained its founder-led identity. He also discusses why the brand's growth has been rooted in transparency rather than traditional marketing, how differentiation lies in purposeful innovation, and why the company approaches licensing more selectively than in the past. Dan explains how Ghost's expansion into functional beverages was driven by organic customer behavior, and why he emphasizes staying nimble, preserving brand values, and maintaining a startup mindset. He also reflects on the challenges of founder wellness, learning to balance personal fulfillment with leadership, stepping back from personal social media and how he advises entrepreneurs to focus on what truly matters. Ajay Prakash, Co-Founder & CEO of Rinse shares his story getting raising $70M and how they launched to hit product-market fit! 03:06 – Ajay explains how he wasted three months pitching Series A firms for a seed round. 05:03 – Don't try to predict who will write a check — talk to everyone qualified, but do it in a tight time frame to keep momentum and focus. 06:03 – Their first capital came from a rolling friends & family round — with no set close — raising ~$500–600K before institutional funding. 07:04 – Ajay's co-founder saw declining traffic at his parents' dry cleaning store — they tested an idea within two weeks and got paying customers. 09:02 – Rinse didn't solve one big issue — it solved many small ones. That made the case for building a better, end-to-end dry cleaning experience. 12:14 – Unlike Uber's urgent need, laundry is a chronic pain. Rinse focused on reliability and consistency, not instant gratification. 15:22 – They focused their launch in three SF zip codes to manage operational complexity and ensure quality service before scaling. 16:04 – Ajay and James only began paying themselves once the $2.5M seed round closed in December 2014. 20:07 – He spent Spring 2014 chasing Series A investors with no success — a misalignment that wasted valuable time and delayed their seed raise. 29:06 – Don't let VCs drag things out with vague interest. You need clarity to survive as an early-stage startup. Rinse is creating a seamless dry cleaning & laundry experience for our customers through a combination of technology, incredible customer service, and strong back-end partnerships. www.rinse.com

Here are a few highlights from our conversation: * How Lindsey turned a gap in the towel market into a premium, design-led opportunity * The importance of obsessing over every customer touchpoint—from box to bathroom * Why feedback loops helped shape their core product line and brand evolution * Building a retail-ready experience while staying loyal to DTC roots * What it really means to lead with trust, transparency, and intuition Join me, Ramon Vela, in listening to the full episode to hear what it takes to build a movement around conscious consumption, one bottle at a time.
