In the wake of the verdict of the murder of Breonna Taylor, Black women received yet another reminder that this society has yet to come to the realization that our lives, particularly the lives of Black women and girls matter. We ended this difficult week with National Daughters' Day and I, like many Black women in medicine, took the time to share how meaningful our girls are and to celebrate them. In celebration, I thought it would be great to hear their voices on what it is like for them to be Black girls, ways that parents can support them and their outlook on the challenges and joys that life has for them. As you can imagine, it was an absolutely fun time and pretty spontaneous, to say the least. It's so important for our daughters to share their voices, so here you go. This is the way you want to wrap up your week and go into the weekend ready to TAKE ACTION! The healthy practice of graditude What are some of the daily habits you practice? Maybe for you, it’s going and grinding coffee first thing in the morning. Or maybe it's getting the kids dressed and ready for school. Beyond the ordinary, do you have daily habits that center you? Do you have a rhythm that brings you focus and purpose? On this episode of The Amazing Seller, Scott starts off his Ask Scott Session with some helpful advice. He’s been doing this a lot lately and you can tell that the wisdom he shares is really near and dear to his heart. This week Scott talks about the power of appreciation. It’s all about taking stock in the good that you have in your life and reflecting in gratitude. To hear Scott expand on this wisdom further, listen to this episode! Responding to a hijacked product listing It’s every Amazon sellers fear - your product listing has been hijacked. Not only that, someone has hijacked your high-quality product photos too! What are your options? What recourse do you have available? Unfortunately, there aren’t many options after this has happened. What you do have is options to prevent this from happening in the future. It’s a difficult and cumbersome process but if you’ve been burned or if you are really nervous about someone hijacking your listing and/or product images, there are resources for you. If you’d like to hear what options are available to you regarding copyright and trademarks, listen to this episode and be sure to check out the resources section at the bottom of this post! Keyword optimization for multiple product listings If you’ve been listening to Scott for very long, you know that he is a HUGE fan of diversifying and getting multiple product listings out there. You’ve heard him say that it isn’t a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket. If you’ve heeded this advice you might be in a similar situation that one of your fellow TAS followers is in. He called in and asked Scott how he should focus his efforts on keyword optimization when he has hundreds of product listings. That is a great problem to have! If you want to know the best method to using your time and resources effectively when you have such a large quantity of listings, this is the episode for you! How do you know you aren’t hijacking someone's product listing? With all the talk of listings getting hijacked and sellers losing out on hard earned projected profits, you might be wondering, how do I know I’m not hijacking someone else’s listing? If you are just getting started, it's easy to see why this can be confusing. You are trying to do good product research and break into a product category but you don’t want to be a hijacker. Good! Know the difference. When you find a category you can be competitive in - do your research. Don’t be afraid of swooping in and providing a better product and a greater value to the customers. There is nothing wrong with that. It becomes hijacking when you deliberately sell the exact same product that someone else is selling. To hear Scott expand on these differences, make sure to catch this episode of The Amazing Seller. If you are a new listener to this podcast, welcome! I'm Craig. This is Reza. With over 40 years of teaching between us, we'll help you improve your English and take it to the next level. In this episode: Confusing verbs (say-tell, speak-talk, listen-hear) Más podcasts para mejorar tu ingles en: http://www.inglespodcast.com/ More podcasts to improve your English at: http://www.inglespodcast.com/ Listener Feedback: RAUL (from Valencia)when do you use "realize", "notice" " find out" I think all of them mean the same. Realize and notice es darse cuenta, find out puede ser averiguar o darse cuenta. It's a mess! "Realize" means to know and understand something in your mind. It's a cognitive event. "I realized she didn't love me anymore." "Notice" means to see, hear or feel something. It's more of a physical event. "Reza, I notice you're wearing a new shirt today." / "I notice you've had your hair cut." / I notic you've added more salt than normal to the soup." Find out = to obtain information. "I need to find out what time the train leaves for Madrid tomorrow." / "I was the last one to find out that my girlfriend was cheating on me." Joaquin Ruiz Rufo (email) Hi, I´m looking for information about the use of these sentences, Could you help me? Look like, like and Look - What's the difference? TO LIKE: "I like paella, I like the weather and the people in Valencia." TO LOOK: "That new T-shirt looks great." TO LOOK LIKE = to be similar to: "That shirt looks like a shirt I used to have." / "He looks like his brother." (He and his brother have a similar appearance.) "Reza doesn't like getting up early." (the ACTIVITY of getting up) "Craig likes to get up early because he can have a slow breakfast, get ready slowly, have a shower." (he likes the RESULT) TO BE LIKE: "I've never been to Toledo. What's it like?" / "I don't know John's brother. What's he like?" (¿Cómo es?) "How's John's brother?" (¿Cómo está? - Asking about health)- He was sick, but he's better now." Jorge Jimenez - Confusing verbs: I have a question, What is the difference between to say and to tell (decir)? You say something and you tell a person "He said hello." / "He said he wanted to help me." / "He said something in Spanish." "He told my brother to help him." / "He told the teacher that he had done his homework." TELL the truthTELL a lieTELL a jokeTELL a story "Tell me to shut up.""Tell John." - "Say to John." Prevent/avoid By avoiding something, you take an action to "go around" the problem. Preventing something means actively interfering to stop something happening. "I avoided going to the party by saying I was sick.""I prevented Reza from coming into the room by closing the door." Listen to/hear "To hear a noise" / "Hear people speaking." remember/remind Remind + direct object: "Remind ME to buy milk." You remind SOMEONE TO DO something - "Remind me to write the shownotes to this episode." I've got to leave at 5 p.m. don't forget to remind me. - Tengo que irme a las 5 de la tarde; no te olvides de recordármelo. (make me remember) Remember I remember the day you were born. - Me acuerdo del día en que naciste. / Recuerdo el día en que naciste. Remember is when you think of a memory (a past experience): I remember the first time I met you.Remind is when a person or thing makes you think about something. Our show notes remind us what we need to talk about. look/see/Watch When you look at something you make an effort - "Look at that man over there!"When you see something you do not make an effort - "I can't see you." / "Did you see John yesterday?"When you watch something (the TV, a film, a football match) you make an effort to engage in it. - "I'm watching the film" (Watch = to look with attention) argue/discuss Argue - discutir (to have a row with someone)Discuss - hablar (to have a discussion with someone) fit/suit Suit - to look good "That shirt really suits you."Fit - to be the correct size "This shirt doesn't fit me anymore. It's too small." meet/know (conocer) "Reza and Craig MET each other in 1998. They have KNOWN each other for many years." Meet (quedar)"Shall we meet tomorrow?"- "Yes, let's meet for a beer." do/make Reza and Craig spoke about 'do' and 'make' collocations in Episode 1 and Episode 2 http://www.inglespodcast.com/2014/01/30/aprender-ingles-con-reza-y-craig-1/ http://www.inglespodcast.com/2014/01/30/aprender-ingles-con-reza-y-craig-2/ Raise/Rise Rise does not take an object. It's an intransitive verb - "The sun rises."Raise does take an object so it's a transitive verb - "Raise your hand." / "Ask your boss to raise your salary." / "Ask your boss for a RAISE." (noun) 'Rise' can also be a noun - "The rise of the Roman empire." Manage/succeed Succeed IN + gerund - tener exito "John is a lucky guy.
