How do you work from home without recreating work AT home? That's what today's episode with our guest Stacey Marie is all about. Emma is the founder of the incredibly insightful blog "Simple Slow Lovely", she is a mum of two, lives in New Zealand and is a highly sensitive introvert who loves helping others like her find strength and joy through boundaries and self exploration. Emma joins me today for a chat about how she does 'slow', her ideas for creating a slow family dynamic and why so many of us struggle with slowing down. Surprisingly, it's not just capitalist guilt that causes us to struggle with slowing down, but also the deeper emotional impact of our childhood experiences that can keep us on the busy train. There are those times we discover a healing modality that has such a profound impact on changing the quality of our life that we can't help but share it with everyone we know. It's time to meet my coach! Jo Bendle is the founder of the "Meant For More" movement, she's had a big impact on the love I have for my business and my commitment to seeing "How To Live Slow" have as big of an impact as possible. Jo is a unique activator and even though you could call her a ‘productivity coach' she does more than just giving you the practical tools to get yourself organised. Infact, her framework for that is relatively light - which appeals to my slow and simplified living philosophy! Working with Jo has taken me deeper into the mindset and purpose of productivity, so I can hands down say "I am now more productive than I've ever been while also living the slowest family life". Working through the reasons you procrastinate and getting into the right frame of mind means sitting down to work and actually getting things done - and that means a LOT more time for the other side of life! In this episode: What it means to be Meant For More Why being productive goes hand in hand with slow living What setting goals is really about The three things you need to stay activated Quote: “My Motto: You Didnt Come This Far To Only Come This Far!” Enjoy the episode! Mothers are always trying to find ways to balance everything on their plate. We wear many hats and play lots of roles. We beat ourselves up when we inevitably fail at the impossible task of being everything to everyone, but what if there was a reason outside of ourselves as to why it's hard? My guest Kelly Thistlethwaite from Yorkshire Yogi joins me today to discuss this reason. It's called the inner split and it's one of the foundational concepts of matrescence. In case you are new here and not sure what matrescence is, it's the whole person transformation we experience when we move from woman to mother. Kath Baquie is a physiotherapist and founder of FitNest Mama. We connected in Instagram and decided to record a podcast together to discuss her perspectives of doing less in the postpartum stage for physical recovery and my perspective of why slowing down is essential for wellbeing. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, have a to-do list as long as your arm or just craving a life of doing less, this episode is a must listen. Whether you’re pregnant, a new mamma or finished having babies and in the thick of school run, playdates and extracurricular activities, this episode is all about slowing down and tuning in to what you really want life to be about. We discuss ditching the hustle of modern life, learning how to say no and understanding what your priorities are so you can start shaping your life into something that’s enjoyable instead of stressful. Discuss the importance of rest and why it’s important for our whole lives, not just throughout pregnancy and the early stages of motherhood. We all know what it’s like to feel busy, stressed and overwhelmed. Our modern lives aren’t geared towards rest and yet it’s the very thing our minds and bodies crave. So, sit back, unwind, and slow down as you listen to this episode. Want more slow living inspo? Women are socially conditioned to self-silence, denying our needs for the benefit of others. When we become mothers, this can become very problematic, as Allison Hillery has learned all too well. Allison has supported children and families with evidence based programs in particularly around emotional regulation so she has seen first hand the effects on families when mums self-silence. In her own motherhood experience, the issues of self-silencing manifested as postnatal depression. She joins me today to share some tools on recognising, honouring and moving through our self-silencing. In this episode How to move through self silencing without feeling guilt, shame or blame Disrupting the cycle of self silencing Supporting mums first to support our children What self silencing is and how it relates to mums Want more slow living inspo? Today I’m reflecting on the year that was and how things have changed over the first 12 months of How To Live Slow. A Huge thank you to all of my lovely guests, listeners and subscribers for being here over this time. It’s truly a privilege and an honour to be here with you, supporting each other in learning How To Live Slow. It’s been so beautiful to see that we are all the same - the circumstances of our lives might be different - but we all feel that deep desire to love and know another, and be loved and known. What I’ve realised that almost all of life’s problems can be solved by slowing down a little and allowing time to work its special magic. Want more slow living inspo?
