Send a textLock and load, dear listeners—because this week on Entertain This!, we're storming Alcatraz one meticulously explosive frame at a time. Join the crew as we embed with Nicolas Cage's sweat-drenched biochemist, Sean Connery's improbably dapper ex-SAS escape artist, and Ed Harris's honor-bound general who decided the Geneva Convention was more of a suggestion. From the Fairmont heist that launched a thousand car chases to the shower-room showdown that still makes us flinch, no bullet casing, no VX vial, and no hairpiece goes unexamined. Expect rapid-fire banter sharper than a SEAL's KA-BAR, plot-hole forensics that would impress the FBI, and enough ‘90s Michael Bay pyrotechnics to trigger every smoke alarm in your vicinity. Whether you're a first-time inmate or a repeat offender, this episode delivers a parole-proof good time. Tune in—because in the words of the film's most quotable convict, losers whine about their best… winners go home and listen to Entertain This!Support the show
David is mal wieder da. Cheerio. Learn more about your ad choices. The wasteland can be a dangerous place…especially for those who seek rare, limited edition 4K sets. Legend has it that a store manager named Dave once went looking for the Arrow 4K version of the Friday the 13th 2009 reboot once out in Sector 5, near the old abandoned Barnes and Noble. He went out looking for some high bit rates and some nifty special features…what he got was a nasty bump on the head and a night he'd probably like to forget. ‘Cause when someone asks you if you wanna shoot the boot…you better have a strong stomach and a likin' of Pabst Blue Ribbon, by God.I'm your host and store manager of legend, Dave, and joining me as we watch Michael Bay bay-ify another beloved franchise are fellow cinephiles and former Crystal Lake Camp Counselors Mike and Jackie.Topics of discussion in this episode include a breakdown of the eye rolling era of grim, gritty horror reboots; we wonder what kind of couple has sex five feet from their friends if they aren't supposed to be swingers; and finally, Mike reveals the shocking reality that Friday the 13th and Transformers share the same cinematic universe…and it all begins with a douchebag named Trent.Be sure to rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. You can also Like Us on Facebook, or shoot us an email at apocalypsevideopod@gmail.com That'll do it for this obligatory Friday the 13th episode. In this latest episode of the Big Shot Bob Podcast, hosts Robert Horry, Brandon Harper, and Rob Jenners dive headfirst into an action-packed discussion on the latest happenings in the NBA. The episode kicks off with a talk about a recent intense NBA brawl that saw Isaiah Stewart and several others facing suspensions. The guys share their thoughts on NBA fights, how the league's image has been cleaned up over the years, and the implications for the involved teams, particularly focusing on the Pistons' evolving identity as the 'bad boys' of the modern era. They also discuss the dramatic aftermath and the culture of physical play in today's NBA compared to previous generations. Next, the crew delves into the NBA trade deadline aftermath, dissecting major trades such as James Harden's move to the Cavaliers and Darius Garland going to the Clippers. They analyze the impact of these trades on both teams in the short and long term. The conversation also covers other notable trades like Jonathan Kuminga's trade to the Hawks and Anthony Davis's surprising move to the Wizards. Amidst the trade-talk, there's speculation about Giannis Antetokounmpo's future and the possibility of him leaving the Bucks. The episode also touches on the Jazz's recent decisions, emphasizing their apparent push for tanking and the broader implications for the team and the league. The podcast isn't just limited to NBA drama; it also discusses the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend, announcing participants for the Slam Dunk Contest and the Three-Point Contest. There's excitement about Damian Lillard's return to the three-point contest and the prospects of other sharp shooters. Additionally, the hosts celebrate the Seattle Seahawks' Super Bowl victory while sharing personal anecdotes from their Super Bowl weekend, including Robert Horry's surprising visit to Michael Bay's house. The episode wraps up with a lively game of Shootout, where the hosts test their knowledge on NBA Finals MVPs and teams that have never won a Super Bowl. 00:00 Introduction and Podcast Kickoff 01:22 NBA Brawl Breakdown 08:05 NBA Trade Deadline Aftermath 09:03 Giannis Trade Speculations 10:24 James Harden Trade Analysis 14:57 LeBron James' Future 23:14 Anthony Davis to the Wizards 29:51 Utah Jazz Tanking Strategy 36:32 Shaq's Controversial Comments and Jazz's Tanking Strategy 37:48 All Star Weekend Highlights and Predictions 40:07 NBA Standings and Ketamine Controversy 42:12 Super Bowl Recap and Michael Bay's Party 49:41 Big Shot of the Week: Heroic 13-Year-Old Saves Family 51:52 Shootout Game

The film is brutally short on context, but don't worry - that's what we're here for. Join us to talk interventionism, AMERICAN SNIPER, Office Jim, Hillary Clinton, and more. Our Celebrity News starts with a Welcome back to The Rizzuto Show, your favorite daily comedy show where deep philosophical questions last about 90 seconds before turning into chaos.Today's episode starts deceptively thoughtful: What genre is your life? Comedy? Horror? Rom-com? Greek tragedy? Straight-to-DVD disappointment? The crew breaks it down in the only way they know how — by roasting each other, name-dropping directors, and somehow landing on Tim Burton, Judd Apatow, Michael Bay, and Tommy Wiseau in the same breath. From there, things escalate fast. The gang debates the worst Super Bowl halftime show of all time, re-litigates Maroon 5's shirtless crimes against humanity, and tries (and fails) to agree on whether Bad Bunny, Kid Rock, or literally anyone else should be allowed near a halftime stage ever again. Spoiler: nobody wins. For you music nerds get fed too. KISS casually hits one billion YouTube views, Queen's touring future sparks debate, Aerosmith dreams are manifested aggressively, and a wild Paste Magazine “Top Guitarists of All Time” list sends the room into full disbelief when legends are left off and Prince reigns supreme. There's also real-world stuff mixed into the madness — heartfelt tributes, shocking news updates, and moments where the show accidentally becomes emotional before immediately undercutting it with jokes (as tradition demands).Basically, this daily comedy show has everything:Existential life questionsSuper Bowl halftime rageRock music historyQuestionable celebrity listsAccidental documentaries about being humanAnd the reminder that everyone's life is probably a comedy… just shot very poorlyIf you're here for a funny podcast, a daily show that refuses to stay on topic, or a comedy podcast that feels like your group chat came to life on the radio — congratulations, you're home.Stick around, subscribe, and prepare to question what genre your life is… while we absolutely do not fix ours.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MOSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The 90s were full of high-octane, over-the-top action flicks, and one of the most memorable was THE ROCK. Starring Nicolas Cage, Ed Harris & Sean "Slap Her" Connery. We remember this one being a fast-paced, testosterone-fueled, take-no-prisoners flick from start to finish, and we can't wait to watch it again. You can't argue that the 90s weren't stylized, but did they lack substance? We couldn't care less if stuff blows up real good, and with Michael Bay behind the camera, we're almost positive stuff blows up just fine.
Kulttuuriykkösen keskustelussa MTV Europen juontajana vuosina 1993-1997 toiminut europarlamentaarikko Maria Guzenina, pohjoismaisista musiikkivideoista tietokirjan juuri julkaissut musiikkitieteiden professori John Richardson Turun yliopistosta sekä Oulun musiikkivideofestivaaleilla omaa kuratoitua musiikkivideotapahtumaa vuosia vetänyt musiikkitoimittaja Veli Kauppinen. BEFORE WE BEGIN – the best way to enjoy today's stupidity is in the form of video, which as a special thank you to all of you for another great year, I have edited together and made FREE at patreon.com/funeralkazoo. No strings attached. Just a gift to you all, with hopes for happy holidays and a fantastic new year. –––––You ever watch a big, blockbuster sci-fi action adventure movie that turns out to be so bereft of technical and scientific merit or accuracy that you almost start to like it? Me neither! On today's very special Christmas Disaster Moviesode: we'll start by joining the shortest, worst, and probably my personal favourite business presentation of all time; we'll learn how the US government tried to spite it's enemies by giving the planet the Alderaan treatment, twice; and we'll meet the man tasked with fixing all this, and saving Earth, and everything on it, but who doesn't even know how to put on a coat.Welcome to the return of the disaster moviesode! We haven't done this in a while, but our last episode on Michael Bay's 1998 shlocktacular Armageddon was so popular, there was no way we weren't coming back to this. I promise if I win the lotto over the holidays, I'll make moviesodes a regular thing thing.Today's story, currently sits at 34% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is a film that critics called “a modestly fun exercise in disappointment”, and “as aggressively loud and obnoxious as it is tiresomely stupid”. It's 2 hours and 15 minutes, which I sat through so you didn't have to… it is my distinct pleasure to bring you this very special presentation, the 2003 Aaron Eckhart disaster masterpiece, The Core, made free to one-and-all here on Patreon as a thank you for another great year. Grab your popcorn and your safety glasses and kick your kids out of the room because otherwise this is going to make them stupider, and let's begin.–––––THANK YOU. Most shows survive at the whim of production companies and corporate sponsors, built from the top down. Doomsday doesn't exist because some network exec believes in it – it exists because actual people do. It's built from the bottom up, and it's been my privilege to bring you these stories. Just you, me, and a microphone. I don't do this for you, so much as I do this because of you. Cindy Gallop is a brand and business innovator, consultant, coach, and keynote speaker who helps leaders and organizations change the game in their industries. Known for her radical, no-status-quo approach to business transformation, she's unapologetically bold — "I like to blow shit up. I am the Michael Bay of business." She empowers people and companies to own the future — to become the leaders they want to be, build the businesses they envision, and create truly inclusive, gender-equal workplaces. Cindy believes adversity breeds opportunity and that today's breakdowns create space for the boldest new ideas to emerge. As a consultant, coach, and diversity advocate, Cindy works with forward-thinking brands and leaders ready to reinvent themselves, driving transformative growth through fearless creativity and strategic innovation — helping them blow up what's broken and build what's next. During the show we discuss: What it really means to disrupt business responsibly and rebuild what's broken Designing future-ready companies rooted in trust and innovation Turning crisis, disruption, and fear into growth opportunities Why trust-driven leadership outperforms control-based cultures Building inclusion, equality, and diversity directly into the profit model Shifting from surface-level D&I efforts to systems that drive real change Lessons from working with iconic global brands and building taboo-breaking companies The mindset shift required to blow up the old and build what's next Resources: https://cindygallop.com/

In this week's L.A.M.E. Book Club episode, we dive into Crescent City chapters 61–70 and… whew. Sarah J. Maas really said, “What if we emotionally demolish them mid-book?” We talk through Bryce's brutal healing scene (aka peak “sweetheart” content from Hunt), the so-called Living Death punishment, and the absolutely unhinged reveal about Danika, synth, and what really happened to the pack. We also spiral about the Bone Quarter vs. the Sleeping City, rant about Hunt's Very Poor Life Choices at the river drug deal, and scream when Fury “liquid night” Axstar steps out of the shadows. Plus, we get into our crack theories about Viktoria the wraith, the glass box at the bottom of the sea, and how book 4 might drag us all into river chaos. All of that, plus Rosie the Riveter pep talks, Michael Bay cutaways, liquid death tangents, and a Patreon afterparty where we match Disney movies to book recs (and yes, we have thoughts about Zootopia 2). Why did a great American director who doesn't speak French make a movie about one of the most famous French movies of all time? What was the French new wave all about? Why does Zoey Deutch resemble Jean Seberg as deeply as she does? Why didn't Corbin remeber Hit Man when talking about Linklater and Netflix? How is Michael Bay involved in all this? Why doesn't anyone do this kind of thing anymore? IT'S NOUVELLE VAGUE FOLKS! Watch it here! Corbin rec. (Corbin also recommends Plurbis). Matt recommends The Museum. Next episode is about EARTH. You can watch it here.
The average lake around the world is about the size of a large parking lot – the kind of thing you might try to skip a stone across. The current World Record for stone skipping is 88 skips. If you were to skip a stone across the lake we're visiting today, it would have to beat that number by about 406, 912 and it would be bouncing across the water for about three hours. On today's episode: You'll learn about the most boat-hungry lakes anywhere in the world; you'll see why you would rather be beaten half-to-death in the face with a bat than visit the site of today story; and you'll find out how a cherished keepsake from our tale was recovered by a nightmarish bright orange, alien-shaped robot monster made out of airplane-grade aluminum. And because you are listening on Patreon… you will figure out if flat-earthers are just the dumbest people in the world or the dumbest people in history; you will get to walk through the deadliest things to ever happen on the Greatest Lake system in the world; and you will hear a sode inside a sode about a storm from 1913 so powerful than when they needed a name they settled on “Great”.We can only barely understand how frightening today's story must have been for the men who were lost and the families they left behind. I feel a real responsibility to tell their stories with accuracy and respect knowing there are real people out there connected to the story and still wounded by it. That said, outside of calling the ship the Eddy Fitz one time, and then the way I give description to the indescribable physical hell you'd experience if you grabbed a snorkel and tried to visit the site of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, I think maintained a definite air of respect during this episode. You'd be honestly surprised at how many people were so deeply touched and effected by the event. Sorry for sounding so gloomy at the end, but sometimes I get bummed out. Not as bummed as the families of those lost on Gitchi Goomie mind you. With all that said, there are only two more episodes in the year, but they are really something. We'll be having our least nauseating visit to Victorian England in search of outdoor entertainment. And the last episode is our return to the Disaster Moviesode format by popular demand. The last time we did one, it was the 1998 Michael Bay schlocktacular “Armageddon” – a movie so bereft of sense or scientific consideration, they used it at NASA as a test to see how many things you could find wrong with it. Well, this time, we have a film so preposterous, it makes Armageddon look misunderstood. And it contains within it's 2 hours and 15 minute running time almost every type of disaster, except ironically, asteroids. It's the 2003 Aaron Eckhart movie, “The Core”, and I know you're going to like it. I saw it in the theatre, and I certainly didn't.If you like what you hear today, why not consider becoming a supporter of the show at Patreon.com/FuneralKazoo AD-FREE EPISODES, LONGER EPISODES, EXTRA CONTENT, all that good stuff (I'm truly sorry about those ads, I don't get to control them or their placement). Welcome back to The Movie Draft House & Happy Thanksgiving! We're wrapping up November 2025 this week with our year-long theme of "one degree of separation" where each new film we review has to have some connection to the previous weeks' film. This week we reviewed the Michael Bay directed action flick "13 Hours: The Secret Soldier of Benghazi" starring John Krasinski. Tune in to find out what we thought of this one...How we got here:Last week we watched "The Quiet Place Part II" directed by John KrasinskiThis week we watched "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi" starring John KrasinskiFollow the podcast across all social media!Twitter Instagram TikTokYouTube
Get ready for a massive wave of nostalgia! We're breaking down the three biggest pop culture comebacks of 2025: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, G.I. Joe, and Transformers! Which classic franchise will dominate the box office and toy aisles this year? Detail, Analysis & Secondary Keywords] In this full-length deep dive, we analyze the current state of 80s and 90s reboots and why these three titans of geek culture are making such a huge return in 2025. Turtles Talk: We look at the new TMNT movie, its animation style, voice cast, and how it connects to the legacy of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films and cartoons. Are the Heroes in a Half Shell finally getting the treatment they deserve? G.I. Joe Gear-Up: The latest G.I. Joe projects are heating up! We discuss the rumors surrounding the live-action movie, new Classified Series toy lines, and whether the Real American Heroes can capture a new generation of fans. Cobra! Transformers Transformed: With a new movie on the horizon and massive success from the Hasbro toy lines, we explore the new direction for the Autobots and Decepticons. Is this the best time to be a Transformers fan since the 1980s? We compare the new projects to Generation 1 and the Michael Bay era.
"I'M DONE SAVING YOU." Transformers has been a franchise that has endured for forty years in TV, games, comics, and films -- despite the latter being tumultuous for nearly two decades. The Michael Bay films were box office hits but only seemed to grow sour with the audience more and more over time, and did no favors for the Bumblebee spinoff or the first Bay-less live action attempt with Rise of the Beasts. Then, for the first time since the eighties, an animated film hit theaters last year. Despite its poor marketing and box office flop, it has become a cult classic among fans, and definitely amongst us. So, how does it hold up one year later? Come join Brian, Alec, and special guest Darby (@gwenstacying) to find out as they revisit the phenomenal TRANSFORMERS ONE!
Send us a textDo you remember the 90s action-packed sci-fi extravaganza Armageddon starring like everyone? Directed by Michael “Blow It Up” Bay and produced by Mr. Blockbuster himself, Jerry Bruckheimer. Everyone said it was stupid, but it made a KAJILLION dollars. So join us as we join Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton, Ben Affleck, Owen Wilson, Liv Tyler, Will Patton, Steve Buscemi, and a bunch more for the movie that is Special Effects Heavy if not a little light on the reality of Science.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?
This week on The Middle of Culture, we close out our dive into Transformers with Transformers One, last year's animated prequel that tells the origin story of Optimus and Megatron. We rave about how shockingly good it is—beautiful animation, heartfelt storytelling, and voice performances that actually make you care about robots punching each other. Along the way, we talk about Sanderson's declining prose, the “YA-ification” of modern fiction, the decline of mass-market paperbacks, and why we'll always have a soft spot for dumb robot movies done well.Episode NotesOpening BanterPeter returns from travel (Boise and Napa), happy to be home.Eden vents about a rough week and hostile engineers during digital accessibility training, complete with an on-campus shooting alert mid-meeting.Peter describes an incredible dinner at Bistro Jeanty in Napa (truffle deviled eggs, beef bourguignon, and chocolate croissant bread pudding).Books & ReadingPeter finishes Murder Your Employer by Rupert Holmes (yes, the “Piña Colada Song” guy)—a darkly funny and satisfying story about the McMaster's School of Homicide.Reads Artificial Condition, the second Murderbot novella, and starts Write Your Novel from the Middle.Discussion on how story structure midpoints define theme and cohesion.Critique of Brandon Sanderson's Wind and Truth: great worldbuilding, but noticeably weaker prose since losing his longtime editor.Eden speculates that the issue might extend to the whole fantasy industry—less editing, more aesthetic consumerism, and the death of the mass-market paperback.Broader talk on the “dumbing down” of fiction and the rise of YA and “New Adult” markets catering to comfort rather than challenge.Music & Games CornerPeter dives into rediscovering Psychotic Waltz, Psychonaut, and Oramet—bands that balance progressive creativity with restraint.New release highlight: PowerWash Simulator 2.Eden tests two disappointing gacha games (Duet Night Abyss and Resonance Solstice) and finally uninstalls all HoyoVerse titles.Back to Final Fantasy XIV, excited about the new patch allowing full cross-class glamours.Main Feature – Transformers One (2024)Both agree: it's the best Transformers movie ever made—heartfelt, gorgeously animated, and genuinely emotional.Plot rundown: Orion Pax (Optimus) and D16 (Megatron) rise from the oppressed underclass of “Cogless” robots, uncover Sentinel Prime's corruption, and witness the birth of Autobot vs. Decepticon ideology.Core theme: friendship, betrayal, and revolution—the tragedy of two friends who believe in justice but choose different paths.Voice acting highlights:Brian Tyree Henry's nuanced Megatron is phenomenal.John Hamm nails the duplicitous Sentinel Prime.Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth have real chemistry, even if Hemsworth is the weakest link.Laurence Fishburne brings gravitas as Alpha Trion.Keegan-Michael Key's Bumblebee is purposefully annoying but fits the tone.Praise for the movie's subtle callbacks to the 1986 film (“You don't have the touch or the power”), strong emotional beats, and sense of earned tragedy. Both lament how poorly it performed at the box office—“we are part of the problem”—and hope it gets a sequel.Brief detour comparing the animated film's depth to the shallow chaos of the Michael Bay series.Closing ThoughtsTransformers One feels like the first time the franchise truly understood its own heart.Recommendation: watch it—it's smart, emotional, and fun as hell.

It's Die Hard in a phone booth! This week on DIE HARD ON A BLANK we're in a glass case of emotion with special guests Katie Walsh and Blake Howard as we discuss the 2002 high-concept thriller PHONE BOOTH, starring Colin Farrell and Forest Whitaker!Slick, sleazy, unscrupulous celebrity publicist Stu Shepard (Colin Farrell) lies for a living, hustling on behalf of his clients while strutting the streets of New York, and constantly making and taking phone calls with the help of a young intern named Adam (Keith Nobbs). However, while visiting one of the city's few remaining phone booths to secretly call a young actress he is trying to sleep with behind his wife's back, Stu suddenly finds himself in the middle of a terrifying situation…when an unidentified “Caller” (Kiefer Sutherland) informs Stu that he will kill him with a sniper rifle unless he remains in the phone booth and follows all his demands… As the two hosts of the MIAMI NICE podcast, our friends Blake and Katie are no stronger to the joys of Colin Farrell…nor of director Joel Schumacher, whose life, career and filmmaking style are all discussed at length. We also get into the film's long and tortured development history, other directors who were considered to helm Larry Cohen's long-gestating screenplay (including Michael Bay), and of course, the surprisingly high amount of “Die Hard DNA” crammed into that confined space. We hand out some awards in the “Die Hard Oscars” and wrap things up with the “Double Jeopardy Quiz”…where the scores can really change. Schumacher stans rise up!TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUqTCsjCsA8At the time of release, PHONE BOOTH is available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV/iTunes, YouTube, Fandango and all the usual platforms!Click here to subscribe to our Patreon feed 48 HOURS OF BUDDY MOVIES!www.patreon.com/48hoursofbuddymovies Hosted on Acast.
