Som 2-tallet i titlen indikerer, er High on Life 2 en efterfølger til High on Life fra 2022 - et spil, som blev Squanch Games' største hit til dato.Men det er ikke helt det samme team, der laver efterfølgeren. En markant skikkelse forlod nemlig firmaet kort efter udgivelsen af High on Life, og den person er Justin Roiland.Justin Roiland er særligt kendt som medskaber af tv-serien Rick and Morty, hvor han også lagde stemme til flere karakterer, blandt andet Rick og Morty.
