Jamie Dailey is a ball of energy, both on stage and off. After making some legendary music with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, he formed the award-winning Dailey & Vincent with Darrin Vincent. For over fifteen years, they have found immense success in bluegrass and beyond. Dailey & Vincent host their own television show and were made members of the Grand Ole Opry in 2017. In August of 2020, Daniel joined Jamie at his kitchen table in Nashville, for an insightful conversation (filled with laughs and tears) about the power of music, bringing Lester Roadhog Moran out of retirement, the importance of setting goals, and what it means to be a part of the Opry family. Ya know, when you get a chance to talk to a talent like Jamie Dailey, you take it. Grammy winner, Emmy nominated, member of the Grand Ole Opry and a great musician and story teller. Check out my conversation with Jamie.
In this episode of Backroads and Backstories, Senator Paul Bailey chats with Grand Ole Opry member Jamie Dailey, from the bluegrass and country music duo Dailey & Vincent. Jamie shares what drives his passion for music and more!
In honour of his birthday, we celebrate Jamie Dailey with four cuts from the wonderful new CD he did with his dad J.B. We also have some other birthdays to celebrate and lots of great new music. Stay safe and enjoy the music.
“It has been a true honor to produce, sing and play on my Dad’s record. I’ve been encouraging him for years to let me produce a CD with him and he finally agreed. Several years ago, my Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and it has taken its toll on him, especially when he plays guitar or dobro. Unfortunately, it can affect his voice at times. We took our time with this CD and recorded when he was feeling up to it. www.sbbradio.org & 91.7 LPFM Community Radio
Jamie Dailey performing "In the Garden" live on the podcast
Jamie Dailey is half of the Grammy nominated bluegrass group Dailey and Vincent. He joins us on the podcast to talk about the groups rise to success, how they navigated the music industry to build a successful, sustainable career, the feeling of playing Carnegie Hall, growing up in a one stop light town, and chatting with Ryan Seacrest on the Red Carpet (for a Grammy that Scott and I think they should have won). Jamie even plays a really great version of an old Gospel classic at the end.
Jamie Dailey and Darren Vincent came together just over a year ago, and in that time they have taken the Bluegrass world by storm. After being crowned IBMA Entertainer of the Year and receiving Album of the year honors for their debut project, their second disc " Brothers form Different Mothers" has high expectations.
HAL KETCHUMs latest CD Father Time is the ninth album in a distinguished musical career that includes such indelible Top 10 hits as "Small Town Saturday Night," "Past The Point of Rescue," "Hearts Are Gonna Roll" and "Stay Forever." Reared in the village of Greenwich in the gorgeously verdant countryside of upstate New York, Ketchum hails from a family where singing and playing music was part of the daily (and nightly) diet for generations. DAILEY & VINCENT captured an unprecedented seven International Bluegrass Music Awards including the IBMA Entertainers of the Year. Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent are veterans of Bluegrass music having some twenty years experience between the two of them from long tenures with Bluegrass and Country legends Doyle Lawson and Ricky Skaggs.
