A native of The Woodlands, Texas, Brynn King is currently a graduate student at Roberts Wesleyan University, competing on the Redhawks track & field team. King was the first-ever NCAA Division II National Champion at RWU, winning the 2024 NCAA indoor pole vault national championship. King did so by breaking her own NCAA Division II indoor pole vault record, clearing 4.65 meters (15-feet, 3 inches) at the NCAA Division II Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas. She has since won two more NCAA National Championships in pole vault, and just set the NCAA women's outdoor pole vault record with a jump of 4.75-meters (15-feet, 7-inches) at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on March 29. King also competed for the United States Olympic Team in 2024 in Paris, France after clearing a jump of 4.73 meters (15-feet, 6 1/4 inches) on June 30 at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field during the Olympic Trials to catapult from eighth in the standings to finish third and earn a spot on Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics. King would go on to finish 22nd in the event in her first Olympic appearance. In this episode, King discusses how she got involved in track & field, how she overcame injuries by surrounding herself with believers who encouraged her off the track, her experience at the Olympic Trials and at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and how the Roberts Wesleyan community has rallied around her over the last year.

"Sometimes you need to just shut your brain off and run." At this time last year, Karissa Schweizer was undergoing foot surgery. Then, as she mounted her comeback heading into an Olympic year, she faced another setback: a femoral stress fracture. But as we know, the comeback is always greater than the setback, and Karissa proved that by racing both the 5000m and the 10,000m at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team Trials on her home turf at Hayward Field in Eugene, OR, making the team in both distances. She went on to finish in the top 10 in both events at the Paris Olympic Games. Karissa's season didn't end there: She went on to race the 5000m at the Zurich Diamond League, she raced (and won!) the Fifth Avenue Mile, and she ran a season's best in the 5000m at the Diamond League Final in Brussels. Now, the two-time Olympian, Nike-sponsored athlete, and longtime Bowerman Track Club member is back in Oregon for some much-deserved downtime, and back on the Ali on the Run Show to catch us up on all of it. Tyler Brinks, a dear friend and 2:34 marathoner, joins me in conversation for Episode 34. Tyler and I had one academic year together at Hope College, where we logged many XC and track miles as Dutchmen in 2013-14. I remember quickly forming a bond over running fandom. Tyler has been on the podcast before — the debut episode, no less! — to discuss marathons and track world records. I wanted this episode to be about Tyler. We talked about his marathon progression, some standout Hope moments, an awesome steeplechase experience he had at Hayward Field, and the mile he ran in boots on an indoor track right before we started recording. // Subscribe, tell a friend, recommend. Thank you for listening. Celebrate every step!

The track is HOT. Okay, it's actually quite pleasant by Eugene-in-June standards, with temperatures in the high 70s and a pleasant breeze that always seems to be a tailwind in Hayward Field. But the performances laid down last night in Day 8 of the Olympic Trials sure heated up the stadium — even in events where we're not on finals yet. For the first time in history, three men broke 13 seconds in the same 110m hurdles race as Grant Holloway picked up his second national title, made his second Olympic team, and clocked the fourth-fastest performance in history ahead of Freddie Crittenden and Daniel Roberts's lifetime bests. Five men broke 20 seconds in the 200m semifinals led by Noah Lyles's wind-aided 19.60, and another epic battle between Gabby Thomas and Sha'Carri Richardson is set up in the women's 200m final. While middle-distance rounds can sometimes get tactical, they sure didn't tonight. It took 4:05.36 to make the final of the women's 1500m, and the “heavy hitters” heat did not disappoint with Nikki Hiltz making a statement with a 4:01.40 win and five finishes at 4:02.14 or faster. The 1500m final will be absolutely stacked, and in the mixed zone competitors were suggesting that it may make times well under 4 minutes just to make the team. In the men's 800m, it's clear that qualifying for the Games in the 1500m has lifted a weight off Hobbs Kessler's shoulders, as he seems to be absolutely elated in each round of racing and led all semifinal qualifiers with a huge personal best of 1:43.71. Kessler skipped the 1:44s entirely as his PB heading into this weekend was 1:45.07. It's now officially the weekend and, bittersweetly, our final two days of action, so make sure you don't miss any of these incredible competitions over the last few finals. If we've learned anything form the action we've seen so far, we're in store for something very, very fast in multiple events. Also competing is fellow Oregonian Jaida Ross, a University of Oregon junior who was named the 2024 National Women’s Field Athlete of the Year earlier this month after she became the first collegiate woman to throw the shot put more than 20 meters. “The absolute goal is to make the Olympic team. I'm still working my job at Walmart five days out of the week. I got a little bit of time off for this situation right here to make the team. Ever since Millrose, ever since the Today Show, I've been working. "This particular conversation, I did cry more. It was the most pivotal moment of my life. I was just telling her, ‘This is my breakthrough moment.' I told her that before this even happened… I told her, ‘Just let me feel you, let me know that you're here.' And she did in the blocks." McKenzie Long of Ole Miss swept the sprint titles with victories in the 100 meters, 200 meters and anchoring the 4x100 meters. All of that happened in a span of about 90 minutes. Her winning time in the 200 meters of 21.83 seconds is the fastest in the world as we head into the U.S. Olympic Trials. She has a very strong chance of qualifying for Team USA and making the Olympic team, if she finishes in the top three of either individual event. After one of the races in Eugene, McKenzie got emotional on-air on ESPN while dedicating her win to her mother, who died during this past indoor season. In this episode, McKenzie opens up about how she grieved and coped with the loss while in the middle of a season. She shares how she sees and feels her mother's presence with her daily. A beautiful photo captured by photographer Kane Nguyen went viral where she's sitting in the bleachers at Hayward Field with her head down, reflecting and connecting with her mother. She tells us about that photo and a surprise she had when she got into the blocks before the 100 meters. The D3 Champ is now the D1 champ. Last week, Cheick Traore went into Hayward Field and walked away with the 200m title after running 19.95. Cheick's progressions has been so fun to watch. He came out of high school without even thinking about Division 1 and went to Ramapo College to continue his track career. Once at Ramapo, he believe in his coaches and bought into the idea that he can improve. He never thought he would improve this much. Traore credit Ramapo for his development and preparing him to make the next jump to Penn State. At Penn State, the training schedule stayed the same which made his transisition easier. Add in teammates to train with and Cheick opened up faster than he finished the indoor season in D3. He knew something special can happen. Cheick signed with Total Sports to represent him and will turn pro. All the information will be announced at a later date. He will be representing Ivory Coast at the Olympics! Making D3 Proud. Hayward Field. Pre's Trail. The birthplace of Nike. From Bill Dellinger to Galen Rupp. And Andrew Wheating to Matthew Centrowitz. The men of the University of Oregon have a rich tradition, perhaps greater than any other team in the country. Current mid-distance star Elliott Cook is a fitting torch bearer for the Duck legacy. Originally from Dublin, Ohio, Elliott moved to the Pacific Northwest for school, and has punctuated his career so far with recent Pac 12 championships in the 800 and 1500 meters. He'll chase Oregon immortality this week at the NCAA Championships. And he'll do so on his home track with joy, a thoughtful approach, and immense reverence for his storied program. Elliott is our third guest in our series chronicling the journeys of local stars on their way to the upcoming Eugene Olympic Trials. Questions, comments, or show ideas? PORTLAND(ish) — We have some important news to break here on The I-5 Corridor: According to sources, Andrew Greif is “questionable” for the Media 400 on Saturday at the Prefontaine Classic. For longtime I-5 subscribers, you may remember the time Andrew and I decided to dust off the spikes to dash around Hayward Field at the 2022 Pre-Classic. Well, I'm out this year because I'm in Africa. And while Andrew did sign up for Saturday's race, my source tells me there's some Achilles tightness that could make it a game-time decision. Thankfully, Andrew's laptop is healthy and he'll be there all weekend writing about the real athletes for World Athletics. But first, Andrew stopped by The Traffic Report to preview this weekend's Prefontaine Classic and tell us a little about what he's been up to since his time covering the Clippers for the LA Times came to an end earlier this year. Then I ask him if he's going to lean more Lanning or Dabo when it comes to utilizing the transfer portal when NCAA Football 24 hits shelves next month. In the second part of this episode, I sit down at Lombard House with owner Brian Koch, who will be hosting Philadelphia Eagles' tight end Grant Calcaterra at the bar on Saturday for a fundraiser to support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. It's a great cause, a great bar and I would highly recommend getting up to St. Johns on Saturday for some great company and drinks. For more, listen to this podcast in the player above or find us over on Apple or Spotify. As for me, I still have another week here across the world. I've been weighing whether I should write some sort of Travel Blog for when I get back, but I also get really bored when other people talk about their vacations, so let me know if that's a non-starter. I will make you look at a few pictures, though. And hey, if you want to subscribe to The I-5 Corridor and help out so I don't have to worry about working during my next once-every-two-years vacation, we'd sure appreciate the support! “Personally, it's always been the mission… We're willing to be patient. But we're also very keen on what the mission is. It's not to stop at championships. It's not to stop at fast times. It's not to stop at American Records. It's not to get content. We are here to completely push the boundary every time. I'm very vocal about that...I've posted what my time goals are for the World Championships. I'm here to run 9.65 and I'm here to run 19.10. The crazy thing is it causes so much controversy. Why should my dream or belief cause controversy with you? It has nothing to do with you. If I don't get it, and if I do get it, how does it change your life? So many people want to have an opinion on it. And so many people want to tell me what I can and can't do. But you know what they can't tell me? What I ran in practice yesterday. And I bet that's the information you need to know if I'm going to actually run it or not.” Two-time world champion and Olympic bronze medalist Noah Lyles jins the CITIUS MAG Podcast to break down all of the biggest revelations in his new two-part documentary series with NBC Sports. "Untitled: The Noah Lyles Project" premieres on Friday, August 18 exclusively on Peacock. We managed to get an advanced look at the documentary and were able to record this interview before the series debuts. At the upcoming World Championships in Budapest, Lyles will attempt to defend his 200m world title and has been open about the fact that he is trying to break Usain Bolt's 200m world record. The documentary follows him in training, at the New York City Grand Prix, the U.S. Championship and Paris Diamond League. Part II of the documentary series will follow him through the World Championships and will air on Friday, September 15 – one day before the Diamond League Final at Hayward Field in Eugene. MDJ Script/ Top Stories for August 11th Friday Publish Date: Aug 1 Thursday Commercial: Henssler :15 From the Henssler Financial Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast Today is Friday August 10th and happy 69th birthday to wrestler Hulk Hogan ***Hulk*** I'm Dan Radcliffe and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Engineered Solutions of Georgia 1. Cobb commission approves new terminal for county airport 2. Cobb approves $500K for sheriff-led training facility in 4-1 vote 3. And Cobb's housing pinch laid out in presentation from task force All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subcribe! Commercial : ESOG STORY 1 airport Cobb County International Airport — McCollum Field is set to undergo significant improvements, following unanimous approval by the Board of Commissioners. Airport operator Hawthorne Global Aviation Services will construct a new terminal and 65,000 square feet of hangar space as part of a revised agreement. The $25 million project will be entirely funded by Hawthorne. The original plan was a $250,000 renovation, but growth and post-COVID rebound led to the decision for a complete overhaul. The new terminal is due by June 2025, with additional hangar space following. The upgrade addresses a national hangar shortage issue and aligns with the county's long-term airport plan........read more about this story at mdjonline.com. ......................……... read more about this at mdjonline.com Story 2: training Cobb County commissioners hesitated to approve an additional $500,000 in funding for the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy, operated by the Cobb County Sheriff's Office. The academy faced decreased state funding and increased operational expenses. While the state typically provides financial support, this year's allocation is only $150,000. The academy's full staffing led to higher costs, straining the county's budget. To address this, the academy plans to seek increased revenue sources, including higher member fees from partner agencies. The board approved the funding 4-1 from the general fund, with a reimbursement requirement. Commissioner Keli Gambrill expressed concerns over the timing and suggested prior awareness from the sheriff's office. Story 3: housing A presentation to the Development Authority of Cobb County highlighted the escalating housing costs and potential actions for the county. Courtney Knight, a board member and leader of the affordable housing task force "Advance Cobb," discussed the issue. Traditionally focused on job incentives, the development authority might extend involvement to incentivize housing development. The presentation signifies a possible shift in the authority's role, addressing rising housing expenses in Cobb County. …..(pause) We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. The council members will meet with Superintendent Woods to discuss the impact of state policies on education and related matters. They will also represent their schools as ambassadors. Eligible applicants must attend a Georgia public high school, including charter and virtual schools. The council will meet four times during the school year, aiming to provide student perspectives for better policy decisions. Applications should be submitted by September 8 via the provided link. Selected students will be informed via email, and the results will be available on the gadoe.org website on September 26. STORY 5: CUofGA Credit Union of Georgia celebrated local schools, teachers, and the start of the 2023-2024 school year by sponsoring and participating in more than 30 Back to School events in Cobb and Cherokee counties. With a strong history of serving the education community in northwest Georgia, the credit union values its interactions with school leaders, teachers, counselors, and other staff members during this time. Founded by educators from Cobb County and Marietta City over 60 years ago, the credit union acknowledges the dedication of teachers and staff for their tireless efforts in benefiting the community and children. For more details, visit www.CUofGA.org. Story 6: supplies Residents in Marietta are taking advantage of back-to-school prices to collect school supplies, personal care items, and toys for packing in shoeboxes. These shoebox gifts will be delivered to children in need around the world through Operation Christmas Child, a project by Samaritan's Purse. These simple items are often essential for education. The initiative recalls the story of Justin Thomas in Southeast Asia, whose life was changed when he received a gift-filled shoebox containing school supplies. National Collection Week is set for Nov. 13-20. Donors can contribute $10 per shoebox gift online with tracking, or choose items for specific children's ages and genders. More information is available at samaritanspurse.org/occ. We'll be back in a moment Break: Drake- Ingles 6- Dayco Story 7: Drake Running back Kenyan Drake, a Hillgrove Alum, has swiftly transitioned to the Indianapolis Colts, going from signing to practice in just a day. Despite feeling rusty in his initial practice due to the sudden change, Drake is enthusiastic about contributing to the team. The Colts signed him as their top two running backs, Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss, are unavailable due to various reasons. Taylor's contract extension discussions and Moss' injury created an opportunity for Drake. Having played for several NFL teams over seven seasons, Drake is excited to add value to the Colts and showcase his capabilities. The Colts' preseason schedule begins with a game against the Buffalo Bills. Story 8: Tennis We're back with final thoughts after this Jasmine Robinson from North Cobb won the heptathlon title in the girls' 15-16 age group at the Junior Olympic Championships. Held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, the week-long event showcased Robinson's talents as she secured victory with 4,381 points across seven events. Representing The Heat Track Club, she excelled in the 200-meter dash, 800 run, and 100 hurdles, and set personal bests in the 400 and 400 hurdles. Despite facing challenges in long jump, Robinson's performance demonstrated her capabilities among her peers. The success serves as a benchmark for her ongoing high school track and field career, where she plans to defend her hurdles state championship as a sophomore at North Cobb. Story 9: Remy Charles Remy, a junior defensive lineman at Kennesaw State University, is striving to set an example both as an athlete and a student. He was honored with the Arthur Ashe Jr. Award for his excellence in academics and athletics, a recognition he values greatly due to his family's emphasis on education. Remy's dedication extends to the football field, where he's aiming to become a leader in the team's defense. Despite starting as a walk-on, Remy has shown determination and progress, contributing 10 tackles and a sack in his previous season. He envisions growth as a player and hopes for an undefeated season. With Kennesaw State's move to the Football Bowl Subdivision, Remy is confident in the team's ability to maintain its football identity. Coach Brian Bohannon's leadership and focus on hard work have greatly influenced Remy and the team's mentality. Back with final thoughts after this….. This episode is both an homage to Austin's unique & idiosyncratic running vibe & a call for listeners to explore their own local running haunts as power places. We try to set the stage for how the soul of a place - its flora & fauna, its land & waters, its roads & neighborhoods - can be tapped into for inspiration, gratitude & soulmaking. Wether we are traveling to another location for a change of pace or traveling for work or going epic with a running pilgrimage, perhaps the best way to get to know a place in a deep & meaningful way - & drink in its physical culture - is to run its roads & trails & footpaths. But it's not just a place's physical attributes...we can also learn from its weather, it's winds, its smells, its energy, its vibes. The experience of running at the ocean is vastly different from running along a river in the mountains. The nature of the experience is unique & tapping into this experience greatly enhances our run. We can tap into the a place's history of running - Boston & Eugene are not special because of their weather or landscape, it's because of the power of those who have raced on those roads & at Hayward Field. We don't think it is too much to say that one's relationship to reality is mediated by a sense of place. We each share a sampling of our favorite running magical haunts in Austin & are very curious about your locals. Send us an email with your favorites & we'll share them on an upcoming episode. You can reach us at sisson at telosrunning dot com to share your's. We hope you enjoy this magical mystery tour of Austin & recognize the power spots in your life. There have been many players come through Eugene that grew up as a fan of the Ducks. Memories as a kid at Autzen Stadium. The history of Hayward Field. The Magic of McArthur Court. But there hasn't been a book end to a career at Oregon like Ryan Walk. One of his first memories of the Ducks is the Holiday Bowl in 2000 against Texas. And that's where he'll finish his college career; this week at the Holiday Bowl against North Carolina…hoping to sail off into the sunset from San Deigo. This is the Mighty Oregon podcast. "These people are out on the track, by themselves, just with their own body and their own mind. It's really cool to watch. It's cool to watch humans push themselves like that. And I want everyone else to be as excited about it as I am." Michelle Wolf is a stand-up comic, an ultra runner, and a massive fan of track and field. So it makes perfect sense that she was at World Athletics Championships in Eugene, OR, last month! In this conversation, Michelle talks about how she ended up in Eugene, working with the Hayward Magic team on an Instagram series called "Loosen Up with Michelle Wolf." (Fun fact: She got the job, in part, after her appearance on the Ali on the Run Show last year!) She talks about interviewing athletes including Athing Mu, Ryan Crouser, Grant Fisher, and Marvin Bracy-Williams, and shares the highs and lows of her time at Hayward Field. "Listen, there are eight heats. Seven of them were all men. We are one-eighth of the media. We need to get that number up. But hell yeah to being the one-eighth." Jay Holder and I are back today, talking all things World Athletics Championships! We spent more than two weeks in Eugene, OR, working on the media experience team — him as the mixed zone supervisor, me as the press conference moderator — and in the third installment of our World Champs recaps, we're picking up where we left off last time. We talk about running the Media 800 at Hayward Field, share our favorite (and least favorite) moments from the 10-day competition period, and share the most challenging and unforgettable experiences along the way. Happy Tuesday everyone, This is Garrison Hardie with your CrossPolitic Daily News Brief for Tuesday, July 26th, 2022. I just like getting straight into the news, so let’s hop into our first story shall we? https://thepostmillennial.com/female-shooter-stopped-by-police-at-dallas-airport-before-anyone-else-was-injured?utm_campaign=64487 Woman opens fire at Dallas airport before police shoot, detain her A 37-year old woman opened fire at the Love Field Airport in Dallas, Texas on Monday at 10:59am and was immediately stopped by a police officer who returned fire and neutralized the female shooter. Police Chief Eddie Garcia said in a statement that the woman "gets dropped off, goes inside" and heads towards the Southwest ticketing counters. She went into a restroom where she changed her clothing, "put on some kind of hoodie," and then when she walked out " produced a handgun and began firing about this point." A police officer was already in the area and saw the woman, who Garcia said started shooting at the ceiling. The officer shot the suspect and hit her in "the lower extremities." "She's taken into custody and is currently in Parkland Hospital. No other individuals were injured in this event, other than the suspect". Fox News reported that police did originally respond to an active shooter situation but Garcia said this is "not an active situation." Dallas Police told local news that they were called to an "officer assist" at the airport and that crowds and travelers have been removed from the building. "We want to make sure our community knows that there are no other passengers, family members or people in the airport that are victims," Garcia concluded. The Federal Aviation Administration had a ground stop in place at the airport which primarily serves Southwest Airlines, its website states. https://bongino.com/white-house-tries-to-change-widely-used-definition-of-recession-ahead-of-economic-report White House Tries to Change Most Commonly Used Definition of "Recession" Ahead of Upcoming Economic Report Ahead of second quarter gross domestic product (GDP) numbers being released this Thursday, the Biden administration is looking to stray from how recessions are usually defined. The U.S. economy has already suffered negative GDP growth in the first quarter of the year, meaning that the economy is already in recession if Thursdays numbers show negative growth. Ahead of their release, the Biden Administration posted an article to the White House blog answering the question "What is a recession?" where they veer from the traditional definition; "While some maintain that two consecutive quarters of falling real GDP constitute a recession, that is neither the official definition nor the way economists evaluate the state of the business cycle." Naturally, many are interpreting this seemingly out-of-nowhere blog post as being to soften the blow of negative growth numbers this Thursday. It's also possible that the White House is well aware that there will immediately be articles proclaiming a recession on Thursday if growth is negative, and this enables the so-called "fact checkers" to say "not so fast" and limit the spread of that narrative. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about the blog post, and if its purpose was to hedge bad economic news. "Is the White House trying to change the common definition of a recession? Because next Thursday, the GDP numbers coming out are going to show that we’ve been in recession," the reporter asked. https://rumble.com/v1djxjp-is-the-white-house-trying-to-change-the-definition-of-a-recession.html - Play Video What a bunch of hogwash… Yes, they’re historic numbers, because our economy was HISTORICALLY shut down by our government… Folks, don’t let woke corporations deal with your payment processing. Gretchen Whitmer Just Slashed Care For Pregnant Women From Michigan’s Budget Last week, Michigan’s Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer vetoed funding for maternity homes, adoption tax credits, and other budget items that assist pregnant women. While post-Dobbs, Whitmer and her fellow Democrats seek to conceal the party’s pro-abortion agenda by pushing state courts to institute the extreme abortion regime they demand, in striking from the budget any spending that has a semblance of supporting the choice of life, Whitmer exposes her party’s abortion-first position. Democrats do not want the people to decide abortion policy, however, because they know the populace does not support their party’s extreme abortion-on-demand position, which is why in Kansas, abortion activists pretend a complete abortion ban is on the ballot. Likewise, in Michigan, rather than debate abortion policy and push for legislation to implement the public’s preferences, Whitmer has instead turned to the state Supreme Court to institute an extreme abortion regime through the Michigan constitution, while she and her fellow Democrats sidestep debates over limits on abortions. In fact, in announcing that she had asked the Michigan Supreme Court to expedite her lawsuit seeking a declaration of a state constitutional right to abortion, Whitmer used nearly identical language to that spoken from the abortion lobby in Kansas. “While politicians in other states rush to ban abortion, even in instances of rape or incest, Michigan must remain a place where a woman’s ability to make her own medical decisions with her trusted health care provider is respected,” Whitmer said in a press release. What Whitmer won’t tell the public, though, and what she and her fellow Democrats don’t want Michiganders to know, is that they want an abortion regime that permits abortion on demand for any reason until the moment of birth, paid for by taxpayers. And that is precisely what will be installed on the populace if the Michigan Supreme Court finds a right to abortion in the state constitution. Further, by using the Michigan Supreme Court to achieve this end, rather than the legislative process, Democrats can avoid the extremist label. But while Whitmer’s rhetoric and her use of the judicial system to achieve her ends may mask Democrats’ intent, her line-item vetoes in last week’s 2022-2023 budget make clear where the party stands on abortion, even if she prefers the courts provide the bottom line: It is not about choice or helping women; it is about abortion first. Whitmer’s stark strike-out from the budget of funds designed to help women choose life or to aid women who have chosen life says it all. The budget items she struck went much beyond assistance to pregnancy resource centers, which since Dobbs have strangely been in Democrats’ crosshairs. Whitmer actually struck $4 million allocated for maternity homes that provide “safe housing and comprehensive support services without charge for pregnant women who are without a safe home and in need.” Whitmer’s line-item vetoes likewise exposed the revolting truth that Democrats prefer abortion to adoption. Here, the Democrat governor struck $2 million in tax credits to adoptive parents and $10 million designed to provide factual information to pregnant women about adoption as an alternative to abortion, including the birth mother’s ability to establish a pre-birth plan. No amount of political posturing can overcome the reality seen in the black lines Whitmer used to cross out care for women and their children. And hide as they might behind activist judges, that budget tells the world Whitmer and her fellow Democrats don’t value women, or choice, or health care. They value abortion. https://www.foxnews.com/us/ghislaine-maxwell-moved-cushy-florida-prison-offers-yoga-pilates Ghislaine Maxwell moved to cushy Florida prison that offers yoga and Pilates Ghislaine Maxwell has been transferred to a cushy low-security federal prison in north Florida to serve out her 20-year sex trafficking sentence for procuring teen girls to be abused by her and late financier Jeffrey Epstein. The British socialite, 60, is now residing at the Tallahassee Federal Correctional Institution, which houses about 755 female inmates, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons database. Other notable prisoners who've called the sprawling brick complex home include Russian spy Maria Butina, terrorist Colleen LaRose a.k.a. Well, I just want us to all keep tabs on her whereabouts for when she inevitably committs suicide. https://www.breitbart.com/border/2022/07/24/1600-criminal-migrants-arrested-this-year-in-single-texas-border-sector/ 1,600 Previously Convicted Criminals Caught Crossing into Single Texas Border Sector This Year Del Rio Sector Border Patrol officials sounded the alarm after reporting the apprehension of more than 1,600 previously convicted criminal migrants who illegally entered the U.S. during the current fiscal year. The news comes after the arrest on back-to-back days of deported sex offenders. The chief reported his agents apprehended two more criminal aliens on back-to-back days in July. Brackettville Station agents arrested one of those, 61-year-old Jose Francisco Perdomo-Amador, a Honduran national, on July 12as he attempted to sneak past an interior checkpoint. During a records check, the agents discovered that a Dallas, Texas, court convicted the Honduran man in October 2017 for sexual assault. After being sentenced to a two-year prison term, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officers deported him back to Honduras in 2021. The following day, Carrizo Springs Station agents arrested a Guatemalan migrant who illegally crossed the border from Mexico into Texas with a group of four other migrants. During processing, agents conducted a background investigation and found that a court in Orange County, Florida, convicted the man, Henry Oroxco-Miranda, 42, for lewd and lascivious sexual battery upon the elderly/disabled. The court sentenced him to four years in state prison. ICE officers deported him in 2015. The sector accounted for 326,177 of the more than 1.6 million migrants apprehended along the U.S.-Mexico border this fiscal year. Build the wall!!! The 100-meter hurdler romped to victory in 12.12 seconds to beat Kendra Harrison's 2016 world record by 0.08 seconds at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon Sunday. Johnson took exception to the times recorded in the stadium, in which 12 athletes of 24 in the semi-finals recorded their best ever times. The 54-year-old, who claimed four Olympic golds and eight World Championship golds in a stellar track career, took to Twitter after seeing how many athletes looked shocked at their own times. But he was immediately hit with a backlash, and fumed in response: 'The level of dumbassery coming across my feed right now is truly staggering! 'As a commentator my job is to comment. In questioning the times of 28 athletes (not 1 athlete) by wondering if the timing system malfunctioned. 'I was attacked, accused of racism, and of questioning the talent of an athlete I respect and predicted to win. Unacceptable. I move on.' Initially, the American had written: 'I don't believe 100h (100m hurdles) times are correct. 'World record broken by .08! 12 PBs (personal bests) set. 5 National records set. And Cindy Sember quote after her PB/NR (national record) 'I thought I was running slow!' All athletes looked shocked [sic]. 'Heat 2 we were first shown winning time of 12.53. Few seconds later it shows 12.43. Rounding down by .01 is normal. .10 is not.' Amusan became world champion in an even faster time later in the day at Hayward Field but the time did not count toward records due to a hefty tailwind. But fans on social media were not happy with Johnson for mentioning Amusan's world record, with one accusing him of 'black racism'. The Twitter user, calling himself Slim Daddy, wrote: 'Michael Johnson are you naturally this dumb or do you have to put in effort? 'Why don't you channel your energy to recovering from your stroke you Black racist! One Twitter user claimed Johnson - who now commentates for the BBC - might have been seeking revenge after USA were stripped of the 4x100m Olympic title in 2000 and Nigeria took gold instead. 'The US 4x400m team that had Michael Johnson was stripped of the Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medal because Antonio Pettigrew confessed that he doped during the competition,' the Tweet read. 'The Nigerian team was eventually awarded the gold medal. Do you understand his bitterness now?' Folks, we’re in an age now, where any simple statements, analysis, or facts, will be met with emotional responses like this… I used to want to pursue a career as a sportscaster, but, not in it’s current state I don’t… I do however, look forward to the time where we Christians rise up and conquer it for Jesus, by His will. Sign up for our new weekly newsletter PEP TALK here. Go the the Satellite Sisters website here Go to the Satellite Sisters You Tube Channel here. Julie's Favorite Sports Movies: We're celebrating Satellite Sisters Summer Sports Spectacular this week. Here's Julie's list of favorite sports movies. A League of Their Own This is a Satellite Sister Solid Gold choice. This movie has everything: sisters, baseball, Geena Davis, Rosie O”Donnell, Madonna in center field, and Tom Hanks telling the players,” there's no crying in baseball”. Bend It Like Beckham A wonderful coming of age/cultural assimilation/girl power story about Jess Bijam who wants to play soccer like her idol, David Beckham but struggles to respect her traditional Indian family values. And, hello, Keira Knightley plays Jess's friend and David Beckham makes a cute cameo. Bull Durham It's hard to pick my favorite baseball movie but the kitchen scene with Susan Sarandon and Kevin Costner makes Bull Durham my top pick. The movie is about baseball in a very deep way but also has breezy romantic comedy. Rocky I loved the original Rocky. It's the ultimate underdog movie and has one of the best theme songs ever. Also, Talia Shire shines in the film. Hoop Dreams An excellent documentary following two young Chicago basketball prospects trying to use their athletic talents to get to a better life. The two stars face racism, poverty, injury and other roadblocks trying to make their dreams come true. The film left me in tears. Friday Night Lights Watch the original movie with clear eyes and a full heart. Before there was Kyle Chandler as Coach Eric Taylor, there was Billy Bob Thornton and Tim McGraw in a film that follows the coach and players of a high school football team in Odessa, Texas. As a transplant, I am beginning to appreciate what Friday night football means to Texas communities. The film is as much about Texas culture as it is about football. Bad News Bears Haven't we all been on a team for work or play where you feel like a group of misfits or outcasts? This is a movie about kids who never expect to care about competing or winning. Tatum O'Neal is the 11-year old star pitcher. Walter Matthau as an alcoholic ex-baseball pitcher turned coach is perfect. The ending involves a championship game and a big celebration for the Bears. Liz's sport movie faves include Robert Redford in Downhill Racer and Bill Murray in Caddyshack! Plus Without Limits, a great T&F movie with Billy Crudup as Steve Prefontaine and Donald Sutherland as Coach Bill Bowerman Lian names the great cycling flick Breaking Away and The Cutting Edge, a skating rom-com that does the sport proud. This is the 11th edition of Track Snacks – a mini-series taking you into the weekend where Chris Chavez and a CITIUS MAG staffer or friend share the story of an athlete who they're excited about right now that you can expect to see compete at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 (July 15–24, 2022). For this episode, we're joined by Katelyn Hutchison to discuss the dominance of Karsten Warholm. He is the two-time World 400m hurdles champion and Olympic champion from Norway. 2021 was the best season of his career as he twice broke the world record of 46.78 held by USA's Kevin Young since 1992. Warholm ran 46.70 to break it on July 1 and then ran one of the best races in history with a 45.94 in the final at the Tokyo Games. We discuss his road to greatness and how it all started with the multi-events at a young age in Norway. Track Snacks is presented by Hayward Magic. Everyone knows how much all of us in the CITIUS MAG family love track & field, and how much we enjoy sharing that love with you all. Well, we've got a few big love-sharing ideas in the works and it all takes place in Eugene, Oregon this summer. For this episode, we're joined by David Melly to discuss the brilliance of Faith Kipyegon. She is the two-time Olympic 1500m champion from Kenya. Last summer, she also ran 3:51.07 to lower her own national record and move in to the No. 4 slot on the all-time list. We go through her upbringing in Kenya, how she's been successful through the youth and junior global scene, her rise against Genzebe Dibaba and how she's been an amazingly positive figure and model example for mothers in the sport. "We want to prepare for the World Championships, run fast before the World Championships to get confidence and then try to win the World Championships." Happy Friday! This is the eighth edition of Track Snacks – a mini-series taking you into the weekend where Chris Chavez and a CITIUS MAG staffer or friend share the story of an athlete who they're excited about right now that you can expect to see compete at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 (July 15–24, 2022). For this episode, we're joined by Brazilian hurdle star Alison Dos Santos after he won the Prefontaine Classic men's 400m hurdle race in a world-leading time of 47.23. Last summer, he was part of one of the greatest races in track and field history – the Olympic 400m hurdle final. Norway's Karsten Warholm made history by becoming the first person to break 46 seconds with his victory (45.95). Rai Benjamin went 46.17 for the second-fastest time in history and the silver medal. Dos Santos rounded out the podium with a 46.72 for the bronze medal. We chatted more with him about how he got his start in track and field because he was competing on big stages as a teenager including winning a bronze medal at the 2018 World U20 Championships. He's earned gold medals at the South American Championships and the PanAmerican Games. His first senior global championship came in 2019 when he finished 7th at the World Championships in Doha – just a quarter of a second away from the bronze medal. I watched Dos Santos during the practice session at Hayward Field. He's six feet, seven inches tall and puts down tremendous force into the ground. While he's fierce and focused on the track, if you catch him anywhere off-the-track, he's always willing to stop and chat, crack some jokes, tell stories and even share a dance.
