Denver is home to many neighborhoods, cultures, and people. But lately, our host Bree Davies has been stuck on a certain kind of Denverite: the Denver Foo. Thanks to the @DenverFoos303 Instagram account, you can stay up-to-date on where local Edgars get their Polo shirts, what's really going down in LoDo after let-out, and who serves the best tacos on a paper plate in the city. Bree sat down with Benny, one of the guys behind the IG account, to talk about what makes a true Denver Foo, what this particular subculture says about Denver, and why this account is an appreciation — not an appropriation — of a certain style of Mile High human. Organization, patterns, intelligence, and tone are the vital foundational aspects of Chiropractic philosophy, science, and art. It's always a treat talking to David Fletcher about the nerve system and objective outcome assessments. He's the president and CEO of Chiropractic Leadership Alliance and a renowned chiropractor, who practiced in Toronto for many years. He and his associates had a thriving, cash-based family practice that served hundreds of patients weekly. For three decades, the Chiropractic Leadership Alliance has impacted thousands of practices and millions of patients. David has worked alongside Christopher Tent and Patrick Sentempo for decades now. They are a team of chiropractic experts dedicated to creating technologies for chiropractors to measure and communicate results with certainty. Chiropractic care is a partnership that demands great communication for amazing outcomes. The INSiGHT technologies bridge the gap between symptom care and ongoing care, allowing doctors and their patients to experience measurable growth. As the owner of CLA, David oversees the clinical, technological and practice development strategies while mapping a future vision for both CLA and the chiropractic profession. CLA's mission is that every chiropractic office has INSiGHT™ technology at the hub of their practice to create a standard of care for chiropractors to measure and communicate their results with certainty. We've seen the Chiropractic profession slowly trek further and further away from the foundational principles and values toward allopathy and medicine. A big why for David Fletcher and CLA is protecting the values of tech and giving people resources and tools, so they can move away from allopathy and toward Chiropractic. The culture through the past two years has actually reveled in illness behavior. Masks, vaccines, keeping six feet away from others became the norm. On the other hand, chiropractors are the voice of trust. Trust life, trust your body, your body is why you have the capacity to heal. You can close the gap between your body being at less than is optimal and being at its optimal expression. On this episode of The Mile High Podcast, you'll be looking deeper inside and gaining insight into the nerve system with David. Enjoy the interview and be sure to mark your calendar for Mile High 11, September 21st – 24th, 2023.

After our episode yesterday with Planterra CEO Darcey Macken, City Cast Denver's resident vegetarian, producer Paul Karolyi, and “flexitarian” host Bree Davies were itching to talk more about protein. Today on the show, Paul and Bree discuss their experiences with non-meat, plant-based, and animal-alternative options in Denver and tackle the big question: does the Mile High's reputation as a literal cow town still hold true? Or are we a city that can celebrate an array of culinary, veg-friendly options that go beyond the “meat and potatoes” stereotype of our past? Mile High Blumpkin Well this was bound to happen when you let Scoby name a show. You guys might want to watch this one on YouTube as around the 30 minute mark we had a very special Zoom meeting with an old friend of the show that you do not want to miss. As well as catching up with Mike we also dealt with a very angry airline customer who missed their connecting flight, a lady who cried because Carpel does not care about her damn kids, a man with an exceptionally low credit score, a man who made up stories about some kind of fantastical electric motor that clearly does not exist, an airline customer who did not want to wait another week to get home and one very special couple who simply could not figure out which way around they wanted their couch to go, despite all our best efforts. And a whole lot more too, including some more random Zoom encounters. To catch part 2 of our special Zoom prank be sure to subscribe on BuyMeACoffee to see what happens next! Thank you as always to our kind supporters, all the people that listened live on YouTube and everyone checking out our podcast. I love you very much and keep it locked to macronshow.com where Ron will be doing more supporter's shows at BuyMeACoffee

There are many narratives about Denver — we're a boom n' bust town, we're a weed town, we're, well (in the eyes of one rural Colorado politician), a “toilet bowl.” Earlier this week, Mayor Hancock shared his own, albeit bland, narrative of the Denver he's been in charge of for the last 11-plus years. Over at Westword, editor-in-chief Patty Calhoun and the crew pondered that same narrative and asked: has Denver lost its mojo? On the show today, host Bree Davies sits down with Patty and Westword staffer Conor McCormick-Cavanagh to discuss what makes Denver worth celebrating, and what we can do to put that pep back in our Mile High step. Check out Westword's latest cover story contemplating the mojo question from Patty, Conor, and a slew of other great writers. Listen to our episode from earlier this week where Paul and Bree discuss Mayor Hancock's final State of the City address. (Conor did a great summary of the speech for Westword, too!) This quote sums up the philosophy of today's guest on the Mile High Podcast: “Great things in business are never done by one person. They're done by a team of people.” - Steve Jobs You'd be hard-pressed to find a chiropractor who draws a line in the sand relative to the chiropractic principle as definitively as Michael Viscarelli. He opened up private practice in 2012 in Golden, Colorado, grew to 300 visits a week within a month, and increased to 1,200 visits a week within his first year. He built a seven-figure practice in one year. Dr. Michael and Tara Viscarelli, founders of ADIO Chiropractic, believe in contributing to the overall health and quality of life of each of their practice members. They believe that health is our number one asset and that nothing about the body is an accident. He's been restoring lives one adjustment at a time in the Golden, Colorado, area. He's been showing his practice members that they can stop “just coping” with life and start living it. Now, he wants to show YOU how you can make a profound impact on the lives of YOUR practice members. Michael co-founded Amped and supports as a member of the IFCO. He's donated to many chiropractic schools and has mentored nearly 1,000 offices that have opened across America. When there is a renaissance for the principle, you'll know that Michael Viscarelli is one of those who sparks it. You can find out more about Michael at ampedconnect.com. In this episode you'll hear: Why Michael chose the Chiropractic profession What fuels his energy Why serving the principle is his focus How he loves seeing docs go further, faster And MUCH more! Enjoy this content-rich episode with Dr. Michael. He's a big part of why Colorado is a hub to the Chiropractic principles. Be sure to visit the hub in September 2023 at Mile-High 11. Keep changing spines, and lives, and minds with Chiropractic!

The 2022 Dodge Power Brokers NHRA Mile High Nationals were a showcase of the best elements of NHRA drag racing. There were speed records set. There were upsets. There were holeshots, destroyed engines, and four champions across the Camping World Series spectrum. In this unique format episode of the NHRA Insider, host Brian Lohnes takes you through the inside stories of the race, gives context to some of the things you saw on the broadcast, and looks at the Denso Sonoma Nationals through the prism of Denver. As it is a short turnaround between races, the normal cast of characters and guests were all tied up so, in this monologue-style show, you get some juicy behind-the-scenes morsels from the weekend along with the hows and whys of victory and defeat. Relive Denver one last time with Lohnes and then set your sights on wine country with him as he does the same. From the thin air struggles of the mountain in Colorado to the abundance of sea level horsepower-making air in Sonoma, it's the most manic two races of the whole season.

Chiropractic leadership from a chiropractic assistant to chiropractor to successful associate to successful chiropractor to multi-doctor practice to multiple practices. Elise Rigney has been on a trajectory of growth that seems like it's just beginning to pick up steam or just coming out of the station. Dr. Elise Rigney is a home-grown Mile High heroine. She runs a tremendous, multi-doctor practice in Fort Collins, Colorado, impacting her community with excellence and quality care on a daily basis, based on ChiropracTIC principles. Dr. Elise's goal is to build up more confident, female leaders in the profession. She starts with that mission in her clinic. She has cultivated a team of six female DCs and they are changing lives at Impact Chiropractic. In 2020, Dr. Elise was voted BizWest's Top 40 Under 40. Her clinic also earned First Place in Noco Style's Best of FOCO. They also have held Top 10 Chiropractors in Colorado for 6 years running. After receiving an immense amount of outreach from Chiropractors looking to successfully build a team of doctors in their practice, Dr. Elise launched ChiroIntensive, a 4th Quarter Intensive for doctors who have already achieved financial success and are looking to release the burnout and build a team of doctors to care for their practice together. Dr. Elise is also a wife to a super-supportive husband, Rocky, and she is mama to three - Sloan (6), Stella (2), and Ford (10 months). Elise has joined the Mile High MC team. She's attended all 10 years of Mile High as an attendee, speaker, participant, and now MC. In this episode, you'll hear Elise discuss: Team Culture Leadership Training Scaling Associates And MUCH More! With Brad taking a mini-vacation in Denver, the guys got together for drinks over the weekend. Based on their picks, it's possible they are still drunk. Home run picks and a Lamar Jackson future get things started before diving into a relatively light MLB schedule. Among the baseball props on Brad's card are Cal Quantrill, Max Scherzer and Kris Bryant. Nate rewards the early listeners with a SGP on Game 1 between the Tigers and Royals along with two other parlays. Brad will be at the Rockies/Padres game tonight so he has plenty of action on the game at Coors Field.
On the second episode this week, Kip & Chris jump on the 1s & 2s to chat a little more about the state of the podcast & all things life. We talk about what it means for the podcast, what exactly Kip will be doing.. and all that jazz. Great way to fill in the gaps for those who have been out of the loop the last couple weeks. The Mile High Comics Jason Street MegaStore is a 45,000 square foot warehouse/store located in Denver, Colorado. Mile High claims to have over 10 million comics and 300,000 trade paperbacks in stock. To say this place is huge would be an understatement. I was in Denver for Fan Expo, so I took a little time away from the convention to see America's Largest Comics Dealer. This place should be on every nerd's bucket list. You really need to see and experience it at least once. The rows and rows of back issue comics reminds me of the last scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when they are putting the Ark of the Covenant into storage in that endless warehouse. 1. If you could re-live one experience during your time with the Falcons, would it be Super Bowl LI, the 2019 Pro Bowl…or something else? 2. Shortly after your memorable week at the 2019 Pro Bowl, you auditioned for Broncos and obviously made the team. What made you want to try out for DBC? 3. As both you and I know, Mile High is one of THE most electric game-day atmospheres in the NFL, and it should be even more so this season. But as we mentioned in the intro, you went to THE University of Alabama, which arguably has THE most electric game-day atmosphere in college football. Compare and contrast for us a game-day experience at Bryant-Denny Stadium to a game-day experience at Mile High 4. You also have a very inspiring story as to why you decided to go into nursing. Feel free to share some of that story with us 5. What has been your most memorable experience as a DBC thus far? 6. Where were you when you first heard the news that the Broncos were trading for him and how did you react? As of this year, Juneteenth is officially a state holiday in Colorado — but Denver's Black community has been recognizing and celebrating June 19th for decades. A staple celebration in Five Points since the 1960s, an official Juneteenth music festival launched in the community in 2012 and is going strong today. (For more on the history of the Mile High's Juneteenth history, check out our newsletter from earlier this week.) Today on the show, we share a story we aired last year with producer Xandra McMahon walking down Welton St. with Norman Harris, an organizer of the annual Juneteenth music festival. Norman digs into the past, present, and future of this celebration of Black life, culture, and community in Denver. Looking for even more great things to do this weekend? It's prime outdoor-dining season in Denver. But what, exactly, makes a good patio? Today on the show, host Bree Davies is joined by newsletter editor and foodie extraordinaire Peyton Garcia to discuss the role of ambiance and a killer view when it comes to judging the perfect patio scenario. Bree also mentioned James Beard Award winner Adrian Miller, who stopped by our show last summer to talk about his book, “Black Smoke: African-Americans and the United States of BBQ.” In today's City Cast Denver newsletter, Peyton digs into the history of the Denver Zoo (and stay tuned for a companion podcast episode about the zoo, coming soon!) It's no secret that Denver's housing market is nuts. But when we sit down to talk about the causes and solutions for our ongoing issues with housing, things tend to get heated, complicated, and divisive. So, we're looking to Denverites for their “big ideas” to help steer this and other conversations about our city's future. What can the Mile High do to make this place better for everyone? Today on the show, Host Bree Davies talks with fellow housing wonk Adam Estroff, member of YIMBY Denver and aspiring politician, about what he thinks we can do right now to put Denver on a better course toward more affordable — and attractive — housing. Check out Adam's campaign for city council, representing “Lucky” District 7. This is the Denver Post article about the city's landmarks that Adam mentioned in the episode.
