The United States Men's National Team could be retaining its coach and hosting South America's continental tournament, and we discuss all that on Episode 87 of the SSFC Podcast. USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter has reportedly begun preliminary talks with U.S. Soccer over a contract extension, and we discuss that history provides us evidence that a coach should not last beyond one World Cup cycle. No matter what you think of his performance in Qatar, the evidence is there that, at least for the USMNT, 2 cycle coaches just don't pan out. After the break, we get into the rumor that not only will the USMNT be in the 2024 Copa América, they will also host the tournament. We opine that getting into Copa América is going to be a great thing for the team to test itself against some of the strongest teams in the world. However, they should be focused on playing South America's tournament in South America, not asking the continent to move their tournament here. The SSFC Podcast will continue on as we have more World Cup to discuss. For any questions or topic suggestions, send them to SSFC Podcast at Gmail dot com. Learn more about your ad choices. The United States Men's National Team's run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup is over. A 3-1 loss to the Netherlands ends their tournament, and we recap everything on Episode 86 of the SSFC Podcast. The USMNT started out with some confidence, but the Oranje had their number all night on the counterattack, with incredible efficiency on the offensive end. The USMNT just couldn't match that, and even with some second half subs and a Haji Wright goal to give them some hope, it wasn't enough as Denzel Dumfries, Memphis Depay, Daley Blind, and the rest of the Dutch squad were too much for the young American team. After the break, the next World Cup cycle is around the corner, and it's an important one for the USMNT. With them co-hosting the 2026 World Cup, the time is now for U.S. Soccer to start preparing the nation to support the team and to help the team get ready for the rigors of high expectations. We look at what tournaments await the USMNT in the next cycle, and a big tournament that the team needs to try and enter. In the end, the idea should be for U.S. Soccer to start packing football stadiums full of fans to get them excited about this team and gain some momentum as we head towards 2026. The United States Men's National Soccer Team has sadly been knocked out of the World Cup after losing to the Netherlands.
This week the world lost an incredible force of good, the godmother of the modern documentary, Julia Reichert, whose groundbreaking work inspired countless filmmakers that followed — including 17-year-old Michael Moore in 1971 when he drove his parents' car to Ann Arbor to watch her first film, Growing Up Female, a subversive feminist documentary, in an auditorium on the University of Michigan campus. Years later, they would become friends, and today on Rumble, Michael pays tribute to Julia. Also, fresh off the United States Men's soccer team's loss in the 2022 World Cup, Michael shares his take on the world's game of football, and gives one final push to Rumble listeners to Get Out the Vote for Senator Ralph Warnock before the final midterm runoff election in Georgia this Tuesday. The United States Men's National Team is set to take on the Netherlands tomorrow in the World Cup Round of 16, and we preview everything on Episode 85 of the SSFC Podcast. In this episode, we analyze what to watch for tomorrow against the Dutch and we examine the World Cup from the fan experience perspective. The Round of 16 is set, so we go over the bracket quickly to see what the road to the World Cup trophy is for the teams remaining. The USMNT have some injury questions answered, namely the health of winger Christian Pulisic. Josh Sargent's injury is more of a question mark, and he's likely doubtful for tomorrow. We discuss from the USMNT's perspective what they need to do in order to get a victory and advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2002. That includes being assertive in creating the attack, keeping the Dutch forwards in front of them, and embracing the moment of being in the knockout stage, where anything can happen. After the break, we get into the discussion of what it was like being at the World Cup. From a fan perspective, there were some good things about being at the World Cup, some unique moments that fans could take advantage of while they were there. There have obviously been some incredible matches during the World Cup, and fans were able to experience many of them. However, there was also the bad and the ugly from this World Cup, from inconsistent security to detention for allowed items. We briefly discuss those bad and ugly things as well. We'll be back towards the end of the weekend to recap the Round of 16. Any questions or topic suggestions, send them to SSFC Podcast at Gmail dot com. Learn more about your ad choices. After a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday, we are back and ready to talk about some Orlando City news. We would also be happy to talk about some Orlando Pride news, but there hasn't been much of that. So, we've got some moves by the club to discuss this week. We start with the addition of midfielder Felipe Martins, who was most recently with Austin FC and has had success elsewhere in his MLS career — particularly with the New York Red Bulls. We opine on the move overall, where Martins fits in with the Lions, and how the midfield is shaping up. Speaking of the midfield, Orlando City re-signed captain Mauricio Pereyra to a new two-year contract and he's no longer occupying a Designated Player slot, so that's a bonus. Mauri has been a good player for the club and it'll be good to have him around for a couple more years and it'll be even better if he's got a top-notch new DP to feed the ball to in 2023 and 2024. There was also a departure, albeit an expected one and not one that affects the roster as it stood at the end of the season. Alexander Alvarado's loan to LDU de Quito is now permanent and the winger is no longer on Orlando City's books. We wish Alexander the best of luck in Ecuador. The World Cup group stage is wrapping up and the United States Men's National Team is moving on into the Round of 16! We discuss the young Yanks' World Cup performances so far. It's encouraging to see a young team doing well on the big stage and although we'd obviously love to see the USMNT go as far as possible, we're more excited about the prospect of these guys being in their prime when the event is hosted in North America in 2026. This week's mailbag asked us who our favorite USMNT player is and what Orlando City needs to do this off-season. If there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Programming Note: We are in our monthly off-season schedule for recording new episodes, but if the news cycle warrants it, we will of course put out new shows more frequently, as needed. In other words, we might be back in a week or a month. Stay safe and enjoy the show! Here's how No. 318 went down: 0:15 - Orlando City's off-season is in full swing and the team has been making moves. We talked about those that have been made and those still yet to come. 19:53 - The USMNT is through the group without having conceded from open play and without having tasted defeat. Those are good things, but this team still has another gear and we hope the Yanks can find it. 51:43 - Mailbagbox time! USMNT favorites and Orlando City's needs. Learn more about your ad choices. Bill Belichick has alway given the media a hard time, but why over the past couple years has he gotten even more defensive. It is time to jump on the Celtics bandwagon because they are dominating and Jayson Tatum is an MVP candidate. The United States Men's soccer team advances out of the group stage and do they have any chance in the round of 16.
Today on the Logan Blackman Show we celebrate the United States Men's National Team beating Iran 1-0 to advance to the knockout stage, only the second time the USMNT has won the final game of the group stage. We go over what the USMNT have done well so far this tournament and what they need to potentially improve on before their match-up with the Netherlands. With that, we provide a quick notes preview of the Dutch national team, going over their recent matches and discuss whether or not the United States could pull off the upset. We then go on to take another Sporcle quiz, this time we try to name all 23 players from the USMNT's 2010 World Cup squad, where the team finished top of their group before falling to Ghana in the knockout stage 2-1. We then discuss those super cool people who always want to make it known that they don't like soccer, while watching it, and go over some sports that are actually much more boring than soccer. Speaking of boring, we turn our attention to the Iowa football program, and discuss the possibility of them landing former Michigan starting quarterback Cade McNamara, and look at what Alex Padilla entering the transfer portal does for those odds. Finally, we discuss a recent tweet Lamar Jackson made that got weirdly labeled by ESPN as well as look at a top offensive line prospect who announced he's not declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft. Enjoy!
After an 11-week suspension, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson returns to replace Jacoby Brissett and take on his former team - the Houston Texans. Where does Minnesota Vikings' Justin Jefferson rank among the NFL's elite wide receivers like Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, Cooper Kupp, and Stefon Diggs? The United States Men's National Team will take on the Netherlands this Saturday following a 1-0 win over Iran on Tuesday. The Buffalo Bills could have Von Miller back for their week 14 matchup with the New York Jets. Karl-Anthony Towns will miss a few weeks for the Minnesota Timberwolves following a non-contact injury that is luckily just a calf strain. The New York Knicks, led by Julius Randle, dominated the Detroit Pistons. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have announced the hiring of Brent Key as their new head coach. The 2022 World Cup kicks off in just 3 days, and while it feels like we're all still getting ready for it in many aspects, we're here to give a quick breakdown of everything on Episode 83 of the Stars & Stripes FC Podcast. There are 32 teams that will compete for the World Cup trophy, including the United States Men's National Team. We first begin with a broad overview of the groups, breaking down who the favorites are to win the whole thing and some other contenders that could sneak their way to the trophy. We even discuss the other Concacaf teams (Mexico, Costa Rica, and Canada) and their tough chances to advance out of the group stage. After the break, we put the focus squarely on the USMNT, starting with listing the roster that will represent us at the World Cup. We break down who made the roster and some surprise inclusions and omissions. Then, we get into the group stage and even potential knockout stage opponents for the USMNT and determine what success could mean for the youngest team in the field of 32. Finally, to end, we discuss our coverage of the World Cup amidst all the controversy and just overall awful surrounding the tournament, from the way it was obtained to the thousands of lives lost building the stadiums that will host the games. There will be a lot to discuss in the SSFC community as the tournament begins, and we will be here to provide coverage of the USMNT and the rest of the World Cup, but we completely support all the ways people may choose to watch or not watch this tournament. If you have questions or topic suggestions, send them to SSFC Podcast at Gmail dot com. There will be more episodes coming as we go through the tournament! Today on the Logan Blackman Show, we go over our latest blog post where we try to predict which players Gregg Berhalter will call up to the United States Men's National Team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Go take an in-depth look at each portion and discuss why we feel he'll take them while also explaining why we may not agree with certain selections. After an hour of that we more to American football, more specifically, college football, and preview this weeks big game between Ohio State and Iowa. We go over why Iowa's offense may be too much for Ohio State's weak ass defense and why Spencer Petras will look like the next Peyton Manning after this much needed bye week. With that, we go over our Tom McAllister sponsored 'Picks of the Week,' where we more than likely get every pick wrong and head into next week with our preverbal tail between our legs. We then reveal our week seven quarterback prospect rankings and give each NFL game this weekend a bowl name to try and spice things up since the Bills are on a bye. Enjoy the show!
