In it, she tells the story of her humble beginnings in North Carolina, as the daughter of a teenage mother. She shares lessons for professional women and men about gender bias in the workplace. With just over two months to go until the November election, Democrats have been working on getting Donald Trump out of office by focusing on his character. In a new book “The Opportunity Agenda,” former Kansas City Mayor Sly James and real estate executive Winston Fisher say the party needs to look past the election and work on revamping its policy platform to help struggling Americans – especially amid a pandemic and an economic crisis. James joined Errol to discuss the importance of helping the middle class by investing in small businesses, increasing access to child care and improving education. And he talked about his experience leading Kansas City, Missouri, and weighed in on the influence of money in politics. Bretall left the corporate world in 2014 to start her own company providing community planning, project management and public relations for communities throughout Missouri. Arbor Grove engages in comprehensive, regional, and economic development strategic planning activities that necessitate different types of public outreach and participation. Bretall is a board member of the Linwood YMCA and a graduate of the Kansas City Chamber’s Centurions leadership program and was recently appointed by Kansas City Mayor Sly James to the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority (PIEA). The PIEA fosters commercial and industrial development in specifically designated redevelopment areas and is one of just a handful of women in such a position.
