In this episode of Bussin’ With The Boys, Taylor Lewan and Will Compton travel to Miami, Florida! Mario Cristobal sits down with The Boys to discuss last year’s wins, next year's expectations and where the Hurricanes have seen improvement in the offseason. In the intro, Will Compton and Taylor Lewan preview the NFL Draft, They call Delanie Walker “The QB Guru” to get his take on Ty Simpson’s draft stock. Afterward, The Boys give their Clean Takes (thank you, Kevin’s Natural Foods) and say Jacob Rodriguez is the STEAL of the 2026 NFL Draft. Mario Cristobal pulled up and gave a masterclass. We got into how Miami really operates with defensive and offensive meetings, what it means to conduct elite practices, and why recruits need to see it live. He told the full Penei Sewell recruiting story and broke down how he identifies guys with the right DNA, mindset over hype. He didn’t duck anything either, from NIL and the idea that ball is still ball, to bouncing back after tough losses and the mentality inside the program when it matters most. We also hit on building Miami the right way, locking down South Florida, finding coaches that actually fit, and why he feels like he owes the program. There are gems all over this one. From the Carson Beck transfer conversation to two freshman OL already making noise, plus his longtime relationship with his OL coach going back to high school. You get Taylor Lewan stories including some wild recruiting antics, a breakdown of Reuben Bain versus Lewan, and why the short arms narrative is nonsense. He also drops his one non negotiable, early is on time, talks Cuban coffee habits, hiring philosophy, and why you will never hear him say The U is back. Stay for the roast too, Coach held his own. Hiring can feel like a gamble that costs way more than money. One bad decision can drain energy, slow momentum, and make you question your judgment as a leader. If you have ever felt the sting of bringing the wrong person onto your team, this episode hits that nerve and reminds you that the pain is real but also fixable. In this episode, Omar opens up about learning the hard lessons of hiring the hard way and why he finally decided to stop guessing and start getting intentional. He talks about the gap between hires who quietly hold a business back and the ones who elevate everything they touch. Instead of surface level advice, he shares how his mindset around recruiting changed after real consequences, and why a thoughtful process matters more than charm, resumes, or rushing a decision. Ready to stop rolling the dice and start building a team you can trust? Learn how Omar thinks about making hires that actually stick. If you want to turn your next hire into your best one, the play button up top is waiting. Vote here to help The Intercept Briefing win its first Webby Award for best news and politics podcast.Show description: As talks to end the U.S.–Israel war on Iran break down and President Donald Trump demands a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, journalist Amy Goodman says that in times of war and conflicts, “What I care about is the answer, and I care that people in this country don't get health care at the same time that money goes to kill others in another country.”This week on The Intercept Briefing, Goodman speaks to host Akela Lacy about a new documentary called “Steal This Story, Please!” The documentary follows Goodman's life, journalism career, and the building of the independent news program “Democracy Now!” which just celebrated its 30th year. Recalling times when networks used their video footage, says Goodman, “I encourage that. Steal this story, please. It's a failure if it's an exclusive. We are covering these critical issues of the day, and we want to ensure that these stories get out because independent media is essential to the functioning of a democratic society.”Many journalists and news outlets don't ask tough questions to maintain what she calls the “access of evil — trading truth for access,” and to that, Goodman says, “Then it's not worth being there at all. It's our job to hold those in power to account.” She adds, “We can't have weapons manufacturers, who provide millions to networks to advertise determining our coverage of war. We can't have oil, gas, and coal companies determining our coverage of climate change, or banks and other financial institutions determining how we cover inequality. We need an independent media.”Listen to the full conversation of The Intercept Briefing on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you listen.Keep our investigations free and fearless at theintercept.com/join. Representative Eric Swalwell suspends his California governor campaign after multiple women accuse him of sexual misconduct, triggering a rapid collapse of support from top Democrats and staff resignations. Swalwell denies the allegations and calls them false, but the scandal reshapes the race to replace Gavin Newsom as party leaders distance themselves and investigations begin. The controversy now puts pressure on Democrats to contain the fallout and regroup quickly in an effort to stop a potential GOP sweep in California. From March 4, 2024: As the 2024 presidential election approaches, a vital question is whether the legal architecture governing the election is well crafted to prevent corruption and abuse. In their new book, “How to Steal a Presidential Election,” Lawrence Lessig and Matthew Seligman argue that despite the Electoral Count Reform Act of 2022, serious abuse of the presidential election rules remains a live possibility. Jack Goldsmith sat down with Lessig to learn why. They discussed the continuing possibility of vice presidential mischief, the complex role of faithless electors, strategic behavior related to recounts, and the threat of rogue governors. They also pondered whether any system of rules can regulate elections in the face of widespread bad faith by the actors involved. To receive ad-free podcasts, become a Lawfare Material Supporter at www.patreon.com/lawfare.
