Etsy just partnered with OpenAI — and this changes everything. I'll show you exactly how this integration works, how Etsy listings are now appearing directly in ChatGPT searches, and what you can do to make sure your products are the ones that show up.   We'll break down how ChatGPT product discovery is reshaping SEO, what “bottom of the funnel” really means for Etsy listings, and how to write titles, tags, and descriptions that ChatGPT actually understands. You'll see examples of real searches like “motivational shirt” vs. “XL gray lion shirt for the gym” — and how that difference determines who gets the sale.   Then I'll walk you through my proven Etsy ChatGPT SEO Guide — including optimized title and tag strategies, long-tail keyword examples, and a plug-and-play description template built to dominate AI-powered search.   By the end, you'll know how to: ✅ Get your Etsy listings shown directly in ChatGPT results ✅ Write bottom-of-funnel listings that convert buyers faster ✅ Structure your descriptions for AI visibility and real-world sales ✅ Use attributes and tags the right way for better exposure   #EtsySEO #ChatGPTforBusiness #EtsyTips #EcommerceMarketing #AISEO   Grow faster than 99% of Etsy shops

Will AI Steal Your Soul? Host Tina Yeager sits down with Dr. Drew Dickens, an expert in theological anthropology and founder of the Encountering Peace app and podcast. Together, they tackle the captivating and sometimes unnerving question: "Will AI Steal Your Soul?" In an age where technology and artificial intelligence are evolving rapidly, Tina and Dr. Dickens address Christian perspectives ranging from hopeful embrace to genuine fear—and everything in between. They unpack what truly distinguishes humanity from machines, examining our unique spiritual dimension, creativity, and self-awareness, while exploring the allure and dangers of allowing digital innovations to shape our faith journeys. Listen in as Dr. Dickens shares practical advice on using AI responsibly, warns against the spiritual "sloth" that can emerge from overreliance on technology, and offers tools and meditations to help ground listeners in their relationship with God. Whether you're curious, cautious, or overwhelmed by the digital tide, this episode is packed with wisdom, encouragement, and actionable insights to help you flourish in your spiritual life—even in a tech-driven world. Episode highlights: ✨ AI, Faith & Fear: Dr. Dickens explores why many Christians find themselves oscillating between embracing, fearing, and being overwhelmed by the rapid pace of AI's evolution. He encourages us to step back and examine technology objectively, rather than being led only by emotion or popular culture. ✨ What Makes Us Human? The discussion dives deep into the essential qualities that separate humans from machines—our God-given ability to create and our unique self-awareness. Dr. Dickens highlights the difference between true spiritual interaction and the imitation of it by artificial intelligence. ✨ The Spiritual Cost of Convenience: Are digital tools making us spiritually lazy? Research reveals we're losing some ability to think critically and, spiritually, we risk letting AI stand in for genuine reflection, prayer, and relationship with God. ✨ Using AI Wisely in Your Faith Walk: Both Tina and Dr. Dickens agree: technology itself isn't evil, but we must check ourselves. Are we using AI to support our faith journey—or to avoid the hard but rewarding work of carrying our cross each day? ✨ Practical Spiritual Habits: Intentionality is key. Dr. Dickens reminds us to carve out time for prayer, community, and “unplugged” connection—acts fundamental to flourishing in faith despite our increasingly busy, tech-filled lives. Resources Mentioned: Encountering Peace App & Podcast: Experience guided Christian meditations designed to help you reconnect with stillness and the Spirit. Free resources, daily devotionals, and support for your spiritual muscles await at encounteringpeace.com. New Podcast: AI and Spirituality: Stay updated on how spiritual practice intersects with the latest tech changes. Search “AI and Spirituality” wherever you get your podcasts! Final Thought: As Dr. Dickens shares, beware of “acedia”—the subtle spiritual laziness that can creep in when we hand off our deepest work to technology. Each day, choose to lean in and do the good, sometimes difficult, work of nurturing your soul. We're thrilled to accompany you on this journey of faith, growth, and transformation. Here's how I turn Pinterest into an Etsy sales engine—fast. I start with the big mindset shifts (Pinterest is a visual search engine, not social), then show how to get discovered with the right keywords, “savable” pins, and simple videos. I cover the Etsy mistakes that quietly kill reach (pinning straight from Etsy, weak links, seasonal timing), why claiming a domain boosts distribution, and what to post (process clips, styled shots, comparisons). I wrap with a practical cadence you can maintain, when to consider Tailwind, and how to prep for holiday spikes without burning out.   What you'll learn • Strategy that still works in 2025 (and what changed since 2020) • Pinterest vs. Etsy SEO (and how to pick keywords that rank) • “Saves-first” content that converts later • Exactly what to post: product shots, behind-the-scenes, quick demos, lifestyle, short video • Claiming your site, linking the right URL, naming boards to index faster • Seasonal timing (start in August for Q4), organic before ads, sustainable posting cadence   #Etsy #PinterestMarketing #EtsySEO #EcommerceTips #SmallBusiness #PinterestTips     Grow faster than 99% of Etsy shops

Episode 243 - Guns, Germans and Steal: The Pedi War of 1876

    History of South Africa podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 5, 2025 23:55

By 1876 the Sotho, Tswana, Venda, Pedi, the amaXhosa had all managed to secure for themselves a fairly easy access to firearms. The Griqualand Diamond fields ignited what could be called a small arms race on the veld. There was supposedly an arms embargo on blacks instituted by the British government two decades before, but this was frequently broken. In the Cape colony and Griqualand west diamond fields, the trade in firearms depended on two technicalities. Importers of these weapons had to deposit a bond which indicated to whom they were going to sell the guns. Because the colonies used these bonds or tariffs which is probably a more accurate description, as a source of revenue, the procedure was applied creatively. The second technicality was that Africans needed a magistrates permit to buy guns. Because the demand for labour was so extreme particularly in the diamond fields, this permit system was ignored by most of the miners. The winter of 1876 settled hard across the Transvaal. At night, the frost lay white along the banks of the Steelpoort River, the cattle breath rising like smoke in the early dawn. By mid-morning the sun was sharp, the air brittle, and the mountains to the east seemed to shimmer in their haze. Shimmering today are the minerals mined here, chrome, platinum, vanadium. These are the Leolo mountains, bastion of the Pedi under King Sekhukhune I. Across the valleys his people had built stone-walled settlements, ringed with thorn stockades, their cattle kraals protected by rifle pits dug into the hillsides. To the south, in Pretoria, President Thomas François Burgers prepared his republic for war. He was no soldier—trained instead in theology, prone to long speeches, dressed in sombre black. But he was determined to show that the Transvaal could still assert itself after years of debt, political squabbling, and military vascillation. On 16 May 1876, the Volksraad declared war on Sekhukhune. The long-simmering contest between the Pedi and the Boer republic was about to reach a climax. The Pedi kingdom was no stranger to conflict. Under Sekwati, Sekhukhune's father, they had fought off repeated attacks during the mid-nineteenth century. Their stone fortresses had turned back Boer commandos in the 1840s and 1850s. Sekwati had once been besieged in Thaba Mosega, surviving by ingenuity, patience, and the determination of his people. Just a few weeks later came the episode that etched itself into Pedi memory. Johannes Dinkwanyane, half-brother of Sekhukhune led his people at the settlement of Mafolofolo. They were Christians, linked to missionary networks, yet fiercely loyal to Pedi sovereignty. In mid-July, Swazi forces allied to the Boers descended on Mafolofolo. The defenders fought desperately. After two days of fighting, Johannes was gravely wounded on 13 July and died three days later.By late August the war had collapsed into stalemate. President Burgers' grand promise of quick victory had evaporated among the ridges of the Leolo mountains. The commando had withdrawn, Fort Krugerpos was thrown up in haste, and burghers grumbled about lost time and wasted cattle. The republic was broke, its men unwilling, its president mocked. It was into this void that Conrad von Schlickmann arrived.

And Rich is the host of the Innovations and Breakthroughs podcast and is the author of The Consumer Guide to Obtaining a Patent, published by the American Bar Association. So Rich, welcome to the podcast.Rich 00:00:46  Thanks so much, Josh. Thanks. Thanks for the warm introduction. And and really great to be on your podcast.Josh 00:00:51  Rich, I'm happy to say that we are a part of that number of 2000 plus, you know, patent successful patterns that you've been able to obtain and counting. Right.Rich 00:01:03  And counting.Josh 00:01:03  Yep. So thank you for your help and helping us get some of those design patterns that we've received for our business.Josh 00:01:10  So rich. Absolutely is the man.Rich 00:01:12  Absolutely. My pleasure. It's really exciting to see kind of what we're creating there in your company in terms of, asset value and protection, you know, against competitors. So, it's really cool. And someday we'll, we'll do a, you know, a Harvard business case study of some kind, to, you know, to take a look at what we've created here. I think it's pretty awesome.Josh 00:01:39  Well, I think that's the hope for both you and I that we're creating some significant value in the long run. Now, Rich, I shared this on previous podcast episodes as I shared some of the mistakes that I've made along my journey. One of those mistakes that I've made was not getting IP protection whatsoever for many of our products for four years, right? We literally went for in our business for four years before, you know, you and I fortunately met. And you're like, dude, you've got to start doing something here. And we had a great conversation.Josh 00:02:13  And now that we started getting copyrights issued for all of our products and then design design patents for some of our products, it's allowed us to actually protect more of our products, because prior to that, as many sellers know, as soon as you launch a product on Amazon, it's months, you know, sometimes as quick as a month later, sometimes 3 to 6 months later, you've got somebody copying your idea and being able to have something to protect yourself and even potentially get some of those other people knocked off or, you know, shut down their listings, I think is essential, especially as Amazon and e-commerce in general becomes more and more competitive. Would you agree with that, Rich?Rich 00:02:56  Yeah, absolutely I agree, and it's funny you mentioned that, like, you, you could put something up there for a month and then you'll find the competition and it's, it's almost as if. Well, I mean, it is as if there are tools that say, you know, copy this or copy that.Rich 00:03:10  There are analytics tools that, that, that point people in the direction of you when you're doing well. And so it's it's almost as if you're the software telling people, copy this guy, you know, and and so it really is, important to create as much of a moat as possible around, around what you're doing to prevent other people from, from copying you. and, you know, it's interesting to, like, in your case, like, a lot of your products are kind of content oriented, that copyrights are an option. for a lot of product ideas, copyrights are not really an option. They don't really provide, you know, covers don't provide protection for ideas. They provide protection for content type expression and then design patents, which you mentioned. Two are for the ornamental appearance for a product. The the look of a product. and I'd say the design patents are an issue for a lot are not an issue or an option for a lot of, sellers. Like if you have a product that has a unique look to it, then design patents are a good way to prevent other people from knocking you off by making a product that looks just like yours.Rich 00:04:24  So, you know, they're both effective tools, for protecting you on Amazon. So, yeah, I agree with all of that.

Send us a textWant to see the video? Watch hereWant a listing presentation that doesn't hinge on price haggling or a flashy brochure? We walk through a simple, high-trust system that gives every seller four clear choices on one net sheet—FSBO, a traditional listing, a Conventional CPO (pre-inspected) listing, and a Cash CPO pathway that trades some fees for speed, privacy, and certainty. Instead of pushing a tactic, we match strategy to life events, timelines, and risk tolerance, then let the clients choose. That shift—from selling to educating—wins the room.We bring the framework to life with a candid role-play: a divorcing couple who want fewer showings and predictable timelines. You'll hear the exact scripts that turn “cash-offer” hand-raisers into appointments, how to present FSBO honestly without fear, and why traditional listings stumble during inspection in a nervous market. Then we go deep on Conventional CPO: order a pre-inspection, fix only high-ROI items, disclose what's done and not done, and watch repair credits shrink while close rates jump. Finally, we outline the Cash CPO pathway—advance in 14–90 days, targeted updates, no showings—so sellers who value privacy can move without chaos. You'll leave with a practical playbook: where to generate the four-option net sheet in minutes, how to coordinate inspectors and vendors, and a simple weekly update cadence that keeps everyone aligned. Whether you're meeting seniors unlocking equity for care, expireds wary of more drama, or busy families who can't stage life around showings, this approach replaces pressure with predictability. #469 Ask David-- What if AI steals my job? I'm freaking out! Recently, I got a cool question from Megan Morrone, a technology and science editor at Axios. She asked about job anxiety due to fears of AI taking over our work. Initially, I declined to speculate, since I've never treated anxiety due to AI stealing someone's job. But the more I thought about it, I realized I had quite a few, perhaps humble, things to say, so here it is, with help from Matt and Rhonda. I'll include a link to her column at the end of these show notes. She wrote: Dear Dr. Burns, I'm a technology and science editor at Axios, working on a story about job anxiety and how it affects workers today. Would have time to chat with me about it? I'm hoping to schedule a brief phone or Zoom conversation before Tuesday. 15–20 minutes? We'd potentially discuss: Why job-related anxiety feels especially pervasive right now What strategies are most effective in managing it How CBT approaches can be applied in workplace or career contexts Please let me know if you have availability. Best, Megan Morrone She subsequently clarified her focus: Hi! I'm looking at anxiety around AI stealing your job. Would you be able to speak to that? Any chance you're Monday between 7:30AM-9:30AM Pacific or anytime after 12:30pm Pacific time? I'd only need 20-30 minutes and we can do it via phone or video call. David's response Hi Megan, I thought of one point I could make if it would further your cause. Every negative emotion has a healthy and an unhealthy version. For example, healthy fear—when you're facing a realistic danger—is not the same as a panic attack or a phobia or social anxiety, etc. Healthy fear, or healthy sadness, and so forth, or not emotional problems needing treatment, but realistic emotions telling us to take action. Sadly, with AI as the latest revolution, lots will change, some good, some bad. And sadly, many will lose their work due to being taken over by AI. Our son, for example, used to get high paid work anytime he wanted in user interface work for companies with prominent web presences. But now AI does all of that, apparently. So, he has to look for something entirely different, and he's tried a lot. With a wife and a baby, the financial issues are real. Now, if someone starts getting overwhelmed by feelings of anxiety, self-criticism, and inadequacy, and hopelessness, that IS something I can help with—big time, Bu the practical problems in finding new and different work will remain even after the person has regained self-esteem and optimism. So sometimes scrambling and being flexible, if possible, and getting coaching with an expert in jobs and career development, perhaps, on what might be practically possible, is called for, and not psychotherapy. I LOVE working with anxiety and can usually guide my patients to extremely rapid recovery, which is tremendously rewarding, for them and for me! But when the problem is real, my expertise does not match the needs. Hope this helps in some small way. Of course, sometimes a good shrink can help with sorting out options in the real world, but that generally requires a different type of specialized training. It is profoundly sad, and we have personally experienced it, that so many people are facing this tragic uncertainty and worry about making ends meet and finding themselves lost due to this overwhelming and unpredictable new revolution. For what it's worth, my book, when Panic Attacks, is a mass market paperback that has helped many anxiety sufferers and illustrate a great many methods. Also, our Feeling Great app is currently free of charge and causes dramatic reductions in anxiety, depression, and a host of other negative emotions in less than 90 minutes the first time people sit down and use it. It actually includes a highly trained AI designed to use the exact methods I use in my work, and our data suggests that it vastly outperforms most human therapists but will probably not replace them because some serious problems require human intervention. Best, david David responds to Megan a bit further Wonderful, I had one or two additional thoughts for you. People faced with layoffs due to AI (or any reason) face two challenges: the inner challenge and the outer challenge. The outer challenge involves finding, of course, some new way to work and support yourself and your family. The inner challenge has to do with your thoughts. One of the Self-Defeating Beliefs behind a great deal of depression and anxiety is the Achievement Addiction, which means measuring your self-worth based on your work, your achievements, and so forth. This goes back to the Calvinist work ethic, as you know, which is one of the cornerstones of western civilization: you ARE what you DO. So if you do good things, you are a good person; but if you are not doing anything productive or constructive, you are worthless. So it is super easy to fall into a pattern of self-critical (and distorted) negative thoughts when you lose your work, including “I'm worthless,” and “I'm letting my family down,” and “this is my fault,” or “it's unfair,” and endless varieties of these themes that can trigger immediate depression, anxiety, shame, inadequacy, hopelessness, anger, and more. So that is the inner battle. And that's where good psychotherapy CAN play a hugely important role, so you don't have to double your trouble and face a loss of your job plus the loss of your self-esteem and dignity at the same time. Thanks, and good luck with your article! Warmly, david We discussed a great deal more on the live podcast. Megan just emailed me again, and here's what she said: You're way ahead of me! The story hasn't been published yet. But you can plug our Axios AI+ newsletter https://www.axios.com/signup/ai-plus So, check it out! And thanks for listening today! Matt, Rhonda, and David

Email us: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.comWhat happens when the language of faith is weaponized for politics? In this episode of Faithful Politics, Will Wright and Pastor Josh Burtram speak with Karrie Gaspard Hogewood, a licensed social worker and PhD candidate at Tulane University, whose research explores the growing influence of Christian nationalism and spiritual warfare rhetoric in American politics.Karrie explains how spiritual warfare, once a personal practice of prayer and discipleship, has evolved into a collective political strategy rooted in the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) and neo-charismatic movements. She walks us through the shift from evangelism to domination, the rise of the Seven Mountain Mandate, and how imagery of good versus evil fuels political engagement—from “Jericho marches” to Stop the Steal rallies. We also discuss the connection between these movements and broader themes of dominion theology, Christian Reconstructionism, and charismatic expressions of faith.Listeners will learn how this rhetoric not only mobilizes believers to vote, protest, and organize, but also raises concerns about political violence and democratic stability. Drawing from her dissertation research, Karrie offers insight into how narratives about “principalities and powers,” demon mapping, and America's supposed covenant with God shape today's most polarizing debates.Guest BioKarrie Gaspard Hogewood is a licensed social worker and PhD candidate in sociology at Tulane University. Her research explores the ways religion, politics, and social movements intertwine, with a particular focus on spiritual warfare rhetoric and its role in shaping political engagement. Raised in Louisiana's Southern Baptist tradition, Karrie brings both personal experience and scholarly expertise to her work. Her dissertation examines how Christian nationalist groups construct “the enemy” and use spiritual warfare language to mobilize political action, from school board campaigns to national rallies. She has been featured in academic and public conversations about Christian nationalism, the rise of the New Apostolic Reformation, and the growing influence of Support the show
