Story: Quite some time ago an alien child instantiated our reality using some silly game they found on their parent's hand-me-down computer. As time went on they noticed the rainforests were being destroyed for a variety of reasons which would soon end the simulation. The child was quite attached to some of the people in the simulation and of course didn't want to have restart the simulation all over again from beginning. So, without their parent's permission, the child opted to buy the in-app purchase to heal the rainforests by turning back the rainforest clocks. Play now continues. Cover Art Notes: I manipulated a photo I took while walking to through the rainforest of Great Otway National Park on the way to Henderson Falls. Some of the trees are estimated to be over 200 years old. Credits: Story, Music, Cover Art by Mark Mosher Copyright Mark Mosher 2019 My artist site is here MarkMosherMusic.com

"Of Snow and Light" is episode 8 of the Sonic Encounters podcast season 2. It's an original soundscape featuring some warm classic synth sounds and pads. Photo is from a very unique skiing experience I had at Copper Mountain Colorado where I got to ski at night in a snow storm with only a headlamp and ambient light. Mark Mosher is a Synthesist, Composer, Performer, Founder of the Rocky Mountain Synthesizer Meetup, and hosts the Sonic Encounters Podcast. He has run his music production blog, Modulate This! (now merged with his MarkMosherMusic.com website) for about 15 years. Mark plays in a number of ensembles and has produced music and visuals for the stage, planetariums, and picture. Mark and I had an excellent conversation about his work as a synthesist, composer, and live performer. We discussed his musical workflows and use of visuals in his performances. Mark also deconstructs and takes us behind the creative process of his newest single "Disconnected." This episode is loaded with both practical and philosophical wisdom from Mark's diverse and extensive experience as an artist. One of the most interesting meetups I've ever attended was the Rocky Mountain Synth Meetup, led by Mark Mosher. Mark started this as an outgrowth of his own desire to meet people, but it has expanded into one of the most active synthesizer-based meetups in the world - and is now a must-visit for anyone that likes (as Mark states) "drinking with a synthesizer problem". From its humble beginnings in the basement of a Louisville CO restaurant to the huge launch party for the Ableton Push 2 release, the meetup has gone through a number of changes - some of which would hamstring a lesser meetup. Venue changes, personality riffs, people moving in and out of the area; the RMSM has continued to expand, and is healthier than ever. Mark has provided the following information for us to share: Meetup Summary The Rocky Mountain Synthesizer Meetup - founded in 2012 - is the home of 480+ Denver Front Range synth geeks who share their passion for synths, build their network, get inspired, get hands-on with gear, tell people about projects and find collaborators. It is synth technology agnostic and features broad variety of rotating presentation topics and experiences each meetup - most presentations given by members themselves. The after-meetup features a performance by a meetup member. Mark Mosher is one of the most active synth-fanatics in the Denver area. He creates music, leads a scene of performers, helps organize the Boulder Area Synth Meetup, does example and tutorial videos for hardware and software - and probably doesn't sleep much. This last week he put out a new album Fear Cannot Save Us, which is a continuation of the science fiction themes from his earlier albums Reboot and I Hear Your Signals, but is also one of the finest classic electronic music albums I've heard in a while. So I took the opportunity to quiz him on the making of the album, how he mixes sci-fi themes with electronic music, and how he produced such an excellent sounding product. If you want to hear the new album, you can check it out at http://www.FearCannotSaveUs.com. You can also learn more about Mark and his activities at http://www.MarkMosherMusic.com. Enjoy!
