Anyone who has listened long enough to the show knows my affinity for cottage industry, so it was a thrill to talk to Ron Klaiss about his model railroading journey that led to the launch of Mine Mount Models. Ron talks about his early days of model railroading, then talks about how his business was born from a love of structures and a desire to recreate. Later, Ron and I discuss a common side effect of hobbies within the hobby and how the layout can suffer for them.Check out Mine Mount Models and their fine craftsman kit offerings:https://minemountmodels.com/Follow Mine Mount Models on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/minemountmodelsSupport the podcast and get yourself signed up for free giveaways by becoming a member of the ATLP Operating Crew!patreon.com/AroundTheLayoutPodcastCheck out our website: www.aroundthelayout.comFollow us on Facebook: facebook.com/aroundthelayoutSend us an email: aroundthelayout@gmail.com

They say variety is the spice of life and we here at the ole' ModelersLife headquarters feel the same way. In this podcast we get an update from Ron Klaiss of Mine Mount Models and news of his latest kit, McQuirk Coal and included with this kit is a coal conveyer Ron designed and built. If you ask Ron nicely and tell him the crew at the AML Nation sent you, he might just sell the conveyor separately. After the subway chimes, we meet up with Keith Revell who fills us in on the progress of his HO scale Shay locomotive, gives us an update on how his company KR Models continues to grow and how to start a model railroad manufacturing company simply by Googling it. There's a whole lot of info in this podcast, so don't get started unless you have a pen and paper handy.

What's up, everybody? We're back after an unexpected week off due to some unforeseen circumstances... And we're happy to be back in front of our microphones and talking to this week's guest, Ron Klaiss!  Ron, from Mine Mount Models talked with us this week about his newest kit release (which he graciously provided to us in conjunction with the upcoming group-build) of Wiley's Good Times Tavern. This is an awesome kit that we can't wait to get our hands on and build with you guys. There is also a group build special that we talk about in the show!  The Group Build will begin on Monday, March 29th, so we have plenty of time to get all of our supplies in order and prepare for the fun 6 or so weeks straight of building! In addition to the new kit and group build, we get into our usual fun banter about model building techniques, crazy rants and typical humor that we enjoy the most. Thanks again to Ron for joining us this week and we really hope you all enjoyed this week's show! Find more of our episodes here: https://hoscalecustoms.com/
