Once Marc gets over the confusion around Dan Levy’s name (he pronounces it differently than the Dan Levy from Schitt’s Creek), he tries to figure out how Dan went from being a guy opening at comedy clubs to a creator and showrunner of his own network sitcom. Dan talks about getting into writing while doing road gigs as a comic, what it was like to write for friends like Whitney Cummings and John Mulaney, how it was different to be a hired joke writer on a show like The Goldbergs, and how it all prepared him for his own show, Indebted. Plus, Dan shares an amazing story of pitching a script to Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny DeVito and Eddie Murphy. This episode is sponsored by Zoro.com and Bombas.

In this show, Chris interviews, Marc Langelier, Development Director, M&H Advertising, and Owner, Orangetheory Fitness. Marc shares his career journey and reveals how people skills have helped him along the way. This show starts with Marc recalling his life as a student. Marc, a graduate of Carleton University was an excellent hockey player as well. He also studied in Boston for a brief period. What did Marc’s varied experiences teach him? Does school life prepare you for what lies ahead? Marc shares how sports inculcated in him crucial people skills that are helping him in business even today. Next, Marc shares how he stumbled upon the Student Works program. Why did the Student Works program appeal so much to Marc? And, what are some of the most important skills that he picked up here? In this segment, Marc reveals how the Student Works program helped him enhance his problem-solving skills through some real-world experiences. After Student Works, Marc ended up working at his dad’s advertising company, M& H. A 100-people strong firm founded nearly four decades back, M&H clocks annual revenues of more than $8 million today. Why was Marc initially hesitant about joining his dad’s established business? Once his dad convinced him to come on board, how did he learn the ropes of the business? In this segment of the show, we get a “peek” into the advertising business, and learn how managing a business requires patience and humility. Once Marc established himself at his dad’s firm, his girlfriend and him ventured into the fitness business with an Orangetheory franchise. Here, Marc reveals how a combination and experience and drive has helped them achieve success in a very short time. Compared to building a new business and brand from scratch, is the franchise model more advisable?  Towards the end, Marc has some excellent advice for new entrepreneurs. For folks who are in a hurry to attain their goals, Marc reminds you to slow down, and first learn the ropes of the business.  Marc stresses a great deal on the importance of cultivating good people skills and taking care of your employees. He also urges entrepreneurs to keep egos at bay when making strategic business decisions.  We wrap up this show by sharing how, in this day and age, a leader of tomorrow is the one who succeeds in getting people, and even countries together.  Tune in for some excellent nuggets! On January 4, 2013, Mrs. Royce Eckley received the phone call any parent dreads.  Her son, Marcus, was dead.  She was told her son had comitted suicide.  However, upon further investigation, all were lead to believe that this was not the case. Mrs. Eckley turned to all powers that be in Louisiana (where Marcus lived), and those calls were never returned.  We want to help spread Marcus' story and just maybe someone listening can help. We have had this case on our show previously, but today is Marcus' birthday & we have made this a day of action. Here are words from Mrs. Eckley regarding her son: "Marcus Anthony Merritt, Sr. was born May 25, 1975 and that was one of the happiest days of my life. He was my firstborn and only son. Growing up, he was a character, a real boy who enjoyed pretending he was a cowboy. I told him after he was grown that he truly turned into one because, he owned and loved riding his horses. When Marc was around, people tended to gravitate towards him, he made you feel at ease, laugh and genuinely welcome. He liked to cook out but, we knew if he was in charge of cooking IN, it was going to be hot dogs lol. Once Marc told me, " Momma, it couldn't have been easy for you being a woman to raise a man but, you did." That really made me feel good because, I did my best. He was truly loved by all who had the joy of knowing him and in turn we knew we were also loved. He was a wonderful Daddy who his kids adored. To be hugged by Marc was being hugged tightly and making you feel safe. I sure miss him and his hugs. I love him very, very much." Marc starts off the show remembering their lovely cat, Pokey, and the five years that have passed since he, well, passed, and then wishes their father a very happy birthday. After that, Marc dives deep into the world of anime, first talking about their favorite anime of 2016 (so far), then their thoughts about a handful of Studio Ghibli dubs, and then a smattering of new spring anime--including the Phoenix Wright anime and the much-anticipated adaptation of My Hero Academia. Once Marc gets all the anime out of their system, they move onto games, including Miitomo (not a game), Lords of the Fallen, and Pneuma: Breath of Life. Cheers and enjoy the show.
