The National Federation of the Blind, in the United States, campaigns for better access to services on behalf of blind and partially sighted people. November 6th will see Americans go to the polls to vote in the Mid-Term Elections and that includes visually impaired voters. There is a new drive to get more blind and partially sighted people into running. To support this, there are a growing number of Guide Runners across the UK ready to help individuals take to the streets and it can all be done over a new accessible website. The UK charity Guide Dogs has teamed up with global tech giant Microsoft to develop and release a new app for blind and partially sighted people. Soundscape is a new slant on personal GPS and uses 3D sound to build an audio picture of your surroundings as you walk, or travel in a vehicle.
