The panel return on this edition to discuss Tottenham Hotspur closing in on the signings of Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, with both deals now agreed in principle as Roberto De Zerbi's rebuild gathers pace in North London. We also reflect on the news that Tottenham Hotspur have ‘pulled out' of the race to sign Joao Palhinha. Spurs' buy option expires on Monday, and Sporting CP are moving ahead with the deal. Talks with Bayern Munich are expected to follow. Palhinha impressed on loan at Spurs and has expressed a desire to stay, with the London club holding a €30 million purchase option. Sporting want to bring the 30-year-old back to Lisbon, where he began his career. The midfielder is willing to take a significant pay cut to rejoin his boyhood club, and a broad understanding with the player is said to be in place. A new loan move for Luka Vuskovic to Hamburger SV is apparently not a current option avaliable. The Croatian has two options: Long-term contract extension with high salary. A move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Talks are ongoing over the player's future. Luka Vuskovic has revealed his Tottenham future will not be decided until after the World Cup. We discuss what the best next step is for the youngster. Tottenham Hotspur are expected to strengthen their attack this summer, and a new report suggests that Marcus Rashford could become an option. Spurs have reportedly shown interest in signing Marcus Rashford this summer after a 28-goal contribution season with Barcelona, during which he scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists. We debate whether the Club could entice him into coming to the club and whether Spurs can get the best out of him. Finally we close on the news that Spurs have launched an internal review into last season. An internal review has been ongoing since the appointment of Dan Lewindon as Performance Director from Manchester City. This comes after he found significant challenges within Spurs. He joined the Club one day before Thomas Frank was sacked. We reflect on whether the Club will take the learnings from last season and put them into action in both the upcoming window in addition to decisions made both off/on the pitch. This week in Segunda we have seen massive bans at Andorra including for owner Pique, the disgraceful vandalism of the homes of some Real Zaragoza players, the announcement of the departure of Sporting coach Borja Jimenez which has set the managerial merrygoround wheels in motion. Up the top, Racing have one foot in Primera and it is neck and neck between Depor and Almeria for the second automatic promotion place. Sarah is embracing her Spanish language learning, but she can only speak it with a deep, Buzz Lightyear voice, and we love it. Susie watched the Dark Wizard HBO docuseries about extreme sporting pioneer, free solo climber, and base-jumping enthusiast, Dean Potter, and we discuss why this is a hate-watch for us, how men will do anything instead of going to therapy, and why Susie hates extreme sports bros with all her heart. We hear about a study that determined that urban birds are more afraid of women than men, and we want to know why. There was a crossword crisis recently, and the puzzle nerds were losing their minds about it. We debate whether there are any MTV Challenge cast members who are better at getting around the rules of the show than we are. And we hear about the boy band documentary that chronicles the experience of the young men who are thrust into pop stardom and sign exploitative contracts, and why it reminds us of reality tv fame.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:For 50% off your order, head to https://www.dailylook.com and use code BRAINCANDY Get 60% off your cat's first order, plus free shipping and free treats for life, when you go to https://www.smalls.com/BRAINCANDYThis episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. We decided it was too depressing to discuss the 2nd half capitulation in Chicago a week and a half ago and took a week off hoping for something more positive to discuss regarding the on-field performance of this team and boy are we glad we did. Sporting was a much more competitive side in a 1-1 draw at home vs. Seattle, even if a bit conservative with its defensive positioning. There were some other changes from match to match(and more we'd probably like to see going forward) that we will discuss, as well as what we saw in MLS the past two weekends we liked before talking about the Current getting back to winning ways and previewing this weekend's trip to Portland.Music by The Spin Wires

In this episode, I am so excited to talk with Sporting Jacksonville and USWNT U-20 forward Ashlyn Puerta, who is currently leading the Gainbridge Super League golden boot race.A rising force in the professional game, Ashlyn's made an immediate impact in her first season at Sporting Jacksonville, quickly establishing herself as one of the most dangerous attacking players in the Gainbridge Super League. From a standout youth career that included top academy performances, early national team involvement, and exposure to elite training environments, her path to the professional level has been defined by constant challenges and adaptation at every stage.Ashlyn reflects on her earliest soccer memories, the moments that shaped her development, and how she built the mindset needed to transition from youth standout to professional goalscorer. Ashlyn also breaks down her decision to forgo the traditional college route in favor of joining an expansion project, walking through what ultimately made Sporting Jacksonville the right fit at a pivotal moment in her career. Now a key figure in the club's early success, she discusses her adjustment to the professional game, playing in front of growing home crowds, and what it means to be part of a team building its identity from the ground up.The conversation closes with reflections on her goals for the future, both short-term and long-term, as she continues her breakout season and looks ahead to what's next in her career.Thank you for listening! In this episode I'm joined by Tim Stillman to look back on Wednesday's 0-0 draw at home to Sporting, a result which sees us qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League for the second year in a row. We chat about some of things Arsenal did and didn't do in the wake of Saturday's defeat to Bournemouth, with focus first on a forward line that has some fundamental limitations that hamper our ability to play the kind of attacking football we'd like. As well as that, we discuss the way we controlled the game in the second half, leaning on the areas of the pitch where we do have top class talent, and how we restricted the opposition to just one shot on target all night. There are some interesting comments from Declan Rice about how the players feel about progression in this competition, parallels with some other European campaigns, and spotlight on how we're the only English team left in the Champions League after everyone else, and giants like Real Madrid and Barcelona fell by the wayside to set up a fascinating clash with Atletico Madrid in the next round.EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/arseblog Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee! If you can donate the April fundraiser, the link is here - https://www.justgiving.com/page/avp2026Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode we look back at Saturday disappointing and disheartening defeat to Bournemouth. We chat about the team selection with some key players missing but with some ineffective combinations in key areas. There's analysis of the goals we conceded, the one we scored, and some decent chances we had to at least grab a point late on. Beyond that, we discuss the way the team is playing now, the counter-intuitive nature of asking our goalkeeper to play with more risk than players higher up the pitch, and whether the pressure to win the league this season played a part in the performance (or lack of). In part two we answer listener questions about Martin Zubimendi and how Mikel Arteta might be able to change the dynamic of the team, injury information, what we can expect against Sporting in midweek and how that might be beneficial, the idea that pre-game hype might not be useful, our feelings on how the rest of the season plays out, and lots more.EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/arseblog Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee! If you can donate the April fundraiser, the link is here - https://www.justgiving.com/page/avp2026Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode I'm joined first by Andrew Allen in my Lisbon hotel room to chat about Arsenal's 1-0 win over Sporting on Tuesday evening. We discuss the team line-up, a first half that wasn't exactly replete with chances but which saw the Gunners rediscover some of their identity after a shaky start and a big moment from David Raya. There were second half changes, more great goalkeeping, and as the game looked like it was headed for a draw, a fantastic goal cooked up by Gabriel Martinelli and finished by Kai Havertz won us the game. We also talk about Raya as a potential player of the season, the Martinelli in Europe v Martinelli in the Premier League, how the team needed that big moment after recent defeats, the prospect of another Champions League semi-final, the match-day experience in the stands, and more.EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/arseblog Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee! If you can donate the April fundraiser, the link is here - https://www.justgiving.com/page/avp2026 Hosted on Acast.
