If you drove home for Christmas with your kids, you probably heard, “Are we there yet?” And if their phones died, you no doubt heard an anguished, “How much further?” That might give you some idea how Paul must have felt when the Thessalonians started quizzing him about the second coming.

Sunday, June 11, 2023 – Today's message is "The Imminent Rapture of the Church." For many people, a discussion about the Rapture of the Church is debatable, fearful, and somewhat nebulous. However, that's not what God would have at all. He gives good instruction and fair warnings in His Word that we can be educated and comforted. Will we know the Day and hour of Jesus' return to take the Church away? No, but we can know the season and should be living with anticipation of meeting Jesus in the air. That's what this message is about. We can be completely confident in our relationship with Jesus; that will take all fear away and replace it with a joyful excitement of what that Day and the thereafter will be like as we see Jesus face-to-face. Are you interested in knowing more? Come worship and study along with us.

We must go deeper in our faith with Christ. We must be aware of the deeper story, the deeper life. Once we can realize what is really going on, we can begin to speak peace and hope.

How do we live when we know something is about to happen? We do our best to be prepared for emergencies. We tidy up our houses when we have guests coming over. We prepare by studying when we have a test coming up. When we know what's coming, we adjust the way we live to prepare for that moment. Paul reminds us that Jesus is coming soon. So how do you and I live in anticipation for this moment? Join us as we find answers to this question in our series in Paul's letters to the Thessalonian church.

The second coming of Christ has often been presented in such a way that it is a source of fear for Christians. Far from being afraid, Christians should eagerly await the return of Jesus because our destiny is inextricably linked to that glorious event. Join us as we discover what it means for us to be called children of the day!
Today, in our ongoing series about the letters the apostle Paul wrote to the believers at Thessalonica, Pastor Marc Sharp continues the discussion about the second coming of Jesus. The Thessalonians naturally had questions about the return of Jesus. They wanted dates and a timeline. What should they expect, and when should they expect it? The Thessalonians were not unlike many Christians today. Books predicting the details and chronology of the end are often best-sellers . The disciples asked for the same details from Jesus. But Jesus didn’t give them the specific answers they asked for. Why? Why would he not be very specific about such a major event as his return?

We believe in some sense our faith can exist apart from the community created in its name, the church. While I do not want to deny that we can come to and even grow in faith apart from a congregational setting, I still want to offer three interrelated and ascending answers to the question: “Why join a church?” So here goes. Rev. Larry Hayward preaches on 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11.

In this study we begin looking at the events of the Tribulation. We begin our study in I Thessalonians 4 and 5. In this passage Paul is encouraging the believers about things to come and that they will be delivered from the terrible time of wrath to come.

In the 4th message in this series, Pastor Houser speaks on the importance of living your life as if the rapture were to happen today. Understand that it is easy to become complacent, that the world and the enemy can easily deceive. Always be vigilant for this and understand what your enemy temps you with. A copy of the sermon outline is attached for your convenience.

Jesus is coming back and we need to stay alert because we don't know the day nor the hour! Will you be ready? We as children of the Light have the responsibility to live like Jesus is coming back. We need to encourage one another and build each other up so that not only are we prepared for His return but others can be prepared for when He comes back!

Dear Brothers and Sisters, I have attached tomorrow’s sermon on the first verses of I Thessalonians 5. I entitled it, “The Christian’s Destiny,” which is fine as long as you know that by “Christian,” I really am talking about you. Not some great saint of old, but you, today! May the Lord help us take this to heart and thereby shape our hearts to live with hope, faith, and love that is worthy of the hope we truly have! Sincerely, Pastor Young

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 How are Christians to live in light of Christ’s return?
Living In Light of Christ’s Return (Part 1) 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
Hear the good news…Christ Has Come! The prophet Isaiah says it this way... The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (ESV) So what is this good news? Christ came TO US and FOR US! He came to rescue us from eternal darkness and deliver us into His glorious light! That is why we can sing "Joy to the World!” Merry Christmas!
We do not know the date and time of Christ. Will we be asleep when Christ Comes? are we prepared to wait for Christ.

Paul's letters to the Thessalonians are probably the first letters he ever wrote. The return of Christ wasn't a doctrine to be dissected and debated, but was a central truth for Paul. It's also one he treats pastorally, using it to address real concerns the church had then...and still has now.

1 Thessalonians 5:2 states "the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night". If believers are to share in that glorious day, we have to do everything in our power to stay focused, vigilant and ready. In this message, Dr. Brian Kinlaw reviews 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 and points out three important things for believers: our identity, our duty and our destiny. The question then becomes….are you ready?
The promises of Jesus are clear...Whether we are ready or not, He is coming again.
Pastor Peregoy reflects on the "art" of waiting and details five different ways that people wait: push, doubt, sleep, play and encourage.

Jesus will return. Are you ready? The premise of the doctrine on the return of Christ is to remind us all to be ready for His coming...
The Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. Children of God must walk in the light and encourage one another with the hope of Jesus' return.
