Paul has many pleasant memories of the days he spent with the infant Thessalonian church. Their faith, hope, love, and perseverance in the face of persecution are exemplary. Paul's labors as a spiritual parent to the fledging church have been richly rewarded, and his affection is visible in every line of his letter. Jesus will return one day and those who trust Him will live in light of that reality.

Paul was telling the Thessalonian church that we need to be spiritually awake, for we are children of the day. We are not of the darkness or night. We are clothed with the breastplate of faith and love and our helmet is the hope of salvation. While we face the trials of life, we know that they are temporary, and our eternal reward is much greater than we can fathom. We are to encourage one another with the hope that is before us and STAY AWAKE!

If you drove home for Christmas with your kids, you probably heard, “Are we there yet?” And if their phones died, you no doubt heard an anguished, “How much further?” That might give you some idea how Paul must have felt when the Thessalonians started quizzing him about the second coming.

Sunday, June 11, 2023 – Today's message is "The Imminent Rapture of the Church." For many people, a discussion about the Rapture of the Church is debatable, fearful, and somewhat nebulous. However, that's not what God would have at all. He gives good instruction and fair warnings in His Word that we can be educated and comforted. Will we know the Day and hour of Jesus' return to take the Church away? No, but we can know the season and should be living with anticipation of meeting Jesus in the air. That's what this message is about. We can be completely confident in our relationship with Jesus; that will take all fear away and replace it with a joyful excitement of what that Day and the thereafter will be like as we see Jesus face-to-face. Are you interested in knowing more? Come worship and study along with us.

We must go deeper in our faith with Christ. We must be aware of the deeper story, the deeper life. Once we can realize what is really going on, we can begin to speak peace and hope.

How do we live when we know something is about to happen? We do our best to be prepared for emergencies. We tidy up our houses when we have guests coming over. We prepare by studying when we have a test coming up. When we know what's coming, we adjust the way we live to prepare for that moment. Paul reminds us that Jesus is coming soon. So how do you and I live in anticipation for this moment? Join us as we find answers to this question in our series in Paul's letters to the Thessalonian church.

The second coming of Christ has often been presented in such a way that it is a source of fear for Christians. Far from being afraid, Christians should eagerly await the return of Jesus because our destiny is inextricably linked to that glorious event. Join us as we discover what it means for us to be called children of the day!
Today, in our ongoing series about the letters the apostle Paul wrote to the believers at Thessalonica, Pastor Marc Sharp continues the discussion about the second coming of Jesus. The Thessalonians naturally had questions about the return of Jesus. They wanted dates and a timeline. What should they expect, and when should they expect it? The Thessalonians were not unlike many Christians today. Books predicting the details and chronology of the end are often best-sellers . The disciples asked for the same details from Jesus. But Jesus didn’t give them the specific answers they asked for. Why? Why would he not be very specific about such a major event as his return?
