Climate alarmists have been predicting the end of the world for decades—and getting it entirely wrong. Pastor Jim Osman opens this exposition of 2 Peter 3:7 and 10 by showing why: they begin with the wrong assumptions. God has already revealed how this world ends, and it has nothing to do with carbon footprints or melting ice caps.Peter's answer to the false teachers who denied the return of Christ rests on three characteristics of the coming Day of the Lord. From movies to media preachers, "The end is near!" is a common theme. But what does God have to say about 'The End?' Malachi describes a coming day of radical contrasts: consuming fire, yet for the righteous, a day of joy and freedom. This day brings destruction for the wicked, but it brings dancing for those who fear the Lord. The really important question each of us must answer is this: which group are we in? In Christ, we can know the answer, and we can look forward to 'the coming day' with great anticipation.

Peter warned the church that mockers would come. Pastor Jim Osman works through 2 Peter 3:1-4, examining the identity, motive, and arguments of those who deny the return of Christ—and why their denial is never as innocent as it appears.Two thousand years have passed since the promise was made. That passage of time is precisely what the mockers weaponize. Their question—"Where is the promise of His coming?"—is not a sincere inquiry. It is a denial dressed up as a question, a pattern Osman traces through Jeremiah, the Psalms, and Malachi. When mockers ask "where is," they are not looking for an answer. They are dismissing the promise altogether.Peter exposes their motive as well as their argument. These men follow after their own lusts, and the connection between their sensuality and their denial of Christ's return is deliberate. Deny the coming of Christ, and you deny the coming judgment. Deny the coming judgment, and there is nothing left to restrain the flesh. Osman draws out three strands of this connection: the removal of accountability, the loss of a purifying hope, and the implicit denial of bodily resurrection.The mockers also argue from uniformitarianism—the assumption that because nothing has changed, nothing will. Osman dismantles this philosophy, shows its influence on secular science, and points to the flood as evidence that God has already intervened catastrophically once before.False teachers are not a surprise. This message explains Jesus' teaching in Matthew 24 about the End Times, given privately to His disciples on the Mount of Olives. Jesus reveals that prophecy is meant to be understood and outlines three phases: immediate events, the Tribulation, and ultimately His Second Coming. Scripture shows that after unparalleled global distress, Jesus will return visibly and powerfully, fulfilling numerous Old Testament prophecies. His return will bring judgment on a world hardened in rebellion, while His words remain infallible, inerrant, complete, and authoritative. While the Church will be removed before the Tribulation, the generation that endures those final years will witness these signs unfold. Jesus emphasizes that although no one knows the exact day or hour, believers must stay watchful, faithful, wise, and ready—not focused on the Antichrist but on Christ Himself. The call is to live prepared, because His return is certain and life is uncertain.

Section 133 received Nov 3, 1831 in Hiram Ohio Historical background - By November, 1831, Joseph had compiled many of the Lord's revelations which would eventually become a Book of Commandments, later known as the Doctrine and Covenants. On November 1, 1831, the Lord revealed a “Proclamation” to the world which became the preface to the Book of Commandments, or section 1. Two days later, on November 3, 1831, the Lord revealed an appendix to the Book of Commandments, or section 133 which is a prophetic declaration of what must occur prior to the second coming of Christ.   Recap: Christ will appear suddenly in his temple. The saints must flee from Babylon and gather in Zion. Christ will stand on Mount Zion with his 144,000. The continents will become one land and the lost ten tribes will return. The gospel will be preached worldwide. Christ will appear in red apparel. The righteous shall be resurrected and the New Jerusalem will be established while the wicked will be destroyed by fire. Section 134 declared and adopted Aug 17, 1835 in Kirtland Ohio Historical Background – On August 17, 1835, the church held a conference in Kirtland, Ohio to accept the Book of Commandments as scriptural revelations from God. Also, due to the political turmoil and abuses of power, especially the disregarding of constitutional rights and privileges that should have been afforded the saints, it was felt necessary that a statement of beliefs in Governmental laws should be included in the Book of Commandments. Joseph Smith was in Canada at this time and was not present at the conference. Therefore, Oliver Cowdery wrote section 134 outlining the role and purposes of earthly government. This was presented to the saints and it was accepted to be included in the Book of Commandments but as a declaration and not a revelation. When Joseph returned and reviewed the document, he allowed it to stand as is because the saints had already voted their approval during the conference. Recap: Governments are instituted by God for the benefits of mankind and should preserve freedom, protect rights, life and property. Laws should be administered fairly and equally. The people are bound to obedience to the laws of the land. Punishments should be made according to the nature of the crime.
