The Holy Spirit In The Church
Baptism Of The Holy Spirit
Send me a DM here (it doesn't let me respond), OR email me: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comToday I'm so honored to have back on the show once again: Cult and cult abuse survivor, overcomer and whistleblower, Vice President of the non-profit Tucson Pops Orchestra, freelance social media photographer, future cosmetology school graduate, Penn State University alum, former Digital Content Creator for KGUN 9, artist, creative, and an incredible hero who has stepped up to break the silence on cult abuse and to educate on how victims can take steps to get out: Caleb Fernandez A little bit about Caleb if you're new here, if you missed his first testimony episode or if you need a little refresher:Born into a Southern California cult that wove its tendrils through generations, Caleb entered this world already entangled in a web of ritualized abuse, mind manipulation and control, and the haunting machinery of coercion. Church leaders were not distant figures but active participants in his suffering and trauma. He endured the silent screams of childhood trauma, brushes with human trafficking disguised as “mission trips,” and the insidious grip of unclean spirits that he boldly names within the walls of Calvary Chapel - an organization he unflinchingly calls a cult whose chains must be shattered and exposed so others can breathe free.Yet even as a little boy, a light inside of him refused to be extinguished. While others bowed under the weight of fear and dogma, Caleb discovered a secret language louder than any threat: the power of creation. From his earliest school days, he poured his entire being into musical theater, where performance, music, and collective artistry became his sanctuary. On stage, under lights that felt like an escape from reality, he found a voice that could not be silenced. That creative current - raw, resilient, and radiant - carried him forward like a river carving through stone. It led him to Penn State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in advertising and public relations, armed with the tools of storytelling and influence. From there, he soared to New York City, mastering production, photography, and art direction - skills that would later become both his personal expression and his weapons of advocacy.Today, at 33, Caleb stands as living proof that survival is not mere endurance - it is alchemical transformation. His escape, hard-won and culminating in 2025, was no quiet exit but a triumphant breaking of chains. Every step forward has been an act of radical courage. Now free, he channels that hard-won wisdom into lifting others up as a dedicated survivor advocate and whistleblower. As vice president of the nonprofit Tucson Pops Orchestra, he turns music into medicine and community into sanctuary - proof that the same hands once bound by control can now conduct symphonies of healing. He continues as a freelance social media photographer and strategic digital creative, drawing on expertise in still and moving images, retouching, scripting, editing, event planning, and brand representation. With cosmetology school on the horizon, his creative vision expands ever outward, crafting beauty from the very places where darkness once tried to claim him.ButCaleb is so much more than a survivor. He is a living harmony of resilience - a man who gathered the shattered notes of his past and composed a future filled with purpose, artistry, and fierce advocacy. His testimony is not only deeply moving; it is irrefutable evidence and an urgent beacon: Calvary Chapel operates as a cult, and there are practical, life-saving steps anyone still trapped inside can take to break free. He gives a voice to the silenced and a torch to the weary. His story reminds every person who has ever felt trapped, silenced, or broken that the light inside you is stronger than any cult, any abuse, and any chain. From the depths of unimaginable darkness, Caleb has risen—not merely to survive, but to sing, to create, to lead, and to show others the way out. His voice carries the unmistakable frequency of freedom, and that sound is changing lives. In him, we see not just the power of one soul to reclaim itself, but the promise that every shattered life can become a masterpiece of hope. Rise with him. Hear his song. And know that freedom is possible.

In this practical session from the Expositors Collective training event at Reliance Church in Temecula, California, Bryan Stupar introduces the inductive Bible study method. He defines it as slowing down to observe what the Bible says, understand what it means, and respond with worship and obedience.Inductive Bible study helps us move from asking, “What do I want the text to say?” to asking, “What is God communicating through this passage?” Instead of beginning with our preferred conclusion and searching Scripture for support, we begin with the biblical text and allow it to guide us toward its intended meaning.Bryan walks through the three movements of inductive Bible study—observation, interpretation, and application—and offers accessible practices that can strengthen personal study and sermon preparation. These include reading repeatedly, listening to Scripture aloud, comparing translations, identifying repeated words, studying context, recognizing literary genres, and allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture. The ultimate goal, however, is not merely accumulating biblical information. We study Scripture to encounter the risen Christ, know the Father, respond to the Holy Spirit, and become people whose lives increasingly display the love, peace, joy, and kindness of Jesus. In this episodeA simple definition of inductive Bible studyMoving from “What do I want the text to say?” to “What is God communicating?”The difference between inductive and deductive approachesWhy familiarity with a passage is not the same as understanding itRecognizing the assumptions and cultural ideas we bring to ScriptureThe importance of slowing downObservation: What does the text say?Why Bryan listens to a biblical book dozens of timesComparing translations and identifying repeated wordsAsking who, what, when, where, why, and howInterpretation: What does the text mean? Why context is criticalAllowing Scripture to interpret ScriptureUnderstanding literary genresIdentifying the author's main pointApplication: How should this text change me?Praying Scripture honestlyMoving from biblical knowledge to spiritual transformationThe three movements of inductive Bible studyObservation: What does the text say?Read the passage repeatedly. Listen to it aloud. Compare reliable translations. Look for repeated words and phrases. Ask basic questions about the author, audience, setting, structure, and literary form.Interpretation: What does the text mean?Study the immediate and broader context. Ask what comes before and after the passage. Let Scripture interpret Scripture, follow cross-references, recognize the genre, and identify the author's main point.Application: How should the text change me?Ask what the Holy Spirit is calling you to believe, obey, confess, or trust God for. Turn the passage into prayer and respond with concrete obedience.About Bryan StuparLearn more about Bryan Stupar and Calvary SLO:https://www.calvaryslo.com/about/our-team/member/102862/About Expositors CollectiveExpositors Collective exists to equip, encourage, and mentor the next generation of Christ-centred preachers. The Promise Of The Holy Spirit
The Way, the Truth, and the Life: Knowing Jesus with Kristin Nave – John 14 n Episode 148 of Divine Table Talk, Jamie and Jane welcome Bible teacher and author Kristin Nave for a powerful conversation centered on John 14 and one of Jesus' most defining declarations: “I am the way and the truth and the life.” Together, they unpack what these words mean for us today. What does it look like to follow Jesus as the Way when we don't know where we're going? How do we anchor ourselves in the Truth when so many voices compete for our attention? And what does it mean to experience Jesus not simply as part of our lives, but as the Life itself? Kristin brings her passion for Scripture and practical Bible study into a conversation about knowing Jesus personally, trusting Him in uncertainty, and allowing God's Word to shape how we live. John 14 isn't simply giving us directions for finding our way to God. Jesus makes an extraordinary claim: He is the way. If you're searching for direction, wrestling with truth, or longing for a deeper relationship with Jesus, pull up a chair. This conversation is for you. Reflection Question: Am I simply asking Jesus to show me the way or am I trusting that Jesus Himself is the Way? ____________________________________ Connect with Jamie: Website: www.jamieklusacek.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jamieklusacek Connect with Jane: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/janewwilliams Connect with Kristin Nave: Website: www.abidingfree.com Website: www.shelovesbible.com Instagram: @shelovesbible ____________________________________ Get Jamie's Newest Book: Living Loved: An 8-week Journey to Living Fully Loved
