A verse by verse study throughout the book of Deuteronomy with Pastor Chad Myhre of Calvary Chapel of Charlottesville.
Satan has an open and shut case against us. We can't deny we're sinful and deserve death. But, as Pastor Dion will remind us in today's message, our well-deserved sentence of death and separation from God has already been commuted. In His incredible grace and love, Christ bore all of it on the cross for us. Not only the misery and torment of a horrific physical death, but the immeasurable pain of being separated and forsaken by His Father in Heaven – He did it all to secure our redemption.
In this teaching, Pastor Randy Mosher, Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel of the Cumberland Valley, continues to lead us in a verse-by-verse study through the Book of Jeremiah. In this teaching he picks up in Jeremiah 25:34 and continues into chapter 26:11. In these powerful and sobering passages, we'll witness God's declaration of judgment not just on Judah, but on the nations as a whole. The imagery is vivid and weighty—a cup of God's wrath passed from one kingdom to the next, symbolizing His righteous anger against rebellion and injustice. But the message doesn't end with judgment; in chapter 26, we see the prophet Jeremiah standing in the temple courts, faithfully proclaiming God's word to a resistant and hostile audience. Some reject him outright. Others call for his death. But there are also those who pause and listen—proving that even in the midst of national hard-heartedness, there are still hearts willing to respond. As we study these chapters, we reflect not only on what happened in ancient Judah, but also on what it means for us today. These verses remind us that speaking God's truth may not always be popular, but it is always necessary. Jeremiah's courage—and even the example of another little-known prophet named Uriah—challenges us to be faithful witnesses in our own time, even when costly. God is no respecter of persons. He doesn't look at you and compare you to your neighbor. He looks at you and sees His beloved Creation, full of potential and beautiful in His sight. You may think, oh, sure, that sounds nice, but it's hard to believe… Please, believe it. As Pastor Dion will encourage us in today's message, it doesn't matter how competent we think we are. God loves to use broken vessels – it brings Him the glory instead of drawing attention to the talents or abilities of the individual.
