The Second Coming of Christ
Welcome to Episode #191 of the Way of the Bible podcast. This is our seventh of eight episodes in our Twenty-Fourth mini-series entitled The Return of Jesus Christ [3]. On today's episode, we will begin with background on the state of Eschatological thinking today, and then compare the Rapture of the church and the Second Coming of Jesus on the Day of the Lord. We will then begin an exploration into what's happening in heaven after the church is taken off the earth and before the tribulations on earth begin. I've been saying since the beginning of these mini-series on the return of Jesus, that the signs of the times are lining up such that if something as paradigm-shifting as the Rapture were to occur, it would not be outrageous and unexplainable. And yet, so few, and I mean very few, in the visible church today are even aware of such a thing called the Rapture. Let me start there and work toward the materials for today. It wasn't always this way. I'd presented on Episode #189 a boatload of New Testament rapture passages validating that the snatching away/Rapture of the church was the eschatological position of Jesus, his apostles, and the early church fathers through the second century. The eschatology of the church was radically, or better yet, hard-wired to drop this view and pick up another when the church married the world under Emperor Theodosius I. The marriage idiom for the church is critical when thinking of the Bible. This marriage happened when Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire in 380 AD. Prior to that, during the church's engagement period to the world, Emperor Constantine legalized Christianity with the Edict of Milan in 313 AD. This ended the state-sponsored persecution of Christians and began a period of religious tolerance of Christianity throughout the Roman Empire. Constantine built churches, declared Sunday a public holiday, and granted the church legal and financial advantages. You could say the visible church, in which the bride of Christ is hidden, exchanged remaining pure for the anticipated return of Jesus for enmeshment and acceptance in the world, and to reengage opportunities to indulge in the idolatries of the world from which had been forsaken by the teachings of the epistles for almost 300 years. Why would it do that?
What is really meant by the “Mark of the Beast” in Revelation 13—and why does it matter for Catholics today? In this episode, Steve Wood breaks open one of the most debated passages in biblical prophecy, explaining what Revelation 13:16-18 teaches about the Antichrist, allegiance, apostasy, and the spiritual dangers Christians will face before Christ's Second Coming. Drawing from Scripture, the Early Church Fathers, the Didache, Hippolytus, Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, the Catechism (CCC 675–677), and comments from Pope Benedict XVI, Steve shows why the warning in Revelation 13 is not limited to first-century Rome. This episode offers a clear, accessible explanation of one of the most misunderstood passages in Revelation—and why its message is essential for every believer preparing for the ultimate battle between Christ and the forces of evil. Listen now to better understand the Mark of the Beast, the rise of the Antichrist, and the Church's prophetic teaching for the end times. “Can we hire psychics for missing persons?” This episode explores the Church’s stance on seeking psychic help, addressing whether this teaching stems from Jesus or the catechism. Additionally, we delve into Aquinas’ views on predestination versus Calvin’s, the implications of a new document on Mary, and the fate of souls at the Second Coming. This week, Dudley and his daughter Karis continue their conversation, unpacking the Gospel Truth about living with faith and courage as The Second Coming draws near. In it, he explores how believers can stand strong amid an Apocalypse Rising, equipped with the Armor of God to push back darkness and reveal the light of Christ in a world searching for hope.Drawing from prophetic Scripture, Dudley reminds us that the end of the age isn't a story of despair but of redemption—where the Church shines brightest in times of testing. You'll gain fresh perspective on how God's people are called not to fear the future, but to prepare their hearts for the return of the King.Get Dudley's Weekly Word delivered right to your inbox every Friday! Sometimes we over complicate the things to do to prepare for the Lord's Second Coming, when in reality - it could come down to just two letters.
The second coming of Jesus was a part of the basic discipleship of the early church and a major theme of the New Testament, yet is often overlooked today. Listen in as we share the significance of this biblical truth for all believers and for missions.

In Matthew 24, Jesus makes it clear — “. . . concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” So why do people keep trying to predict it? In this episode of Walking with God, Pastor Jeff explores what Scripture really teaches about the Second Coming — and why our focus shouldn't be on when Christ returns, but on how we live while we wait. Whether His return comes in the next minute or the next millennium, discover what it means to be faithful, watchful, and ready. In today's homily, Fr. Chris invites us to confront a reality many avoid: the Church teaches that we are living in the “end times”—not because the world is ending tomorrow, but because public revelation closed with the death of the last Apostle. As the liturgical year ends, the Gospel readings turn our attention to eschatology: the destruction of the Temple, the trials that precede the end, and the Second Coming of Christ. Jesus warns that earthly securities crumble, but the true Temple—His Eucharistic Presence and the soul living in grace—endures forever (cf. 1 Cor 3:16).Scripture is clear: “All who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Tim 3:12). Fr. Chris explains how persecution purifies both the innocent and the guilty in the Church, reminding us that the Church is both divine and human—perfect in her doctrine, yet wounded in her members. Even so, Jesus promises that faithfulness leads to eternal life, even when earthly suffering seems overwhelming.Drawing on the witness of modern martyrs, especially Christians in Nigeria, Fr. Chris shows that God grants particular graces to those who suffer for the Gospel. Their serenity in the face of death mirrors the peace of the early martyrs, reminding us that Christian hope is not shaken by earthly violence. As Jesus told St. Faustina, He offers the world this “time of mercy” before the time of justice (Diary, 1160). Now is the moment to return to Him with trust.Whether through persecution, family tensions, daily misunderstandings, or the crosses we quietly bear, Christians are invited to unite their sufferings to the Cross, fulfilling St. Paul's words: “I complete what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of His body” (Col 1:24). Remaining faithful in a world of confusion is not fearmongering—it is the path to peace, hope, and eternal life. We belong to a Kingdom that cannot be shaken.#marian #marians #marianfathers #marianhelpers #divinemercy #thedivinemercy #catholic #catholicism #romancatholic #romancatholicism #frchrisalar #catholictiktok #endtimes #eschatology #catholichomily #persecution #martyrs #hope #trust #divinemercydevotion #jesusitrustinyou ★ Support this podcast ★

Discerning spirits, the nature of God, glorious sociality, the timing of the Second Coming, eternal marriage, and plural marriage. In this pivotal lesson, we jump into the deep end of Restoration doctrine, covering Joseph Smith's most profound teachings on the nature of God, our eternal potential, and the covenants that bind us forever. Summary: This episode explores D&C 129–132, revelations containing foundational and high-level doctrine for the Church. D&C 129: Discerning Spirits. The Lord provides "three grand keys" to distinguish a resurrected being, a righteous spirit, and the devil appearing as an angel of light. This section emphasizes the eternal reality of the body and the importance of discernment. D&C 130: Eternal Knowledge and Timing. Joseph records several "items of instruction," including the promise that "whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection," providing an "advantage in the world to come." He also recounts the Lord's gentle command to "trouble me no more" about the timing of the Second Coming. Crucially, we learn that the "same sociality" we enjoy here, "coupled with eternal glory," will exist in the world to come. D&C 131: The New and Everlasting Covenant. This section reveals that in the celestial glory, a man "must enter into this order of the priesthood [the new and everlasting covenant of marriage]" to obtain the highest degree and have an eternal "increase." D&C 132: Eternal Marriage and Law. This essential revelation lays out the foundational law of eternal marriage, which must be "sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise" and entered into by revelation through the authorized servant. We discuss the stark difference between marriages that "have an end when men are dead" and those that lead to "thrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers." We also examine the difficult topic of plural marriage, seeing it as an Abrahamic test given by command to "restore all things." Steve - Oklahoma City, OK (8:53)I am a Mormon convert. I hear many critics distorting Mormon teachings. There is evidence for the Book of Mormon's reliability. It is very easy for people to live their lives as if there is not a Second Coming. Things that are far away are easy to put out of one's mind. That is why when tragedies happen in our sinful world, Jesus wants us to pull back our thoughts to repentance and faith. He wants us to consider the end, and our end.Even if we will not all live to the second coming of Christ, it is destined for every man to die, and then the judgment. As Paul explains to the Thessalonians in the epistle reading, even those who have died before Christ's return will on the last day be awakened for it. So the second coming of Christ is something that involves every person of every time and place.

What is the Last Judgment?Christ's Second Coming gives the Son of God this gift: To hear the Voice for God proclaim that what is false is false, and what is true has never changed. And this the judgment is in which perception ends. At first you see a world that has accepted this as true, projected from a now corrected mind. And with this holy sight, perception gives a silent blessing and then disappears, its goal accomplished and its mission done. The Final Judgment on the world contains no condemnation. For it sees the world as totally forgiven, without sin and wholly purposeless. Without a cause, and now without a function in Christ's sight, it merely slips away to nothingness. There it was born, and there it ends as well. And all the figures in the dream in which the world began go with it. Bodies now are useless, and will therefore fade away, because the Son of God is limitless. You who believed that God's Last Judgment would condemn the world to hell along with you, accept this holy truth: God's Judgment is the gift of the Correction He bestowed on all your errors, freeing you from them, and all effects they ever seemed to have. To fear God's saving grace is but to fear complete release from suffering, return to peace, security and happiness, and union with your own Identity.God's Final Judgment is as merciful as every step in His appointed plan to bless His Son, and call him to return to the eternal peace He shares with him. Be not afraid of love. For it alone can heal all sorrow, wipe away all tears, and gently waken from his dream of pain the Son whom God acknowledges as His. Be not afraid of this. Salvation asks you give it welcome. And the world awaits your glad acceptance, which will set it free. This is God's Final Judgment: “You are still My holy Son, forever innocent, forever loving and forever loved, as limitless as your Creator, and completely changeless and forever pure. Therefore awaken and return to Me. I am your Father and you are My Son.”;LESSON 311I Judge All Things As I Would Have Them Be.Judgment was made to be a weapon used against the truth. It separates what it is being used against, and sets it off as if it were a thing apart. And then it makes of it what you would have it be. It judges what it cannot understand, because it cannot see totality and therefore judges falsely. Let us not use it today, but make a gift of it to Him Who has a different use for it. He will relieve us of the agony of all the judgments we have made against ourselves, and re-establish peace of mind by giving us God's Judgment of His Son.Father, we wait with open mind today, to hear Your Judgment of the Son You love. We do not know him, and we cannot judge. And so we let Your Love decide what he whom You created as Your Son must be.- Jesus Christ in ACIM

In this episode of the XS Noize Podcast, Mark Millar is joined by Mani — legendary bassist of The Stone Roses and Primal Scream, and one of the most influential figures in British rock history. From the euphoric rise of The Stone Roses — the band that defined a generation and changed the sound of British music — to the wild creative freedom of Primal Scream, Mani's journey has been nothing short of iconic. In this conversation, Mani looks back on the moments that shaped him — from the late-'80s Manchester underground, when The Roses' mix of psychedelic swagger and dancefloor groove ignited the Madchester movement, to recording their classic debut album and riding the wave of euphoria that followed. He opens up about the frustration of losing momentum during the long and bitter legal battles with Silvertone Records and FM Revolver, a period that tested the band's spirit but ultimately forged their defiant edge. He recalls the band's rebirth with Second Coming, his explosive years with Primal Scream, and the emotional highs of reuniting The Roses for the monumental Heaton Park shows — one of the greatest comebacks in modern music. Mani reflects on the brotherhood, the chaos, and the transcendence that came with it all — and what it means to live through those storms with joy still intact. "The four of us. Boom. There it is. The power of four. And it was beautiful." – Mani (on the magic of The Stone Roses' reunion) Mani also shares personal memories of the Beautiful Thing sessions, the deep connection between groove and spirituality, and how he's carried The Roses' sense of defiance and soul into everything since. With trademark humour and honesty, he talks about surviving the highs and lows of fame, the secret to keeping the spirit of rock 'n' roll alive, and why music, at its best, still feels like a resurrection. Listen to the full episode and join Mani as he reflects on a lifetime in music — from Manchester to the world — The groove, the chaos, the resurrection.

" Last week, we continued through the letter of 1 John and explored how to have “A Discerning Life: Dealing with Deceivers." This week, we continue through the letter of 1 John, and we will explore how to have A Discerning Life: Living in Light of the Lord's Return" from 1 John 2:28-3:3 from the NIV, which is found on page 1901 of your Pew Bibles. God's Children and Sin 28 And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. 29 If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears,[a] we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. Opening Prayer The doctrine known as the Second Coming (or the return of Christ) either attracts mockery, strikes fear, or brings comfort. Many men and women were raised with a respect for the Bible or were brought up in the church, but never fully grasped the gospel of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. As such, they hear about the coming of Christ to judge the living and the dead … and it brings dread. Perhaps there are also some true believers who have strayed so far from the right path that they fear the coming of the Savior as the day they must give an account for their lives of unfaithfulness to the Lord. In both cases, the Second Coming is associated with fear or shame. However, many believers eagerly await their Lord's return with hope and anticipation. They know and believe with longing the words of Paul: For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died[a] will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words. (1 Thes. 4:16–18) Invariably, when I have the privilege of...
Many believers were taught to expect a secret “rapture” before tribulation—but is that what Scripture teaches? In A Biblical Test of the Pre-Trib Rapture Doctrine, we test this popular view using only the Word of God. Through passages like Matthew 24, 1 Thessalonians 4–5, 2 Thessalonians 2, and Revelation 20, we discover that the resurrection and gathering of the saints occur after the tribulation and before the wrath of YHWH. This teaching reveals a unified biblical timeline—one return, one first resurrection, one gathering—and calls us to endurance rather than escape.Takeaway: Our hope is not removal from trial but resurrection with Messiah Yeshua and faithfulness until His appearing.

The studio that created Fallout: New Vegas has had a busy year, delivering Avowed, the early access of Grounded 2, and now Outer Worlds 2. This latest release comes the closest to the team's legacy in the Fallout universe. But can it achieve those high highs without the beloved trappings of post-apocalyptic America? And would you believe it has strong feelings about capitalism? Get the full list of games (and other stuff) discussed at www.besties.fan. Want more episodes? Bible Prophecy Under the Microscope-Episode 63 Gary continues his discussion of Matthew 23-25 with Darren Doane. The two discussed what is known as Jesus' Olivet Discourse a few years back, and this conversation picks up where they left off, continuing through Matthew 25. Many commentators see a break in the events of Matthew 24, with part of it being fulfilled in the first century and the rest being fulfilled in our future. Is this valid? This is only an excerpt from Part 4 of the series. All four parts of the discussion can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDoYkcngzFPgguXQ0r03fo-k5xRbeqL1v
