In this pivotal lesson, we jump into the deep end of Restoration doctrine, covering Joseph Smith's most profound teachings on the nature of God, our eternal potential, and the covenants that bind us forever. Summary: This episode explores D&C 129–132, revelations containing foundational and high-level doctrine for the Church. D&C 129: Discerning Spirits. The Lord provides "three grand keys" to distinguish a resurrected being, a righteous spirit, and the devil appearing as an angel of light. This section emphasizes the eternal reality of the body and the importance of discernment. D&C 130: Eternal Knowledge and Timing. Joseph records several "items of instruction," including the promise that "whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection," providing an "advantage in the world to come." He also recounts the Lord's gentle command to "trouble me no more" about the timing of the Second Coming. What is the Last Judgment?Christ's Second Coming gives the Son of God this gift: To hear the Voice for God proclaim that what is false is false, and what is true has never changed. And this the judgment is in which perception ends. At first you see a world that has accepted this as true, projected from a now corrected mind. And with this holy sight, perception gives a silent blessing and then disappears, its goal accomplished and its mission done.The Final Judgment on the world contains no condemnation. For it sees the world as totally forgiven, without sin and wholly purposeless. Without a cause, and now without a function in Christ's sight, it merely slips away to nothingness. There it was born, and there it ends as well. And all the figures in the dream in which the world began go with it. Bodies now are useless, and will therefore fade away, because the Son of God is limitless.You who believed that God's Last Judgment would condemn the world to hell along with you, accept this holy truth: God's Judgment is the gift of the Correction He bestowed on all your errors, freeing you from them, and all effects they ever seemed to have. Hi Folks. Welcome to the podcast. Last time, I said we'd talk about the purposes of the Rapture on the next podcast and here we are, so let's dive right in.The Purposes of the Rapture, not necessarily in order of importance, are as follows:1. The first purpose of the Rapture is to deliver believers - the Church - from the wrath to come, the 7 year Tribulation. Which wrath? The 7 year Tribulation or the Lake of Fire? It has to be The Tribulation. Why? Because the Apostle Paul is talking to believers, the Church at Thessalonica. Let's read the relevant verse:1 Thessalonians 1:10 (NKJV) and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.So he can't be talking about the Lake of Fire. No, he is explaining one of the purposes of the Rapture to these believers. They will be saved from the wrath to come. His message is not an evangelistic one. It is a teaching. This delivering from the wrath to come is first in the sequence of purposes. It shows us today that it is OK for us to tell unbelievers that they can be delivered from the wrath to come, meaning The Tribulation, if they believe in the finished work of Yeshua on the cross. 2. The second purpose of the Rapture is to reveal the Antichrist. 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 (NKJV) For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. [8] And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.By means of the Rapture, the Holy Spirit in the Church - He who now restrains - is removed causing the Antichrist to be revealed. And then, the Antichrist will make a 7 year covenant with Israel and that commences The Tribulation (Daniel 9:27).Daniel 9:27 (NKJV) Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.”The following purposes of The Rapture are because of The Tribulation that results from the Rapture.3. The third purpose of the Rapture is to reap a harvest of souls. These are unsaved people who will enter the Kingdom of God but not as part of the Church (which has been raptured). Let's read about three clear instances of this. There may be other instances during these 7 years but these are clear:a. Revelation 7:4, 9-10 The 144,000 Jewish witnesses:Revelation 7:4 (NKJV) And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed:Revelation 7:9-10 (NKJV) After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, [10] and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”b. Revelation 11:3 The two Jewish witnesses in Jerusalem.Revelation 11:3 (NKJV) And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”c. Revelation 14:6-7 (NKJV) The angel who witnesses to every people group.Revelation 14:6-7 (NKJV) Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— [7] saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”4. The fourth purpose of the Rapture is the final salvation of the Jewish nation by allowing the Antichrist to be revealed in his final form. The Antichrist has already been revealed as the ultimate false Messiah - that was the first seal of Revelation 6:2, the rider on the white horse carrying a bow but no arrows - but at the midpoint of the Tribulation he is revealed as the man of lawlessness who sets himself up in the temple as god and that begins the last half of The Tribulation. The abomination of desolation occurs at this point. In this second half of the Tribulation, the Antichrist will attempt to kill every last Jewish person in the world. 2/3 of the Jewish people will die but 1/3 will survive and these will comprise the All Israel will be saved of Romans 11:26. These will enter the Millennial Kingdom to rule and reign with their Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.5. The fifth purpose of the Rapture is to allow the Second Coming of Christ followed by the setting up of His Millennial Kingdom.Jesus will not return until the Tribulation is completed.For a summary of some of this material and some additional background information, please see the brief slide presentation embedded in the written presentation on Substack. Click on it to download it. Please don't miss that.Application:* If you are an unbeliever, whether you are a Jew or a Gentile, please take heed. You don't want to enter the Tribulation. Don't ever plan to keep on sinning now and then to enter The Tribulation and be saved. Bad idea! It may never happen.* If you are a Church member and a believer (or not) you must stand with Israel. God expects it. The Jewish people are not perfect, far from it. But God loves them and expects you to do so too. Don't miss this. Remember:Genesis 12:2-3 (NKJV) I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. God's Children and Sin 28 And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. 29 If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears,[a] we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. Opening Prayer The doctrine known as the Second Coming (or the return of Christ) either attracts mockery, strikes fear, or brings comfort.  Many men and women were raised with a respect for the Bible or were brought up in the church, but never fully grasped the gospel of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. As such, they hear about the coming of Christ to judge the living and the dead … and it brings dread. Perhaps there are also some true believers who have strayed so far from the right path that they fear the coming of the Savior as the day they must give an account for their lives of unfaithfulness to the Lord. In both cases, the Second Coming is associated with fear or shame. However, many believers eagerly await their Lord's return with hope and anticipation. They know and believe with longing the words of Paul: For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died[a] will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. What is the Second Coming?Christ's Second Coming, which is sure as God, is merely the correction of mistakes, and the return of sanity. It is a part of the condition that restores the never lost, and reestablishes what is forever and forever true. It is the invitation to God's Word to take illusion's place; the willingness to let forgiveness rest upon all things without exception and without reserve.It is the all-inclusive nature of Christ's Second Coming that permits it to embrace the world and hold you safe within its gentle advent, which encompasses all living things with you. There is no end to the release the Second Coming brings, as God's creation must be limitless. Forgiveness lights the Second Coming's way, because it shines on everything as one. And thus is oneness recognized at last.The Second Coming ends the lessons that the Holy Spirit teaches, making way for the Last Judgment, in which learning ends in one last summary that will extend beyond itself, and reaches up to God. The Second Coming is the time in which all minds are given to the hands of Christ, to be returned to spirit in the name of true creation and the Will of God.The Second Coming is the one event in time which time itself can not affect. For every one who ever came to die, or yet will come or who is present now, is equally released from what he made. In this equality is Christ restored as one Identity, in Which the Sons of God acknowledge that they all are one. Many believers were taught to expect a secret “rapture” before tribulation—but is that what Scripture teaches? In A Biblical Test of the Pre-Trib Rapture Doctrine, we test this popular view using only the Word of God. Through passages like Matthew 24, 1 Thessalonians 4–5, 2 Thessalonians 2, and Revelation 20, we discover that the resurrection and gathering of the saints occur after the tribulation and before the wrath of YHWH. What is the symbolic meaning of the seven-sealed scroll in the book of Revelation? Dr. Kurschner first described three common interpretations. Then he explicated his new view, which is the most plausible, called a certificate of debenture (i.e. debt). The nature of the first four seals, fifth seal, and the sixth seal support this interpretation, which also gives additional support for the prewrath position in the book of Revelation. The seals on the scroll are not God's wrath. October 26, 2025The Apostle John describes his vision of the Second Coming of Jesus, the future event when Jesus will return to earth, conquer His enemies, and reign as King of the world. Every Christian on earth and in heaven is united in anticipating this climactic event. It is the culmination of the Book of Revelation and the highlight of the history of the world. At the end of the seven-year tribulation, the Antichrist's army will march to Israel to fight a “winner-takes-all” battle against Jesus, commonly called the Battle of Armageddon. Then Jesus will return to earth, destroy the Antichrist's army with a word, cast the Antichrist and his false prophet into the lake of fire, and establish His Kingdom on earth. Well, the church in Thessalonica had been misinformed about the Second Coming of Christ, and had now grown concerned that their loved ones who had departed were no longer able to be saved.  Paul clearly and emphatically addressed those false teachings, and then, for good measure, he added some additional thoughts on the subject of Christ's second coming.
