What does the Bible really say about eternal life—and what happens to our bodies after death? In this episode, Steve Wood unpacks the powerful truth of 1 John 3:2 and tackles common misconceptions, including the widespread but unbiblical belief that the soul alone goes to heaven. Instead, Scripture teaches the resurrection of the body and a future of embodied life on a renewed earth with Jesus. Steve draws from Acts, Philippians, John's Gospel, and Revelation to explain what Christians can truly expect after the Second Coming—and what that means for both believers and unbelievers. He also offers a thoughtful reflection on cremation, the Catechism, and how our burial choices can witness to the hope of resurrection. What if Christ's Second Coming is not a distant, future event but is already underway—perceptible now through what the liturgy of the Christian Community calls “the eyes of the soul”? This radical perspective challenges both traditional Christian expectations and modern spiritual assumptions.Jonah and Patrick explore the depths of the Ascension mystery, especially in its connection to the riddle of Christ's return. Through close readings of Scripture and insights from the liturgy, they reveal that Christ's reappearance does not depend on physical sight but on a new organ of perception—one cultivated through love and devotion. This is a seeing that can behold him in the “being of the clouds.”But how can we come to see in this new way? The conversation turns to prayer and the mystery of clouds. Just as water rises, becomes cloud, and returns as rain, our prayers ascend as love-forces that can be gathered and poured out as blessings. When we direct these soul-forces toward Christ, we form the very medium through which he reveals himself—not in a single place, but like lightning across the heavens: a universal presence, made visible through devotion.***Support the showThe Light in Every Thing is a podcast of The Seminary of The Christian Community in North America. [audio mp3="https://www.crossbridgeofocean.org/wp-content/uploads/sermons/2025/06/2025_06_15.mp3"][/audio] The Second Coming of Christ has been the subject of much speculation during the past 2000 years. Theologians, pastors, Bible teachers, and even false teachers have spent much time and energy trying to come up with the definitive times table concerning the Second Coming.

In this episode I asked it to summarize the signs of the Second Coming of Christ and it did. So I talk about the signs and where we are at, listen to and follow our Prophet Elder Russell M. Nelson. We are in the last half of the ninth inning! President Nelson said: “Learn for yourselves who you really are. Ask your Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, how He feels about you and your mission here on earth. If you ask with real intent, over time the Spirit will whisper the life-changing truth to you. Record those impressions and review them often, and follow through with exactness.” followed by “This means they know you. They trust you and they'll help you fulfill your personal mission on this earth.”Next episode will be 2025-07-07 and it will include a meditation! All my life I felt awkward and out of place, not because of my religion, but because of my spiritual gifts. It was hard to combine the idea of what first seemed like two separate worlds. So my whole life I have tried. I have learnt more about my gifts, and stayed faithful to my faith. But then I heard people left the church because it seems impossible to combine the two. So I am here, to try and mend the rift. To show that it is possible to be both LDS and to have, and use, our spiritual gifts. I am not alone on this journey, but my sister, who just is waking up to her spiritual gifts is by my side and she will also share her story.Jesus Christ, our older brother, was a healer. He asked us to love one another. So let´s follow in his footsteps. In this text we see a question posed by the disciples as to the signs that would point to Christ second coming. In this study, I want to look at what the signs are and are they for us today.
Some people are now saying that most Bible prophecies—including the Great Tribulation and even the Second Coming—already happened in 70 A.D. That's the heart of something called the Partial Preterist view. But is it biblical… or dangerously deceptive? Today, we're exposing the surprising origins of this doctrine, why it contradicts clear Scripture, and what it really means for the Church and the end-time revival. Matthew 24:9-15
Fear is a powerful emotion. Though some are more prone to it than others, all struggle with it. Fear can paralyze your ability to take action, and fear can cause you to forfeit what is good. However, the most destructive and dangerous reaction to fear is that it can cause you to lose your confident hope in God's promises and surrender your expectant joy in the kingdom of God.The Thessalonians Christians were fearful that the persecutions they were enduring meant that they had missed the Second Coming of Christ and were thus experiencing the judgment of Christ on the wicked. Paul had written his first letter to the Thessalonians to assure them that Christ would rapture the church before the judgment of the wicked and to encourage them that they had not missed the rapture.Paul writes this second letter to address this issue again. The church was enduring severe persecution. Additionally, there were false teachers who claimed that Christ had already returned. The pressures of persecution and the confusion caused by false teaching had caused the church to fear again that they had missed the rapture.Paul writes this letter not to elaborate on all the details of the Second Coming and the particulars of the antichrist but as a pastor to his church, to encourage them to hold tightly to God's word with confident hope. The main idea of this passage is: Do not be alarmed by false teachings or fearful of powerless threats but trust in the sovereignty, authority, and power of God.Paul is not writing to rebuke the church or shame them for their fear but rather to warn them of the danger of being deceived and distracted by false teaching. From both false teaching and biblical ignorance, many today struggle with fear and anxiety that steal their confident hope and joy in the Lord. So, how can you keep from being deceived and distracted by false teachings? This passage provides three warnings to help you avoid being distracted by false teachings. Do not be alarmed by false teaching, fearful of the power of false prophets, or deceived by Satan.Find Out More:For more sermons and content from Pastor Ben Smith, visit BenSmithSr.org. JUN. 10, 2025The five crowns (3)."There is laid up for me the crown of righteousness." 2Ti 4:8 NKJVThe third crown mentioned in Scripture is the crown of righteousness. Paul writes: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord...will give to me on that Day, and... also to all who have loved His appearing" (vv. 7-8 NKJV). A pastor amplifies this: "The book of 2 Timothy represents the last known writing of the apostle Paul, and we have reason to believe he was beheaded shortly after writing these words. But rather than dreading death, he was looking forward to the Second Coming. He was...content with his record of service for the Master. Paul's use of the athletic metaphor here is especially descriptive of the life of the believer because it describes struggle, endurance, discipline, and final victory. The Crown of Righteousness is reserved for those who have a longing for the Lord Jesus and who watch for Jesus to come back." Writing to Titus, Paul speaks of "looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13 NKJV). The pastor continues: "Psychologists tell us that anticipation...is an emotion with marvelous healing powers. People who are snowbound sustain their spirits by anticipating the longer days of spring and summer. Couples…separated by military deployment stay sane by anticipating their reunion…Brides and grooms are eager for their wedding day." As a Christian, your best days are ahead of you, and you can anticipate all the glories of heaven and eternity. It should motivate you to be faithful to Jesus as you wait for His return. The five crowns The crown of righteousnessShare This DevotionalSend us a textSupport the showChanging Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!
Series: 1 John: That You May KnowPreacher: Pastor Brian BoneKey Points:Jesus' Imminent Return: The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is coming back soon, and His second coming will be a glorious, visible event of judgment for which all must be ready. The Importance of Abiding in Jesus: To be ready and confident at Christ's return, believers must "abide" in Him, meaning to hold fast and not let go, drawing life and sustenance from Him as branches from a vine. The Wonders of God's Love and Salvation: Be amazed by God's eternal, sovereign love that chose you before creation, saved you from sin and spiritual death, and continually sustains you by grace. The Beatific Vision and Transformation: Believers will literally see Jesus as He is in His glorified form, and this single glimpse will perfectly transform them, removing all desire for sin and providing infinite, unending satisfaction.Daily Gaze for Ongoing Transformation: While the full transformation is future, daily "gazing" at Jesus through spiritual disciplines like Bible reading and worship incrementally transforms believers, purifying them and preparing them for His return.Call to "Wake Up and Look at Jesus": A practical exhortation to intentionally prioritize focusing on Jesus every day, making Him the central gaze of one's heart above worldly distractions, temptations, and anxieties.Salvation through Belief: For non-believers, salvation and the gift of the Holy Spirit are immediately available through simple belief in Jesus Christ, who was lifted up for their healing and eternal life.Reflect & Discuss:How does the reality of Jesus' imminent return impact your daily priorities and long-term planning? What does "abiding in Jesus" practically look like in your life, especially when faced with distractions or temptations? How can you cultivate a deeper sense of amazement at God's love for you and the salvation you've received?Considering the concept of the "beatific vision," how does the promise of seeing Jesus and being transformed encourage you in your spiritual walk? What is one specific step you will take this week to "wake up and look at Jesus" more intentionally each day?Scripture:Main Passage: 1 John 2:28-3:3Supporting Passages: John 15:1-8, 1 Peter 1:8, 1 Corinthians 13:12, Matthew 17:2, Revelation 1:12-16, Revelation 21:23, Psalm 16:11, 2 Corinthians 3:18, Matthew 6:22-23, John 3:14-16, Numbers 21:4-9, Romans 10:9-10.Keywords:Jesus' Return, Second Coming, Abiding in Christ, Last Hour, God's Love, Salvation, Holy Spirit, Spiritual Transformation, Beatific Vision, Perseverance, Discernment, Worship, Bible Study, Eternal Life.

`we do not know when Jesus will return
In Matthew 24 Jesus responds to the disciples who want him to notice the beauty of the temple buildings and he responds with the news that all these buildings will soon be completely demolished. He then sites many things that will happen before the destruction of Jerusalem and/or His Second Coming. We have mistakenly taken these signs to urge his followers to be faithful because his return is close at hand. But Jesus gives only one sign to depend upon and that is the spread of the Good News of the Kingdom to all the world. He leaves no doubt that the coming is unexpected and known only to the Father. Stephanie invites you today to spice up your faith by exploring unexpected connections between two great feasts. She dives deep into the intertwined celebrations of Pentecost in the Christian tradition, and Shavuot in the Jewish faith. Both festivals are celebrated 50 days post-Easter and Passover respectively, and invite us to reconnect with themes of gratitude, thanksgiving, and divine revelation. Through the enduring cycles of joy, preparation, and revelation, both Shavuot and Pentecost call believers into a deeper understanding of divine grace and the cyclical journey of faith. You can purchase the Spring Feasts workbook to take notes while you listen, including the gorgeous visuals we created to accompany your experience: https://www.gospelspice.com/offers/ct6coMYd In the Christian liturgical calendar, Pentecost, celebrated on June 8, 2025, mirrors Shavuot's setting—50 days after the major religious observances of Easter and Passover. It marks the momentous occasion when the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus's followers, empowering us to spread the gospel. God's presence attributes joy and delight to Pentecost, making it a critical event that signifies the birth of the church and believers' empowerment. Shavuot, or the Feast of Weeks, concludes a significant period of anticipation following Passover. Observers commemorate this festival by reading the Ten Commandments and partaking in the harvest of wheat, lauded as the superior grain. Symbolically, Shavuot represents the culmination of the spring feasts, and includes the unique preparation of two loaves of leavened wheat bread, symbolizing humanity's sinful nature. Celebrated with offerings, figs, olive oil, and more, Shavuot is a joyous occasion steeped in history and spirituality. Stephanie discusses these celebrations as a "rehearsal dinner" for the future wedding banquet, the final joyous gathering in Christ's return. This celebration encapsulates both preparation and revelation, drawing a parallel to the Israelites' three days of preparation to receive the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. The festival's ladder-shaped challah symbolizes Moses' ascent to receive the Law, while its inclusion of yeast signifies the sinful nature that, through divine grace, will be fully redeemed. Central to both Shavuot and Pentecost, is the theme of harvest. The gathering of wheat represents the process of evangelism. As believers are sanctified through trials, they are refined wheat, ready for offering and transforming into the spiritual bread of life. In the same vein, Pentecost is a reminder of the Great Commission—empowering believers to go forth and harvest souls for the kingdom of God. Christ embodies the fulfillment of Shavuot. Just as Shavuot celebrates God's revelation to Moses, Pentecost commemorates the Holy Spirit's descension, ushering a new covenant. This underscores a deeper spiritual truth: the festival of Shavuot rehearses the believers' ultimate communion with God, transcending into a season of salvation heralded by Jesus' coming. Stephanie highlights a fascinating contrast between Jewish and Western traditions: the Jewish cyclical view of time versus the Western linear perspective. Shavuot, celebrated from sundown on June 1 to nightfall on June 3, 2025, emphasizes the end of the spring harvest—a marker in the cyclical liturgical calendar that heralds a pause until the fall feasts. Meanwhile, the Western tradition tends to perceive time as linear, steadily moving towards a future point. This cyclical nature of the Jewish liturgical calendar offers hope and progress, especially during periods that may seem monotonous. After the spring feasts conclude, the Jewish calendar enters a four-month period without festive observances until Rosh Hashanah. Stephanie encourages believers to view these "ordinary" times as infused with the joy and anticipation of Shavuot and Pentecost, reflecting the Christian longing between Christ's first and second comings. This period is an invitation to embody thankfulness, evangelism, and charity, preparing for the ultimate harvest in the final gathering. In Revelation 6, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ride onto the world stage. Their arrival signals the beginning of the Great Tribulation, a 7-year period of global turmoil and divine judgment before Christ's Second Coming. This period is marked by global warfare, widespread famine, economic collapse, and the rise of a powerful, Satanic leader called the Antichrist. Can you hear their hoofbeats getting closer?
Bible Prophecy Under the Microscope-Episode 42 Gary concludes his response to John Piper's book, Come, Lord Jesus. Time statements, context, and other books of the Bible help us to understand what words and phrases in the Bible actually mean. We also need to be careful that we are interpreting biblical words in light of how an ancient audience would understand it, not how a 21st century audience does.

This week, Kristina Wenger and Elissa Bjeletich consider the Parable of the Servants Waiting for their Lord. We'll be thinking about the Second Coming, and about how important it is for Church leaders to do a good job of watching over Jesus' house.
Science without God becomes sorcery. Jesus prophesied that prior to his Second Coming conditions will be similar to the days of Noah when violence was rampant and genetic manipulation altered human DNA. Most of all, people were unaware that judgment was coming.
This week, Dudley and David Holland take a closer look at what comes next in the story of redemption—diving deep into the Second Coming of Christ, the purpose of the church, and the true mission believers are called to fulfill. Together, they contrast New Covenant Theology with popular End Times views shaped by dispensationalism, offering a more hope-filled vision of Christ's current rule and reign. They explore key themes like spiritual warfare, the progressive expansion of God's kingdom, and how the gospel is meant to transform systems, not escape them. With clarity and conviction, they unpack Psalm 110, the Great Commission, and the joy of living led by the Spirit. Get Dudley's Weekly Word delivered right to your inbox every Friday! Bible Prophecy Under the Microscope-Episode 41 Gary continues his review of John Piper's book, Come, Lord Jesus. Pastor Piper discusses the actual language used by Jesus in the NT, but still argues that Jesus' words didn't actually mean what they appear to mean. Jesus promised He would come before that generation in the first century died, but Pastor Piper disagrees.
The Doctrine and Covenants is filled with directions to help us for the Lord's Second Coming. Twenty percent of the sections include some detail about the Second Coming or a call to assist the Lord in preparing for a Zion society. Two of these are sections 63 and 65, wherein the Lord references the parables of the Ten Virgins and the Marriage of the Bridegroom in conjunction with Jesus' Second Coming. Join Lynn Hilton Wilson as she explains the symbolism involved in these parables to facilitate a deeper understanding in the modern references. Are you prepared? What is one of the central pillars necessary for the return of the Savior? Find out in this episode.
History declares that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. Did you know this has a powerful prophetic, parallel with the second coming of Jesus? In today's podcast, we discover the ancient symbols of palm branches, kings riding on donkeys, and the meaning of white horses. Bible Prophecy Under the Microscope-Episode 40 Gary begins reviewing John Piper's book, Come Lord Jesus. Most Christians haven't even thought about what it means that Jesus "comes," and definitely not in the context of many references to God "coming" in the Old Testament. This is very important and necessary to defining the entire "end time" framework.
