He served a mission in Honduras, and his son later served in the same mission. He first moved to Utah after meeting his future wife at EFY, and taught Seminary and played water polo and volleyball for Utah State University. They have been married for 27 years. Most of all, he loves teaching and being with valiant Christians around the world. This conversation moves beyond administrative duties to explore practical frameworks for empowering members, delivering difficult counsel, and fostering a revelation-driven ward culture. 00:02:37 – Eric Richards’s Background and Experience 00:06:05 – Core Messages and Focus on Jesus Christ 00:07:42 – Approaching Leadership and Interviews 00:12:21 – The Importance of the Bishop’s Helpline 00:13:05 – Interview Techniques for Revelation 00:20:03 – The Role of Hope in Leadership 00:24:11 – Addressing Pornography in Ministering Interviews 00:30:51 – Supporting Speakers and Teachers in Sacrament Meetings 00:35:07 – Encouraging Discussion in Sunday School 00:39:26 – Inspired Counsel on Callings 00:45:12 – The Bishop’s Prayer List and Personal Ministry 00:46:33 – Ministering Interviews and Strengthening Faith Key Insights Connecting to Christ: All leadership efforts should ultimately prioritize helping individuals develop a personal relationship with the Savior rather than simply maintaining organizational functions. Four Levels of Problem Solving: Leaders can empower members by identifying their current “level” of problem-solving: Level 1 (bringing a completed solution), Level 2 (proposing options), Level 3 (sharing findings/research), or Level 4 (simply asking for the answer). The “Hot Sauce” Technique: Delivering difficult correction is most effective when used as a “compliment sandwich,” where hard truths are encased in genuine love to ensure the counsel is “metabolized” rather than rejected. Facilitating Personal Revelation: Leaders should serve as a “Sherpa” or “guide on the side,” asking questions that invite the member to receive their own answers from the Spirit rather than providing them directly. Wellness Baselines: Richards emphasizes checking a member’s physical (sleep, diet, exercise) and spiritual (prayer, scripture, temple) “baselines” to address holistic needs before tackling complex emotional or behavioral issues. Heart-Led Vulnerability: To create safety, leaders should model vulnerability in sacrament meetings and classes, prioritizing personal, “heart-led” experiences over purely informational “head-led” teaching. Leadership Applications Member Empowerment: Instead of solving every problem, a leader can ask a member where they are on the 1–4 problem-solving scale, encouraging them to find and present their own solutions for the leader’s approval. Ward Council Dynamics: Councils are most effective when members “check their ego” and evaluate every proposal through “three hats”: their perspective as an individual, as a friend/neighbor, and through their specific stewardship. Joyful Ward Culture: Leaders can foster a “Church of Joy” by normalizing post-meeting interactions and using specific roles, such as “stenographers” to document the ward’s spiritual history and community connections. When Jesus crosses into Gentile territory in Matthew 8, He's not just healing a man—He's confronting an occupying force. The demons call themselves “Legion,” a Roman military term that mirrors the Gentile domination of Israel during the Times of the Gentiles foretold by Daniel.   This encounter is a prophetic preview. The demons recognize Jesus' authority, fear judgment before the appointed time, and beg not to be sent to the Abyss. Their request to enter the pigs exposes their torment and destructive nature, while Jesus' authority over them foreshadows the final overthrow of Gentile power at His return.   The townspeople beg Jesus to leave, choosing familiarity over freedom. One man, fully delivered, wants to follow Him—showing the divide between those who benefit from darkness and those rescued from it.   This sermon reveals how Matthew 8 points beyond an exorcism to the Second Coming, when the King will return to crush the final empire and establish His everlasting kingdom.   Watch and see how this powerful moment previews the end of the Times of the Gentiles and the return of Jesus Christ.   #BibleProphecy #EndTimes #SecondComing #JesusIsKing #SpiritualWarfare #TimesOfTheGentiles #BookOfDaniel #Matthew8 #Deliverance #KingdomOfGod #IsraelInProphecy #ReturnOfChrist

Revelation Riddle - Part 5

Part 5. Big Trouble chapter 4 to chapter 16 David Pawson regards the book of Revelation as “probably the most important book in the New Testament for the Church to be studying right now for the very practical purpose for which it was written”, namely, to be “a manual for martyrdom”. Jesus provides encouragement to Christians facing persecution, exhorting them to endure and overcome. The book has present and future relevance for believers, and while it is addressed to the believers in the first-century AD, Jesus' words and the prophecies (some yet to be fulfilled) speak just as powerfully to Christians and the Church today. The many competing interpretations have caused confusion, particularly in relation to prophetic symbolism and the timings and nature of future events. If there are “as many riddles as there are words” here, then David demystifies and solves the book's riddle by explaining the more controversial, widely debated, and variously interpreted middle chapters, while also advocating reading Revelation in the plainest sense where possible. Jesus, in his compassion, has warned believers to prepare for his Second Coming. They are to remain faithful by upholding morals, resisting corruption, and identifying and opposing deception (false teaching), and, if necessary, enduring persecution. David unpacks Revelation's symbolism while addressing divisive subjects. Regarding the (Secret) Rapture, he argues that the book prepares believers to live through the Big Trouble (Tribulation), and adopts a pre-millennial position. Jesus promises to return to avenge the blood of the martyrs, while warning that backsliding believers will lose their place in the Book of Life and the New Jerusalem. Yet faithful overcomers will receive their inheritance. God is in control and Christians must ready themselves for Christ's return. Revelation's message is not just that “Jesus wins” but that he wants every believer to win” with him.

They explore why end-times thinking often stirs fear, urgency, and a longing for judgment, and how these beliefs have influenced modern Christianity. This conversation reframes eschatology through the lens of the gospel of the Kingdom, revealing how Jesus inaugurated His rule through His life, death, and resurrection. Rather than retreating and waiting for rescue, believers are called into active spiritual warfare, advancing truth, love, and reconciliation in a broken world. This episode isn't about predicting dates or timelines—it's a call to rediscover the mission Jesus entrusted to His people and to live faithfully between the “already” and the “not yet.”You can get access to this series and more for free by visiting studywithdudley.com.Get Dudley's Weekly Word delivered right to your inbox every Friday! Executive Pastor, Dr. Stephen Trammell, shares that the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30 reveals how believers can live meaningfully while anticipating Christ's return. God entrusts each person with resources according to their abilities, expecting faithful stewardship rather than fearful inaction. Two servants doubled their investments through wise action, while one buried his talent out of fear and misunderstanding of his master's character. Faithfulness requires both faith and action across all areas of life - finances, relationships, health, and spiritual growth. God will reward those who prove faithful during this time between Christ's first and second coming. Your belief determines where you spend eternity, but your behavior determines how you spend eternity.

Part 1 On the surface, Oneness Pentecostals have many similarities to mainstream Pentecostals, and that is what makes them so dangerous.  They affirm the deity of Jesus Christ, they believe in the continuing gifts of the Holy Spirit, they believe the Bible to be the inspired and infallible word of God, they believe in the literal Second Coming of Jesus Christ, they believe in the final judgment of the wicked and in a literal hell.  On the surface, one would not find a great deal of disagreement; YET four main fundamental beliefs set them apart from orthodox Biblical Christianity.  This first teaching part examines, by way of introduction, these four fundamental differences. “In one cataclysmic moment, millions around the globe disappear.” Jesus returned thirty years ago. Or rather, He sort of pre-returned, the warm-up act, if you will. Many faithful Christians believe in this kind of “rapture.” And in December 1995, two authors teamed up and used this idea to create the most successful biblical end-times thriller we've yet seen. In summer 2024 we overviewed the series. Yet now we'll ask how that first Left Behind novel has aged, thirty years after its release. In one cataclysmic moment, millions around the globe disappear. Vehicles, suddenly unmanned, careen out of control. People are terror stricken as loved ones vanish before their eyes. In the midst of global chaos, airline captain Rayford Steele must search for his family, for answers, for truth. As devastating as the disappearances have been, the darkest days may lie ahead. 1. Left Behind proclaims gospel truth* Let's start with the true. This book really wants to get you saved. It's a product of deep Biblical Christian desires to redeem souls. Two authors (largely) make this work: the nonfiction author Tim LaHaye (The Act of Marriage) plus fiction author Jerry B. Jenkins. Both men, however, are evangelicals who want the gospel spread. So the novel shares a goal with others thriller based on possible futures: to tell a plot-driven story yet also provoke reader action. At times the threat of sin does feel lesser than that of Antichrist. All biblical Christians agree to repent and receive Jesus as Savior. Yet not all biblical Christians agree with “pray the sinner's prayer.” And certainly only some Christians accept this end-times scenario. The late LaHaye, and Jenkins as well, would surely agree with this. Let readers, then, always discern what in the book is gospel truth and what are opinions (however deeply studied) about prophecy. 2. The story has unbelieving ‘good' heroes Left Behind is underrated for this—its protagonists are good guys. Buck Williams has high ethics in his newsmagazine journalism. Rayford Steele has been (until now) a loving husband and father. Chloe Steele is a young college student free of remarkable sin. And finally, Bruce Barnes is a decent pastor at his local church. And yet … all these men lack Jesus, and they're drifting into sin. The novel's opening spells out the lurking evil in one man's heart: “Rayford Steele's mind was on a woman he'd never touched.” It seems that Rayford's family-man decency only lasts so long. For the authors, then, the Rapture is as much a warning trumpet blast to his heart as it is a measure of mercy for existing Christians. Many fans reacted strongly to this theme. How could such good people, even a pastor at a church, be left out of any pre–Second Coming event? Weren't they by all accounts decent people? Conversely, lest any Christians suppose unbelievers are all wanton sinners, Jenkins answers that no, we can root for these people. Even without the label, Left Behind shows common grace in action. Common grace can make you decent, but only Jesus will save you. 3. Left Behind stays functional and practical This novel is written, by design, to be as widely read as possible. Jerry B. Jenkins has spoken on this as the authors’ express goal. This isn't literary fiction. Chapters are short. The style is simple. The original Left Behind is a rather thick book at 468 pages, but with large font face, wide margins, and lots of white space. All these invite as many readers as possible; this story is populist. Therefore, critics who fault the book for not meeting the goals they have migrated over from other books are revealing their ignorance or possibly elitism. Left Behind isn't trying to be a timeless classic. In fact, many of the original moments quickly felt very timebound. Characters use dial-up modems; cell phones show up sporadically. Later revised versions updated the technology. Yet as Jerry B. Jenkins told us in 2024, he's content to leave the series as it is. However, Left Behind also feels oddly distant from some moments. Rayford's finding of his vanished family is an emotional high point. Other scenes, like a car bombing, get summarized at a distance. This creates plot accessibility, but not so much character access. With some exceptions, then, Left Behind values truth (and its own strong opinions) and goodness in substance over beauty in style. Again, this was likely by intention on the creators’ part. Sometimes what the prosaic style sacrifices for speed still creates deep emotions because the momentum draws in more readers. Later volumes, like book 6, delved deeper into emotional journeys. You feel (even in passing) the weight of hero deaths and struggles. Ultimately, Left Behind offered a different kind of beauty—brisk and efficient pro writing, repetition, and popular accessibility, all of which set a course for this runaway successful late-1990s series. Jesus gave us 15 signs in Matthew 24 to indicate His return is approaching, but no one knows the exact timing except the Father. These signs, like birth pains, will increase in frequency and intensity. The key isn't knowing when He's coming, but being ready when He does. Jesus contrasts two types of servants: the faithful one who puts God first and serves others while waiting, and the careless one who becomes self-centered and destructive. True readiness means living with purposeful preparation, not fear, and being faithful in daily responsibilities while anticipating Christ's return with joy.

Part 3. This Is Your Life David Pawson regards the book of Revelation as “probably the most important book in the New Testament for the Church to be studying right now for the very practical purpose for which it was written”, namely, to be “a manual for martyrdom”.

In this message from Luke 17:20–37, we walk through Jesus' own words about the Kingdom of God, the Second Coming, and how believers should live in light of His return. We explore: • Why prophecy was given to comfort, not confuse • The danger of false messiahs and date-setters • The difference between Christ's first coming and His second coming • Why Jesus compares the last days to the days of Noah and Lot • What it means to not look back like Lot's wife • How believers should live with hope, holiness, and urgency This passage reminds us that Jesus is not returning quietly or secretly—His coming will be as obvious as lightning across the sky. The real question is not whether He is coming… it's are we ready? Sermon Date:1/11/2026 Speaker: Pastor Landon Churchill ComeToFreedom.com

Stories of encounters with the Three Nephites, immortal saint-like figures, dominate the folklore of the Latter-day Saint tradition. The authors of this volume use hundreds of legends collected by the renowned folklorist William A. Wilson from across a lifetime of research, study, and interviews to focus on the different themes exhibited by the Three Nephites and show that LDS culture, beliefs, and values are embodied by and through the Three Nephites. Each chapter focuses on a different theme from Three Nephites lore. “Vanishing Hitchhiker Nephites” addresses stories of the Nephites' travels. “The Worldwide End of the World” considers the Nephites as harbingers of the Second Coming. “Proclaiming-the-Gospel Stories” examines the interactions of the Three Nephites with missionaries. “Mix-ups, High Jinks, and Jokes” explores Nephite stories aimed at getting laughs. “That Your Joy Might Be Full” analyzes the types of service the Three Nephites render and reflects on the connection to the Church's injunction to serve others. A one-of-a-kind collection, The Three Nephites allows readers to see the extent that this supernatural legend has played in Latter-day Saint lore. Biblical prophecy reveals specific signs that indicate Christ's return is approaching, including widespread deception, wars, natural disasters, persecution of Christians, and the cooling of love among believers. Jesus described these signs as labor pains that intensify over time, culminating in a seven-year period called the Great Tribulation. The Antichrist will rise as a false peacemaker before demanding worship, and Christ will return visibly and victoriously. Israel's rebirth as a nation in 1948 represents a significant prophetic milestone. Rather than trying to predict dates, believers should focus on being ready for His return through salvation and faithful living.

November 12, 2025 - Wednesday PM Bible Class   This episode walks through the closing chapters of the Book of Philippians, part of Paul's prison epistles (Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Philemon). The host reviews Philippians 3–4, explains the letter's central theme that true Christian joy comes from Christ and the gospel — not from changing circumstances — and ties Paul's teaching to related passages (Galatians, 1 Thessalonians, 1 Corinthians, Proverbs, Matthew, John, and 2 Corinthians). Key topics include Paul's warning about Judaizing teachers who mix law and Gospel; the call to “press on” toward spiritual maturity; the contrast between earthly focus and heavenly citizenship; the hope and mechanics of the Second Coming and the resurrection body; and how these doctrines shape Christian joy and perseverance. The episode also unpacks practical counsel from Philippians 4: unity in the congregation (an appeal to Euodia and Syntyche), gentleness and reasonableness, and combatting anxiety by bringing requests to God with thanksgiving. The host highlights the promise that God's peace will guard hearts and minds and gives a concrete mental-health-style prescription: meditate on what is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. Paul's teaching on contentment is emphasized — learning to be content in every circumstance and relying on Christ's strength — with a brief look at the thorn-in-the-flesh passage in 2 Corinthians as context for perseverance. The episode includes reflections, Scripture cross-references, and interaction with listeners, and notes that Neal substituted last week and delivered a complementary sermon on anxiety and prayer. Listeners can expect theology tied to practical application: how to guard the heart, pursue unity, replace anxiety with prayer and thanksgiving, and cultivate joyful contentment grounded in Christ.   Duration 44:34
