And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write...
What does it look like for a church to be spiritually compromised, and how serious is the issue? As we’ll see this morning, Jesus’s letter to the church at Pergamum answers these questions and reveals how Christians are to respond when compromises with the world have taken root in the church.
The church in Pergamum had seen one of their brothers martyred. They stood their ground and held firm to the name of Jesus. But they had among them a faction that compromised with the Roman culture in a way that was ruining the testimony of the church. Find out how it applies to us today.

Pastor Jeff McVay, Seven Words to the Church Today, Faithful Witness, Revelation 2:12-17
Almost every month it’s reported that an individual is caught up in the undercurrent of an ocean. Unable to make their way back, they quickly drift further out to sea. Some are rescued by helping hands and sadly others never make it back to shore. This weekend Pastor Chad will teach from the Book of Revelation chapter 2:12-17 where Jesus addresses the church in Pergamos. This church was given a strong rebuke. They had allowed the distractions of the world to seep into the life and teachings of the church. They no longer upheld the standard of God and His Word. When looking at the 21st Century church today, there are many parallels. Some have given in to false idols, sexual perversion or become a stumbling block to younger generations. What must we do as a church to avoid being caught by the undercurrent of culture while still standing firm in the love and truth of Jesus Christ? Do you know someone that needs rescued? Invite them to watch this message.

Today we look at the letter Jesus wrote to the church at Pergamum through His apostle John. We find a church doing their best to remain true to God in a culture that tries to corrupt them at every turn. Satan attempted to kill the church by way of persecution and death. This only made the church stronger so he changed his tactics. Satan began to attack the church from within by influencing members in the church to allow evil and sin to exist unchecked in the church. He still does that today. Fight against the influence of Satan and this world to compromise on God’s word. Meet fear with faith and tolerance with repentance. Choose today which side you will be left standing on! Sermon Notes @ http://bible.com/events/47246559
