When ship's cook Giulia Baccosi accepts a last-minute job aboard sailing cargo ship The Avontuur, she's looking for more than a job. She's seeking adventure and community, too. She tells the captain that she'll stay with the ship until it reaches Mexico, in about three months' time. After saying goodbye to her partner, Giulia settles into life on board and the responsibilities of feeding the Avontuur's crew of fifteen. Academic Christiaan de Beukelaer joins the ship in Tenerife. The Avontuur begins the second leg of its journey, setting out from Tenerife to cross the Atlantic. At work in the galley preparing breakfast, ship's cook Giulia Baccosi learns that the night watch noticed an unusual little light, far off on the horizon. It's been there through the night. Recorded at North Village Church on July 27, 2025. A non-denominational church in Austin, TX.
Jesus is a better high priest than has ever existed. He stepped out of heaven and did all the work for us. He paid the price. Therefore, our hope is assured because of Him and not because of us. Trust in Him and give all that you can today to glorify Him. Hebrews 10:23-25 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.Following Jesus and enjoying life are not mutually exclusive. Let's connect to learn more about how that can look in your own life.Let's connect on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or LinkedIn!

Remember, Christ is our original confidence. We can fight unbelief by remembering WHO God is.
John 6:38-39 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. These two verses give us some very important, encouraging information by answering five questions. Where did Jesus come from? What did He come to do? What is the will of the Father for Jesus? What is the will of God for those given to Jesus? What hope do those who are given to Jesus have? Where did Jesus come from? He came down from heaven. He isn't from this world. He is separate from His creation and therefore isn't tainted and corrupted by this fallen world. What did Jesus come to do? He came to do the will of His Father, who sent Him. What is the will of the Father for Jesus? It is the Father's will that Jesus not lose anything or anyone the Father has given Him, and that He present all that He was given back to the Father in a redeemed state on the last day of the history of the world. And the last question: What hope do those have who are given to Jesus ? On the last day of the history of the world, they will be presented by Jesus to the Father, not in a fallen state, but raised up into a redeemed state. Look at the security we have in Christ! None will be lost. The life which Jesus gives is eternal life. Once it is given, it cannot be lost, otherwise it wouldn't be eternal life. These verses fortify Jesus' previous comments that all the Father gives to Him will come to Him, and He will not cast them out. He won't cast them out because they were given to Him by the Father for the purpose of raising them up, out of their fallen state. My, how we have been loved. We were loved before the foundation of the world and given to Jesus. Why do we believe? Why do we come to Christ and surrender our lives? Because we were given to Him by the Father, and it is the Father's will to save us in Christ. That's the love of God: the sustained direction of the will toward our highest good, no matter what the cost, for His glory. Our highest good is to be raised up for the glory of God. Our confidence is that God's will won't change, and Jesus is faithful over His house to do His will, whose house we are if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end (Heb. 2:6). It is out of this confidence and sealed in God's love that we live our lives with Jesus. He lives in us to raise us up. We are being raised up daily by the power of His love and presence into His image, filled with His life, and displaying His fruit—the same kind of love. So we have much to praise God for, as we are encouraged by John 6:38-39. We praise Him for His gracious will toward us, for sending His Son to raise us up, and let us boast of the hope we have in Him. May our praise and thanks be expressed as we love with Jesus today. I invite you to become a partner in our ministry. Would you pray about becoming a regular supporter of Elijah Ministries and the Live to Love with Jesus ministry? On today's show, we're looking at the spiritual fight that every believer—and especially every leader—must face. Ministry is a battlefield, and Scripture reminds us that not all who begin well finish well. From Eleazar in David's army to King Asa on the throne of Judah, the Bible gives us both inspiring and cautionary tales of men in combat—some who held fast to the sword and others who laid it down too soon. What makes a good soldier in the fight of faith? What does it mean to hold fast to the Word of God even when you're weary? And how do we make sure we finish our course, not just start it?To help us answer these questions, we're joined by Pastor Tony Godfrey of Harvest Baptist Church in Iola, Kansas—Tony is a discipler, Bible teacher, and no stranger to the battle of ministry. Tony, welcome to the Postscript.Notes for this Episodehttps://www.lfbi.org/learnmore

This powerful message on holding fast in a world of compromise explores the message Jesus gave to the church of Pergamos in Revelation. Discover how this ancient city—filled with pagan temples and Caesar worship—created intense spiritual pressure on believers, yet some remained faithful even unto death. Learn why Jesus described Pergamos as 'where Satan has his throne' and what that means for Christians living in spiritually hostile environments today. This message examines how compromise subtly enters through doctrine, culture, entertainment, and relationships, and provides biblical strategies to recognize and resist it. Understand the dangerous teachings Jesus identified—the doctrine of Balaam and the Nicolaitans—and their modern equivalents that threaten spiritual growth. The message unpacks Jesus' solution to compromise: genuine repentance that changes both thinking and direction. Explore the three remarkable promises Jesus offers to those who overcome: hidden manna, a white stone, and a new name. This teaching includes practical application questions to help identify areas of compromise in your own life and steps to align more fully with Christ. Perfect for Christians struggling with cultural pressure, those seeking spiritual revival, or anyone wanting to understand how to live with integrity in a compromising world.

Philippians 2: 1-16 Philippians is a letter about joy! Writing from prison, Paul describes the joys of following Christ and persevering for the gospel, and the secret to being content in any situation. We know from the letter that the Philippians were facing a lot of hardship (and Paul wasn't exactly living the high life himself). Paul is telling the Philippians to “hold fast and shine,” no matter how bleak and troubling things look!

Hi friends, Bralynn here! In this deep and joy-filled conversation with my dear friend Virginia Killingsworth, we covered so much ground—from divine downloads and spiritual blueprints to real-world tech struggles and how to steward God-given visions through mentorship, strategy, and community. We laughed, reminisced, and got very real about the challenges and rewards of stepping into something new.Virginia opened up about the spiritual initiation that launched her next phase, how God handed her a blueprint, and what it's really taken to bring that vision to life. We talked about the beautiful tension between deep spiritual formation and practical logistics, how groups can become containers for transformation, and why this online era is a lifeline for kingdom pioneers scattered across the globe.Whether you're building a mentoring group, pioneering new territory, or just trying to follow what God's put in your heart, this conversation will both inspire and equip you. Enjoy!BIO: For over 30 years, Virginia Killingsworth has ministered to children, teens, and families in residential settings and has pastored people in a vast array of situations. She accesses the wisdom of heaven to enable people to understand and cooperate with the Father throughout their unique spiritual maturation process. She is skilled at untangling even the most complex stronghold and releasing Holy Spirit's healing and freedom into the deep places of the soul. Her passion is to help people identify and walk in the fullness of their destinies and to live victoriously from heaven to earth.HIGHLIGHTS:Your blueprint comes with grace. When God gives you a vision, He also releases the grace to walk it out—but you have to partner with Him for learning and stewarding it according to His will. Spiritual maturity unlocks new levels of authority and responsibility.Spiritual downloads require natural action.Receiving a divine strategy isn't enough; implementation matters. That's where support, systems, and mentors come in.Spirit-led deconstruction is not destruction — it's transformation.Virginia talked about how God sometimes brings “total annihilation” — not to destroy us, but to prune, refine, and rebuild on a Kingdom blueprint. It's not always comfy, but it's deeply fruitful. We're in a cosmic shift — the old wineskin is being dismantled. This isn't just a personal journey. We're all living in a time where God is shaking up systems, structures, and spiritual norms. The old container can't hold what's coming — and that includes how we do groups, church, and business.Don't Abandon Connection—Redefine ItJust because the old church model is fading doesn't mean we're not meant to gather. We're wired for connection, so we need to ask: “What does the new thing look like, and how do we birth it?”Hold Fast to Eternal PrinciplesWe can't throw out the core truths—but we must let go of the forms they once took. Not everyone is in the same place spiritually—designing entry points into your community and setting expectations keeps the group strong.Ecclesia is not a hangout. It's not even a prayer and worship gathering. True ecclesia is governmental—it's about authority, alignment, getting Father's will for a situation and bringing heaven's justice into the earth. You need language alignment.A shared vocabulary builds unity. Courses or launch pads help bring group members to the same spiritual "page."Tech will make or break your group.Free tools often don't integrate well. Investing in good tech saves massive headaches later. It's okay to phase your business.Don't launch everything at once. Tier your offers and grow with grace—just like Virginia's 3-tier mentorship model.Mentorship requires flexibility and flow. It's not one-size-fits-all. Be prepared to adjust and pivot as your group's needs emerge.Kingdom communities must be cultivated. Many people don't have a church that speaks their language. Online mentoring groups fill that gap beautifully.Don't despise humble beginnings.Rocky starts, tech challenges, and clunky systems are part of the process—God still uses them.Teaching vs. facilitating is a balance.Mature groups don't always need constant teaching—they need space to practice governing, collaborate, and grow.God is in the structure, too.Strategy, systems, tech, and leadership all carry the anointing when they're aligned with His vision.LINKS for VIRGINIA:– Join Overshadowed: Virginia's group mentorship program—birthed by a divine blueprint and brought to life through practical support (shout-out to Bralynn!). Our generation, more than ever before, struggles to have any long term hope and vision of the future! The way ahead looks increasingly uncertain making the warning of Jesus about attitudes in the last days more and more evident, “Watch yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap … stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things …” [Luke 21 v.34-36]All 3 of our readings today contain lessons that are in some way relevant. Joshua (ch. 18) reprimands 7 of the 12 tribes for making no progress in settling in the land, “How long will you put off going in to take possession of the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you?” [v.3] How many are baptised (in a sense crossing the Jordan) but then make no real progress? The LORD gives Isaiah (ch. 24) an awesome word picture of his ultimate dismay, anger and actions toward a world that “lies defiled under its inhabitants' so that “a curse devours the earth, and its inhabitants suffer for their guilt” [v.5,6] This creates a time when “all joy has grown dark” [v.11] and “its transgression lies heavy upon it, and it falls, and will not rise again.”[v.20]And so “on that day the LORD will punish the host of heaven”[v.21], that is, all who have enjoyed prominence and did what the people wanted, leading them astray, morally and in every other way. All will be “ashamed, for the LORD of hosts reigns on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and his glory will be before his elders” [v.23] This time is beyond our imagining! How wonderful to be an elder! In Hebrews “the unchangeable character of his (God's) purpose” [6 v.17] is emphasized and Paul's “desire (that) each one of you … show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish …” [v.11] like the 7 tribes Joshua reprimanded; but instead have “full assurance.”.Let us more than ever desire to read and meditate on God's word to help us fully develop that “assurance” – only there will we find “strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us” [v.18]Hebrews ch. 7 stresses that Jesus is our High Priest and “he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.” [v.25] We all need the “intercession” of Jesus to help us to “hold fast” and increase our clear vision through constantly reading in the divine

"If" can be a very important word if someone thinks it means they can lose their salvation. That is how some might interpret 1 Corinthians 15:2 where the Apostle Paul says, "you are saved , if you hold fast to that word which I preached to you." The word that Paul preached is the gospel he reminds them of in verses 3-4. The readers had received the gospel and believed it, so there is no doubt they are saved (as many other passages in the epistle show). They were saved or delivered from hell. But what does Paul mean by using the present tense as if to say "you are being saved"? He is telling them that their steadfastness to the truths of the gospel will continue to deliver them from sin. That is why he reminds them about the death of Christ for our sins and His resurrectioin in verses 3-4. Those truths that were the foundation of our salvation are also the foundation of our Christian growth and sanctification, as also explained by our union with Christ in Romans 6:2-5. If they depart from these identification truths, then their salvation will be "in vain," or not reach its intended purpose of their sanctification. The gospel truths that saved us also sanctify us, or continue to save us. This episode is from GraceNotes no. 62.
