You are probably carrying something right now that you did not create, cannot control, and do not have the answer for — and it is still affecting your life. A diagnosis. A layoff. The stone cut without human hands starts small and fills the whole earth. History is not out of control. History is moving toward the reign of Jesus Christ. You can trust God in your present because He already stands in your future. Trust God enough to pray. Daniel's first response was not panic or strategy. He gathered his friends and asked God for mercy, prayed specifically, prayed desperately, and worshiped when the answer came. If you truly believe God has the answer, prayer will not be your last resort. It will be your first response. The statue starts enormous and ends as dust. The stone starts small and ends by filling the earth. Whatever is towering over you today, it is not the last thing standing.

The Christian life requires absolute trust in God. But when times get tough, and obstacles come our way, do we really put our trust in God, or in ourselves? In this episode of The Verdict Pastor John Munro explores this perplexing question as he continues a series called What Would You Ask God?

Pastor Matt Sturdevant and the pastoral staff of Hope Church continue their two-week series through the Book of Esther, using the Three C Podcast to go deeper than Sunday morning allowed. The big idea of the series is this: certainty is not knowing what will happen next — it is knowing who you can trust when you don't know what's coming. The team unpacks three anchoring truths: God is in control even when we are not, God is working even when we cannot see it, and God has a purpose even when we do not understand it. They also offer a crucial warning — the message of Esther is not that trusting God guarantees the outcome we want. The answer to an uncertain world is not a principle; it's a person — Jesus Christ. The podcast then goes several layers deeper into the historical and Biblical context of the story. Pastor Matt draws a fascinating line connecting Haman the Agagite back to Agag, the Amalekite king whom King Saul failed to destroy in 1 Sam. 15, and traces Mordecai's lineage back to the house of Kish in the tribe of Benjamin — the same lineage as Saul himself. This means the conflict between Mordecai and Haman is, in many ways, a generational rematch of Saul versus Agag. Even further, Haman's plot to annihilate every Jew across all 127 provinces is not merely a political threat — it is an assault on God's covenant promise to Abraham in Gen. 12 and Gen. 22, and ultimately an attempt to destroy the messianic line before the Messiah could come. The team then moves into application, wrestling with the tension between trusting God and falling into passivity. Using a framework of opportunity, obedience, and outcome, they make clear that God provides the opportunities and governs the outcomes, while human responsibility lives in the middle — faithful obedience. They walk through a sweeping list of things we can influence but cannot control: other people's decisions, our children's faith, our health, our reputations, and the growth of the church. The takeaway is both humbling and freeing — we are responsible for our response and our faithfulness, and we can trust God with everything else.

Sometimes God gives us an experience so powerful that it changes the way we see life, death, and eternity forever.In this deeply moving conversation on Road to Redemption, John Martin sits down with Bently Hornak to share her extraordinary testimony of surviving serious childhood heart complications, encountering what she describes as the presence of angels, and discovering a faith that has carried her through a lifetime of trials.Bently was born in 1969 with numerous congenital heart defects. Growing up in Southern California, she faced serious health challenges from the very beginning. At just three years old, she underwent her first open-heart surgery. Four years later, on her seventh birthday, she underwent another major heart operation.After the surgery, complications developed.As doctors rushed Bently back into the operating room because of bleeding, something happened that she has never forgotten.Bently describes opening her eyes and seeing what she understood to be the spiritual realm.She saw angels filling the room.She remembers experiencing overwhelming peace and realizing that the angels had not suddenly appeared because she was in danger—instead, she felt as though they had already been there and she was simply able to see them for the first time.Then, Bently recalls being lifted by the wing of an angel and beginning to leave the operating room.There was no fear.There was no pain.Instead, she experienced a profound sense of wholeness, joy, and the feeling that she was going home. She could see her physical body below and understood it as the broken earthly body she was leaving behind.But suddenly, everything changed.Bently describes feeling pulled back into her body and hearing the medical team announce that she was coming around.She woke up in the ICU looking for the angels.Years later, her parents revealed just how serious the situation had been. Doctors had prepared them for the possibility that their daughter was dying.For Bently, however, what happened that day never felt like a dream.She says the memory has never faded.That glimpse of eternity became an anchor throughout her life, helping her face additional surgeries, uncertainty, and difficult seasons with the assurance that this earthly life is not the end.As Bently grew older, she also had to learn how to understand what she had experienced.As a teenager, she sometimes took unnecessary physical risks because she associated danger with encountering the presence of angels again. Paul could have come to the Corinthian church with oratorical skill and philosophical wisdom, but he chose not to. Why?

When we experience intense pain and hardship, our view of God can shrink. When circumstances overwhelm us, prayers seem unanswered and our suffering endures for any length of time, we may fear God isn't actually big enough to handle what we’re facing, or loving enough to do something about it. Saul's on what begins as an ordinary search for his father's lost donkeys. Saul and his servant then travel from place to place without success until the servant suggests seeking Samuel; the man of God. What Saul does not know is that God has already told Samuel that Saul is coming. While Saul is looking for donkeys, God is directing every step toward a much greater appointment. Samuel tells him that the donkeys have already been found, and then reveals that Saul is the man Israel has been seeking. Saul sees himself as insignificant, coming from the smallest tribe and an unimportant family, yet God has chosen him for a new calling. God shows us that what looks like an unsuccessful search may actually be part of God's direction. He can take care of the concerns that brought us onto the road while simultaneously leading us toward His greater purpose. And when God calls us, He does not leave us without direction. Before Saul can step into what God has appointed for him, Samuel tells him to remain and hear the Word of God. You may think you are searching for one thing while God is preparing you for something entirely different. Trust God with the journey, the unanswered questions, and the calling ahead.
