This week, Pastor John launched our new sermon series Practicing with a message from Psalm 34 on the practice of praise. We learned that praise is often a choice before it becomes a feeling, as it redirects glory from ourselves back to God. As we recount God's faithfulness, praise invites us to step fully into who God is and all He has done.

1.4.26 | "The Curse Ends With Me" | Youth Pastor John Sferlazza by The Rock Church of Fort Myers
We studied the background and situation of Paul's second letter to Timothy. Then we learned about how to express love for other Christians from Paul's example in the first five verses of the letter.
In 2026, we're slowing down to soak in the story that invites us to believe. The Gospel of John doesn't just tell us what Jesus did—it reveals who He is. Through signs and stories, questions and conversations, light and life, John calls us again and again to “come and see.” Over the next year, we'll walk with Jesus from the opening words—“In the beginning”—to the empty tomb, discovering how encountering Christ shapes our faith, our hope, and our everyday lives. This is more than a study; it's an invitation to deeper belief and fuller life. Learn more with Pastor John. Also, we highly encourage you to download the Church Center App if you want more information about the church. In this week's POSC Podcast, Pastor Putnam launches a faith-stretching vision for 2026 with a clear and compelling mandate: Just Reach One—because one is worth it. Drawing from Luke 15 and other Gospel accounts, this message centers on the heart of Jesus for individuals, reminding us that crowds never distracted Him from the value of a single soul. With conviction and pastoral clarity, Pastor Putnam challenges the modern obsession with numbers, popularity, and platforms, emphasizing that Jesus was never impressed by crowds—He was moved by people. From the lost sheep in the wilderness, to the Samaritan woman at the well, to the demon-possessed man delivered after a stormy crossing, Scripture repeatedly reveals a Savior who stops, goes out of His way, and pays any cost to reach just one person. This episode calls the church beyond Sunday services and programs into lifestyle evangelism—a daily, personal obedience flowing out of a surrendered relationship with Jesus Christ. Evangelism, Pastor Putnam explains, is not a title, a microphone, or a method; its availability. While only God can save, heal, and transform, every believer has a responsibility to go, to love, and to reach. As heaven celebrates one repentant sinner, this message invites each listener to align their priorities with heaven's joy. Whether it's a neighbor, coworker, family member, or stranger, God is still asking His people to leave the 99 and pursue the one who matters deeply to Him. This sermon will stir your faith, challenge your comfort, and refocus your mission—because the world is reached one conversation, one prayer, and one act of obedience at a time. One is worth it. As the year closes, Jesus' parable of the barren fig tree reframes time as mercy: the owner's demand to cut it down makes sense in a world obsessed with speed, results, and replacing what disappoints, but the gardener pleads for one more year - not to excuse fruitlessness, but to do purposeful work in the soil, even the slow and unglamorous work of “manure.” The sermon confronts how instant-gratification habits (especially through technology) train us to treat people like devices - demanding quick performance and cutting them off when they don't deliver - while Jesus shows a different way: patient love that tends, digs, and invests. Yet that patience is not permission to remain unchanged; faith exists to bear fruit, and Jesus calls us to pursue both faithfulness and fruitfulness. The invitation is to step into the new year resisting quick judgment, trusting God's slow transforming grace, and choosing to live in the ways of the manure - because as long as the gardener is still tending the tree, hope remains.

Guest Speaker Pastor John Davis brings us a message about how our minds determine which spiritual law governs our lives. Every believer has three laws operating inside them: the law of sin and death in the flesh that resists God, the law of the spirit in the inner man that desires to obey God, and the law of the mind that decides which one wins. Until our minds shift from operating under the law of sin and death to the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus, our lives cannot break free from the patterns we hate, which is why we must identify the lies we've believed, replace them with God's truth, and surrender the life we think we're supposed to have so God can give us the life we were born for. In this week's POSC Podcast, Pastor Putnam delivers a powerful, end-of-year challenge built around a simple but life-changing command: Keep on serving. Rooted in the heartbeat of Apostolic Pentecostal faith—serve and save—this message reminds us that while only Jesus can save, God has chosen to work through people who are willing to serve. With passion and clarity, Pastor Putnam celebrates what God has done through faithful service in the local church and the community, while also calling every believer to move beyond comfort and convenience. Drawing from Scripture, including Jesus' example of washing the disciples' feet and Paul's exhortation in Romans 12, he makes it clear: serving is not optional for Christians—it is the pathway God uses to reach the lost. From well-known biblical figures to unnamed servants working quietly in the background, this message highlights how God consistently uses ordinary people with willing hearts. Service isn't about spotlight or status; it's about availability, humility, and obedience. When the church embraces this calling, joy increases, unity deepens, and salvation follows. As we close out the year and look ahead to what God wants to do next, this episode will stir your heart to action. If you've ever wondered how God can use you, this message will answer that question with conviction and hope. We Serve, He Saves. Returning to Luke 1, Pastor John focuses on Zechariah and Elizabeth. Old and advanced, they appear to have forgotten their prayers for a child. But God never forgets our past prayers. Zechariah knew God's word but struggled even when an angel gave him a promise from the Lord. We can be just like Zechariah but like him we are not forgotten. Instead, we need to learn to trust God and just take Him at His Word. After all, He is always faithful in word and deed.
Pastor John asked for people to share testimonies from the past year.
Have you ever stopped and asked yourself this question: Are the struggles in my life making me stronger—or are they making me a victim? Most of us don't mind the victory stories in the Bible. It's the training seasons we struggle with. Before David ever stood in front of Goliath, he stood alone in a field—watching sheep, fighting lions and bears, and learning how to trust God when no one else was watching. That wasn't wasted time. That was preparation. So let me ask you:

Have you ever felt beyond hope? In this weekend's message, Pastor John shared how, through the prophet Isaiah, God describes Himself as knowing exactly what it's like to wait with expectant hope -- and be disappointed. Even so, He didn't give up on Israel when they failed to trust Him, and He continues to give us hope in the "tension" we experience while waiting upon His promises in our own lives.
