When we think about reading Luke 2, our thoughts naturally turn to the story of Jesus' birth. But what follows is the account of a man named Simeon, a man who marveled at the sight of Jesus because he knew that at last, salvation had come. In this week's message, Pastor John takes us through Simeon's story, showing us what we all should marvel at: the wonder of Jesus.

Every year in the fall, Pastor John sits down and re-reads the Christmas accounts from Matthew and Luke, asking the Lord to show him something fresh. This year, he was struck by the difficult decisions that had to be made in order for the birth of Jesus to take place exactly the way it did. These were gut-wrenching and dangerous decisions. We have certainly faced gut-wrenching and dangerous decisions before, and there will be more of those types of decisions off and on the rest of our lives — not just once or twice but over and over. This week, we’re exploring some principles we can glean from these Christmas accounts to help us have courage as we face hard choices.
This week at Church at Viera, Pastor John launches our Christmas season with a powerful message from Isaiah 9—one of the most loved and hope-filled prophecies about the coming Messiah. From Christmas trees to Advent calendars, John begins by inviting us into the familiar traditions of the season before turning our attention to the deeper truth they point to: Advent is about the arrival of hope.In a world filled with uncertainty, anxiety, and darkness, much like the world Isaiah wrote to, God speaks a promise: Light is coming.Walking through Isaiah 9:2–7, John unpacks why Jesus is the only true and lasting hope we can build our lives on:✨ He is in control — the government rests on His shoulders✨ He is our Wonderful Counselor — wise, present, and trustworthy✨ He is our Mighty God — strong when we are weak✨ He is our Everlasting Father — loving, faithful, and full of compassion✨ He is the Prince of Peace — bringing peace that no circumstance can shakeWith stories, humor, and Scripture, this message invites us to remember what Advent is truly about and to anchor our hearts in the One who fulfills every promise.Join us as we begin Advent with a message of hope—Jesus, the Light who shines in the darkness.

Pastor John speaks today about a spiritual battle that is raging today. When we pray for someone's needs, we know either God is going to act miraculously right now or He, in His wisdom, will have us wait. Pastor John then reminds us the enemy listens to our prayers. And while he may act on them, Pastor John encourages us to understand that Satan cannot block our prayers. Instead the devil wants to wring every ounce of hope out of us. Pastor John reminds us of one thing, one word - endure and asks us if we can believe when we don't receive? Remember, “To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”
Have you ever felt like you're walking through life alone? In today's message, we look back to one of the most isolating moments in human history—when Noah and his family stepped off the Ark into a world emptied by the flood. No neighbors. No community. No familiar places. Just eight people… and the promises of God. Just like Noah, we all face seasons where life feels empty, unpredictable, or overwhelming. But God has given us promises—real, unshakable truths—to help us endure and overcome loneliness. In this sermon, we explore five of God's promises that still carry us today: A Promise of Predictability Seasons may change, but God gives us a stable world and a steady hope. Winter doesn't last forever—harvest is coming. The Blessing of Children & Community God designed us for relationships, for connection, and for belonging. You don't have to do life alone. The Blessing of Dominion From pets to purpose, God provides companionship and meaningful responsibility that enriches our lives. The Blessing to Uphold Justice God empowers us to stand up for what is right, protect one another, and build safe, healthy communities. The Promise of His Presence The greatest truth of all: You are never alone. God goes with you, leads you, comforts you, and walks beside you every step of the way. Whether you're grieving, adjusting to a new season, recovering from loss, or trying to build new relationships, this message will remind you that God has already made a way forward—and He never leaves His people behind.

Life Changing Gratitude - Thanksgiving Eve
Pastor John Randall will continue his series in Hebrews today. Have you ever wondered why all of the sacrifices in the Old Testament? They really couldn't accomplish forgiveness for a sinner once and for all. But they pointed to the one who can… Jesus Christ! Pastor John is about to point to the superiority of the sacrifice of Jesus through this important study in Hebrews chapters nine and ten. And by the end of our time together I think you'll see we have good reason to give thanks to God, this day, and every day! This week, Pastor John led us in our annual Cross of Christ service with a message from 1 Corinthians 11:23–26. As we take the bread and the cup, we boldly declare that we are not ruled by sin, not hopeless in life, and not finished in death. In Christ, our sins are forgiven, our lives belong to Him, our hope is secure, and our King is returning.
If God refuses to act “for our sake,” does that mean he refuses to do us good? Pastor John resolves a perplexity and holds forth lavish grace from Ezekiel 36.
