We are traveling back in time this week.. a whole 14 months! 2016 gifted us with some of the most amazing games we've ever seen, and we're here in the future to review some of their expansions. For any expansion, gamers want to know if it adds new, essential gameplay or just more stuff. We have answers for you! Anthony leads us off to talk about Scythe: The Wind Gambit (2:34) with comes with Airships and also different end game conditions. Next, Jason bumbles his way through his impressions of Star Wars Rebellion: Rise of the Empire (11:20), a review through which Star Wars lover Anthony could barely contain his rage. Finally, Anthony gathers himself to talk about Terraforming Mars: Venus Next (23:05). Finally, we debut a new segment which we call Improve Your Play, where we break down the basic strategy for a hot solo game and help you win consistently. Building on our reviews for this week, we give you our strategy tips for Terraforming Mars (30:58). If you were struggling to fill those three Terraforming tracks in solo mode, this is the segment for you!
Mark and Walker switch roles this week in a stunning reversal. Walker avoids telling Mark to "get good," but it's a close thing only narrowly avoided. In Walker's defense, Mark really should git gud--as has been noted by many a scholar and physician. They discuss the redevelopment of Terra Mystica called Gaia Project, and then they generalize to how publishers sometimes mess up new editions of their games. Mark's sanity is questioned throughout; probably a sound policy.Games Played Last Week:-Stone Age 1m17s (Bernd Brunnhofer, Hans im Gluck, 2008)-Corporate America 3m44s (Teale Fristoe, Nothing Sacred Games, 2013)-Scythe: The Wind Gambit 8m12s (Kai Starck & Jamey Stegmaier, Stonemaier Games, 2017)-Mythic Battles: Pantheon 9m55s (Eric Bourlett & Benoit Vogt, Monolith, 2017) -Galaxy Trucker 14m26s (Vlaada Chvatil, Czech Games Edition, 2007)News (and why it doesn't matter):-Asmodee Buys Something 18m01s-ShipNaked and Dan Yarrington's Run-in with Phil Eklund 18m20sFeature Game: Gaia Project 22m06s (Jens Drögemüller & Helge Ostertag, Feuerland Spiele, 2017) Topic: Reskins & Second Editions 45m40s
