Featuring: Ashgar, Belghast, Grace, Kodra, Tamrielo, and Thalen Hey Folks! This week we are taking a break from the Dawntrail topic because Ammo was not available. As a result we dive into a normal topic load starting with Grace talking about their experience playing Diablo IV Season 5. From there we dive into a mega topic of Kodra and his recent trip to GenCon. He talks about True Dungeon, Various Assorted LARPs, and some of the cool stuff from the convention floor. We also dive into a discussion about how a convention reforms its reputation as being the D&D convention into something more open and welcoming. From there we realize that the Age of Sigmar topic is going to get bumped again… but end up also having a bit of a pre-discussion. Finally, we wrap things up with the charming indie game Thank Goodness You're Here. Topics Discussed: Diablo IV Season 5 Season of Infernal Hordes Adventures in Gencon True Dungeon Various LARPs How does a convention reform its reputation? Age of Sigmar Pre-Discussion The topic that keeps getting bumped Thank Goodness You're Here

In this episode, the guys share their experiences at BriceCon 2, Dragonfall, and Gamehole Con. With lots of games played and quite a bit of hobby accomplished, they provide their updates. Troy talks about the state of competitive 40k after his battles at Dragonfall as well. It isn't all sunshine, though, as Ty shares a cautionary tale of his True Dungeon experience at Gamehole, and this prompts some healthy debate between him and Josh. Escape RoomWelcome to The Guys Review, where we review media, products and experiences. **READ APPLE REVIEWS/Fan Mail**Mention Twitter DM group - like pinned tweetRead emails!-As of 4:45 we have 4,994 total downloads... Incentavise them to follow?-Instagram, we've got 78 followers. Escape Room According to wikipedia: An escape room, also known as an escape game or exit game, is a game in which a team of players discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks in one or more rooms in order to accomplish a specific goal in a limited amount of time. Bufflo Bill was a BIG fan of escape rooms... I'd Fuck me. In spite of the name, escaping a room may not be the main goal for the players, nor is the game necessarily confined to a single room. Early escape rooms drew insperation from haunted houses, scavenger hunts, and interactive theater, such as Sleep No More, which was debuted in New York in 2003. An additional inspiration for escape rooms came from the "escape the room" genre of video games that challenged players to locate clues and objects while within a single room. The earliest concept to resemble a modern escape room was True Dungeon, which premiered at GenCon Indy in Indianapolis, in July 2003 The first known fatal accident to occur in an escape room was the death of five 15-year-old girls in a fire in Poland, on January, 4, 2019. According to the state firefighting service, the chief failure that led to the deaths was the lack of an effective evacuation route... In an escape room... Shortly after the accident, authorities ordered safety checks in escape rooms across Poland and 13 more such establishments were shut down for safety flaws as a result. So, I guess you could say there was no escaping those rooms... Industry: As of November 2019, there were estimated to be over 50,000 escape rooms worldwide. The UK has seen the market grow by over the past 5 years by 93%, 148%, 409% and 43%. According to Room Escape Artist . com (https://roomescapeartist.com/2020/08/24/escape-room-industry-report-2020/) As of February 2021, there are 2,080 escape room facilities in the United States. In comparison, in August 2020, there were 2,250 escape room facilities in the United States. In the past 6 months, we've experienced a 7.5% decrease in the number of facilities. In 2017, the average escape room business saw $256,860 in booking revenue, representing a 11.45% YoY (Year over Year) increase.US escape room industry is expected to hit $465.5 million over the five years from 2020 to 2025. Larry comes back to tell Rich and me all about True Dungeon tokens! These tokens are critical to the success of any True Dungeon adventure. There are so many tips Larry shares with us: Buying, trading, selling tokens. Most common types like trade tokens, reserve, monster bits, transmuted, legendaries and artifacts! and of course tips on how to transport these very expensive and valuable items. We also discuss some True Dungeon news and correct some errors from our first episode about True Dungeon. If you're new to TD, listen to our 3rd episode. We welcome Heather back to talk about how our GenCon event registration went (spoilers, it went crazy well!) and to answer all of the questions she had about the convention as this will be her first time attending GenCon. Heather is a seasoned convention attendee and helped me run events at some very large conventions in the past. Her questions are mostly centered around GenCon itself, and less about conventions in general. Places to find us: Facebook @ High Shelf Gaming Podcast Twitter @highshelfgaming Friday Night Twitch /highshelfgaming Discord Chat https://discord.gg/tMPCXgN Gencon alternate event list: http://gencon.highprogrammer.com/ Q - packet Will Call or mail it to you?A - Really depends on your logistics. If you're arriving off normal hours or on Wednesday, will call is great. Since tickets get sold out now the volunteers that used to manage ticket sales are now helping with Will Call. Thursday during the day will be a longer line, Saturday even worse. Will Call is open 24 hours so try to pick up your packet during off hours the night before you start your con events. Q - What's it like getting around downtown? lots of walking?A - City bus from the airport to Downtown, then walking a ton. going from one end to the other may take 20 minutes so pad in some travel time between events. Lyft and Gen-Con promotional pricing this year to help get around town. If you're driving in and need to park, GenCon's event registration will sell you parking passes. Q - How early do should someone arrive to an event? A - True Dungeon just a bit before the time prior to the event. rules are if you're a few minutes late they'll drop Q - Dealer's room when to buy and logisticsA - post office nearby to ship by Saturday. Kinkos inside the convention center for Sunday shipping. Sunday is a good day to try for a couple deals, but popular stuff is going to be sold out long before that so think about which items you want to make sure to purchase on Thursday
Yeah...Someone gave Andy absinthe before the show. It kinda explains everything. We also talk about Altered Carbon, New-manji, Cloverfield Paradox, True Dungeon, True Stories, Crazy Mary, Black Panther, circling the Lionsgate, Shazam!, Demimonde, The Mario Movie, Square Enix, Potter sells some books, Bendis at DC, Snowpiercer, Monsters, Critters, Shining Vale, Conan and a bit of Red Light/Green Light. So hold on to your liquor, it's time for a Geek Shock.

We only tackle two subjects in our most recent Ka-Pow: The Pop Cultured Podcast offering, but they are both doozies. First, we debate the love-it or hate-it summer blockbuster "Suicide Squad," and then finish off with a report from Seth's adventures at Gen Con, the yearly gamer's paradise. Agree or disagree with our take on the film? Let us know in the comments below, puddin'!Length - 01:06:47Language - PG-13. (Contains some adult language.)-0:02:55 - MOVIE REVIEWThe majority of this episode is spent with an in-depth, spoiler-filled review of the DC film "Suicide Squad." We discuss and dissect the plot, all the characters, the creators, the costumes and everything else that went into adapting this story from the comic page to the big screen. There is a lot to love - and also plenty to hate - about this controversial blockbuster and unlike Harley Quinn's shorts, we cover it ALL.-0:48:02 - GAMINGThen, Seth catches us up on his recent trip to Gen Con in Indianapolis, Indiana, the longest-running, most attended gaming convention in the world. We get a brief rundown on what the show is like and the impressive venue that houses it, then hear about all the fun he had participating in a True Dungeon event, sitting in on game demos and buying armloads of brand new releases during what can only be described as "Gamer Christmas."

In this, our first ever MEGA-EPISODE, we get to sit down with senior members of TrueDungeon staff: Jeff Chandler, David Radtke, and Jean Monfort. They where kind enough to talk to us both before and after we had a chance to run through the dungeons for the first time.
Episode 4 features an interview with undead Lich enchantress, Heidi Lawler, who is also a third-year volunteer with True Dungeon. I discuss all the details of the Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game, complete with geeky Star Wars sound effects, a 1970's Kenner toy commercial and a reveal of my favorite Underoos. We head to the Pacific ocean in search of carriers to sink in Warfare with Jeff. (Dear grongnards, it's Flat Top!) Our resident bartender tells us you don't need $1,000 to be drinking what they're drinking at the Kentucky Derby, unless you absolutely must have a silver straw in your mouth. We continue our series on painting up your miniatures with an easy, do-it-yourself technique to keep that paint flowing. And finally, a dice game review in 30 seconds, because 15-minute reviews are so 2011. Let's begin now, shall we?
