So far the US negotiating team has focused like a laser on the 11 bombs worth of Uranium buried by American munitions in Iran - and for good reason. But did you know, Iran also has access to another site with enough plutonium to make 200 bombs that is largely being overlooked?    Obama's nuclear deal left a huge backdoor wide open for Iran, and as this current war continues to develop,  the threat it poses is increasingly becoming harder to ignore. Ben Hilton breaks it down for you.  Sign up for The Israel Guys Show Notes: https://theisraelguys.com/subscribe/ Follow The Israel Guys on X: https://x.com/theisraelguys Join our Telegram channel: https://t.me/theisraelguys #israel #iran #iranwar #israelnews #trump #Hamas #Hezbollah

A deal to end the U.S.-Iran war is constantly talked up, but has yet to materialize. Meanwhile, market reaction doesn't seem to match “the biggest physical energy disruption in history”, as Helima Croft, Global Head of Commodity Strategy, describes it. At RBC's Global Energy, Power and Infrastructure Conference, Helima considers the prospects for a deal and what it would take to restore global oil flows once the Strait of Hormuz reopens.Key Points• Strong inventories and stockpile releases have so far contained oil prices despite the ongoing Iran conflict.• The market continues to respond to repeated signals of an imminent end to the war.• Restoring normal levels of oil flow after the Strait of Hormuz is reopened may take months.• Issues over Iran's nuclear program and sanctions relief will be obstacles to a lasting deal.Introductions [00:05]John Soughan, Assistant Vice President of Global Commodity Strategy and MENA Research, introduces Helima Croft, Global Head of Commodity Strategy, in a session at RBC's Energy, Power, and Infrastructure Conference.Stockpiles limit disruption impact [00:25]The U.S.-Iran war has created history's biggest physical energy supply disruption. So far, robust inventories and stockpile releases have provided a buffer, but shortages will become more evident in coming weeks.Peace agreement fails to emerge [03:41]The White House has repeatedly suggested a resolution is imminent. Each time the market responds with a sell-off. But a deal has yet to materialize. The IRGC controls shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and is not anxious to reach an agreement.Nuclear issues will impede deal [05:56]Nuclear capabilities and sanctions relief will be obstacles to any lasting deal. Even when the Strait of Hormuz is reopened, oil flows will be significantly lower than before the war began, because shippers and insurers will be reluctant to use it.Oil flows will take months to restore [09:41]The CEO of ADNOC has indicated it would take four months after reopening to return to 80% of pre-war oil flows.

Livestock farmers across South Africa remain desperate for the Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak to be contained. In his latest interview with Chris Steyn, Andrew Morphew, the spokesperson for FMD Response SA, says: “The Industry Coordinating Council says that 1,3 million doses have been distributed to the province (KZN), whereas just over 600 000 doses have been administered. So there are a lot of vaccines which are sitting in fridges.” As for the whole country, Morphew says while there is a reported 13,5 million doses in the country currently, the Portfolio Committee has reported 3,8 million doses administered. “So there's a massive discrepancy…The department is obviously sitting on a very large stockpile of vaccines now. Make some of that available to the private sector so that people that want to vaccinate their animals can. Let us use the route that has been given to us by the court in order to get those vaccines into animals as fast as we possibly can.” Morphew reiterated that over 90% of commercial beef farmers in KZN had not had access to State vaccines, but “they say they've started vaccinating beef herds now”. Agriculture Minister John Steenhuisen will give his update at a Press briefing today.

Buried underground in caverns dug out of salt on the Gulf coast of the US are millions of barrels worth of crude oil. This is the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, built up in the late 1970s.Globally, at the end of 2025, global strategic oil stockpiles were estimated at 2.5 billion barrels, with China holding the most. With the Strait of Hormuz now closed for more than two months, global oil supplies are being squeezed. In March, as part of a co-ordinated move by members of the International Energy Agency to release 400 million barrels of oil to prevent price spikes, the US began releasing 172 million barrels from its strategic reserves. In this episode, we speak to Scott Montgomery, a former petroleum geologist who lectures in international studies at the University of Washington, about why these oil stockpiles were built up in the first place, and how they work. This episode was written and produced by Gemma Ware and Katie Flood with production assistance from Katie Flood. Hour 3: Middle East Extortion, Military Shortages, and Global CrackdownsThe third hour of The Tara Show on Friday, May 22, 2026, exposed a series of escalating global and domestic crises, spanning maritime extortion, a depleted military arsenal, and controversial data rollbacks.9th: Iran's Strait of Hormuz Toll System: The hour kicked off with an emergency deep dive into Iran's sudden, aggressive creation of a "Strait Authority." The regime began demanding illegal transit fees ranging from $150,000 to $2 million per vessel [ay2tF62fvLE]. This extortion maneuver effectively violated territorial waters [ay2tF62fvLE], triggered warnings that commercial ships paying the toll would violate U.S. sanctions [p2vzwC1kkAo], and left the fragile weekend peace deal on life support.10th: America's Depleted Munitions Arsenal: The show analyzed a terrifying logistical crisis within the Pentagon. Analysts warned that high-intensity naval warfare in the Persian Gulf has rapidly exhausted U.S. stockpiles of Tomahawk missiles and air-defense interceptors, revealing that a severely weakened defense industrial base is unable to replenish the arsenal fast enough to sustain a protracted war.11th: UK Abandoned & Nick Shirley Prosecuted: Shifting to European turmoil, the segment discussed how the UK has increasingly been left to fend for itself against Russian aggression due to shifting NATO dynamics. Concurrently, the host reacted to the shocking political prosecution of independent UK journalist Nick Shirley, framing it as a direct assault on free speech and independent war reporting.12th: The Red State SNAP Data Showdown: Closing out the hour, the broadcast highlighted a highly partisan domestic battle over government assistance. Wrecker detailed how only conservative, red-state governors complied with federal demands to turn over state SNAP (food stamp) rolls, sparking a fierce debate over executive overreach, citizen privacy, and the weaponization of welfare data.

Based on the discussions from the Londinium debating society in 92 AD, experts project that the Earth will reach a tipping point for oil reserves by the end of May 2026. At this point, strategic stockpiles are expected to run out, leading to a potential crash of the global network where gasoline and diesel may become unavailable at any price. Petroleum storage has already declined by approximately 25%, causing gasoline prices to rise by 15-20% in just a few days. Analysts from Bloomberg and JP Morgan speculate that oil prices could reach between $200 and $370 per barrel, leading to a "demand crush" and a total economic crash. While the U.S. has attempted to blockade Iranian oil, it has continued to allow tankers to reach China to avoid a diplomatic failure before an upcoming summit. However, these secondary sanctions are "starving" Europe of petroleum products while China continues to receive natural gas and oil through alternative means like Russian pipelines. 1/31900 BAKU RUSSIAN EMPIRE

These events have caused a major disruption in the global supply of oil and gas. China, as the world's largest energy importer, is exposed to these disruptions, but its long-term energy security strategy has left it better prepared than most.  How has China approached energy security, and how might the current conflict reshape this strategy? Today's top stories, with context, in just 15 minutes. On today's podcast: 1) The International Energy Agency is proposing a release of emergency oil reserves, according to a person with knowledge of the matter, as governments seek to contain a spike in energy prices driven by the Middle East war. It was not immediately clear whether the IEA proposal was formal and included specific amounts for member nations. While countries have so far agreed in principle to inject more oil into the market if needed, it is not evident that all believe that the situation is yet urgent enough to make that move. The person, who asked not to be named because discussions are not public, did not provide a figure. The Group of Seven nations said on Wednesday that they supported, in principle, “proactive measures” including the release of strategic reserves, though they did not provide details on the scale of a potential intervention. 2) Energy markets whipsawed for a second consecutive day as investors raced to interpret rapidly shifting comments from the Trump administration over the war in Iran. Oil prices plummeted after Energy Secretary Chris Wright erroneously posted — and then deleted — a message that the US Navy had escorted an oil tanker through the Strait of Hormuz. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt subsequently conceded no such operation had occurred, while adding the US military was “drawing up additional options” to address any attempt by Iran to constrain trade through the vital artery. Later Tuesday, President Trump posted his own flurry of messages on social media. First, he insisted the US had “no reports” of mines being placed, but then urged Iranian forces to remove any explosives they may have laid. 3) Oracle Corp. shares gained in extended trading after the company posted strong results and gave an outlook that suggested there is little letup in demand for AI computing. Revenue in Oracle’s closely watched infrastructure business increased 84% to $4.9 billion in the period ended Feb. 28, the company said Tuesday in a statement. That marked a faster jump than the 79% anticipated by analysts and a 68% sales rise in the previous quarter. The company is working to deliver on massive cloud infrastructure contracts with customers like OpenAI and Meta Platforms Inc. Known for its namesake database software, Oracle has found success with its cloud business by providing chip-filled data centers and other equipment for training and deploying AI models.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today's episode is the third in a series of three that examine the potential consequences for China if a military operation against Taiwan were to fail. In each of these episodes, we're speaking with authors of a recently published German Marshall Fund study of the possible costs that China would incur across four different, but interrelated areas: the Chinese economy, the military, Chinese social stability, and international costs. The report is titled, “If China Attacks Taiwan” and it is posted on GMFUS.org.  Our podcast today focuses on the potential costs for the Chinese economy. To recap, the study considered two scenarios that could take place in the next five years. In the first scenario, a minor skirmish escalates into a multi-week maritime blockade of Taiwan by China. Although several dozen members of the Chinese and Taiwanese military are killed, U.S. intervention eventually forces China to de-escalate.  In the second scenario, a conflict escalates into a full-fledged invasion, with Chinese strikes on not only Taiwan but also U.S. forces in Japan and Guam. After several months of heavy fighting, Chinese forces are degraded and eventually withdraw after suffering many tens of thousands of casualties. Our guests today are Charlie Vest and Logan Wright, who co-authored the chapter on the implications for the Chinese economy of a failed operation against Taiwan. Logan is a partner at Rhodium Group and leads the firm's work on China's economy and its global impact. Charlie is an associate director at Rhodium Group, where he manages corporate research and advisory work on China.Timestamps:[00:00] Introduction[02:34] Key Takeaways: China's Ambitions vs. Economic Realities [05:41] The Escalation Dilemma in China's Decisionmaking[09:56] Immediate Disruptions to Trade and FDI[13:52] Gray-Zone Military Engagement and Political Pressures[16:48] Could Beijing Underestimate the Costs of US Intervention? [24:12] Policy Tools and Limitations for Economic Stabilization and Recovery[27:19] Long-Term Economic Effects[29:24] Impact of Social Instability
