327 – What are you most hungry and thirsty for? What do you want more than anything else in the world? To be successful, to have a great job and make lots of money, to have a loving family and good friends? Do you want to have a lot of power and influence? Do you want to make a difference in the world and help people who are less fortunate than you?Maybe a better question is: What does God want you to do more than anything else? You may already have an answer for that and be working in that direction. But lots of folks these days are preoccupied with trying to get what they want and do what they want, without really thinking about what God wants them to do with their lives. Then there are those folks who have all the outward signs of success but there's still a hunger for something more meaningful, something more substantial. It's a hunger that can only be satisfied by things of the Spirit. In this episode, we're going to talk about What it means to be hungry for spiritualityHow this kind of hunger can be satisfiedThe blessing that comes as a resultWhat happens when you experience and are filled with the righteousness of God? You can't keep it to yourself. You will be blessed and your light will shine and become a blessing to everyone you come in contact with. ∞∞∞∞∞∞Show notes: For a full transcript of this episode and all Bible verses mentioned, go to thebiblespeakstoyou.com/327.Text me your questions or comments.Support the showIf you enjoy the podcast, please rate and leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify__________________James Early, the Jesus Mindset Coach, is a Bible teacher, speaker, and podcaster. In this lively, laughter-filled episode, Janina chats with Tom Gilbey - the man who made wine fun again by tasting a different bottle at every mile of a marathon. They dive into everything from the fossil-rich soils of Chablis and the changing world of en primeur Bordeaux, to how to host your own playful blind tastings at home. Along the way, Tom shares tips for making wine approachable (and hilarious), highlights his favorite Bordeaux wines and “Super Seconds,” and reminds us that enjoying a bottle should be full of joy, stories, and a little mischief. Shownotes [01:42] Wine fact of the episode — the history behind the 1855 Bordeaux Classification and how it still shapes prestige and pricing today. [05:05] Tom shares how his viral “Wine Marathon” began: tasting a different wine every mile, his son's support, and the unexpected global response that followed. [08:36] From chaos to community - how a family experiment turned into a worldwide audience and new passion for wine communication. [11:17] The art of blind tasting - from marathon guesses to what he learned about focus, humility, and having fun with wine. [13:03] Janina and Tom discuss Thirsty and how his stories highlight the humour, generosity, and humanity of the wine trade. [15:33] Why blind tasting should be playful - ideas for home tastings, favourite tricky grapes like Nerello Mascalese and Baga, and the concept of “Wine Sports Day.” [21:30] Turning to Bordeaux — Tom's reflections on 2005 vintages, learning from Robert Parker, and how palate trends shaped global styles. [25:23] Bordeaux today: en primeur uncertainty, Château Latour's exit from the system, and why Tom says wine should be enjoyed, not invested in. [28:27] Blind tasting first growths versus super seconds - and how labels, price, and reputation influence what we think we taste. [31:03] Highlights on Château Montrose, Léoville Las Cases, and La Mission Haut-Brion - some of the ‘Super-Seconds'. [33:41] From Bordeaux to Burgundy - discussing Chablis, its fossils, minerality, and that unforgettable sense of “tasting the sea.” [37:37] Janina and Tom reflect on how palates evolve - from bold New World wines to subtle Old World elegance. [40:12] Beaujolais Nouveau nostalgia — London's 1980s celebrations, and Tom's upcoming Beaujolais Party at Sophie's in Piccadilly. [44:13] Tom's early years: studying at Plumpton College, researching English wine in the '90s, and predicting the rise of world-class English sparkling. [47:15] Wrapping up with Battle of the Grapes: Tom picks his favourite grape varieties

That rumbling in your stomach? That's actually pretty handy. So is that parched tongue. Hunger and thirst are actually useful. And so is our hunger and thirst for God's righteousness. They're the rumbling and groaning acknowledgement that apart from God's righteousness you and I would perish. They lead us to look to God for rescue. And God doesn't disappoint.

Rebecca Weiss sits down with James Aladiran, founder of Prayer Storm in the U.K., to unpack what it really means to live on fire for God—and how easily that fire can fade if we're not intentional. James shares his incredible encounter with the Holy Spirit that completely transformed his personality, calling, and purpose. From a shy missionary kid who wanted nothing to do with public speaking to a bold voice calling a generation to prayer, his story reveals what happens when you say, “God, I don't want to leave the same.” James also exposes why so many believers lose their passion after spiritual highs—moving from conference to conference without building a private altar of prayer. Data centers, AI, and local energy and water systems are colliding — and communities are feeling the strain. In this episode, we break down how data centers drive local jobs and growth but also demand massive electricity and millions of gallons of cooling water. We dig into real-world impacts (with Memphis as a case study), the strain on local grids, and the tradeoffs between diesel, natural gas, and renewable power. You will learn about closed-loop cooling, reclaimed-water and air-cooling options, and why narrow, task-focused AI could cut future energy use. We also discuss the economic risks when data-center buildouts outpace real demand and what municipalities should demand from operators — from rate guarantees to public environmental review.

Dr. JB Hixson SORRY, NO VIDEO VERSION TODAY! Mary welcomes back JB Hixson today to help us all turn down the volume on our lives. We are inordinately busy - and not just that, we are tuning in the world more and more and tuning out that still small voice, the one thing that can give us strength and comfort. Sometimes we don't even know how unbalanced our lives are until we tune it all out and spend time with Jesus. God knows what we need, in every generation. The world is so chaotic, and adding to the geopolitical insanity, there are countless voices and opinions presenting other ways to view everything. Exhausted yet? Maybe you are but don't realize it. JB and Mary look at David the sweet Psalmist, and his declaration that what we really need is to draw near to Jesus - and drink of the living water He offers. David, and that deer, panted for the water during the most difficult times, and so should we - whether we are on the run from enemies, navigating apostasy in the church, watching the news about man's inhumanity to man - all these things sap our strength. He is our peace, and He knows what will make for our peace: whatsoever is true, lovely, and praiseworthy. Let's unplug and satisy that thirst. Have a long drink of cool water.
For Liberta's 65th release, I return with a 4-track EP that continues to blend personal roots with club-focused energy. Samba Part II picks up where its predecessor left off, channelling the vibrant rhythms and carnival spirit of Rio de Janeiro into a fresh new form. Mosquitoes brings hypnotic tension with sharp percussion and rolling grooves, while Silk Road dives into a trippy atmosphere driven by acid-infused synth lines. Closing the EP, Thirsty Trap works as a relentless roller, built around classic loopy stabs that keep the energy locked in motion. Together, the four tracks showcase different shades of my productions, tied by a focus on movement, intensity, and dancefloor connection.

Stressed out? Try drinking a glass of water. Dehydration can mimic the symptoms of anxiety. Being properly hydrated is good for your energy, fitness and skin. It's just as important for your stress levels. A recent article in Women's Health broke down a study on the effects of being under-hydrated on anxiety and future health. Abigail Cuffey is the executive editor of Women's Health. "The researchers ultimately found that those who were drinking lower levels of fluids, lower levels of water — they had a bigger reaction to stress, and they put them through various stress tests. And those who were less hydrated had a bigger reaction, had a more powerful reaction to stress," Cuffey said. We've always known proper hydration is key for good energy, fitness and skin. Now we know it can impact mood. Think of your water bottle as another tool, like meditation, to control stress. "Now, is it going to magically take away all of your problems? I wish it could remove all the stress. But it really can help, and these really simple, easy things that we do also just make us feel like we're in control," Cuffey said. On this Dying to Ask: The link between being properly hydrated and stress levels Why dehydration mimics anxiety A simple way to know if you're drinking enough water How dehydration impacts your future health How much water should we drink daily?

How do you respond to being thirsty? It's one thing to be "hangry"- angry over not eating- we saw that last week in Exodus 16. And we did see thirst already in Exodus 15. The people grumbled in both cases. Now thirst comes back and the people not only grumble, but they take it up a notch and quarrel with Moses. This story is really about what happens when we suffer trials- when God tests us. Come this week to see how the Israelites respond and how it relates to us today. Exodus 17:1-7.

This week on the podcast, Joanne discusses the importance of watering your trees and evergreens throughout October and November. Topics discussed: This summer was the driest summer on record, with only 96 millimetres of rain Although 2024 had more rain, half of it came in a single storm: our rainfall patterns are inconsistent and insufficient By late July or early August, many people give up on watering their gardens and lawns due to the dry conditions Water trees, especially a the drip line rather than just the trunk, once or twice a week until the ground freezes Consider using tree bags for young trees to provide slow, consistent watering Provide winter protection for Japanese maples by staking and wrapping with burlap Pool owners, pay special attention to the trees surrounding your pool, as there is generally not a lot of space between the pool patio and the garden, and the trees take a lot of abuse While many people may not consider it their responsibility to water city trees, doing so benefits the entire community How to water trees effectively, including targeting the drip line and using tree bags for young trees Evergreens and ornamental trees need to be watered well before winter, as they may not show signs of stress until it's too late Be proactive in caring for your trees: the investment in water is worth it for the long-term health and beauty of the trees in your yard Resources Mentioned in the Show: Down the Garden Path: A Step-By-Step Guide to Your Ontario Garden Have a topic you'd like me to discuss? Inviting God – Wk. 8 (Invitation to a Thirsty Soul)
10.5.2025 - Hard Truths for Soft Relationships - What to Do About Thirsty Christianity_ - Rom. 12-1-2- Ps. 16-8- Heb. 11-24-26-esv2-78p-bg-60p by Anacostia River Church
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
Every one of us is thirsty for something. We chase success, people, and possessions—hoping they'll fill the ache in our soul. But no matter how much we drink, it's never enough. That's because our souls weren't designed for substitutes. They were designed for Jesus. Psalm 63 says, “I thirst for You… my whole being longs for You.” And in John 4, Jesus tells us that only His living water can truly satisfy. Everything else—our achievements, relationships, even good things—are broken cisterns that can't hold what we're desperate for. So what do we do? We seek Him before anything else. We name the empty wells we've been running to. And we make space for His voice. Because the truth is simple: Jesus satisfies what success, stuff, and people never will.

This week, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, a rural dirt road is the scene of a bloody attack on two people, after a year long fight, between neighbors. The neighbors had been messing with each other, tearing up the community road, cursing, stalking, fist fighting, and pointing guns at each other, until one morning, when it all spins out of control, ending in cold blooded murder! Will the jury buy a self defense claim? Along the way, we find out that you can have a beach, just about anywhere, that adults shouldn't fight with neighbors, while at work, and that it's much easier to move, than it is to go on trial for murder!!
