So Jared takes over for Strickland? Shit, maybe they'll actually have some topics and talk about something. I wouldn't know cause I didn't listen to the episode. So Jared wrote an ad for me! It's got music and everything, and it's really clever. The problem is those bozos Doug & Strick yap away for so long that you may fall asleep before you get to it, and that's even if you're driving! Damn, so much good stuff that Jared sends in and those guys just don't know when the hell to shut up! And they go off on a political/COVID rant today too, haven't we heard just about enough of all that shit from CNN and MSNBC and NSA and QVC and all the other letters? OK, here's my tip for the day- skip right to 54 minutes in, listen to the ad for me and skip the rest. I'd tell you to listen for less than 1 minute because that's the amount of time that you have to listen for it to count as a download but Jared's song is longer than that and you don't want to miss any of it because it's really good. Fuck the rest of the episode. It's over an hour long and they made me listen to the whole thing just to write some crappy notes that don't even have anything to do with the episode! They don't pay me enough for this shit. Have they given Steve O'Brien a raise yet?    You really need to check out Doug and Strickland's mastermind class on How to make money, grow your tribe, and build influence through podcasting. This is The Do It For Yourself Podcast.  Each week I sit down with someone who is doing it for themselves and chasing a dream they just couldn’t suppress.  This is often speakers, entrepreneurs, or athletes.  They all share one thing in common, they are overcoming challenges and never giving up.  Someone who is Doing It For Themselves is not selfish in their pursuit, they are simply chasing a dream or working towards a goal because it is something THEY want to do.  They are not forging down a path because society or someone is telling them it’s what they should be doing. This week I am so excited to bring you this interview with someone who I have been waiting to get on the podcast!  My guest this week is Jared Simons.  Jared is a vegan triathlete who is also the chef and owner of the restaurant called No Name.  Jared had so much to offer and it was hard to keep it to an hour but I wanted to respect his time because I know that he is a VERY busy guy.   Jared entered into the food service industry at a young age.  When he began working his first job, he remembers being "demoted" to the kitchen because he was a punk rocker and he changed his hair color to red.  Little did Jared know how much this would play into his career choice for the rest of his life.  He quickly moved through the ranks of a dishwasher to helping prep appetizers for the guests in this restaurant.  Jared immediately fell in love with the kitchen and he knew this is what he wanted to do for his career.   Jared remembers the initial kickback from his family when he told them that he wanted to go to culinary school.  His parents both had very successful careers and he remembers his family asking why he didn't want to go to school to become a doctor or something of the likes.  Jaren knew this just wasn't for him and he wanted to go to culinary school and so he did.   After schooling Jared made his way back into the food service industry, starting at the bottom as many do.  Before long though, Jared had an opportunity to start his own restaurant with the guy from his first ever restaurant.  Although young and inexperienced in the business world, Jared took a chance and owned his first restaurant in his young twenties.   after spending many years in this industry, he began to take a toll on Jared's body thought.  He remembers waking up in the morning and just being drained.  He was tired, didn't want to get up and knew that he was in very poor health.  He knew it was time to make a change but he did not have the money to do so.  Being resourceful though, Jared struck a deal with a restaurant customer.  In exchange for some personal training, Jared promised to feed his new trainer lunch every day.  This was the jumpstart that Jared needed to get going.  Before long he fell in love with working out and began to see and FEEL the changes in his health.  Jared remembered reading about one of his punk rock heroes John Joseph and how he was fifty years old and doing Ironman Triathlons.  Jared thought, man this guy is the epitome of health and that's what I want.  So Jared decided a triathlon would be his next fitness goal and he signed up for his first Olympic distance race.   Before even completing this race, Jared signed up for two additional races that year!  He was loving the training so much that he knew before even doing his first race that he was going to love it.  Love it he did, and he has not stopped competing since then.  Joining a tri club in Los Angeles to gain as much knowledge as he possibly could.  Jared describes how important joining this club was, not for the training but because of the amount of knowledge he gained from his fellow athletes in the club.   Jared has since competed in countless triathlon races and he chronicles his training journey on Instagram.  I really enjoyed getting the chance to catch up with Jared on this weeks episode and I hope you enjoy our conversation!   Jared's Instagram Do It For Yourself Instagram Support the show here!   Notable mentions in this show: John Joseph Instagram John's New Book Rich Roll Podcast Los Angeles Triathlon Club

She is the author of the book “Is Your Business Worth Saving?” where she reveals proven strategies for pulling entrepreneurs out of a rut and launching them toward business success.   The growth of any business is crucial. It takes lots of work to go out and find new customers. Maintaining a business also takes work, as most people do not have a hundred percent client retention rate. This is where the Dream Fifty can really work for you, to get the results you would like by working smarter rather than harder.   In this episode of She's Building Her Empire, Stacy unpacks the idea of the Dream Fifty, a method that you can use to network with the right people and reach many more people in your target market, with way less effort. A Dream Fifty could be a complimentary business, an organization or even a community. Join Stacy today, as she explains how you can grow your business by using your Dream Fifty.   Some highlights include:   “Write down a list, fifty or more of your dream type people...” From minute 2.20, Stacy explains how you can start using your Dream Fifty.   “Now the trick here is to be as strategic as possible when you're coming up with this, it really needs to be a win win.” At minute 2.50, Stacy explains how to strategize when using your Dream Fifty.   “That one, yes, could be so worth it to you.” At minute 3.35, Stacy explains how valuable even one person can be, when you use your Dream Fifty.   “'No's' are okay, sometimes a 'no' is secretly just a 'not right now'.” At minute 3.40, Stacy explains that sometimes a 'no' is not necessarily a 'never'.   “So when they say 'no', just work your butt off so they become a 'yes' at some point. At minute 4.37, Stacy advises you about how to deal with a 'no'.   “I have a Dream Fifty for my podcast guests that I want to interview. I also have a Dream Fifty for shows that I want to be on...” At minute 4.50, Stacy talks about how she uses her Dream Fifty in her business.   “So Jared just recently launched a book, 3 Billion Under 30...” At minute 5.55, Stacy shares where she discovered the Dream Fifty idea.   “He then asked me if I wanted to interview any of the experts in the book, that he could personally get me an introduction.” At minute 7.06, Stacy talks about her personal experience of the benefits using of the Dream Fifty.   “It's easy to be an affiliate to something when you're involved in it.” At minute 7.56, Stacy talks about another advantage to using your Dream Fifty.   “Your network is your net worth.” At minute 9.06, Stacy reminds you that whatever you put out in business, will come back.   “When somebody introduces you that you're friends with, you're going to take it more seriously- it's not going to feel like a spam-type email...” At minute 10.45, Stacy talks about the value of personal   “Don't forget to reach out to specific people. Use your network and give.” At minute 11.33, Stacy encourages you to give freely, without any expectation of reward.   “We just opened up our She's Building Her Empire Live, a live event that we'll be hosting this April, so we have early bird pricing going on right now.” At minute 14.35, Stacy talks about her live event and tells you how to get hold of early bird tickets at a special price.   To buy early bird tickets: www.shesbuildingherempirelive.com   To contact Stacy: www.shesbuildingherempire.com   Book: 3 Billion Under 30 by Jared Kleinert

Volatility Voicemail: Listener questions and comments Question from Jordan M. - Do you have any updates on the volatility ETF from Robert Whaley that proposes to eliminate the roll yield issues with VXX? Is it coming to market any time soon? Question from Smile Creators - Hello, big fan. Thanks for the great shows. Is there a study that tracks Implied vol vs Historical vol? I am interested to see when they are following the same pattern or they deviate. Pakapiko. Question from Mr. Bochco - Where do you guys fall on the great 252 vs 365 debate when analyzing volatility? I have heard arguments for both. At the end of the day does volatility not occur even on the weekends and holidays? The Wager:    Comment from AvonDude - Recent comments from the Fed this week seem to reinforce Marks stance on rates. Whomever wins the wager should buy the other guy a bottle of the fine liquor of their choice. Comment from Mike S. - Not looking good on the Fed front. I probably have to fall on the no change side of the fence after this week. I do not remember which host wagered on what but I would like to see the losing host make a donation to the other host’s favorite charity. That way everyone wins. Comment from Tom Statton - I think both co-hosts should buy Mark a steak regardless of the outcome for featuring them on this fantastic program. Well done Mark. I would buy you one as well if you ever make it to Alberta. Comment from Mark A. - No way Fed raises this year. When he loses I think Jared should fly to Chicago and host a cocktail party for all Volatility Views listeners. I would happily allow him to buy me some tasty beverages. Comment from SylvanElph - Regarding the Fed Bet - It ois a radio program so the co-hosts cannot wear embarrassing outfits. Maybe buy the other a pizza of their choice? So Jared would have to buy Mark (and Mark) a nice Chicago deep dish and Mark would have to buy Jared a tasty NYC thin crust. Or New Haven style. Whatever his preference. Comment from Jeremy Stevens - I think the Fed will have to adjust their rates before the close of 2015. They are too terrified of inflation and stagflation to sit on their hands. Not sure why a blip in CHF in early 2015 would set the tone for Fed policy at the end of 2015? Maybe Mark can elaborate? As for the wager - How about the loser gives away 5 free subscriptions to his services to VV listeners? So Jared can give away some BGC Research and Mark can offer his Option Pit subscriptions.   Crystal Ball: Andrew and Jared prognosticate wildly. VIX cash to below 13?

Your sympathy for my plight as the “lone market participant” is appreciated. Sorry I set off the racism detector with my handle. I did not mean to derail the program. It just happens to be my name (although I do like the rice).   Question from Tim Biggs - Any data on that theta free approach to earnings? What percentage of decay occurs prior to the event vs. post-event and how does that compare to underlying movement during the period? Question from George - This may seem like a silly question but does anyone go out and look at old VIX cash data from 30 days ago and compare that to current realized? Is that not what VIX cash is attempting to predict? Is that disseminated anywhere as a number or index? Something along the lines of a VIX Accuracy Index?
