Nothing says the follow-up to Superman like a budget movie, right? It's that weird mix of camp, bad costumes, a busty lady, and villians of dubious intent. Oh, and it's also a fairy-tale love story. WTF is Swamp Thing? It's surprisingly bad. Nothing can prepare you for how crummy this film is. You've got all the pieces that should make for an OK movie - the established Wes Craven only 2 years before his masterpiece. Adrienne Barbeau hot off her run of John Carpenter films, Ray Wise on his way to Leland nuttiness, Harry Manfredini ready to give the hot licks, Alan Moore's material, the backing of DC loaded up on cash after Superman. How did this go wrong?!?! The makeup is awful, the costumes are atrocious, the writing is beyond nonsense, the story is a big question mark and then the way the whole thing ends is just nuts. This truly is one of the worst comic-book movies of all time. That aside, it's a total blast - cheesy, cheesy fun. Swamp Thing is completely useless, despite having super-strength and healing powers. He mostly just chucks guys out of boats, then lets them get back in, then chucks them out, rinse and repeat. Meanwhile, Barbeau's Cable, is just getting nabbed over and over again. Useless. The end...wow. Whomever thought that your epic climax would best be shown by a battle over a knight's sword between a man-pig and a guy in a loose rubber costume was going to wow audience's....yipes. It's a must-do bad movie.
In this episode Stacie and I dig deep into how we were bullied and our why. Our discovery of what happened, and what we did once we learned it was happening, and what we still do. How we prevent it. Standing up to bullies is not easy when you don't know what to do, but once you can speak up, you have a voice. With a voice you can move mountains. If you don't know you're being a bully, ask yourself if you're wanting something of someone and making them wrong for not giving it to you. If you are being bullied, speak up and outward. A significant first step is sharing that it is happening. If you are in an abusive relationship, whether physical, verbal, or mental, contact the proper authorities. Whomever they may be to the situation that you are in. Get in communication with someone and ask for help.
Who was the unexplained figure standing down a dark hall? That's what we discuss today on Real Ghost Stories Online. Here is a preview of the story. “Whomever it was made heavy footfalls against the floor, walking slowly but at a steady pace, the footsteps went through the living room and had gotten halfway across the kitchen when all four flashlights in the group's possession went out at once. No amount of shaking, hitting, or cursing could make them work. They were stuck in pitch blackness. The footsteps continued down the hall and to the top of the stairs. Jim called out a friendly "Hello!" just as a precaution, but the only reply he got was the door opening at the top of the stairs. The footsteps began descending the stairs steadily. The group could not see anyone due to the flashlights still not working. Then the boots stopped on the last step. Someone was standing there. Suddenly, all four flashlights came back to life. They quickly shined the lights to where the person was standing...or should have been. But there was just an empty staircase.”To hear more real ghost stories, become a supporter of our show and get every episode, including our weekly bonus episodes at http://www.ghostpodcast.com or http://www.patreon.com/realghoststories Watch more at: http://www.realghoststoriesonline.com/Follow Tony:Instagram: HTTP://www.instagram.com/tonybrueskiTikToc: https://www.tiktok.com/@tonybrueskiFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/tony.brueskiIf you have a real ghost story or supernatural event to report, please write into our show or call 1-855-853-4802!If you like the show, please help keep us on the air and support the show by becoming an EPP (Extra Podcast Person). Information is the real currency of the present day and likely will be for the future. At least until that meteor gets here. It’s been that way for a long time, actually. Think all the way back to World War Two. Information was the key to the war. Whoever controlled the flow of information, the transmitting of it, the encrypting and decrypting of it, would be sure to be the victor. The Enigma machine was an early encryption device used by the Nazi’s to transmit their most important orders and reports. They considered it to be absolutely secure. Fortunately, they were wrong. The allies were able to decrypt the messages, allowing them to forestall many attacks and shorten the war, saving untold lives as a result. Today, information and its rapid processing, understanding, and application control trillions of dollars in the global economy. Countries, businesses, and of course individuals rise and fall based on their command of the available data. With that much riding on it, the question of who owns which data has become more important than ever. Not only is it more important than ever, but it is also more complicated. Or so it would seem. In the case of a patent, or a story, a song, some individual work of creativity, the question of who owns that intellectual property is a fairly simple one. Whomever the creator is, owns the property. However, it becomes much more complicated when it comes to all the piles and piles of data that are generated every minute. Let’s look at an example we’ve mentioned in the space a couple of times before. John Deere includes a number of sensors on its farm equipment that feed data relating to the machine’s performance and crop yields back to the company. Now, who owns the data? The farmer who generated it? The company for making the equipment that collects it and then pays for the server space to store it, or the company that owns the servers? Once upon a time, the question was simple to answer, the answer was always based on who owned the servers. Of course, that was in a time before cloud computing and IoT devices. Data was something that company generated by analyzing its own internal production and sales figures and then stored on its own private servers. Now, data might be stored in multiple servers around the world. It might be gathered through the use of IoT devices embedded in machines that rely on the work of people not employed by the company. For many, this situation creates a tangled legal web with a tendency to default either to past practice or whatever is in the company’s terms of service. That seems simple enough, but we all know nobody actually takes the time to read, much less understand all the legal niceties of their podcast aggregator before downloading it. They are simply too cumbersome and draconian. Some companies actually make an effort to respect their customers and have terms that reflect that. Whoop for example regards the data generated by people wearing their health tracking devices as belonging to the customer, not the company. Until recently, WhatsApp was in this category. Nevertheless, not enough companies take this approach and are determined to try and claim ownership over the data in its entirety. TARTLE disagrees. We believe the solution is indeed a simple one – the data rightfully belongs to whoever is generating it. If you think about it this is actually what the default was before we started collecting and storing everything in remote servers. A company kept track of its own data and used it how it saw fit. If a person wanted to know their health information, they tracked it using devices that they paid for but weren’t connected to the internet. It only got complicated because others decided that they should have access to your data, an attitude only feasible because of our constantly being connected. Take that away and everyone’s data is just that, their data. It doesn’t have to be complicated at all. It just needs to be recognized that the default assumption before the cloud was the right one. What’s your data worth? www.tartle.co

To me, being Christlike means being a holistic human! Being Christlike also means being an angelic soul without trying to be perfect, and combatting the devilishness of life. I deeply respect all faiths and all kinds of faith-based people. I have question marks when it comes to the duality of good and evil, supernaturalism, divine miracles, the afterlife, Messianic claims, and the existence of spiritual beings. I choose to stay heavenly in a hellish world! Instead of focusing on which religion is right, I focus on being a decent person. You want to write copy that converts, but how can you do that? Remember this: Before conversion comes connection. You need to connect with your audience before you start pitching them. In this week's episode, I'm giving you three ways to do exactly that. Spiritual Foundations Do Not Boast About Tomorrow. “… we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NKJV) Many verses of the Bible seem a little vague (hence all the various denominations of Christianity), but this one is crystal clear. As a believer, I find comfort in this verse during the bad times. If I don't see the good in what is happening in my life, I simply need to remember that the story isn't over. In other words, in the end, I will see the good. Tip of the Week My tip this week is for a free app called Threads that is available for both IOS and Android. This is the tool to use when you want to add close captioning to your Instagram stories (which, for the record, I do on a daily basis right here). Why closed captioning? Because not everyone scrolls through Instagram Stories with the volume up and having the text on the screen entices them to either turn it up or read it. How do I know this to be true? Because my engagement has increased since I began using it. If you're posting videos on IG, I highly recommend you get this app. Feature Presentation 3 Ways To Write Copy That Connects I don't just write copy, I teach others to write copy and often my students and I review some of their material that flopped. In almost every case, the basic problem is the same: They failed to connect with the reader on a personal level. Their words were...just words. First connect. Then convert. Here are three ways to get it right: 1. Pay attention to what your market is talking about. Whomever your intended audience is, do your homework and get to know them. Try to learn not only the relevant joys, pains and everything in between, but also learn their specific language well enough to echo it back to them in your copy. 2. Help them feel understood, appreciated, justified , safe and vindicated. Okay, there is a lot going on in that sentence, but it isn't complicated. It goes back to remembering whom you're talking to. For instance, I've never been in combat, but I've written some powerful copy for our combat veteran heroes. How could I do that if I've never experienced the battlefield? I took the time to listen to their stories...to make an emotional connection, to empathize as much as possible. 3. Be interesting especially when you’re talking about boring things (be different by not being the same) It would be great if every story we had to tell were filled with action heroes, narrow escapes and surprise endings, but that ain't so. You have to find a way to make the story interesting even if the subject isn't. There was a time when no one would have considered making a funny car insurance commercial. What's funny about car wrecks? Nothing. But, put a caveman in a suit and tie and now you've got my attention. How To Help Subscribe to the show in iTunes and give us a rating and review. There's a quote I heard that I've been contemplating that says how people should, “Praise in public & critique in private.” I've got a few thoughts now on this point of view and one of the things that informed me in my mulling and musing about it is an even older saying that tells us that “our words should pass through 3 gates before we ever write them or speak them out loud.” Before we open our big fat mouths (ha!) and utter a word, we should ask ourselves: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? When we're dealing with one-to-one communication with human beings, it would behoove us to have our first thought be, “What is the most loving or kind way I can handle this?” And then proceeding by sometimes speaking about their strengths first, before talking about where growth needs to happen. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we are taking a look at the differences between criticism versus feedback and how we can be working this on either side of that fence. Whether that be externally with those around us or how we internally speak to ourselves. Whomever we are speaking to, we must first understand that our words matter. An approach of curiosity and love instead of judgement allows us to ask the kind of questions that open the doors of thought, inspiration and insight. Rather than eliciting a response of attack, defend or prove. This isn't always the easiest road to travel because sometimes our input means that others (and even ourselves) have to take a look at painful spots we'd rather not deal with and prefer to ignore. Having a level of tenderness in our approach helps to, at the very least, make the process bearable and something we can face more willingly. Being mindful and intentional in our communication will help us to create a more loving, kind world where people can feel supported, seen and know that they matter. www.valerielavignelife.com/99 for all the show notes and the goods! [00:26] Hi there, welcome back to the Women's Empowerment Podcast, I am so happy you are here. I've got to tell you my life has been very busy the last few months and I've been finding it hard to slow down and recharge my batteries. I feel guilty when I have a moment to myself, and with everything that needs to be done, I use my “down time” to tie up loose ends or work on projects or something more “productive.” I've been making excuses for why I can't relax in a bath, or meditate in the mornings. My schedule is filled with tasks and my to-do list keeps growing. It's been so long since I've felt a full cup, that I can't even tell you the last time I had an abundance of energy or creativity. Here's what I do know: I'm not alone in feeling this way. In fact, I would bet that everyone listening right now has felt this way recently. I would argue that these feelings come from the complete disruption that this year has brought and that through this time we have been jolted into survival mode. We are trying to get through the day, feeling overwhelmed that everything must happen now. But survival mode isn't sustainable. And if we haven't reached the point of burnout yet, I can assure you that if we keep this up, we'll feel it very soon. I've been feeling it more and more and my physical body has been sending me signs to pay more attention to how I'm feeling, and to fill up my cup first. Which is why I wanted to use this podcast episode as a friendly, but firm reminder to slow down, and reestablish self care in our daily habits. I can confidently say that the only reason why I haven't completely burnt out is because I have solid habits in place, and even though I don't have bigger components of self care, it is these everyday habits that keep my vitality up and keep my body going. If you've listened to the show before, you'll know that I like to give practical and tangible tools so that you can start taking action TODAY. I also like to skip the fluff and get right to the good stuff. Let's go through the 7 Areas of Wellness and I will share some simple daily habits we can start incorporating into our daily lives to help fill our cups. What I'd like you to do is listen carefully. Notice which areas of your wellness need a little extra love and attention. At the end of this episode, I will share a few extra tips on how to stay consistent with these habits. [3:47] Area of Wellness One: Physical This is a huge category and we could probably break it down into several smaller categories, however for the purpose of today's episode, I will share a variety of suggestions and you can choose which feels best for you at this time. Take a break. Use this time to relax and step away from the work you are doing. Even if it's for 10 or 15 minutes. Go for a walk. Moving your body and getting fresh air are two great ways to fill up your physical cup. Really take the time to move and breathe, and leave your phone at home. Exercise. While a full workout every day might not be possible in the start of this habit, scheduling 15-20 minutes of daily movement could be. There are so many resources for quick workouts that you can do from home, there aren't any excuses to not do them. Personally I have learned that I am more likely to get a workout in BEFORE I start my daily tasks rather than after. Choose the time of day that works best for you and your schedule. Choose wholefood nutrients. Our nutrition is foundational for our health and wellbeing, and incorporating healthier options in our daily self care supports our bodies from the inside out. It can be as simple as drinking the correct amount of water for our bodies, adding in more greens, or maybe it's taking high-quality supplements every day. I'll link to the supplements I take daily and where you can get them. Take days off. Schedule in your lunch breaks, vacation days, and days off. Commit to not working or stressing about not working on those days. For me Sundays are my day off. The most “work” I do on Sundays is to plan my week out, but I rarely go on my computer or check my emails on Sunday. People in my circle know that I set boundaries around this day and that's important to me. It also helps if I schedule something fun into the day. This past weekend we went pumpkin and apple picking, and we made butternut squash soup with some of the ingredients we got from the local farms we visited. DAILY LIFELONG VITALITY SUPPLEMENTS: Wholesale Enrolment + Pricing BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP RECIPE: https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/instant-pot-butternut-squash-soup/ [6:46] Area of Wellness Two: Emotional This area of wellness can be difficult to navigate because for some of us, we have never learned about emotional intelligence. If this is a new term for you, I highly suggest reading the book titled Emotional Intelligence. I will link to it in the show notes page for you. A personal with emotional intelligence is responsive to situations rather than reactive. It's the ability to be aware of and understand our own emotions, while also being able to properly embrace them without letting them take over. You can assess this area of your wellness by asking a few questions: When was the last time I did an activity that made me feel really happy? What do I do that helps me feel confident? Energized? Am I processing my emotions in a healthy way? Here are some ways we can improve our emotional area of wellness: Give ourselves permission to feel our emotions. This can be done alone, or with another person who we feel safe with and can hold space for us. It's okay to feel and express ourselves as long as we are doing so safely. This could be a daily practice of checking in with how we are feeling, noticing and allowing the feelings to flow. Keep a journal. Document the good and the bad feelings. Allow yourself to write it all out and maybe even come up with creative solutions for how we can celebrate, or cope with the emotions. Do something we enjoy. Do you love to draw? Craft? Take photographs? Dance to your favourite music? Whatever you love to do, do that! And actually enjoy it while you do it! Switch it up every so often so that it doesn't become a chore, and it stays a joy! Develop healthy and supportive friendships. I always feel better emotionally after I've spent some time with a friend. Last week a friend of mine and I met to run an errand, and even though it was a short visit, we had a nice tea and walk together while we shopped for some great home decor pieces for her bedroom! It was lovely. Call a friend and make a date, you'll both be grateful you did! On the day to day this might be a friendly text to a friend, a comment on their socials, or a call on your commute. For more ways to build friendships, you'll want to hear area of health number four. [11:04] Area of Wellness Three: Intellectual/Mental Mental health has been a very popular topic of discussion over the last several years. More and more people are beginning to understand and serve this area of health, yet many people will say their mental health could be improved. Even though we each have our own reasons for why this is, we still live in a world that demands instant everything: results, gratification, connection, etc. However, said plainly, this is unrealistic. To increase vitality in our mental health, try any of these self care habits: Make time for relaxation. Can you incorporate 10 minute mediation or savasana? Perhaps an evening soak with candles, epsom salts, and essential oils? Maybe it's taking a lunch break outside in the sunshine. Think of the ways you like to relax and how you can incorporate this into your daily routine. Personally I like to wind down by doing a French lesson on an app on my phone before going to bed. Since it's another language it requires my full attention. It's not how I want to keep spending my evenings but it's helped me a lot for the last few months when I've struggled to turn off my monkey mind before bed. Engage in hobbies outside of work. I'm what some people call a “workaholic” But I'm working on that. I often joke that my hobbies are work. LIke taking photos and creating content… and even though those are enjoyable - I have to create boundaries around it. Some great hobbies are: arts/crafts, reading non-work-related material, building a puzzle, visiting museums/exhibits, yoga and exercise, spending time in nature, playing with lego, the list is really endless. Choose a hobby that you enjoy and spend a little time doing that each day. Stop feeling bad about boundaries. If you don't want to do something, go somewhere or something that is being asked of you crosses over your boundary line, say “no.” and let it go! Don't feel bad for saying no to something that doesn't light you up or fill your cup. I had a really hard time with this for YEARS, and one of the personal development books I was reading at the time encouraged me to say “no.” and not give a reason to just politely say no or no thank you. So I stepped out of my comfort zone and started saying no. At first I felt guilty and then I realized that after the short feeling of guilt, I felt a HUGE wave of relief! It became easier to say no to what didn't fill my cup. Stay consistent. This could be said about any of the seven areas of wellness and the suggestions I'm sharing, but what I do know is that when I've been consistent with my habits, my mental health thrives. I noticed this the most when I was working out every morning at the gym. Yes I was working on my physical health and that was improving, but so was my mental health - in a really powerful way. I think the consistency played a big role in it. [17:33] Area of Wellness Four: Social This area of wellness includes your friends, acquaintances, family and relatives. Social connection is incredibly important to health and well-being. It's so easy to get caught up and overwhelmed that our busy lives affect our close relationships. And although true friends and family will understand that life has its seasons, they are true friends when they can kindly point out and recognize when this area of wellness needs some extra attention. Consider the important relationships you have in your life, how are you currently nurturing them? Are you getting face-time with these people? Some ways to increase vitality in our social area of wellness could be: Prioritize your partner. Or your family, or your best friends, or your kids. Whomever your people are. Your people love you, but they also need love from you. Yes self care is filling your cup, and your people are part of your life and well-being. It doesn't have to be the first thing you do every day, but it could be part of your daily habits to express your love and appreciation to your partner/people. Avoid bringing work home. This is a tough one for me, especially since sometimes I work from home. It's important to create boundaries around work and home life. Set your “office hours” and honour those hours. Creating and maintaining these boundaries for yourself will encourage other people in your life to do the same, and they will respect your boundaries when they see you doing so. Go to the event you were invited to. Again, this may not be an every day thing, and maybe we can't go to every event! But I will tell you right now that when I started showing up for more family events, my relationship with my family members improved exponentially. I set boundaries around my time and I always drove myself to the event so that I could leave when I was ready, but I showed up and it meant a lot to my family members. They were more understanding if I had to leave a little earlier and they were very grateful for my company. Join a like-minded group/community. A couple years ago networking and meeting new people was so out of my comfort zone. To be honest I don't really recognize that part of myself anymore but at the time, putting myself out there was a HUGE leap out of my comfort zone and I am so grateful that I did! My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! The relationships I've built, the amazing people I have met, and the things I have learned are truly priceless. Again, it might not be a daily habit, however finding events, communities, or groups that you could meet with weekly or monthly can be very important for self-care and vitality. Connect with a friend. A daily call? A quick text? A weekly lunch? A morning walk? There are countless ways to connect and some of them can be done daily. Maybe you're both working on increasing your vitality and self care - be each-others accountability buddies! [23:13] Area of Wellness Five: Spiritual This area of wellness will be different for everyone as spirituality means many things to different people. The way I like to view this area is that our spiritual health is about nurturing the things that are beyond ourselves. The parts of our worlds that have deep meaning and ask us to reflect. Consider the following questions to assess your spiritual health: Am I engaging in spiritual practices? Am I taking time to reflect on the things that matter most to me? Am I doing my best to contribute to causes I care about? Some healthy habits/practices for spiritual health include: Prayer, meditation, and/or mindfulness. There are many methods of these practices and each can be very effective in nurturing our spiritual practice. Even mindfulness, as an example, can be in the form of movement like in yoga, or perhaps a walking meditation. If this is something that interests you but is also new to you, consider exploring different types of prayer, meditation and mindfulness and seeing which one resonates with you. Donate to a meaningful cause. What is important to you? How can you donate and support this cause? It doesn't always have to be money, perhaps it's volunteering your time, or raising awareness in your community. Connect and reflect with like minded friends and community members. I used to host virtual full moon ceremonies and the women who joined, as well as myself LOVED these evenings together. Our meditations and reflections were so much more powerful when we came together as a collective. [25:09] Area of Wellness Six: Occupational Most people spend the majority of their time at their workplace or working throughout the week, which makes it one of the most important areas of wellness, and often an overlooked and/or abused area. Remember that we're working on ONE area of wellness, and ONE of the suggestions so that we aren't overwhelming ourselves with all these new daily/weekly habits. Here are some self-care suggestions to consider when it comes to occupational health. Create and honour work boundaries. If you want to leave work by 3pm every day, at 3pm leave work. No exceptions. If you check emails between 1 and 4 every day, don't you dare open your emails outside of that window. If you're off on the weekends, let your voicemail take a message that you can return on Monday. Set your boundaries, respect your boundaries. End of discussion. Eliminate, delegate, and automate whenever you can. What can we take off our plates so that we can be better at working in our zone of genius and really love our work? Go through your to do list daily or weekly and see what you can eliminate, delegate, or automate. Then work on the more important tasks from there. Incorporate continuing education. Deepen your professional knowledge by reading or learning more about your industry each day. Perhaps there is a helpful book, podcast, or online course you can commit to reading, listening, or working on for 30 minutes a day. [28:15] Area of Wellness Seven: Environmental I think of environmental wellness in two main pillars: the first is the planet/environment. How can we make the world a better place? The second is: the home environment. How can we make our home a better place? If you're on the journey to personal growth and development, you'll know that the work, changes, and transformations start with us as individuals. We cannot change others but we can change ourselves. This also applies to the environment. We might not be able to save the planet as one being, but we can play our part in making the world a better place and the ripple effect will take place and encourage others to also make a difference. As with each of the areas of wellness, I will share some suggestions. Remember that there are countless things we can do to support each of these areas, even if I haven't included them in today's episode. Marie Kondo your living space. If you haven't already read the BOOK: “The life changing magic of tidying up” by Marie Kondo, I recommend it. I think the series might still be available on Netflix for anyone who has it. Go through your items and only keep the things that bring you joy. Marie teaches her method and it's a lot of work - I've done it before, so it might be something you want to work at each day. Make environmentally friendly swaps. Once you're finished with your household cleaning products, skincare products, or any household products, consider buying environmentally friend options. These are generally products we use every single day, so how can we make them better, and feel better about our choices each time we use them? Check out my Green Cleaning E-Book! Reduce, reuse, recycle. We've all heard of these three words, but are we practicing them? The first word is REDUCE. This is something the majority of the population struggles with, but perhaps recently we have noticed a reduction in our consumption. Reduce the amount of packaging, plastic, negative self talk. Nobody needs more of it. Nobody. Reuse. I always try to reuse things AT LEAST TWICE if I can. For example the pasta sauce in the glass jar I've recently used to put our extra soup in. I use reusable water bottles instead of plastic bottles, etc. Recycle. Each area has different recycling policies. Check out your local community website to learn more about the proper ways to recycle in your area. Practice Ahimsa. Ahimsa is one of the five yamas in the yogic philosophy and practice. It means “Non-Violence” it relates to non-violence to ourselves, and to our environment. Each day, bring more awareness to the cause and effect of your daily actions, how can you bring more care to yourself and to the environment? After reading through the show notes, or listening to this episode, and the areas and the suggestions I shared, I hope that you feel inspired to start your new self-care habit. Remember to choose the one that you feel most drawn to at this time. What's so wonderful about this work is that it creates a ripple effect. As you build and increase the vitality of one area of wellness, the other areas will also benefit from the effects. Remember to work with one area at a time. Once you have developed a habit, you may choose to stack another one (any one). There are many theories as to how long to practice something before it becomes a habit, but the most relevant one is, however long YOU need. Some habits form faster than others, take your time building yours. [35:45] As promised, here are 3 Tips for Staying Consistent with your Habits! #1. SCHEDULE SELF CARE What gets scheduled, is what gets done. I will never get tired of saying that because it is the truest and simplest method. Grab your planner, open your electronic calendar, whatever you use, and input your self care. #2. TRACK YOUR HABITS Whether it's a sticker chart you hang on your bathroom mirror, or a tracker you made on Canva, find a way to track your health habits each and every day. Maybe it's in your physical planner. #3. SHARE YOUR JOURNEY One of the best ways I hold myself accountable is when I share my challenge on social media. I tell my online community exactly what I'm doing and I share my progress journey with them. Each day I think about the fact that I have to keep up with my goals because others are watching me. It's accountability, and it works every time. If you aren't ready to share it with your socials, then I suggest sharing it with a friend who will keep you accountable. Thank you so much for being here with me today. Next week is another epic bonus episode with a wonderful soul and light. I am so excited to share this episode with you. I know you're going to love it! Have a wonderful week.

How are you creating a meaningful and powerful life?In today’s episode, Kellan talks to us about the naysayers – the people in your life, including yourself, who try to discourage you from doing the things that you want and need to do to create your own ultimate life. We try to get approval from others when, in fact, we are responsible for our own lives and happiness. When people are stuck living in a rut, it creates problems and increases frustration – in search of their Ultimate Life: a life of purpose, prosperity, and joy. This requires us to believe in our talents, and ourselves, and to use those to serve others.‘Serving’ others and ‘pleasing’ others aren’t the same things. Which are you doing? Key Takeaways:Sometimes when you’re trying to do what you want to do, you have people around you who object to that. Sometimes it happens in your mind as well.|“I spent energy trying to prove to myself and others that I was okay – it’s never enough. Whomever you’re trying to impress never tells you that you are, in fact, okay.”If you don’t try and create answers for the hard questions, you end up in a frustrating circle where you can’t decide what you want to do or that what you’re doing is right.“There are lots of ways you could describe it, but what it really is, is people looking for their ultimate life – a life of purpose, prosperity, and joy that they create serving others. Often you don’t know that’s what you’re looking for.”“You and you alone are responsible for your life.”“We’re responsible to serve others, but we’re not responsible to please everybody.”“If you do the work and you’re in touch with who you really want to be as a person, you know when you are serving someone and when you’re ‘pleasing’ them.”“If you want to create Your Ultimate Life, then you must believe in yourself.”“You’re going to fail, and you’re going to fall on your face. So what? So did every single person that ever tried to do this.”“When you decide what gifts and talents you have that you’re going to use to serve others, then every day is a joy; it’s exciting and full of love.”“You can’t create your ultimate life in the context of only pleasing others.” Connect with Kellan on social media at:Facebook: www.facebook.com/kellan.fluckiger3YouTube: www.youtube.com/c/ultimatelifeformulaLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kellanfluckigerTwitter: https://twitter.com/kellanfluckigerInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachkellanfluckiger/You can find out more about Kellan and how he can help you achieve your ultimate life by checking out his website: https://www.kellanfluckiger.com/Subscribe to the podcast at:Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/your-ultimate-life-with-kellan-fluckiger/id1505919748Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6IXjYZo38go7Pv5ElanVv4Simplecast: https://your-ultimate-life-by-kellan-fluckiger.simplecast.com/Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5zaW1wbGVjYXN0LmNvbS84YVZ1VlVkQw==Stitcher: *https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/your-ultimate-life-with-kellan-fluckiger?refid=stpriHeart: *https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-your-ultimate-life-with-ke-61503928/Deezer: *https://www.deezer.com/us/show/1028862RadioPublic: https://radiopublic.com/your-ultimate-life-with-kellan-fl-G3AMY2If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on ApplePodcasts. In his address, Biden claims that Islam is one of the great confessional faiths and that what people dont realize is that we all come from the same root here in terms of our fundamental, basic beliefs. But as a presidential candidate who regards theology his avocation surely knows, the difference between Christianity and Islam is that of day and night. When you lay the straight stick of essential Christian doctrine next to the Islamic counterfeit, its crookedness is readily apparent. Biden also invokes during his address an ominous Sharia maxim straight from the lips of Muhammad, Whomever among you sees a wrong, let him change it with his hand. If he is not able, then with his tongue. If he is not able, then with his heart. This is Islamic code of saying that true Muslims must use force if they are in the position to do so; but if the enemy is too strong, then wage war with your tongue; and if you cant do that, then strive with hatred in your heart toward those who rebel against Sharia. Western elites like Biden must come to their senses and insist that Muslims abdicate Sharia practices that militate against Western jurisprudence.
Caroline Gomez and Christian Avilés talk about Kimberly Guilfoyle, her super intense and problematic speech at this year's RNC and why Aguadilla was trending on Twitter. The unplugged conversation also touches on The Puerto Rico Self-Determination Act of 2020 introduced by the Puerto Rican members of the House of Representatives, Alexandria Ocasio-Córtez and Nydia Velásquez, the abysmally low turnout for the 2020 Census in Puerto Rico, how to mobilize for Puerto Rican liberation and Christian's Spotify playlist: Mujer puertorriqueña con screensaver de Chayanne. The title of this episode: El que se va p'Aguadilla pierde su silla, refers to a popular rhyming Puerto Rican proverb: "Whomever goes to Aguadilla, loses their seat" which is spoken regularly by Puerto Ricans, who love using their idioms. This saying is used in many situations to imply the loss of privileges or possessions that were had by the simple fact of having momentarily abandoned them.
For my birthday show I wanted to make it a little fun for this one. If you've listened to the show for a while, you've heard comedian and good friend Chris Riggins on. He had hit me up a while back to come to the studio to record a live stand up album. Before I botched that he wanted to do a podcast to warm up for the jokes. Well, I'm his co-host and enjoy doing it. We had fun, we did it with a very small audience. Something that was a strange for me doing the show on stage, but it was fun. Also, the DNC is going on and I have a few choice words about that. Donald Trump didn't create racism. He didn't create the idea of kids in cages. He didn't create the disgusting disparity between the military spending budget and what we spend on Public Health. That being said, I haven't seen a more clearer Lifetime Network movie version of politics in my soon to be 43 years of life. The Democratic Party should just be called the "We're Not Trump" party. They seem to be more than happy to simply be an opposition party than one that seeks to make real change. Many people I know are holding their nose once again at the ballot box, and some that have been newly radicalized during the Trump presidency are looking at other options or opting out altogether. Wherever you sit on the issue one thing is true, after Biden/Harris is elected the fight is not over. COVID-19 and the horrible mishandling of the virus has laid bare all the systemic problems with our country that have exacerbated on a bipartisan level. A private healthcare system that ignores its most vulnerable. The lack of a living wage. Even before the pandemic hit, this country was looking at housing crisis that was leaving millions of Americans homeless and hungry. We have a government that would rather spend billions on a military machine than on its own people. And let's remember that military spending and forever wars is something that Obama and Bush, Jr. was a part of. So I as stare at this photo, I see a screenshot of America. The America that is shown on nightly cable news broadcasts, and the America politicians sell us. I see the frustrated oppressed screaming to be heard, and I see the elites in fear of a real people powered uprising. The pundits will tell you that it's simply racial, but it's more than that. It's Amazon making billions during a time of crisis and not even bothering to keep the facilities clean that their workers risk their lives in. It's sites like this, Facebook making billions allowing actual fake news to spread like cancer throughout the body politic. If a Biden/Harris administration is what we get come 2021, then we cannot stop fighting, pushing for the change we wanted when we thought we would get our more progressive choices. It's "We the People..." not "They the aristocracy...". A people powered movement can push the needle and get real results, real reform. People are already changing the conversation around law enforcement from one of "lock them up" to examining the need for armed officers to respond to mental health crisis. I am not happy with the Democratic Party, just as I am not happy with the Republican Party. Whomever is in office I will be critical, and I will continue to speak out. A Trump defeat in November is not the time to go back to brunch. Thank you for taking the time to listen to the show, we truly appreciate you. The Difference Between the Producer, Engineer, and Mixer is Sometimes Subtle and Sometimes Great. Here's What You Need to Know Before Going Into the Recording Studio! Knowing the Difference Between These 3 Roles Can Save You a Lot of Grief When You're Recording Your Masterpiece I will admit - the first times (yes, TIMES plural) I went into the recording studio as a musician, I thought the very nice and talented guy who owned the basement studio who mic'd up all our instruments, sat behind the mixing console, and made the guitar sound like it was panning from left to right over and over again (not my best idea), was the producer. We even gave him that credit on our releases. Honestly, the only thing we'd seen to help us understand the producer role was what we saw in the movies. There was a guy, sitting behind the mixing console, chain-smoking and hitting a button telling the singer when to stop singing. That was it. While the guy we were paying the hourly rate for use of his studio and his talent as an... engineer... was a really great guy and certainly put up with a lot from us young musicians, he wasn't the producer. And when he stared at us blankly when we wanted to take those raw recordings and release them, we knew something was wrong. "These need to be mixed." "Weren't you doing that already?" "No. I was recording. Mixing comes after." "Um... how much is THAT going to cost?" Needless to say, the mixing process doesn't pop up in La Bamba, so how were we to know? So, here it is - the difference between the producer, engineer, and mixer. Download our free Music Management Primer! www.outerloopcoaching.com Thank you for liking, commenting, and sharing this video. The producer is responsible for everything - soup-to-nuts, as they say. They are responsible for what notes get played, by whom, and with what. If you are making those decisions, congratulations, you are the producer. A producer can often have so much influence on a song, they get songwriting credit. The influence of the producer on a song should be felt each and every time you perform that song for years to come. Not just in the studio. The producer should demand great performances from the musicians during the recording and is the ultimate arbiter as to what is worthy and what is not worthy of your recording. The producer bosses YOU around. The producer bosses the Engineer around. And the producer bosses the Mixer around. Do you need a producer? Watch and read what I think about that next week! The engineer makes sure the performances are captured the best ways possible. They are responsible for making sure microphones are placed in the optimal places near the instruments. The engineer is responsible for the recording volume levels so the recordings can be cleanly worked with during the mix later. The engineer hits the record button and the stop button and you always hope does so at the best moments possible. The mixer doesn't come in until after all the recording is done. They take all the recordings and blend them together into a finished, listenable recording. The mixer turn some sounds up and other sounds down for the final mix so they're the one you tell when the vocals need to be louder or the bass quieter... or the guitar should pan to the left and right incessantly. The producer is always on hand for the mix because they are ultimately responsible for the finished product. But they are telling the mixer what they want to be louder than something else. Keep in mind, often these roles are performed by the same person. There are some terrific producers who also have the talent of an engineer. Some producers insist on doing the final mix themselves. Whomever is doing what role for your recording, make sure you know ahead of time. This will save you a ton of embarrasment - and potentially money - later. Learn more about your ad choices. Just as we were about to record, there was a knock on the door. Whomever could it be?!? We weren't expecting anyone. We answered the door and saw none other than Steve Rannazzisi standing there! We greeted him and asked how he was doing. After a little small talk, he asked if he could come in. We informed him we were about to podcast. It was then that he uttered "Pooka Williams", which just so happens to be the password required to gain admittance into the podcast. We discuss all sorts of interesting topics with Steve, and a good time is had by all. This one will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and out.
