Thank you for listening to our Finding Brave show, ranked in the Top 100 Apple Career Podcasts! “There is this balance between building that world-class network in record time, doing this as quickly as possible to accomplish your goals, helping your clients more or bring your vision to life, and also the fact that we are playing a very long game. Some of the people that you're making friendships with now may benefit you in 10 or 20 years, and you have no idea how they're going to support you or how you're going to support them in the future.” - Jared Kleinert Networking is a process of true engagement with others that is critical to our success that I talk about often, and today's Finding Brave guest truly embodies this skill. If you've ever wanted to improve your networking skills to not only help in the attainment of your own goals, but to assist others in achieving their desires, there are unspoken rules you must be aware of. In this episode, our guest reveals these rules and gives you the tools that will help you become a true “super connector.” Jared Kleinert is a TED speaker, award-winning author, and USA Today's “Most Connected Millennial.” He's the co-founder of a new startup called Offsite and author of the new book How To Build A World Class Network In Record Time. As Jared shares, ultimately becoming a super connector is about doing the important inner work that we all need to do on a regular basis. We encourage you to start working on building your support network today, but don't get discouraged or take it personally if at first you don't get the results you were hoping for or expecting. If you detach from the outcome and give it your best effort, in the long run both you, and the people in your network, will benefit greatly. Today our expert guest is Jared Kleinert, a serial entrepreneur, TED speaker, and award-winning author who USA Today named the “most connected Millennial.” He's also the author of 2 Billion Under 20: How Millennials Are Breaking Down Age Barriers and Changing the World. His work profiles seemingly superhuman young people who have founded companies collectively worth billions of dollars, such as WordPress, Duolingo, General Assembly, and more. He is also a social media influencer with followings in the tens of millions, featuring film producers and leaders across diverse industries ranging from virtual reality to lunar settlements. As a highly sought-after keynote speaker and consultant, his clients include Facebook, Samsung, IBM, Cornell, Berkely, Adage, and more. His insights on entrepreneurship and networking have been featured in major media publications such as Forbes, Time, Harvard Business Review, Fortune, Entrepreneur, Fox Business, and more. He is committed to building the world's top Millennial-led network of super connectors and subject matter experts. Early in his career, Jared learned from some of the world's top experts on networking and relationship building. At a company called 15Five, he was mentored by “the most connected man you don't know in Silicon Valley,” according to Forbes. After that, he started a marketing consulting firm where his first client was Keith Ferrazzi, author of the modern-day networking classic Never Eat Alone. Between those two mentors and his work interviewing some of the world's smartest, most talented Millennials, he became someone who was very well connected — and that became his differentiated skillset in the marketplace. As someone who has dedicated his career to researching successful Millennials, Jared has a clear grasp of how they tend to be different in the workplace. He has noticed, at a high level, a 3-step process they have followed to achieve success in record time.    These are the three things most successful Millennial entrepreneurs are doing: Putting themselves in a position to be exponentially successful by experimenting. Building their own distribution network or following to give direct access to the people you want to serve. Out-collaborate the competition. By working with others, you extend your reach to share innovative ideas with as many people as possible.   We are facing more problems today than ever before and they are growing exponentially in severity. As individuals, we have access to technology and platforms that give us abilities equal to what only governments, massive corporations, or the wealthiest individuals would have had 100 years ago. If we can come together and take advantage of the tools and technologies available to us, we can achieve incredible things and change the world.   The Biggest Helping: Today's Most Important Takeaway “We all have the power now that only governments, corporations, and the uber-wealthy had just a few generations ago. If you're listening to this and you're wondering how to navigate through trying times and this difficult period we're all faced with right now, then think about how you yourself can level up, upskills, whatever the phrase is you want to use. Find your passions and explore those. After you do that, then think about where you can experiment and innovate, whether that's launching a new business, doing a different business model with your current business, now is the perfect time to experiment. If the playbook was out the window before, now we have institutions that are really hurting and we're looking for creative solutions to all sorts of problems right now. Now is a great time to experiment, build your own network, build your own following so that if and when you stumble on something important and meaningful you have people to share those ideas with, and be open to collaborating with others because that's where these true breakthroughs are going to come from. And if we can catalyze as many of these meetings of the minds as possible, I think we'll all survive.”   --   Thank you for joining us on The Daily Helping with Dr. Shuster. Jared Kleinert is the millennial mind behind '2 Billion Under 20-How Millennials are Breaking Down Age Barriers and Changing the World', a ground-breaking book, co-authored with Stacy Ferreira.   Jared started his first business when he was 15 years old and has just kept on rollin'. As a member of the Teal Fellowship community, he was inspired to write this book at just 17 years old, after attending a conference where he met thousands of other millenials just like him-ambitious, entrepreneurial, young go-getters. That conference, and the motivation behind his book, spoke to the 2 billion people in this world under 20 years old. It is a rallying cry to ‘spread the virus' of innovation among millennials. Today, that book has become much more-a thriving community and movement of talented millennials has built up around it and Jared couldn't be more excited! Not only that, but it's taken on a life of its own, leading Jared to be invited to not just one, but four TED talks and he's started his own consulting firm, advising ‘Corporate America' on how to better attract and work with millennials, everything from marketing and recruiting to retention and engagement. Jared and I talk about ‘everything' entrepreneurship-the hits and the misses, the valuable lessons he's learned when it comes to really understanding his audience's needs and wants, and his mission for building this community of aspiring, amazing millenials.   True confidence comes from not being worried about what other people think and having conscious reasons for your beliefs. And, being confident is bold! This inspiring first episode of The Bold Life Movement with Jared Kleinert is a must for everyone! Some questions I ask: Why is it so vital for businesses to understand the mentality and emotions of millennials? What is the best thing that came out of writing '2 Billion Under 20'. Can you truly go ‘grassroots' to fund your creative endeavors? What are some strategies? What is the absolute one thing that you must provide to your audience, whether it's in business or in life? What are the benefits to starting the entrepreneurial life as a young person? Who are your most valuable mentors? In today's economy, should millennials even go to college? What is the one skill that Jared knows he could improve? What he wishes he had known when he started his entrepreneurial journey? In This Episode, You Will Learn: How a book helps you make money on everything else but the actual book Some real-life strategies and tips for getting started in the public speaking arena How to view a mistake in business as a learning experiment and not a failure A great approach to seeking out and building a network of mentors The value of making conscious decisions, at any age or stage of your life What it means to take a ‘Gap Year Mindset' Plus much more… Don't stop here... 2 Billion Under 20 - How Millennials Are Breaking Down Age Barriers and Changing the World JaredKleinert.com 2BillionUnder20.com ThielFellowship.org Enjoy the Podcast?
