In this episode of the Third Thursday Podcast, I open up about something we all go through—but often don't talk about enough: loss. Whether it's missing out on a dream, losing a business you helped build, or saying goodbye to someone you love, I've learned that loss doesn't just hurt—it shapes who we become. In this conversation, I share some of the most defining losses in my life—from not getting the FFA leadership role I pinned all my hopes on, to losing my stepdad, my dog Hudson, and key customers in business. These stories aren't easy to tell, but they've helped me develop a framework that's guided me through each chapter: ➡️ Reflect. Refocus. Rise. Reach. If you're in a season of loss or looking for a way forward, I hope this encourages you. And if it speaks to you, please like, comment, share—or just reach out. You're not alone in this journey. Let's grow together. If this episode resonates with you—or you know someone navigating a tough season—please share it. Drop a comment, DM me, or just sit with the message. And remember, it's okay to fall back sometimes. What matters is that we rise again.
On the program this time we remember Brook Reams, who passed on June 13, 2025. How many times did so many of us reference his YouTube channel and website?..... countless. Brook's work provided immense detail and inspired confidence to tackle the most basic and sometimes complicated jobs. Question about a part number or assembly procedure—odds are it's there. Through those works, he left us a great record that will continue to inspire us and keep the 247 relevant for years to come. In this program we'll revisit the first interview with Brook which aired back in August of 2022, a sort of origin story, if you will. In addition, we'll hear from his son Branden and longtime friend Matt Norman from EME. Thank you Brook----for everything. In this episode of Champ Talk with Branden Hudson, Branden hosts AJ Angello, a 24-year-old owner of A4 Training, a specialized performance-based training facility. AJ shares his journey of how he started his gym, the challenges he faced, and his unwavering focus on helping people, especially the youth, through sports training. They discuss the importance of culture in sports and fitness, the role of community in supporting young athletes, and the challenges in youth sports environments created by overzealous parents and a lack of formalized coaching systems. AJ also touches on his brief stint in politics and his ongoing passion for community service. Branden Keith Orr is an alleged predator caught in a Polk County, Florida investigation of Takedown with Chris Hansen. Known for working as a lifeguard at Disney World and giving ghost tours, Orr became infamous for fleeing the sting house and being tased by deputies in the yard. As part of Operation Cyber Guardian, the Polk County Sheriff's Office set up a sting house and was “bombarded” with men attempting to meet minors for sex. Orr was one of them, engaging in an explicit chat with a decoy posing as a 14-year-old girl. He quickly escalated the conversation, suggesting they watch a movie, cuddle, make out, and have sex—promising to bring a condom. When the decoy asked if sex would hurt, he replied, “It's not going to hurt for me.” After a 45-minute drive, Orr parked, briefly left, then returned and approached the house—only to suddenly flee. Deputies chased him around the yard and tased him before arresting him. A condom was found in his back pocket. Once detained, he was brought back inside, where Chris interviewed him while officers searched him. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Not much, but without Branden this week we had to do something. Gerg has a great beard idea. Video games are saving our future but not in an Ender's Game way, this one is much more a coincidence. Some other stuff, too, probably. Cool! More at nerdtalkplus.com we love you!

In today's episode I'm joined by my 23-year-old son, Branden Coffie, who just locked in his first government consulting client... with no degree and no prior contracting experience. Branden walks us through how he took what he learned behind the scenes—editing my videos, watching coaching calls, and consuming the content—and turned it into a repeatable action plan that landed him a deal with an 8(a)-certified plastics manufacturer. We break down the exact script he used, how he found the opportunity, and why confidence and clarity matter more than credentials. If you've ever doubted whether you're “qualified” to start, this episode will erase every excuse. Branden didn't overthink it—he picked up the phone, ran the market research, and made the pitch. Now he's negotiating terms and walking the walk. Tune in and find out how a Gen Z newcomer proved that when you take action, results follow. This is proof you don't need experience—you need initiative. Sean Carroll's Mindscape: Science, Society, Philosophy, Culture, Arts, and Ideas
Every time you see an apple spontaneously break away from a tree, it falls downward. You therefore claim that there is a law of physics: apples fall downward from trees. But how can you really know? After all, tomorrow you might see an apple that falls upward. How is science possible at all? Philosophers, as you might expect, have thought hard about this. Branden Fitelson explains how a better understanding of probability can help us decide when new evidence is actually confirming our beliefs.Blog post with transcript: https://www.preposterousuniverse.com/podcast/2025/05/19/315-branden-fitelson-on-the-logic-and-use-of-probability/Support Mindscape on Patreon.Branden Fitelson received a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
