Plus, SHENANIGANS (albeit with about 75% less reggae)! LISTEN TODAY! You can watch this episode at: https://youtube.com/live/fbHdf5s0dxg Get caught up on your reading without all that pesky reading! Fulfilling a prophecy set forth by one Chris Eberle about a year ago, we have quite literally willed the Micronauts back into existence! That's right, as Marvel begins republishing this long in limbo property, we here at Comic Geek Speak gather together to discuss the first twelve issues of this 1979 classic in as much detail as we can muster. And in order to do so properly, Chris, Ian, Murd and Shane are joined by none other than Ryan Drost of the Star Joes Podcast! Ryan brings with him history on the original toy line, what led Bill Mantlo to the comic book series in the first place, who Marvel nearly had draw the title before Michael Golden signed on, the many comparisons to Star Wars, and so much more. So do you best to avoid miniature ships as they whiz through your front yard, secure Muffin, time travel with The Time Traveler, be cautious of Baron Karza and his Body Banks, and try not to get turned into a cyborg or a centaur, because this one is a doozy! On this episode of Podcasting Smarter, Jen is joined by Jon Thurmond. Jon is the co-host of the HR Social Hour Podcast where he and fellow HR-pro Wendy Dailey talk to other HR professionals about connecting, giving back, and building your network. Jon is also a co-host on the long-running Star Joes Podcast which is a show dedicated to Star Wars, G.I. Joe, and everything in between. Jon's Podcasting Confession: Jon failed to hit record on his fourth episode with a great guest. Luckily his guest was happy to record again, and improve on his first podcast interview. Jon's Podcasting Smarter Tips: Before he hit record for the first time, Jon and Wendy hopped on Skype and practiced so they could work on their timing and be confident that their podcast was professional sounding from the beginning Jon knew there were a lot of HR podcasts out there already so he know it was important to find a hook. He and Wendy chose to concentrate on humanizing their industry and building community. The HR Social Hour Podcast came about after Jon created a weekly Twitter Chat, #HRSocialHour in order to connect with other HR professionals that like him, were not able to attend SHRM, a large, annual HR conference. That twitter chat was so successful, that it inspired the idea for a complementary podcast. Podcasters may want to consider starting their own Twitter Chats as a way to connect with their audience. Be sure to advertise the date/time, and attach a hashtag to it. Jon uses the tool, Wakelet, to capture the content from his Twitter chats. Jon has benefitted professionally from his podcast. He even got invited to be part if the Blog Squad for this year's SHRM Conference in Chicago. This gave him the opportunity to connect with respected leaders in his industry. His biggest piece of advice is to do our homework. It is easy to start a podcast, but difficult to keep it going unless you prepare by organizing your time, planning your content, and committing to being consistent. Jon's Hypothetical Podcast About His Life: "The Professional B.S. Podcast" Jon's Fantasy Podcaster: Hal Needham Check our the HR Social Hour Podcast on Podbean, iTunes, and Stitcher! Follow HR Social Hour on Facebook, and you can find Jon on Twitter too! You can also listen to Star Joes Podcast in all the places as well! :) Remember, you can join Jon and Wendy the 4th Sunday of each month at 7 PM Eastern for the #HRSocialHour chat on Twitter! See how they do it, and consider starting your own!
In this extra special, and extra large, episode of Star Joes, Ryan, Chuck, and Jon are back together with a whole crew at Baltimore Comic Con. The group talk about the convention and about the 200 episodes of the Star Joes Podcast. Then in the second half of the show, Ryan, Robert, and Eric give their thoughts and insights to the latest Star Wars movie, The Last Jedi. It's everything you could want in a Star Joes episode and nothing you can expect! Enjoy!
Sometimes it's difficult to record episodes on a regular basis because producing comic books is crazy work. In those cases, we steal other podcasts and play them as our own. Like this one: Quinn and Robert were recently interviewed on the "Star Joes" Podcast with Chuck and Ryan, where they talked all about "Elders of the RuneStone" and even got to discuss their "TMNT" love. Sonic Boom!
The boys are BACK!! Chuck and Ryan are back to their regular format. With the multiple crossover shows behind them, the guys can get back to covering comics again. In this episode you find how little it takes for Chuck to sell out. They also discuss who would be on their X-Men and Avengers teams. And in a shocking turn of events we find that Chuck's church of Hama may not be on solid ground anymore. So kick back, relax, and enjoy!! ****Special Alert***** Though mentioned in the show "The Comic Forums" is no longer the forums home for the Star Joes Podcast. You can now join our new forums at: http://www.forumforgeeks.com/
Well, 2010 has drawn to a close and the Star Joes Podcast has reached ONE YEAR officially today. What do we do to celebrate? Well, Ryan and Chuck are going out drinking and you all get to listen to some bloopers!! Most of this episode is Ryan and Chuck's conversations before they started each recent episode. If you have liked their crazy tangents on the "Suck" episodes, then you're gonna love this. This is the funniest episode so far this year!! Enjoy!!
