Monsters have long captivated human imagination, and this episode delves into the fascinating legend of a lake monster in Sweden, specifically the creature said to inhabit Sturchen, or the Big Lake. This tale intertwines with regional identity and the historical significance of a runestone associated with the beast, which adds a unique layer to the narrative of monsters and archaeological artifacts. The legend, first documented by a Danish priest in the 17th century, highlights how folklore can shape local culture and community ties. However, the episode also sheds light on the darker implications of this myth, including the misuse of taxpayer funds in efforts to prove the monster's existence. Ultimately, it raises important questions about pseudoscience, historical narratives, and the balance between cultural heritage and fiscal responsibility.Chapters:00:01 - Introduction to Monsters01:07 - The Sturgeon Monster of Sweden01:56 - The Legend of the Runestone02:21 - Historical Context of the Monster05:40 - The Role of the Runestone in Local Identity11:43 - Modern Implications and Taxpayer Costs20:33 - The Pseudoscience of the Sea Monster21:00 - Conclusion and Reflections

Send us a Text Message.Sansa does her best to embrace her new identity as Alayne Stone. She and Littlefinger prepare for the arrival of the Lords Declarant. They want Lord Robert and they want Littlefinger gone. However, when the unexpected arises during the parlay, Littlefinger prevails and earns a year as Lord Protector, to prove himself.Chapter Review:Sansa Stark is now going by the name Alayne Stone in public and private, as Petyr Balish insisted. At breakfast, little Lord Robert Arryn is in a state. He wanted eggs and bacon but none were available. The Lords Declarant have the Gates of the Moon surrounded and won't allow new stores of food up to the Eyrie, until Littlefinger sends down Robert and then leaves the Vale. Breakfast ends with a shaking fit from Robert.Alayne organizes the seating arrangements in the solar and then goes to meet their guests, as they arrive at the Eyrie. Alayne ensures that they eat and drink upon arrival, to guarantee everyone's safety through Guest Right. She's thankful that Bronze Yohn Royce doesn't recognize her, despite meeting her twice as Sansa Stark. In the solar, the Lords get to the point. They want Robert to foster at Runsetone with Yohn Royce and Littlefinger to leave for Harrenhal. Littlefinger's strongest argument is that his wife Lysa named him Lord Protector and named Robert his ward. The others don't care. Talks reach an impasse until Lyn Corbray pulls his sword and demands a duel with Littlefinger. The Lords are aghast, and Littlefinger takes advantage of the situation. Ultimately, all agree that Littlefinger may have one year to set the Vale to rights, as Lord Protector. That night Littlefinger confirms Sansa's suspicion that Lyn Corbray was bought and paid for.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Sansa Stark - Eldest surviving Stark child. In this episode, I'll break down the basics of Ordinals, Runes, BRC-20, Inscriptions, and RuneStone Let's meet the people behind the new Bitcoin ecosystem. Casey Rodarmor, Creator, Artist, Developer, and founder of Ordinals and Runes protocol. Domo, the developer who developed the BRC-20 token standard. Leonidas, builder, host, influencer. Leo Caillard, artist, sculptor, and creator of Runestone. Comparisons with Ordinals and Runes Ordinals launched on Bitcoin mainnet by developer Casey Rodarmor on January 20, 2023 Ordinals protocol allows for data written directly to each Satoshi, according to the definition on Chainlink, Ordinals are means of creating Bitcoin NFTs by attaching data such as images, videos, and more to an individual Satoshi on the base Bitcoin blockchain. Runes Protocol launched on April 2024. Both the Ordinals protocol and Runes protocol are developed by Casey Rodarmor. Runes were built for degens and memecoins, but the protocol is simple, efficient, and secure. It is a legitimate competitor to Taproot Assets and RGB. The protocol is self-contained and has no dependencies on ordinals or inscriptions, making it extremely simple. ( Casey Rodarmor ) Runes is a new protocol for fungible tokens on Bitcoin after Ordinals. Think of Runes like US dollars. They're based on UTXO (Unspent transaction outputs), which are akin to pouches in which you can store one or more tokens, much like a kangaroo's pouch or a wallet. Runes protocol is lighting compatible, which means it accelerates the transaction. Inscriptions, on the other hand, are NFTs ( Non-Fungible Tokens like digital art, trading cards, and collectibles ). Casey Rodarmor describes “Inscriptions” are like diamonds, each diamond with unique characteristics such as color, size, clarity, and cut. While BRC-20 tokens use the foundational technology behind Bitcoin Ordinals, they're not quite the same thing. Technically speaking, BRC-20 tokens are Ordinals because they're created by inscribing data to individual Satoshi, ( the smallest amount of Bitcoin ) BRC 20 tokens standard was launched by anonymous developer Domo on March 9, 2023. BRC-20 tokens embed JSON data into ordinal inscriptions to enable users to deploy, mint, and transfer tokens. The first BRC-20 tokens created contained the following JSON data defining the token's name, a limit of 1,000 tokens per mint, and a maximum number of 21 million tokens: Leonidas is the builder, marketer, and influencer of Runestone NFTs. On February 20, Leonidas airdropped Runestone NFTs to reward the year one Ordinals community. 112,383 addresses that held 3 non-text inscriptions in their wallet will receive a Runestone, plus a Rune meme token to the Runestone holders, however, the Rune meme tokens have no partnership or add-on value yet, according to the X announcement from The Ordinal. Leonidas collaborated with the artist, and sculptor, Leo Caillard. Leo Caillard is the top 20 contemporary artists worldwide according to ArtPrice. His exhibitions at prestigious art shows like Art Basel and Frieze. Leo Caillard gifted the Runestone creative license to the Ordinals community and released it under the CC0 license, enabling other creators to utilize it freely as a public domain asset to foster and enrich the Ordinals community. Sansa considers the two sides of Petyr Baelish's character. She witnesses Marillion falsely implicating himself in the murder of Lysa Arryn, and Nestor Royce being wooed by Baelish. Simon and Mackelly wonder if these life-lessons are standing her in good stead.Chapter Review:Sansa is being kept awake by Marillion's singing. A problem with those sky-cells being so open. Apparently he's only got his voice left, as Mord has taken care of several fingers and both eyes. She assumes that when Nestor Royce arrives Marillion will be kept quiet, but Littlefinger says quite the opposite. The singer will be brought before the Keeper of the Gates of the Moon to sing the song that Baelish wants him to. Sansa is worried, but Petyr is relaxed - even if Marillion doesn't play ball, it is his word against theirs.Marillion admits to the murder before Royce, his empty sockets bandaged in silk. Littlefinger entertains the High Steward in his solar afterward. There he presents Royce with a hereditary lordship of the Gates of the Moon - elevating him and his descendants at a stroke. The document is signed by the new Lord Protector of the Vale, so Nestor has a very strong reason to back the widower's claim.Sansa follows the machinations, and Baelish is impressed - she really is his daughter (only, you know, she isn't). But he insists that she maintain the ruse, that she is Alayne, Petyr's natural-born daughter. Even in private. Characters/Places/Names/Events:Sansa Stark - Eldest surviving Stark child. Runes is a fungible token protocol built on Bitcoin. If you're familiar with Ordinals, more specifically Inscriptions - they're effectively NFTs on Bitcoin. Runes, on the other hand, are like ERC-20s (from Ethereum) on Bitcoin. In this episode, we do a deep dive into the protocol that's set to launch tomorrow on the Bitcoin halving (block 840,000).

Heavener Runestone – Heavener, Oklahoma – onlyinokshow.com
Did the Vikings have a Sooner connection? Today we are discussing the Heavener Runestone in Heavener, OK. Experience fascinating history and scenic nature at once with a visit to Heavener Runestone Park. This dynamic attraction in southeastern Oklahoma is the site of the annual Heavener Runestone Viking Festival, thanks to its unique history. Opened in 1970, this park is centered on a Swedish-inscribed runestone found in the 1920s. However, according to oral history, the runestone was actually discovered in the 1830s by a Choctaw hunting party. Several ideas have been proposed to explain the origin of the inscriptions. Some claim that the runes document Viking exploration of southeastern Oklahoma in about 1000 A.D., while others suggest the runes were carved in the early 1700s. See the stone for yourself on Poteau Mountain just outside the town's limits. This 55-acre park also offers group shelters for picnics, picnic tables, outdoor grills, comfort stations, amphitheater, playground, campsites, hiking and educational programs about the Runestone. Be sure to stop by the gift shop and enhance your experience at the interpretative center with educational information. Located in Le Flore County, Heavener is situated on State Highway 128 and on U.S. Highway 59/270, approximately twelve miles south of Poteau, the county seat. Lying within the former Choctaw Nation, Heavener is named for Joseph H. Heavener, who arrived in 1877. Prior to the town's christening as Heavener, the area was known by several different names, including Prairie of the Tall Grass, Choctaw City, Prairie View, Long Prairie, and Grand Prairie. Good land drew farmers to the area and assisted in Heavener's growth. In 1885 a cotton gin and gristmill were built, and soon other businesses began moving in. Heavener expanded because of transportation access. After the Kansas City Southern Railway purchased the rail line in 1900, in 1910 the company established a roundhouse, making Heavener a division point. As a result, the town grew. In that year the first bank opened. In 1910 the population was 780, and by 1911 Heavener had two banks, two newspapers, and all of the amenities of a growing city. The population jumped to 1,850 in 1920. In 1970, when Oklahoma officials dedicated the nearby Heavener Runestone State Park, the population was 2,566. Also discussed: Onlyinokshow, Travelok, House Bill 1027, KFOR and Governor Kevin Stitt. Three days before the recording of this episode, archaeologists and runologists in Norway unveiled the sensation that is the Svingerud runestone, which is so far the oldest dateable runestone known to exist, and conceivably the oldest runic inscription to date. Onomastic mastermind and BN regular Krister Vasshus is one of the scholars working on it, and he's returning to the podcast to give us the inside scoop, hint at some yet-to-be-revealed finds, and discuss some possible uses for powdered moles. Check out BlackFlagPod.comReturning to Runestone, Daemon murders his estranged wife, Rhea. King Viserys and Rhaenyra sail to the Driftmark to arrange a marriage between the princess and Ser Laenor, and which satisfies Lord Corlys Velaryon regarding the succession. Rhaenyra privately tells Laenor that she understands his sexual orientation and proposes that they amicably perform their royal duties while having lovers. Ser Otto, about to depart King's Landing, tells Queen Alicent that her son must be the heir, otherwise her children's lives will always be threatened if Rhaenyra ascends the throne. Also, Alicent unintentionally learns the truth about Rhaenyra and Ser Criston, but keeps it confidential. At a feast celebrating the forthcoming nuptials, Alicent enters the hall wearing a green gown, the color symbolizing House Hightower's call to war. Ser Gerold Royce confronts Daemon, claiming he murdered his cousin Rhea, which Daemon denies, stating he expects to inherit his late wife's wealth. Laenor's lover, Ser Joffrey Lonmouth, realizing that Ser Criston is Rhaenyra's lover, smugly suggests they guard each other's secrets. Criston, enraged by this, fatally beats Joffrey. Laenor is openly devastated by Joffrey's death. To avert additional scandal, Rhaenyra and Laenor are quickly and privately wed, just as Viserys succumbs to his illness. Later, as Ser Criston is about to kill himself over his misdeed, Queen Alicent appears, halting his suicide.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
